Specifications

Isospan B, C, D, DM characteristics:

When choosing vapor barrier materials, you need to pay attention to the following parameters:

  1. Water vapor permeability.
  2. Strength.
  3. Density.
  4. Water resistance.
  5. UV stability.

Isospan A has the highest vapor permeability (3000g / m2 / day), but it has the lowest water resistance (330 mm.WG), which makes it possible to use it only on roofs with an angle of inclination greater than 35 °. But nothing prevents you from using this material in.

Izospan AS and AD have a vapor permeability coefficient of 1000 and 1500 g / m 2 / day, respectively, but they are favorably distinguished by a water resistance indicator - 1000 mm.w.st. As a result, they have become the main materials used in roof insulation.

If it is expected that the roof will remain uncovered for some period of time, it is necessary to use Isospan AQ proff. He alone has UV stability for 12 months.

Isospan D's best tensile load is 1068/890 N / 5cm, but it has the lowest vapor permeability - 3.7 g / m2 / day. This allows the material to be used as a temporary roof for 3-4 months.

Isospan B has a vapor permeability of 22 g / m2 / day, and a rupture rate of only 130/170 N / 5cm. In this regard, it is necessary to involve qualified specialists in its installation and not leave the material in the open air.

Izospan C is an intermediate option.

Features of the

  1. Polypropylene film with a smooth top and fleecy bottom. The villi are necessary to trap condensing moisture and prevent it from rolling onto finishing materials. Installed in front of the insulation in such structures:
    • insulated roof;
    • walls;
    • overlapping;
  2. Laminated canvas with a smooth and fleecy side. Due to the increased density, the field of application of this material is expanding. It is used:
    • On unheated roofs, as moisture insulation.
    • In ceilings (including above basements and attics), as a vapor barrier.
    • In floor structures.
    • In a concrete screed, as a hydro-barrier.
  3. Polypropylene fabric laminated with a film. Izospan D is widely used as:
    • Additional moisture insulation on unheated roofs.
    • Vapor barriers for any structures requiring protection from water vapor.
    • Waterproofing layer in the screed.
    • Temporary roof.
  4. Diaphragms marked A, AS, AM, AQ proff protect the insulation from getting wet, weathering and drain condensate from the roofing or wall cake into the drainage system. Benefits of using:
    • Remains of moisture trapped in the insulation layer from the room are easily removed.
    • The probability of penetration of atmospheric precipitation into the thermal insulation material is minimized.
    • It becomes impossible to weather the mineral wool.
  5. Membrane A.The polypropylene membrane has a smooth water-repellent side and a rough, condensate-retaining side. A membrane of this type has a low coefficient of water resistance, therefore its main purpose is to protect the insulation on the facade.
  6. Izospan AS, AM, AQ proff.AS, AM are a membrane made of a vapor-permeable material and a dense, air-tight backing. Used to protect:
    • Frame-type walls.
    • Ventilated facades.
    • Insulated roof.
  7. Heat-reflecting vapor barriers FB, FD, FS, FX trap in the room the smallest particles of moisture and radiant energy. Advantages of using thermal insulation reflective films:
    • Heat loss through the building envelope is reduced.
    • Heating costs are reduced.
    • Eliminates the likelihood of mold formation in wet rooms;
  8. Steam barrier FB.Izospan FB is made of kraft paper, which is covered with a layer of metallized lavsan. Due to the fact that the material is environmentally friendly and can withstand temperatures up to + 120 ° C, it is used to insulate walls, roofs and saunas.
  9. Vapor barrier FD, FS. Izospan FD, FS is a polypropylene film reinforced with a metallized layer. Isospan FD uses a D-grade vapor barrier film as a base layer, while FS uses a B-grade vapor barrier. Manufacturers recommend using the described vapor barrier for interior decoration:
    • steam room;
    • attics;
    • as a heat-reflecting screen;
  10. This material is polyethylene foam backed up with a metallized film. Polyethylene with a layer of bubbles is an excellent heat and sound insulator, and the metallized layer prevents heat leakage, retains steam and water. Izospan FX is the most cost-effective, safe and durable steam, noise and heat insulator. Its disadvantage is the maximum operating temperature - + 90 ° С, which makes it impossible to use it in steam rooms. It is actively used as:
    • Substrates when installing a warm floor.
    • Reflective screen for.
    • Insulation for mansard roofs in tandem with classic materials.

