What is a prayer of gratitude

The Prayer of Gratitude is a special prayer that should arise in the heart of a person. It should be remembered that if it is pronounced correctly, it can radically change the life of the believer. After all, in this way you can make it clear to the Lord that you humbly accept everything that he gives in real life. You are grateful to him not only for the joys, but also for the trials that he sends you. The Church offers a special way of raising thanksgiving - this is a thanksgiving prayer to the Savior. Each believer can order it in any church, but it should be remembered that it is imperative to be present at such a service.

Each person can in his own way offer a prayer of thanksgiving to God or his Holy Helpers. There are no hard and fast rules on this. But due to the different characters of people, some believers do it easily, others experience certain difficulties during prayer.

Difficulties with a prayer of thanksgiving for a believer arise when serious difficulties and obstacles arise on the path of life. But we must remember that it is impossible to grumble against God in any situation, because trials from above are not sent to us in vain. All obstacles on the path of life arise when the Almighty wants to show a person that he is leading a way of life that is not pleasing to God's plan. And this, above all, can be disastrous for the person himself. Therefore, if it seems to you that everything in your life is not going as you would like, just pray and offer your thanksgiving in a prayer appeal to God.

Thanksgiving for the good deed of God

To the lord god

For a believer, one should get into the habit of thanking God for everything that happens to him in the real world, namely:

  • In general, for the opportunity to live and feel;
  • For moving forward and being able to make decisions in any situation;
  • For victories and awards for labor;
  • For life lessons and trials that allow you to gain invaluable experience;
  • For everything valuable for life: family, children, parents, friends, shelter, work and even beloved pets.

You can thank the Lord at any time with these simple prayer words:

I, the Slave (s) of God (s) (my own name), praise You and thank You, the Almighty, for the fact that your instructions help me to realize all my inner accumulations. I am grateful to You for the fruitful life path you sent down and for the opportunity to fulfill my destiny.

I, the Slave (s) of God (s) (my own name), praise You and thank You, the Most High, for the prosperity and peace in my house. I am grateful to you for the atmosphere of kindness and understanding between the household, for the loyalty of wonderful friends who always come to my house with an open soul.

I, the Servant (s) of God (s) (my own name), praise You and thank You, the Most High, for the good that You have sent down for all people. I rejoice and accept everything around me with bright thoughts and an open soul.

I, the Slave (s) of God (s) (my own name), praise You and thank You, the Almighty, for the fact that everything around is filled every minute with streams of Your wisdom and love. Your strength helps to choose the right path and hope for the Eternal Salvation of the Soul. Amen".

Prayer of thanks to the Lord God for help

A prayer of gratitude to the Lord God for help, support, solving urgent problems, healing from ailments - this is the thanksgiving that every prayer book should offer to the Creator. God is Love, and besides faith in Him, you must be able to give thanks.

What to give thanks for

For most people, and even those who consider themselves to be believers, everyday life seems dull and hard.

There seems to be absolutely nothing to express a grateful feeling of gratitude to Christ. This happens because people have forgotten how to accept gifts and rejoice in them, considering what they receive is due. But each of us receives the richest treasures from God: life, love, friendship, the ability to breathe, think, give birth to children.

It was Heaven that gave us the majestic beauty of nature, rivers and lakes, steppes, mountains, trees, the moon, heavenly bodies. And not knowing how to thank, we do not receive other gifts.

Received what you asked for - thank the Almighty, you can in your own words, or better with prayers. The human soul is alive as long as faith lives. And it must be supported by prayer appeals.

Advice! In addition to prayer, thanksgiving can be expressed by offering alms to poor people, tithes to the temple.

For every day lived, for the blessings sent down from Heaven, for health, for the happiness of beloved children - for all the blessings of God, a prayer of thanks to the Lord God should be heard from the lips of the petitioners.

It is necessary to learn to appreciate what seems to be self-evident, every little thing - only then a person will understand that absolutely everything in this mortal world happens according to the Will of the Heavenly Father.

