Wenge-colored kitchens have been very popular recently, and this is natural. This shade is an imitation of dark brown African wood, which looks very respectable, stylish, luxurious and solid.

Such material is devoid of unnecessary pretentiousness and its presence in the interior of the dwelling indicates the good taste of its owners. Wenge is aristocratic, classic, exotic and modern at the same time. This wood is distinguished by an incomparable, special shade, which has such qualities as strength, durability and texture.

Its synthetic analogue, significantly inferior in cost, practically does not differ from real wood. You can use this color when decorating floors, walls, furniture and even household appliances. It is ideal for furnishing all rooms in the house, including the kitchen.

What kitchen elements should be used for the design of wenge color

One of the advantages of wenge color is its versatility. You can use the shade when decorating any elements of the kitchen, in a variety of combinations.

Kitchen set is perhaps the most popular way to apply this warm African shade. A set made in this color should be laconic, austere and even ascetic.

You should abandon such decorative elements as gilding, bronze, carving, etc. The only accessories that will look harmonious with such furniture are metal fittings of strict lines.

Wenge is a rather dark color, the abundance of which in the interior can act depressingly on a person. Designers advise to combine it with lighter and warmer shades: milk, cream, caramel, ivory, eggshell and baked milk.

A good combination of wenge with burgundy, lilac, ash, powdery, raspberry and pale pink. If all facades of the headset are made in wenge color, then light shades should be selected for decorating the walls and floor.

Another option is to equip only the upper or lower facades in a wenge shade. It is also very important that household appliances go well with such a set. It is available in metallic, black or white.

Wenge shade kitchen apron - the headset looks good in the interior of the kitchen against the background of light work surfaces and warm shades. To equip such an apron, you can use ceramic tiles, mosaics, porcelain stoneware, wood panels (their artificial counterparts), as well as synthetic or natural stone. The floor in such a kitchen should also be furnished in the color of African wood.

Table top is a good choice for furnishing styles such as rustic, country and classic. The kitchen apron in this case should be light. The best materials for such a countertop are artificial or natural stone, wood.

Table and chairs - the ideal solution for a kitchen with a classic interior. As a material, you can use both natural solid wood and inexpensive MDF and chipboard. A dining table and chairs will look great, complete with a headset of the same shade. To prevent the kitchen from looking too dark and gloomy, the floor, ceiling and walls in it should be light in color.

Wallpaper - this option can only be used if the kitchen is spacious enough and has good lighting. In the color of wenge, you can equip only one wall, painting the other three in warm light tones (baked milk, ivory, cream).

Wallpaper must be washable. Another good option is a combination of smooth light wallpaper with textured decorative plaster of the same or darker shade. The floor can be arranged in wenge color by choosing one of its darkest options.

Curtains - such an element of the interior can be used if the kitchen is well lit, has an average size and is larger. When arranging the classic style, designers recommend choosing curtains made of thick fabric that fall to the floor.

They can be tied with a light or black satin ribbon. If the kitchen is small or made in the style of minimalism or high-tech, instead of ordinary curtains, you must use roman blinds or wenge-colored blinds.

Advice! A wenge-colored kitchen doesn't have to be classic or traditional. This shade is in perfect harmony with the African ethnic style, in its restrained and laconic version.

What are the shades

The following options should be attributed to the classic shades of wenge:

  • light wenge - the color of coffee with milk, with gray or beige shades;
  • dark wenge - the most common option, which can have a shade of dark chocolate, the color of natural coffee, as well as rich purple with a deep shade of dark chocolate;
  • milky wenge - a warm and light version, which is a mixture of beige and cream, this shade is ideally combined with both light and dark wenge options.

Professionals recommend choosing the most unusual combinations of wenge with other shades. If the homeowner is afraid to experiment, you should seek the help of designers. However, the advantage of wenge color is that it is in perfect harmony with almost all natural deep colors (except for acidic and overly bright).

You can place the necessary bright color accents in the kitchen with the help of muted orange, burgundy, dark green tones. They can be present in the interior in the form of porcelain, floor vases, textiles.

In a kitchen made in wenge color, an apron made of materials of brighter shades will look very beautiful and unusual. The only thing that should be avoided is the presence of ornaments and patterns in such an interior, as well as too ornate decorative elements.

What shades are best to combine wenge color in the interior of the kitchen

Wenge color and white shade - in this combination, the wenge color should be dark. This color combination is the most common in kitchens and other rooms. It is important that the white color acts as the main one and serves as a background for interior elements made in the shade of wenge.