It is possible to use reflective films to insulate walls and ceilings only in rooms with forced ventilation, since these materials have a zero vapor permeability index.

Installation

Isospan installation scheme on an insulated roof

To lay the material you will need:

  • roulette;
  • hammer;
  • construction stapler;
  • nails;
  • wooden slats;
  • scotch;

Isospan laying on the roof:

  1. Roof insulation begins with fixing the vapor barrier film (B, C, D) to the structural frame or to the rough skin.
  2. Fix the material with staples or galvanized nails. For additional sealing, the seams are fastened with special tape isospan SL or KL.
  3. The sheets are rolled horizontally in the bottom-up direction. An overlap of 15-18 mm is made between adjacent canvases.
  4. During installation, you need to monitor the tight fit of the film to the insulation.
  5. Over insulation A, AS, AM, AQ proff.
  6. Isospan A is fastened with antiseptic locks to the raftersnails or self-tapping screws, so that a gap of 5 mm is formed. Izospan AS, AM, AQ proff, on the contrary, should fit snugly to the insulation. Therefore, it is attached to the rafters with staples or galvanized nails.
  7. Installation starts from the bottom of the slopes. Along the overhang of the ramp, the membrane is inserted into the gutter. The canvas is rolled horizontally, making sure that there are no distortions. It is important to secure the material with an interference fit. The permissible sagging is no more than 2 cm. The canvases should overlap each other by 15 cm horizontally, and 20 cm vertically.
  8. So that condensation can evaporate, in the area of \u200b\u200bthe ridge and in the lower part of the roof, ventilation holes are provided.
  9. Over the vapor barrier membrane mount the crate.

Izospan will perform its function only if it is properly laid. The fleecy side of the material should face the room, and the smooth side should face the insulation.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that Isospan A is the most affordable material, but its installation, due to the need to create a ventilation gap, is more expensive than the cost of stronger and more durable analogues.

Wall insulation:

  1. For ventilated facades Isospan A and AM are suitable. In cases where there is a likelihood of fire, use a material with OZD.
  2. The membrane is fixed over the insulation with the smooth side out. The sheets are rolled out so that there is an overlap of 10 cm.
  3. Isospan is fastened along the building frame with staples. On top of the vapor-permeable membrane, locks are vertically fixed, on which the facing material is attached. To prevent the effect of acoustic pops from appearing during operation, there should be no loose and sagging sections along the entire length of the canvas.
  4. To remove moisture, the design necessarily provides for a ventilation gap in the lower part of the skin. Izospan is placed in such a way that the moisture accumulated under the sheathing drains into the drainage system.

Vapor barrier is used to protect various structures from moisture and condensation, as well as steam. Thanks to the use of appropriate materials, it will be possible to extend the durability of the structure and prevent the formation of mold and mildew. Many manufacturers produce special membrane films for this purpose. So, isospan vapor barrier is very popular.

Specifications and types

Isospan vapor barrier is membrane with increased water resistance, which can be laid in all weather conditions. After vapor barrier, the building structure will last several times longer. At the same time, a comfortable microclimate will remain in the room.

In fact, isospan is not only a steam, but also a waterproofing. Accordingly, the material should be installed on roofs and in saunas. In other words, we are talking about those cases when a higher temperature and a high level of humidity are required in the room. Although such a membrane is quite expensive, it will become a truly indispensable element.

There are many types of vapor barrier on sale, which have their own advantages and features.