It is necessary to give thanks to Jesus Christ with a pure heart and a bright soul, only then will it reach the Throne of God. And in response to the prayer book, God's blessing and mercy will descend.

We thank Thee, O Lord our God, for all Thy good deeds, from the first age to the present, in us, unworthy servants of Thy and Thy only begotten Son, you deign to give about us, make us worthy to be Thy love.

Grant with Thy word wisdom and with Thy fear breathe strength from Thy strength, and if you sin, even though or unwillingly, forgive and not impute, and keep our soul holy, and present it to Thy Throne, I have a clear conscience, and the end is worthy of Thy humanity; and remember, O Lord, all who call on your name in truth; remember all who are good or who resist us who want us: for all men I am, and in vain every man; so much the same we pray to you, Lord, grant us your goodness great mercy.

The Cathedral of Saints Angel and Archangel, with all the heavenly powers sings Thee, and says: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, fill heaven and earth with Thy glory. Hosanna in the highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, hosanna in the highest. Save me, Who art in the highest, the King, save me and sanctify me, the Source of sanctification; from Thee, for the whole creation is strengthened, They sing to Thee the countless song of the Trisagion. To you and I am unworthy, to those who sit in the unapproachable light, all things are terrified of him, I pray: enlighten my mind, cleanse my heart, and open my mouth, as if I may be worthy to pet You: Holy, Holy, Holy Thou Lord, always, now, and ever and forever and ever. Amen.

We praise God to Thee, we confess The Lord, to Thee the Eternal Father the whole earth magnifies; All angels are for you, for you heaven and all powers, for you with cherubs and seraphims ceaseless voices cry out: holy, holy, holy, the Lord God of hosts, the essence of heaven and earth are full of the majesty of your glory, for you the glorious apostolic face, for you a prophetic and laudatory number, for you praises the glorious martyrdom, throughout the whole universe the Holy Church confesses to You, the Father of incomprehensible majesty, worshiped by Your true and Only Begotten Son and Holy Comforter Spirit. Thou, the King of glory, Christ, Thou art the Father's everlasting Son: Thou, for the deliverance of man, thou art not abhorred of the Virgin's womb; You, having overcome the sting of death, opened the Kingdom of Heaven to the believers. Sit at the right hand of God in the glory of the Fathers, Judge, come to believe. We ask you for help: help your servant, you have redeemed them with Honest Blood. Grant me reign with Thy saints in Thy eternal glory. Save Thy people, O Lord, and bless Thy inheritance, I correct and lift them up forever; all the days let us bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Grant, Lord, to us to be saved without sin on this day. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us: wake Thy mercy, O Lord, on us, as with hope in Thee. On Thee, Lord, with hope, may we not be ashamed forever. Amen.

Prayer of thanks for receiving what is asked

Glory to Thee Savior, Almighty Power! Glory to Thee Savior, Omnipresent Power! Glory to Thee, Blessed Womb! Glory to Thee, Hearing ever-opening up to hearing a prayer that is cursed, in a merciful man and save me from my sins! Glory to Thee, Serene Eyes, I will take out on me the kindly seeing and seeing all my secrets! Glory to Thee, glory to Thee, glory to Thee, Sweetest Jesus, my Savior!

Thanksgiving ministry

In addition to prayers, the Church practices the service of thanksgiving.

