How to connect a network cable to an outlet. Connection of Internet outlets Legrand, Loop (diagram). Video: connecting a Legrand Internet outlet

After the appearance on the Russian market of Internet sockets from Legrand, the obligatory need to invite a master to connect it disappeared.

The procedure has been greatly simplified and is feasible even in the absence of a special tool, a screwdriver and wire cutters are enough.

Of course, the presence of a special tool makes the task even easier, this and other issues related to connection are described in detail in the illustrated manual below.

Preparatory activities

For experienced people, the study of the first section of this manual is optional. The material included in the preparatory activities is aimed at beginners. Therefore, advanced users can immediately proceed directly to the procedure for connecting an Internet outlet, described starting from the second section of this manual.

So, the cable from the Internet provider, which enters from the entrance to the subscriber's home, in the vast majority of cases has 4 pairs intertwined with each other, which is why the nickname "twisted pair" stuck to the wire.

Each wire in pairs has its own insulation color.

They are inserted into the Legrand outlet connector and crimped. It should be noted that this is the most difficult and crucial stage of all stages of installation.

If you make a mistake at this stage and confuse the wiring, then the outlet will not work. At the preliminary stage, it is recommended to practice on a simple jack, this will not take a significant amount of time, but will allow the beginner to gain invaluable experience that will help, without damaging the outlet, correctly mount it on the first try.

In addition, a cable with a jack is in any case necessary for the user when connecting, for example, a computer. The jack itself costs a penny and it’s not a pity to damage it at the training stage, which cannot be said about the Internet outlet.

There are a couple of basic steps you need to take:

Correct wiring arrangement

There are two main types of wiring pinouts: “A” and “B”, but in most cases “B” is used, so a simple home user only needs to study the second order of the location of the cores.

If you correctly connect all the wires, then there will be no problems with the outlet from the legrand company. The figure below shows the pinout diagrams.

Four-pair cables are ubiquitous, that is, containing 8 colored wires (there may be another additional thin wire for screening, but if it is, then it can be simply bent to the side after removing the insulation so as not to interfere).

However, there are also two-pair ones, which have a lower throughput. In this case, the pinout will be as shown in the figure below.

In any case, the jack is used eight-pin.

crimping

It is necessary to carefully, without damaging the color insulation of thin wires, remove the cable sheath (usually 5-6 centimeters are enough).

Next, you need to unwind and straighten the pairs of wires. Then arrange them according to type "B" and cut off the ends with wire cutters as shown in the photo below.

It is recommended to place the jack next to the wires, so it will immediately become clear how long the ends should be left (about 1 cm).

After that, enter them into the jack. In this case, the connector is located with the latch down (the latch is a latch that does not allow the jack to fall out of the Legrand socket after it is installed).

All colored wires must be placed in individual grooves and the jack must be installed in the socket of the special tongs.

Holding the wire with one hand, use the other to bring the special handles together. tool together (you don’t need to apply a lot of force, if the installation is done correctly, then the tool handles come together almost effortlessly).

Note: When the pincer handles are too tight or crackling, the jack must be pulled out of the tool and checked for correct installation.

After bringing together the handles of the special tongs, the insulation will be cut off, and the jack will have reliable contacts for connection.

Internet socket connection procedure

With the connection of the Legrand outlet, rarely anyone has difficulties, since the design has been improved and tested for many years. For example, in the outlet of the Legrand Valena model, the connectors are located immediately under the front cover.

The following sequential steps are required:

Since Legrand produces various types of sockets, each user selects the best option for specific conditions. Of course, the installation and fastening, for example, of an internal outlet is different from an external one, but the connection principles are similar.

Modern ethics allow mounting sockets not only on the walls of rooms, but even on furniture. The variety of colors and designs of sockets produced by the company allows you to quickly choose the right option for your office or living room.

How to connect a conventional type connector?

Connect according to one of the 2 types: "A" or "B", described in the first paragraph of this manual. But in most cases, type "B" is used in the Russian Federation.