  • Izospan A - vapor-permeable membraneprotecting walls, roofs, facades and ceilings from condensation. At the same time, evaporation occurs inside the "cake", so that water will not damage the structure itself.
  • Izospan V is a two-layer universal vapor barrier, which is usually used only indoors. With the help of such material, you can protect the roof, walls, basement and attic. Izospan B can be used as a heater. This is due to the fact that the material has a high density.
  • Izospan S is a two-layer membrane with hydro-vapor barrier characteristics... Such material is laid in attics, as well as on non-insulated roofs.
  • Izospan D - a membrane that provides reliable vapor barrier any building structures. The material is used in the construction of concrete foundations, plinths and floors.
  • Izospan AM is a high-strength material made of membrane film... Its feature is protection against mechanical damage. It is customary to lay the material directly on the heat insulator, which will protect it from steam and condensation.

Other varieties

On sale you can find less common types of vapor barrier.

Instructions for the use of isospan

When using this material, the specific modification must be considered. If we talk about Isospane B, then with its help walls, roofs and ceilings are insulated. As a rule, the film is laid on top of the insulation. In this case, it is necessary to adhere to a certain sequence:

Thanks to such a vapor barrier, you will be able to avoid the penetration of moisture or insulation particles into the room.

Izospan S differs significantly from other vapor barrier materials the possibility of using in the construction of roofs with a slope of less than 35˚... Thanks to this vapor barrier, an optimal microclimate is maintained in unheated attics. There is no condensation on the walls and ceilings of the basement floors, which means there is no mold or unpleasant odor.

This modification is laid as follows:

If the roof slope is small, the modification is laid on a boardwalk fixed to the rafters.

General instructions for self-installation of the vapor barrier

Izospan is an insulating film coating. The main purpose of the film is to ensure the preservation of the original characteristics of thermal insulation throughout the entire service life. Roof vapor barrier isospan

Izospan A

The membrane, like a check valve, freely passes water vapor from the side of the thermal insulation. Does not interfere with the natural ventilation of the insulation. On the other hand, it reliably blocks the penetration of moisture from the external atmosphere, prevents the formation of condensation, and prevents the wind from destroying the structure of the insulation.

Due to the water resistance of the material from the outside, membranes are widely used in the construction of roofing structures, are widely used as protection for walls and ventilated facades of buildings and structures for any purpose.

D waterproofingthe property possessed by isospan membrane prolongs the service life of thermal insulation for a long time. Even the best insulation deteriorates over time under the influence of the wind, application Izospan Ais the perfect solution to protect your home from the outside.

In a nutshell, we will clarify which side to lay on the insulation Izospan A.The question of which side of Isospan A should be laid is far from idle. As we noted, its work is carried out according to the principle of a check valve. Or, if you want: - let everyone out, not let anyone in. It is necessary to lay the membrane from the outside, on top of the insulation.

The smooth side that can be easily identified by touch should “look” towards the street. The roll is cut into wide strips of suitable size, after which it is neatly spread over the area with an overlap with the next layer.

Roof vapor barrier

The roof waterproofing and vapor barrier starts from the bottom. When laying Isospan A membranes, contact with the thermal insulation material should be avoided. Touching the membrane will significantly reduce its waterproofing properties.

Probably those who went on a hike with their grandfather's canvas tent, noticed that if during the rain you run your finger on the “roof” from the inside, then literally in 10 minutes, it will drip in this place. It is for this reason that Izospan A can only be laid with a double crate.

Isospan flooring is carried out outside the thermal insulation on the battens made of battens. The use of a membrane increases the degree of insulation and prolongs the service life of the entire structure.

It is extremely important to control the absence of possible swelling or sagging during operation. Otherwise, you will become a constant listener to gusts of wind with the characteristic sounds of the membrane beating on the roof. Thin slats are enough to fix Isospan A, leaving 2-3 centimeters of free space to the insulation.

Izospan V

As we found out, Izospan A firstly protects from the wind, and secondly, it will create a powerful hydro-barrier for the insulation. The danger remains in the form of condensation, wetting of the insulation - condensate, which, before passing through the membrane in the form of vapor, will saturate the thermal insulation with moisture.

Humidification by only 5%, will lead to a decrease in thermal insulation performance by half. A further perspective is the penetration of condensate onto the metal tile, with the subsequent transformation of the roof into a colander.

Anti-condensation surface combined with steam and waterproofing effectwill save you from such troubles. Carrying out installation work on the arrangement of the roof, one must clearly understand that even the best insulation for the roof is gradually saturated with water vapor.