How to order a prayer service

To order it you need:

  • come to the temple and write a note in the candle shop with the title "Thanksgiving prayer to Jesus Christ";
  • write in the column the names of the benefactors, only those given in the Sacrament of Baptism (in the genitive case - from whom: Nina, George, Lyubov, Sergius, Demetrius);
  • no need to enter the last name, patronymic, citizenship of the donor, as well as names in diminutive form (from Dasha, Seryoga, Sashka);
  • it is recommended to assign the status to the names: bol. - sick, mln. - infant (child under 7 years old), neg. - adolescent (teenager from 7 to 14 years old), warrior, cont. - not idle, pregnant;
  • give the completed form to the candlewoman and make the recommended donation (if a person is experiencing financial difficulties, then no one will demand payment from him for the demand);
  • there is no need to indicate the reason for gratitude, the Almighty knows everything and knows about everything, He is the Heart-bearer;
  • it is advisable to purchase a candle in the church (any, and its price and size do not affect the quality of gratitude or the fervor of prayer);
  • on the eve of the prayer, put it in a candlestick by the icon of Christ.

Important! Gratitude to God is exalted not only for joy, happiness, health and well-being, but also for sorrows, troubles and misfortunes, for God's Wrath and His punishment - this is a severe test and the path to Salvation.

Rules of conduct during the prayer service

  1. It is necessary to be personally present at the performance of the prayer service by the cleric and to work prayerfully together with him and other parishioners.
  2. If a person is seriously ill, then on his behalf one of the relatives or acquaintances can attend the prayer service.
  3. To be late for a service is ugly, to say the least. Usually the requirements are performed at the end of the Liturgy, and it always takes place in the morning. Therefore, it is first necessary to clarify the time of the beginning of the prayer service.
  4. During prayer, you need to ponder over every word uttered by the priest and, if possible, after it, repeat the text to yourself.

Important! You cannot be indifferent at the prayer service - after all, this is a personal prayer to the Lord of each parishioner who ordered a thanksgiving request.

The service in the church is performed in the Church Slavonic dialect. This language is not understood by all parishioners, so it is recommended to parse the text of the prayer service beforehand.

It is not necessary to look for translated literature on the shelves of libraries or in bookstores - now there is enough information on the Internet on absolutely any topic.

Often thanksgiving prayers are read along with other ordered requirements:

Sometimes the priest serves a general prayer service, uniting all the services ordered for that day. Do not worry, this will not diminish the "quality" of your thanksgiving at all.

The prayer of gratitude should take a place in the heart of every person. Pronouncing it correctly and sincerely can drastically change your life.

She makes the Lord understand that the prayer book humbly accepts everything, joys and difficult trials, which Heaven gives him. Everyone knows that it is impossible to grumble at God, because obstacles in life occur when a person leads a way of life that is not pleasing to the Almighty, which is destructive for his soul.

Advice! If everything in life is not going the way you would like, then prayerfully thank God for everything, trust Him with all your heart, not relying on your mind.

And then the Creator will make all the paths of earthly existence straight and full of happiness.

Thanksgiving prayers for every day

A prayer of thanksgiving is a prayer to the Lord God, the content of which should be known to every Orthodox believer. Gratitude is the quality that can make a person stronger, helps him get rid of the burden of negativity, cleanse himself of bad thoughts.

Remember that gratitude is most needed not to the person to whom it is expressed, but first of all to you. For example, one of the most common thanksgiving prayers is an appeal to the Mother of God.

Orthodoxy teaches that thanksgiving prayers are used to thank the saint for guiding them on the right path, surrounding them with motherly care, and allowing them to cope with life's difficulties.

Believers know very well how effective Orthodox prayers can be. Heavenly forces help get rid of diseases, hardships, sorrows, failures, family problems, solve love troubles, and for all this you need to learn to thank them. Unfortunately, most of us turn to God only when we are in need, but if you learn to listen to God, to thank heavenly powers for what you have, your happiness will have no limit.

Description of some prayers

The most popular prayer is the prayer of sincere gratitude to the Lord. In order to read it, it is not necessary to go to church, but Orthodox Christians are encouraged to attend church at least occasionally. The best option would be to stand in front of the icon of Jesus Christ and read the words of gratitude.

No less effective is the prayer of St. Basil the Great, which allows for a more capacious expression of gratitude to the heavenly powers.