Examples: white walls and ceilings, white countertops, wenge-colored furniture, and a dining table with chairs. Curtains can be either light or dark, depending on the size of the room, interior style and lighting.

Beige shade - a very good combination. Suitable for classic kitchen decoration. A set with lower facades in wenge color and upper beige facades will look very interesting. The floor in such a kitchen can be laid out of ceramic tiles of the same colors, in the form of a checkerboard. The walls should be painted beige, with curtains in a warm chocolate shade. The bases of the dining table and chairs can be dark, with beige countertops and seats.

Wenge and gray - for such a combination to look harmonious and interesting, it is best to choose wenge with a purple hue. Dark facades of the headset should be supplemented with a purple kitchen apron, the same curtains and other textiles. Gray walls are recommended to be made of decorative plaster. In gray (or metallic), you should pick up all household appliances.

Wenge and green - a very interesting and fresh combination that is perfect for arranging a kitchen in the style of Provence, rustic and shabby chic. It is important that the wenge in this case be as light as possible. An apron, decorative elements, a chandelier, curtains can be green.

Wenge and orange - for such a combination to look interesting and harmonious, the orange color should be muted. You can also choose a terracotta shade. Both tones will look good against a dark wenge background. The upper facades of the headset, chandelier, blinds or curtains can be orange. The floor and walls should have a fairly warm light shade.

Wenge and black - it is recommended to choose this option only if the kitchen is spacious enough and well lit. In this case, the color of wenge should be light. It acts as the main one and is the background for the black interior elements. Black in this case can be a self-leveling floor, facade elements and accessories.

Wenge and bleached oak - this option can also be attributed to the classic combinations that are great for arranging an elegant and strict kitchen. The shade of wenge can be either light or dark. To make a kitchen in such a color combination look really luxurious, it is recommended to give preference only to expensive natural materials (solid wood, stone).

Arrangement of a small kitchen in wenge color

In order for a modest-sized kitchen to have an attractive appearance, to be comfortable and cozy, to equip its interior it is necessary to choose the lightest shades of wenge. Dark tones can and should also be present, but only as decorative elements that set off the main light background.

The floor can be dark in such a room, the lower facades of the headsets can also be made in the shade of wenge (its warm chocolate version). The upper facades of the headset, like the walls, are best chosen in fairly light colors.

If the style of the kitchen is rustic or country, the windows can be decorated with light short beige curtains. For a classic kitchen, long light curtains of a cream or milky shade are more suitable.

If there is very little space, you can install a corner table in the room, or use a special folding tabletop attached to a wide window sill. Both the table and chairs should be as light as possible. To fill the kitchen with light and air, it is recommended to use glass and glossy surfaces.

A kitchen in wenge color is the ideal choice for people who value simplicity and luxury, tradition and innovation. This shade is ideal for furnishing small urban kitchens, spacious studio kitchens, and kitchens in country houses. It is chosen by people who have impeccable taste, who prefer comfort and who know a lot about true luxury. A kitchen in wenge color will never go out of fashion and will be relevant at all times.

Among the variety of color palettes in the design of kitchen facilities, the color scheme with the exotic name of wenge stands out. This is the only color to which all the overflows of brown belong - from roasting coffee with milk and golden yellow to deep, almost black, burgundy.

Large veins and a deliberately rough structure give the wood a special decorative effect. Wenge furniture clearly demonstrates its naturalness and luxury, and its warm glow gives the room a feeling of special comfort.

Why is wenge kitchen design so popular

Wenge wood came to us from the West African jungle, and due to its extraordinary characteristics has won recognition from designers and furniture manufacturers.

The main advantages of wenge lie in its qualities:

  • extreme density caused by the abundance of oily substances;
  • resistance to deformation, destruction and decay;
  • impervious to the action of fungus and mold;
  • resistance to changes in humidity, which is important for kitchens;
  • long service life and unpretentious care.

The value of wenge wood is not only in its rarity and special functional properties. The aesthetic significance of this material lies in the ability to refine any interior, to give it an exclusive and elite look.

Due to the high cost of the wenge solid wood, natural wood is used for the manufacture of luxury kitchen furniture. At the same time, veneer made of African wood is actively used in furniture production.

Veneer is a full-fledged analogue of natural wenge, retaining all its advantages.

Artificial film coatings in wenge color are a budget imitation of luxurious wood, which not only skillfully repeats the exquisite color scheme of the original, but also has moisture and steam resistant properties.