Creating a barrier to inner vapors -Izospan V will serve as a kind of vapor barrier. The material consists of two layers, a layer with a smooth structure adjoins the insulation during installation, the second fleecy side is designed to absorb condensate.

That is why, the installation of the coating is always done with the fleecy side down with a gap to the finishing materials, for ventilation and drying. Type B is laid with an overlap with a grip of at least 10 centimeters from the side of the insulation and fixed with a construction stapler or in another way.

Izospan S

The structure of the material combines two layers: on one side a smooth surface, on the other - a fleecy. The fleecy layer retains condensation and subsequent weathering. Izospan S creates a vapor barrier for the insulation, preventing the absorption of vapors of water particles formed inside the room.

The material is widely used in the construction of walls, installation of insulated, inclined roofs and interfloor ceilings. P aro-waterproofing using type C, it is equipped in various cement screeds, and instructures of flat roofs.

In a word, in terms of structure and characteristics, the material is very similar to type B. At the same time, it has an increased margin of safety and therefore reliabilitysuperdense panels above. Buy Izospan C will cost the consumer more than type B by about 50-60%.

Characteristics of Isospan Type C:

  • 100% polypropylene;
  • Applicable temperature range -60 - +80 ° C;
  • Breaking load: longitudinal // transverse. H // 5cm not less than 197/119
  • Vapor tight
  • water resistance not less: 1000 mm of water column

Application of isospan C:

  1. Inclined roof with an overlap of at least 15 cm
  2. Attic floor protection. A layer of vapor barrier, spread on top of the insulation, with the smooth side down;
  3. Concrete floor. spreads on a concrete surface, smooth side down;
  4. Wooden floors of horizontal design.

The flooring of the canvas on inclined roofs should be done from the bottom up. The material overlaps about 15 centimeters.

Overlapping joints in order to avoid depressurization are glued together with a special tape, sticky to the spirit of the sides, like double-sided tape.

The structure is fastened with 5 cm thick slats. A gap of at least 5 centimeters is left between the roof tile and the vapor barrier layer, it is necessary for natural ventilation.

Izospan C is spread on top of the insulation, it is necessary to leave a gap of about 50 millimeters from the panel to the heat-insulating material for ventilation. In the construction of a concrete floor, type C is laid with an overlap on the concrete surface, then a cement screed is laid on the canvas, and only after that the floor covering is mounted.

Izospan D

High strength, fully waterproof waterproofing material. Polypropylene sheet with one-sided laminated polypropylene coating. The versatility of moisture-vapor-proof material implies widespread use in construction technologies for the construction of any type of structure.

Izospan D successfully withstands moderately strong mechanical loads, is tear-resistant, withstands strong gusts of wind, and in winter it copes with a large snow load. In comparison with other similar films, Izospan D has gained fame as the most durable and reliable option.

Izospan D Scope

In all types of roofs, as a barrier to prevent the formation of under-roof condensation. Widespread use in the device hydro and vapor barrier during the construction of buildings and structures. Protection of wooden structures.The material largely resists negative atmospheric phenomena.

Izospan D is often used at construction sites as a temporary roof overlap and installation of a protective wall in facilities under construction. Such a roof or wall can last up to four months.

Type D is especially popular when installing concrete floors that need protecting against earth moisture.

Application

  1. In non-insulated roofs as protection for wooden structures;
  2. As protection against under-roof condensation;
  3. Protection against negative atmospheric phenomena;
  4. In the arrangement of basement floors;
  5. Installation of concrete floors.

Recently, more and more owners of country houses understand the importance of the role played by vapor barrier materials, the ever-growing demand is a strong confirmation of this.

Izospan D is spread directly directly on the rafters directly on the insulated surface of the pitched roof. In this case, the layers of material are the same and you do not have to be puzzled which side of the insulation to lay Izospan. Installation is carried out horizontally, with an overlap, the rolls are cut into sheets of the required size quite easily.

The work is carried out from the lower roof element and gradually follows in the direction towards the top. Joints, in the process of laying, are glued with SL tape like double-sided tape.