You can also thank the Most Holy Lady Theotokos, who is one of the most famous saints. Every Orthodox Christian at home must have her icon, so it will not be difficult to pray to her. It is also recommended to light a lamp or put up candles.

Who Will Thanksgiving Prayers Help?

As we have already said, despite the fact that a prayer of thanksgiving is directed primarily to the Lord, the effect of it will affect you. Orthodox Christians who regularly praise God and his Angels will certainly be able to feel positive changes in their lives.

The main thing is to remember that the sincerity of your words is of great importance, because only prayers coming from the heart will be heard, and besides, you need to learn to listen to God. Feel gratitude in your soul, and only then express it in words, in prayers. It is worth saying such a prayer at least once and you will see how calm and joyful you will feel afterwards.

Orthodox thanksgiving prayers will take negative thoughts and resentment away from you, and allow your heart to open up to new, positive feelings. It is important to take the reading of such prayers as a rule, it is advisable to read them daily, and then your life will be filled with joy, happiness, causeless sadness, sadness will go away from it, depression will be forgotten. It is not necessary to use existing prayers, sometimes your own words of gratitude work more effectively, because the meaning of other prayers may not always be clear to us.

Some rules for reading prayers

The main thing is to remain focused on heartfelt gratitude. It is best to concentrate, for example, in front of the icon of the saint to whom you will pray.

Priests recommend thanking heavenly powers every morning and evening. It is not necessary to constantly turn to the same saint or the Lord, this will diversify the ritual, make it more interesting, and avoid the mechanical muttering of holy words. Thanksgiving prayers are the element without which it is difficult to imagine true faith. Words of gratitude will protect you, ward off trouble, prevent the interference of evil forces in your life.

Faith is the impenetrable seal between the Lord and man. You cannot lose it even in the most critical situations. It is necessary to turn to God in prayer and he will hear everyone. “I am your Lord, I am a healer,” Jesus says according to the legend.

Grant with Thy word wisdom and with Thy fear breathe strength from Thy strength, and if you sin, even though or unwillingly, forgive and not impute, and keep our soul holy, and present it to Thy Throne, I have a clear conscience, and the end is worthy of Thy humanity; and remember, O Lord, all who call on your name in truth; remember all who are good or who resist us who want us: for all men I am, and in vain every man; so much the same we pray to you, Lord, grant us your goodness, great mercy. For behold, every moment I am enlivened by Your Holy Spirit, every moment I breathe the air that You are poured out, light, pleasant, healthy, strengthening, - I am enlightened by Your joyful and life-giving light - spiritual and material; I eat sweet and life-giving spiritual food and drink the same, the holy Mysteries of Your Body and Blood, and material food and drink of sweetness; You dress me with a bright, beautiful royal garment - with Yourself and with material garments, you cleanse my sins, heal and cleanse my many and fierce sinful passions; you take away my spiritual corruption in the state of immeasurable goodness, wisdom and Thy strength, fill with Thy Holy Spirit - the Spirit of holiness, grace; you give my soul truth, peace and joy, space, strength, boldness, courage, strength, and you endow my body with precious health; you teach my hand for the army, and my fingers for wrestling with the invisible enemies of my salvation and bliss, with the enemies of the holiness and power of Your glory, with the spirits of wickedness in heaven; you crown my deeds with successes, done in Thy name ... For all this I thank, praise and bless Thy all-good, fatherly, omnipotent power, God, Savior, our Benefactor. But wake up and be known to other Thy people as well, as if Thou appeared to me, Human-loving, that they know You, the Father of all, Thy goodness, Thy providence, Thy wisdom and power and glorify You, with the Father and the Holy Spirit now and ever and ever.

Amen.

Thanksgiving ministry

In addition to prayers, the Church practices the service of thanksgiving.