The design using wenge does not tolerate excessive pretentiousness and pomp, since furniture, facades and countertops of this color are absolutely self-sufficient.

It is hard to imagine a noble and aristocratic performance of wenge furniture sets with lurid vignettes or tasteless inserts.

Minimalism and austerity are the main trends in wenge-style kitchen design. Any excesses can only harm a noble tree.

Important! A kitchen decorated with wenge requires the right choice of wood colors. Classic tones of rich coffee are appropriate in a spacious kitchen, where you can repeat dark shades in the decoration of door and window openings. For limited space, light colors of natural wenge are suitable - milky, grayish, beige.

Chrome surfaces or frosted glass inserts can enhance the impression of wenge kitchen design.

When decorating, all materials are good that emphasize the natural splendor of valuable wood - natural stone, a combination with wood species contrasting in color.

Combination of wenge with other colors

The classic tandem of black and white colors is the most common option when decorating kitchens with wenge furniture.

The glow of a warm brown shade has not only an aesthetic advantage, but also tends to have a positive psychological effect, disposed to peace and comfort. The addition of light shades enlivens the kitchen, making it truly stylish and royal.

When combining wenge with other colors, as a rule, the law is respected: if the facades of the kitchen set are made in dark chocolate-lingonberry shades, then the floor and walls should be several shades lighter.

The color of wenge, which goes into a deep purple color scheme, is well adjacent to the cold light tints of a bluish-green range. If the wood is colored in mocha or dark cherry tones, then it would be wise to shade it with warm peach and orange colors.

The key task of wenge kitchen design is to emphasize the luxury of natural colors with other shades. It is important here not to overdo it in color matching. In most cases, only one contrasting shade is sufficient.

Harmony of wenge cuisine and bleached oak

Milk or bleached oak is a traditional partner of noble wenge in the interior. The light shade of oak subtly emphasizes the depth of the African wood color palette.

When decorating a kitchen, the set can be combined in color - the upper parts are made of bleached oak with wenge inserts, and the lower structure consists entirely of their dark elements.

Wenge and vanilla cuisine

The neutral vanilla color lends freshness to a wengo kitchen. Vanilla can be found in the decoration of the shelves and walls, countertops and hanging shelves.

The warm shade of vanilla harmoniously enlivens the austere nobility of the wenge color, highlighting the refined structure of African wood.

Combination with beige

Another classic partnership in kitchen design is the combination of beige tones with dark brutal wenge. Kitchen cabinets made of wenge wood unconditionally require the presence of a warm and cozy beige color, so necessary in the kitchen.

In addition, the light beige color of the walls and ceiling, repeated in the elements of the headset, visually increases the volume of the kitchen space.

Wenge kitchen and white gloss

The modern kitchen is filled with an abundance of household appliances - white glossy elements - the facades of the upper cabinets, countertops, and an apron - will help to successfully beat their presence in the wenge kitchen.

The gloss of the surfaces combined with elegant wenge will not create the feeling of a sterile operating room in the kitchen, but will significantly refresh and accentuate the deep dark wenge.

Stylish kitchens with an abundance of white gloss, metal and glass details, refined with exquisite wenge color - undoubtedly one of the most successful design solutions.

When we were doing repairs in the apartment, it so happened that the kitchen was the final link in our renovation. Therefore, we approached the renovation of the kitchen based on the style of the apartment.

Our kitchen is 7.2 square meters, so the design of the kitchen had to be thought out to the smallest detail in order to save space. We already had a six-compartment freezer located in another room, so we decided to purchase a single-compartment built-in refrigerator. This made it possible to install a built-in microwave oven and a spacious mezzanine above it.

Since the kitchen is small, the color scheme was chosen in soothing pastel colors. They immediately decided that the kitchen would not be monochrome. The color scheme was chosen almost at random from the proposed samples. And we still like it, we can assume that we have guessed right.

After reading many articles about choosing a material for making a kitchen and after going around dozens of stores, they settled on plastic in an aluminum frame. There were many doubts about the apron. At first we thought to sew up the wall with plastic, thought about removing it, but in the end we settled on a tile for an apron (as in this white kitchen 10.5 sq.m. with two entrances). There are also tiles on the floor.

In general, I like bright and juicy colors, especially orange. But since I believe that orange in a small kitchen will be aggressive and can quickly get bored (and I really wanted orange), chairs from orange leatherette were bought. A little later, mugs were bought in the color of the chairs.