The surface gluing on both sides connects two canvases of vapor - waterproofing. The wall-mounted isospan is fixed on the rafters with wooden slats or staples for a construction stapler.

Summing up our review, it remains to add that the manufacturer produces 14 types of such roll insulation. We have considered only four main types. The buyer, guided by the characteristics of different types, always has the opportunity to buy Izospan just for his needs.

In addition, the manufacturer does not stand still and constantly expands the range of products, for example, there is a version of the film with fire retardant additives.

From our review it is clear that working with the material does not require complex special skills and is within the power of almost any man. Ease of use and low installation costs make this building material a wide range of uses.

The vapor barrier material will fully take over the functions that will ensure the reliability and long service life of your home and industrial insulation.

Modern construction requires innovative integrated approaches at all stages, including the arrangement of wind and vapor control. Reliable protection of the structure from wind and moisture is impossible without materials belonging to well-known brands in the construction world. Izospan is one of the new generation building materials used at construction sites throughout the country.

What is Izospan?

A person, for the first time faced with the construction of any structure, begins to analyze the building materials on the market. Questions arise about Izospan: what is it, what is it for, what are its features?

Izospan vapor barrier is currently represented by a fairly wide range of films and membranes. They are designed to increase the life of thermal insulation in various types of buildings. At the moment there are more than 14 of them. All brands can be divided into 4 large groups: A, B, C, D. They include many varieties, each of which has its own characteristics.

Applications

All varieties of this building material are designed to isolate structural elements from moisture, wind or steam. It is used to protect all structural elements: roofs and facades, walls and floors, floors. Izospan's properties allow it to be used both in small construction and large construction projects. The specific scope of application depends on the variety.

Application Izospana A makes it possible to protect the internal parts of structures and thermal insulation from moisture, excluding the accumulation of condensate. These membranes are impervious to moisture and wind on one side, and the other side allows you to remove water vapor. It is mounted on the outside of the insulation elements. How this is done can be seen in the photo and video.

main feature Izospana B - vapor permeability. The structure of the coating differs depending on its purpose. The side that will be mounted to the inside of the insulation is smooth. And the part that will face the room has the smallest villi. These fibers will retain moisture. It is used to protect interior walls, insulated roofs, floors, interfloor or attic floors.

Reviews indicate that Izospan S in many ways it is similar to the previous version, but it is more reliable. Therefore, it has a higher price. It is based on an ultra-dense polypropylene sheet, capable of effectively protecting structural elements from capillary moisture, steam, condensate. This type of product is used to protect the roof of the "cold" type, frame walls, ceilings in wet rooms. This material is able to insulate building structures from the negative effects of the atmosphere, even from snow in places where roofing elements are not tightly joined.

Specifications Izospana D allow us to classify it as a universal variety, capable of protecting both from internal influences and from external ones. It is used in the arrangement of flat and pitched non-insulated roofs, floors, foundations, basement floors. Differs in special durability, UV resistance.

Features of the new varieties

Relatively new developments are such varieties as Rs and RM... The difference between these films is that they are reinforced with a polypropylene mesh. This makes it possible not only to serve as protection against steam, moisture, but also to withstand the breaking stress.

Stamp materials FS, FD, FB and Fx supplemented by the ability to use infrared radiation to enhance thermal insulation. This is a great opportunity to develop energy conservation. But they have drawbacks. These varieties do not provide for the passage of steam, so they can be installed exclusively in rooms with mechanical ventilation.

Izospan materials are used to isolate surfaces from moisture. They demonstrate the required level of fire safety and, in addition, help to retain heat inside the room. The consumer is presented with a wide selection of products that have the properties necessary for organizing high-quality insulation.

Properties

When waterproofing, Izospan is mounted directly on the rafters to protect the insulation from moisture accumulation. Also, a vapor barrier film is used for thermal insulation of attic floors, ceilings, and walls of premises. On wooden structures, in order to insulate them from the outside, a vapor-permeable membrane is applied. Before buying a film, you need to understand what types the market offers in terms of characteristics and purpose. The assortment includes roll materials from nonwoven fabrics produced in accordance with GOST. The differences in the supplied product can be traced not only in their density, but also in the structure.