How to order a prayer service

To order it you need:

  • come to the temple and write a note in the candle shop with the title "Thanksgiving prayer to Jesus Christ";
  • write in the column the names of the benefactors, only those given in the Sacrament of Baptism (in the genitive case - from whom: Nina, George, Lyubov, Sergius, Demetrius);
  • no need to enter the last name, patronymic, citizenship of the donor, as well as names in diminutive form (from Dasha, Seryoga, Sashka);
  • it is recommended to assign the status to the names: bol. - sick, mln. - infant (child under 7 years old), neg. - adolescent (teenager from 7 to 14 years old), warrior, cont. - not idle, pregnant;
  • give the completed form to the candlewoman and make the recommended donation (if a person is experiencing financial difficulties, then no one will demand payment from him for the demand);
  • there is no need to indicate the reason for gratitude, the Almighty knows everything and knows about everything, He is the Heart-bearer;
  • it is advisable to purchase a candle in the church (any, and its price and size do not affect the quality of gratitude or the fervor of prayer);

I thank Thee, My Lord, My God, Most Merciful, as he vouchsafed me to see Thy beautiful light and contemplate the magnificence of Thy deeds, worship Thee, and glorify Thy All-Holy Name. Draw my heart to You with your Holy Spirit, turn my heart away from everything bad, from evil deeds and bad, prodigal and selfish desires. Give me all day to learn Thy Truth, to act according to Thy holy Laws and Commandments, and to do Thy holy Will. Bless all my deeds and labors, so that I will be the first to attract Your Grace to me, and the latter will be for the benefit of mankind.

Prayer for raising difficult, disobedient children.

Lord, you are one with all things, all you can, and you all want to be saved and come into the mind of truth. Enlighten my son (or daughter) (names) with the knowledge of Thy truth and Thy holy will, and instruct and strengthen him and walk in Thy commandments and have mercy on me a sinner!

From my own experience, I was convinced how SOON - God hears the prayer of two or three praying from the heart together... Holy Righteous John of Kronstadt about the prayer "By agreement".

Prayer by agreement.(This prayer is read when it is necessary to help someone, read - in the morning, at noon, in the evening and at midnight, three times - ten, thirty and forty days

Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Thou art Thou most pure Thy lips: “Amen I say to you, that if two of you consult on earth from every thing, even if they ask, it will be from my Father, where else in heaven: where there are two or gather three together in my name, that I am in their midst. Your words are immutable, O Lord, Your mercy is without application and your philanthropy has no end. For this reason, we pray to you: grant us, Your servants (names), who have agreed to ask You (request), the fulfillment of our request. But both of us not as we want, but as You, may Your will be done forever.

ANCIENT REPENTED PRAYER.

Lord, Lord, behold, I stand before you like a prodigal son, I confess my sins to your goodness. You have sinned, my Savior, you have sinned. From my youth I have sinned and desecrated the soul and body with fierce deeds. Sin, like our forefathers Adam and Eve, having listened to Thy commandments; sinners, like Cain, and like all people are sinners of the Old and New Testaments. The mind of the black ones with inappropriate thoughts, the heart filled with impurity and every sinful feeling, weakening the will with laziness and inclination to sin. I am all blessed with sinful ulcers, as if I fell into robbers, all the wounds of my soul ooze pus. Who will heal me? Or Who will raise me up to their depths of sinful life, if not You, the Blessed Physician?

For this reason, I come to You, My King and My God, praying with tears. Heal and heal me. Cleanse my mind from obscene thoughts, free my heart from sinful impurity, so that with a pure heart and mind I can praise Thee, my Creator and God. Strengthen my will for good deeds, in a hedgehog that is pleasing to You and worthy of Your Holiness. Forgive me every sin, voluntary and involuntary, and all, even in knowledge and ignorance, that I have done. Thou art Goodness Itself and Love Itself and Imash the power to forgive sins, and we send glory to You with the Father and the Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for the reconciliation of the warring.

