Caring for white marble
During the operation of the marble coating, side effects may occur: streaks, stains will appear, the color will change. Builders attribute these phenomena to two main factors: the original quality of the material itself, as well as a violation of the technology of laying and caring for the stone.
Reasons for the deterioration of the appearance of marble:
- insufficient waterproofing of seams and joints;
- the use of low-quality glue; for white marble, it is preferable to use adhesive mixtures Ceresit CM115, Tokan-3 SK, Master Kristal;
- poor quality coating.
Competent care of a marble covering will allow to keep an original form of a natural stone for many years. Basic care rules:
- The first step is to apply a wax protective coating on a clean polished surface, which prevents stone contamination.
- Wet cleaning should be carried out regularly. To remove dirt, use a neutral detergent solution or special compositions for the care of natural stones. Cleaning with powders and pastes with abrasive substances is unacceptable - they can scratch the surface of the product. When choosing care products, make sure that they do not contain acid.
- Marble countertops must be protected from the effects of wines, natural juices, acids and fats. Even coffee or tea not wiped in time can leave stains on the coating. If liquid gets on the countertop, wipe it with a napkin and treat the coating with a stone cleaner. Fat is well removed with ordinary white spirit.
- To maintain the attractive appearance of a white marble floor, it is imperative to use a door mat that protects against sand and dirt from the street. It is not advisable to clean the floors with a vacuum cleaner, as its wheels can scratch the coating.