Non-woven fabric membrane (to create a vapor-permeable barrier) is intended for external insulation of roofs and wall structures. The material protects against moisture and wind. In addition, the diffusion film has a different function - it does not condense moisture inside the wall structure. Class A Izospan does not allow water to pass through, it is easy to handle and is able to withstand different temperature loads, which makes it possible to increase the service life of buildings. In addition, it perfectly protects them from dampness, decomposition, mold and corrosion.

This material is worth buying due to its high resistance to negative factors, strength and excellent technical characteristics. It can withstand power loads and not lose shape, as well as withstand the influence of ultraviolet rays. The ease of installation will also please: the user will be able to independently install the barrier using the minimum amount of available tools. Izospan A is used to protect basements and attics. Its density is 110 grams per square meter. It is produced in rolls 140 cm wide and 50 meters long.

General specifications:

  • excellent strength;
  • elasticity;
  • is not a source of harmful substances;
  • can handle high pressure.

The material can withstand temperature drops from - 60 to + 80 degrees. The composition contains refractory particles that give it unique properties. Izospan A is a type of membrane that protects the surface of walls and ceilings from moisture condensation. Tensile strength - 190/140 mm, UV resistance - 3-4 months.

When installed on a roof, the material is cut into wide strips and applied in such a way that a smooth surface remains on the outside. Installation starts from the bottom of the roof. At the same time, when working with Izospan, one should not allow contact with it, since the waterproofing properties in this case are significantly reduced.

The product is made from pure polypropylene. It does not absorb moisture, therefore, it is permissible to use a membrane for insulating residential and industrial buildings.

Due to its properties, Izospan guarantees long-term protection of wood from decay, and metal - from corrosion. It is especially important to use the material in regions with harsh climatic conditions, as well as increased wind loads.

The membrane perfectly restrains not only moisture, but also guarantees the absence of a draft (if it was installed in compliance with the requirements of building codes). The membrane has a simple principle of moisture removal to the outside: a rough surface collects steam generated in the room, after which it seeps out through the existing microperforation. The back is smooth, so the drops either roll down or evaporate.

That is why it is so important to correctly lay the material without confusing the sides: the rough surface of the film should always be inside, that is, it should be turned towards the room or insulation. If this requirement is not met, then the membrane will not work effectively.

Advantages and disadvantages

Material advantages:

  • strength;
  • reliability;
  • comes with flame retardants;
  • multifunctionality;
  • environmental Safety;
  • ease of installation;
  • vapor permeability;
  • resistance to high temperatures (suitable for use even in bathrooms and saunas).

Due to its structure, Izospan prevents the penetration of condensate into walls and insulation, protecting their structure from the formation of fungus and mold. Many positive reviews have ensured the popularity of the material for many years. Izospan A is a film membrane impermeable to air and moisture. Its use reduces drafts, prevents moisture ingress and helps to improve the quality of the indoor atmosphere. No additional primer is required prior to laying the membrane on most building surfaces.

Isopan A is an innovative material that has components in its composition, thanks to which it can be used on surfaces with elevated temperatures. This is important in the construction of the roofs of baths and saunas. Unique properties allow to extend the construction season and ensure year-round construction of buildings in areas with cold climates.

The product can withstand up to 12 months of direct exposure to UV radiation while maintaining the integrity required for long term construction projects. The material is lighter in weight than competitive products. This property is indispensable when you need to reduce the load on the structure. Long sections of web can be installed to increase the speed of work on site. The vapor barrier is installed horizontally or vertically, always with a 5 centimeter crossing of the canvases.

Overlapping installation avoids drafts. The membrane is compatible with various building materials such as gypsum, plywood, OSB, cement board, concrete, CMU, sealant. You can save on the level of heat consumption, which allows you to install and use heating equipment in smaller rooms. Energy costs can be reduced by as much as 40%. The risk of mold and mildew growth is also reduced.

Among the main disadvantages, it is worth highlighting:

  • poor moisture resistance;
  • small area of \u200b\u200bapplication.