We thank You, Master of Humanity, Tsar of ages and Giver of good, having destroyed the mediastinum and peace of the steppe of enmity for the human race, grant now peace to Thy servants of God (names), instill in them Thy fear and affirm love for each other: quench every quarrel, take away all disagreement temptations. For Thou art our peace and we glorify Thee, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever.

Prayers for the sick.(when someone is sick, then you need to read these prayers, when they pray well for a sick person, then the disease stops and does not develop further.)

The one who is quick in intercession, Christ, quickly from above show the visit to Your suffering servant (name), and deliver from sickness and bitter diseases; and raise up a petit in the hedgehog and praise incessantly, with the prayers of the Mother of God, the One Human-loving One.

Prayer is for all weakness. Healing is from disease.

O Lord Almighty, Physician of souls and bodies, humble and exalt, punish and heal packs, visit our brother (name) who is weak with Your mercy, stretch out Your arm, full of healing and medicine, and heal him, raise him from bedside and weakness, forbid leave from him every ulcer, every disease, every wound, every fire and shake. And if there is sin or lawlessness in him, weaken, leave, forgive, Yours for the sake of humanity.

Prayer - from danger in an airplane flight.

The Holy Archangel Michael of God is a quick helper in troubles and misfortunes, especially in unpredictable dangers, such as crashes, disasters, accidents, fires, flight safety in an airplane, etc.

"O holy Archangel of God Michael, support with Your immaterial wings, the material wings of this machine!"

Prayer for the blessing of the house.

May the Almighty Merciful God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit bless and preserve! O! sweetest Jesus Christ, Almighty King of Heaven and earth, Son of God of David, Jesus of Nazareth, crucified on the Cross for us, have mercy on this house, keep those who live in it. May Your blessing of the Lord accompany them everywhere; let the Holy Spirit sanctify their thoughts and their hearts; His omnipotence is everywhere, in every place: everything that is in this house, who enters them and who leaves them, may the Holy Trinity bless and keep from all evil, so that nothing unclean will approach them. (Name) of the Lord Jesus Christ with nine ranks of Angels be in this house and give him his peace. May the Holy Virgin Mary cover with our motherly Shroud: may the Holy Apostles guard him: may his well-being be confirmed and strengthened by the Holy Evangelists. The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ be his roof; the nails of our Lord Jesus Christ be his protection; the crown of our Lord Jesus Christ be his veil. The Most Holy Virgin Mary, Holy Righteous Joseph and all the saints, Guardian Angels, pray the Lord Jesus Christ, One of the Holy Trinity, may he save this house from thunder, lightning, fire, hail, flooding, from the attack of evil people, need, unbelief, heresy ( war) and any misfortune that threatens the soul and body: in what way may God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit help us. Amen. Grant, Lord, on this day (or this night) without sin to be preserved for us. Lord have mercy (3 times). O Lord, Thy mercy is on us, as the hope is in Thee, O Lord. We trust in Ty, may we not be ashamed forever. Amen.

In memory of prayer, Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly left to Mother N., (who was his spiritual child for 30 years) a prayer for the blessing of the house. This prayer was read several times a day during bombing, besieging, and searches. And her house in one of the "hot" spots of the Caucasus, and the people who were in it, did not suffer, then, as near and in the vicinity, everything was burned, smashed, blown up.

Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly's rule read - in Danger.

Schiarchimandrite Vitaly (Vitaly Nikolaevich Sidorenko in the world.) During the hostilities in Tbilisi accompanying the political coup at the turn of the 1990s, he prayerfully participated in tragic events and gave his spiritual children a special rule to protect them from dangers.

He added, as his spiritual children remember:

“After that, if a shell explodes nearby, or a bullet flies by, or a fire breaks out, no trouble will touch you.” Those who prayed so testify: "Whoever performed this was - SAVED himself with his entire house."

Psalm of David 26.

The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life: whom should I fear?

If the evildoers, my adversaries and my enemies, attack me to devour my flesh, they themselves will stumble and fall.

If a regiment takes up arms against me, my heart will not fear; if war rises on me, and then I will hope.

