And fifteen to twenty minutes after boiling, add one and a half glasses of milk to the cereal, as well as (if desired) salt and sugar to taste. My cooking method:

1. Defrost vegetables, but not completely, so that you can cut them without breaking their shape.

2. Chop carrots and onions into cubes

3. Wash and soak both types of cereals for 2-3 hours (overnight is possible), rinse again

5. If there is a lot of liquid, put it in a colander and let it drain into a separate bowl (you get a small amount of excellent jelly!)

6. While the cereal is cooking, lightly fry the onions and carrots with spices in hot oil

7. Add the rest of the vegetables, mix and simmer under a closed lid over low heat until tender.

8. Add the prepared cereal, salt, mix, simmer for another 2-3 minutes and remove from heat

Porridge with vegetables - step by step recipe

To make porridge with vegetables you will need:

1. 2/3 cup (200 grams) buckwheat;

2. 1/3 cup (200 grams) rice cereal;

3. 1 zucchini;

4. 2 carrots;

5. 1 onion;

7. oil (unrefined sunflower, olive, or butter).

Makes about 4 servings.

1. Wash the zucchini, peel it, and cut it into small cubes. Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes.

2. Wash the carrots, peel them and grate them on a coarse grater.

3. It is better, of course, to cook porridge with vegetables in a double boiler, but you can also cook it in a saucepan on the stove. Let's boil the water. First, wash the buckwheat well, then the rice. Pour the cereal into the porridge container of a steamer, or into a saucepan. Makes only 1 cup of cereal.

4. We take 2.5 times more water, that is, fill the cereal with 2.5 glasses of boiling water.

5. Add chopped zucchini, onion, and grated carrots to the cereal. Add a little salt and stir. If we cook for a child under one year old, we do not add salt.

6. If we cook in a double boiler, turn it on for 40-50 minutes.

I have already talked about that. Well, today we have a cool porridge made from millet cereals with vegetables.

  • 1 cup millet cereal;
  • 3 glasses of water;
  • ½ tsp. salt;
  • 1 onion;
  • 1 carrot;
  • vegetable oil for frying;
  • broccoli, fresh or frozen;
  • 1 small beet;
  • spices and spices to taste.

The vegetable set for this dish may be different, focus on your preferences. For example, instead of broccoli, you can take cauliflower or Brussels sprouts. You don't have to add beets if you don't really like them. I just love beets, so I eat them often.

First you need to prepare the cereal. If the cereal is not very clean, then it needs to be sorted out to remove debris and unnecessary particles. Then the millet is washed 4-5 times in hot water. Pour the washed millet with hot water for 10 minutes.


Meanwhile, start frying the vegetables. In heated vegetable oil in a frying pan with thick walls or in a cauldron, first fry the chopped onions until soft. Then add chopped carrots to the onion and fry for a few more minutes over medium heat, stirring.

Next, add the diced beets and fry for another 2 minutes. Add millet to the fried vegetables, add salt and pour boiling water (3 cups). Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes. Then mix the porridge with vegetables and add broccoli.


Broccoli does not need long heat treatment, so we add it at the end of cooking. Set the heat to low and steam the porridge for another 15 minutes. Serve the finished millet porridge warm. Very tasty, I recommend it wholeheartedly! Have a nice meal.