If too much water accumulates on the surface of the film, moisture will begin to roll inward. You should not use a single-layer film for the roof. In this case, a multilayer membrane is best suited. The manufacturer's instructions indicate that Izospan A can be used in the roof structure, but it is desirable that the slope does not exceed 35 degrees. You should not purchase the material if you plan to have a metal roof covering.

Application area

  • Manufacturers offer a wide range of materials. All types of Izospan differ in density, as a result of which they can be both laid on the floor of a frame house and used in the construction of the roof.
  • Izospan is one of the most popular types of insulation due to its price and unique properties. It is suitable for walls, ceiling and basement floors, attics and attics. The hydrophobic sheet is widely used as a waterproofing layer on earth floors, cement screeds in wet rooms and as a windscreen. Vapor barrier is one of the main advantages of the material.

  • The moisture-proof membrane can be used in the construction of a warm floor. The windproof function has significantly expanded the scope of the material. Depending on the operating conditions, it may be necessary to create a ventilation gap of 40–50 mm, due to which moisture escapes. A feature of the canvas is the ability to reflect thermal radiation.
  • The roll material is water resistant, durable and easy to install, and easy to use in the attic. It is widely used as a roofing vapor barrier for pitched roofs and partitions. At the preliminary stage of erection of the roof, the plates are installed between the rafters. The second layer of the film overlaps the upper one by 15–20 cm without tension.

The operating instructions for Izospan indicate the basic requirements for the use of the material.

  • It is advisable to avoid adhesion of the strips to the ridge edge.
  • A ventilation gap (50 mm) must be created, which provides an air flow that helps to weather the moisture.
  • All connections are sealed with sealing tape.

Izospan with the AF marking is distinguished by the presence of ignition protection, therefore it is used in flammable rooms. The presence of the letters AM means a three-layer film structure capable of protecting the building structure from any external influences.

AQ-labeled material can be found commercially. It is this film that has the maximum insulation properties.

Subtleties of installation

Before using Izospan film, it is necessary to check the insulation of the gaps between the insulation blocks, in case of detection - to eliminate the deficiencies. Seal the contact points of the membrane with structural elements, for example, with windows. For vapor barrier walls, Izospan A is used from the outside of the building, and Izospan B is used from the inside. During the construction of walls, Izospan A is laid in layers on their surface. The work is carried out from the bottom up. Fixation is done with a stapler. In this case, it is necessary to exclude the sagging of the canvas, otherwise, with a strong wind load on the facade, unnecessary noise (clapping) may appear.

During the installation of the roof, the material is cut directly on the rafters above the thermal insulation. Laying is done horizontally. Start at the bottom of the roof. Fastening is done with nails (sometimes self-tapping screws). It is recommended (but not necessary) to leave a space of about 5 cm between the underside of Izospan and the insulation, and a gap between the membrane and the roof, the width of which is usually equal to the size of the rail.

As noted above, the placement of Izospan begins from the bottom row with horizontal stripes. The overlap must be at least 10 cm. Places of contact between the film and the surface must be glued with mounting tape. This method is suitable for veneering wood.

It is very important to lay the material with the right side facing the insulation. Before installation, you must carefully read the instructions for use of the canvas. For external insulation of roofs and facades of buildings, it is necessary to use the brands Izospan AND, AM, AS, which provide the necessary protection.

Different variations of Izospan A also have different material densities. For model A it is 110 g / m², for AM - 90 g / m². The AS model has a figure of 115 g / m², and the highest density for the AQ proff is 120 g / m². To create a high-quality hydro and vapor barrier, experts recommend using an additional Izospan V.

The installation scheme depends on the purpose of the structure. If this is an inclined roof without insulation, then the main structure is mounted, then a vapor barrier layer, and then a wooden flooring.

In the attic, first the floors are laid, then the vapor barrier, followed by the insulation and slats, and lastly - the beam. When using a membrane on a concrete floor, at the first stage, a base is created, then a screed, a film is laid on it and then only a finishing finish. If you want to achieve good results, you must strictly follow the manufacturer's recommendations, observe the subtleties of using Isopan material and be sure to take into account the features of the surface on top of which the film layer will be laid.