I asked the Lord for one thing, that I only seek, so that I may remain in the Lord's house all the days of my life, contemplate the beauty of the Lord and visit His temple,

for He would hide me in His tabernacle on the day of the calamity, He would hide me in the secret place of His village, He would take me up to the rock.

Then my head would be lifted up above the enemies around me; and I would offer sacrifices of praise in His tabernacle, and I would sing and chant before the Lord.

My heart speaks from You: "Seek my face"; and I will seek Thy face, Lord.

Hide not Thy face from me; cast not away Thy servant in anger. You were my helper; do not reject me and do not leave me, O God, my Savior! For my father and my mother have left me, but the Lord will receive me.

Teach me, O Lord, Thy ways and guide me on the path of righteousness, for the sake of my enemies;

Deliver me not to the mercy of my enemies, for deceitful witnesses have risen up against me and breathe anger.

But I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Trust in the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, and hope in the Lord.

And then the Creator will make all the paths of earthly existence straight and full of happiness.

In Orthodoxy, it is customary to turn to God with prayer on almost every occasion. By their nature, prayers are classified into supplication, praise and thanksgiving. The latter also includes a special sequence called "Thanksgiving Prayers after Communion." They will be given below in Russian, accompanied by a short commentary.

Opening Prayer

These prayers are read, as the name suggests, after the sacrament. They are not included in the rite of the liturgy, and it is assumed that they will be read at home. However, in practice, the text of the prayer is most often read in the church after the service is over.

It begins with the words "Glory to you, God," repeated three times.

First prayer

The first prayer of thanks to the Lord God sounds like this:

"I thank you, Lord, my God for the fact that you did not abandon me, a sinner, but deigned me to partake of your shrines. I thank you that you deigned me to partake of your heavenly and most pure gifts. But, the benevolent Vladyka, who died for us both resurrected, and who gave us these frightening and life-creating mysteries for the good and sanctification of our souls and bodies, make them a source of healing for my soul and body. May they protect me from every enemy and enlighten the eyes of my heart. they give me peace in my soul, true faith, love devoid of hypocrisy, fill me with wisdom, help me keep your commandments. May they give me your grace and bring me into your kingdom. your grace and not for my own sake I will begin to live, but for the sake of you, our sovereign and benefactor. ex, who contemplates your face unspeakable goodness. Because you are the true desire and unspeakable joy of those who love you, Christ, our God. And you are praised by all that has been created for ever. Amen!".

As the context suggests, this is a prayer of thanksgiving to Jesus Christ, who is revered as God in the literal sense of the word in the Orthodox Church. The next prayer is dedicated to him.

Second prayer

This prayer of thanksgiving to Jesus Christ is attributed to the hand of Saint Basil the Great.

"Lord, Christ God! King of the ages and creator of everything! I thank you for all the good that you gave me, and for the communion of the pure and life-giving power of your mysteries. I implore you, good and loving people, keep me under your care and Grant me in a pure conscience to the very last breath in dignity to partake of your holy things for the sake of forgiveness of sins and eternal life. and always and forever and ever! "

The next thanksgiving prayer after the sacrament, like the first two, is also addressed to Christ. There are four of them in general, in the entire sequence, and the meaning in them is approximately the same - thanksgiving for the gift of the sacrament. Therefore, when they want to reduce the rank, they choose one of them, and omit the rest.

Third prayer

This prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord God belongs, as it is believed, to Saint Simeon Metaphrast.

"Who gave me your own flesh, you are fire! You burn the unworthy, but you did not sleep me, my creator! Then penetrate into all parts of my body, into all joints, into my belly, into my heart. Incinerate the overgrowth of all my sins. Cleanse me." my soul and make holy my thoughts. Enlighten my five senses. Penetrate me with your fear. Forever cover, save and protect me from any deed and word that harms my soul. Wash me and make me pure and beautiful soul, kind, reasonable and enlightened by your light . Make me the abode of only one of your spirit and not at all the abode of sin. Let all evil and all passions run away from me, your temple, as from the fire, as from the fire. I represent all the saints, angelic hierarchies, the forerunner of yours, the wise apostles and your purest mother, removed from all defilement! With their prayers, O Christ, accept me, and make me, your servant, a son of light, since you are the source of our sanctification and the only one, oh good, for our souls. And to you, as God and the Lord, we all send glory every day! "

The next prayer of thanks to the Lord God is devoid of authorship. In addition, of all four, it is the shortest.

Fourth prayer

This prayer of thanks to the Lord God sounds like this:

"Your holy body, O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, may it become for me a source of eternal life! And honoring your blood - the remission of sins. And this thanksgiving will become for me a source of joy, health and prosperity. When will your terrifying second coming come , you deign me, a sinner, to stand on your right in your greatness, through the prayers of your most pure mother and all saints. "

Fifth Prayer

This prayer of thanksgiving after communion is dedicated to the Mother of God.

"All-holy mistress, the Mother of God, the light of my darkened soul, my hope, cover, refuge, source of consolation, my joy! I thank you for honoring me, despite my unworthiness, to become a partaker of the most pure body and honored blood of your son. But she who gave birth to light truth, enlighten my inner eyes of the heart. And, as the one who gave birth to the source of immortality, revive me, who was killed by sin. As the one who gave birth to a merciful God, oh mother, whose womb is filled with goodness and love, have mercy on me and grant me a broken heart and humility in thoughts and return me from the captivity of my sinful thoughts. Honor me to the very last breath, without condemnation to receive sanctification from the purest secrets for the healing of soul and body. And grant me tears for repentance and correction, so that I can sing and glorify you all the days of my life, blessed and full of glory for all ages! Amen! "

This is, in fact, the end of the thanksgiving prayers. Further, in order, there are several more texts that have a broader meaning. For example, the following text is a prayer of thanksgiving to God for help, taken from the Bible, where it was put into the mouth of one of the righteous men who were preparing to face death after fulfilling their destiny. The suicide prayer is included in this rite as evidence of the willingness of the sacrament to go to God, if suddenly this happens for any reason.

Sixth Prayer

"On this day, you release your servant in peace, sir, in accordance with your words. Because my eyes have seen the salvation that came from you, which you have prepared before your face for all people. The light of revelation to the nations and the glory of your inheritance - Israel" ...

This is a prayer recited at the funeral rite, as well as during any evening service.

Trisagion

But this short and very ancient prayer comes from Byzantium. According to legend, it was not composed by anyone, but angels sang it during an earthquake in the city, a vision of which was awarded to one of the children. Since then, it has been read at every Orthodox service.

It sounds like this:

"Holy God, holy strong, holy immortal, have mercy on us. It is read three times according to tradition." This is followed by the words: "Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And today and forever and forever and ever. Amen." It is called in everyday life "Glory and today".

Prayer to the Trinity

This is followed by another prayer read at each service. This is a short prayer to the Trinity.

"All-Holy Trinity, have mercy on us! Lord, cleanse us from our sins. O Lord, forgive us our iniquities. Holy One, descend to us and heal us from our weaknesses, for your name's sake. Lord, have mercy!" This is followed by "Glory and Today".

"Our Father"

The next prayer in order is the famous "Our Father". We will not cite the text of the prayer, since this is not necessary.

Closing prayers

A few more short texts follow at the very end. First, these are the so-called troparion and kontakion to the saint whose liturgy was served, that is, the saint who penned the text of the liturgy served. Since there are many liturgies, the troparia will also change. Therefore, we will not include them here.

At the very end, it reads twelve times "Lord, have mercy on us", "Glory to this day" and this text: "With honor surpassing cherubim and glory without comparison overshadowing the seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word in virginity, we worship you as the true Mother of God!" ...