To get to the connector, you will need to disassemble the socket, however, in Legrand this process is structurally simplified and is completed in a matter of seconds. Inside, the user will see a color coding for connection. It is required, having removed the insulation from the cable and laid the wires, guided by the colors, crimp the cores.

If the excess length of the wires protrudes beyond the cover, then armed with wire cutters, they will need to be cut off. Next, the socket is inserted into the seat and screwed tightly.

How to connect a connector that provides for quick installation?

The connection scheme of the connector is no different from a conventional outlet, but the method of mounting the outlet is different.

Behind such an outlet are latches that turn to the left. Then remove the connector. Connect the cable wires according to the standard scheme.

After the procedure for cutting off the excess length of the wires, insert the connector into the socket and turn to the right, which will lead to crimping and obtaining good contacts.

Technical points of wiring and socket installation

The main problem with the task of connecting an outlet is laying a cable to it around the apartment. A lot of separate materials on the Internet are devoted to this issue, so it is not advisable to load the instructions with unnecessary details.

The main point that is recommended to be taken into account is the wiring to the destination separately from the power lines. However, this is often not possible, and in these cases such a design is acceptable, but with a shielding wire.

As described in the first section of this manual, that is, in the preparatory activities, you first need to remove the insulation from the end of the cable (5-6 cm).

Sockets "Legrand" are disassembled according to the same principle. For example, "Legrand celiane" also has a twist latch. As a result, the socket is disassembled into 3 components:

  1. Fastening;
  2. Module;
  3. Lid.

The connector is located inside the element numbered "2".

To get to it, you need to turn the latch to the left, after which it can be easily removed. Enter wiring type "B". In order to check the correct location of the contacts, it is convenient to use the jack, which is prepared as a result of the execution of preparatory measures.

It is inserted into the connector and called with a multimeter.

The device can be used cheap Chinese. Even it will allow you to get error-free results.

Before starting the installation, it is required to insert the wire into the mount (even experienced installers often forget to do this, which leads to a loss of time and nerves for re-wiring).

Although in most sockets from other manufacturers this is allowed to be done later, but Legrand does not provide for this in devices.

Then insert the latch and fix by turning, applying a little effort.

Cut off the excess ends and assemble an internet outlet.

At the final stage, fix the cover.

Insert a jack into the finished product, for example, a patch cord coming from the router, and check the connection.

After making sure that the outlet is working properly, put on a decorative cover and enjoy surfing the Internet.

Conclusion

A beginner will find the procedure lengthy and time-consuming, but the time it takes to complete the steps in this guide takes less time than it takes to read.

Tool used to crimp twisted pair

RJ-45 wire crimping (instruction)

In order to properly crimp the RJ-45 wire, follow these steps:

Using pliers, we bite off a piece of cable necessary to accomplish the goal (necessarily at a right angle), so that the conductors are in a level position.

Carefully remove the outer insulating layer by approximately 2.5–3.5 cm.

We select the cores by color in accordance with the crimping scheme selected earlier. In order to do this, you first need to unwind the wires and align them, and then lay them out side by side in the correct sequence and press them together as tightly as possible. At the end of this step, we bite off the ends of the wires using pliers (crimmer), at a distance of about 10–15 mm from the edge of the insulation.

Options for sorting wires in a twisted pair cable

Slowly and very carefully put the connector on the cable. We constantly monitor the conductors and in no case allow them to enter the connector in the wrong sequence (otherwise the system will not function!). Gently push the wires until they are firmly seated in the connector.

Video: twisted pair crimping with special tools

At the same time, not always and not everyone may have the tool necessary for twisted pair at hand, so there is another type of crimping - using a flat screwdriver.

Crimping the cable using a flathead screwdriver

We repeat the steps similar to the previous method (cut off the cable, clean the outer insulating layer).

We select the electrical circuit and sort the wires.

We shorten the conductors to the desired size.

Carefully insert the connector.

Turn the connector over so that the latch is at the bottom and the contacts are at the top. We put it on a flat surface so that with its edges the connector rests on some kind of base, while the latch must remain free (to avoid possible damage).

Take a screwdriver and gently press on the connector. We repeat this action until you see that it does not protrude from the connector housing, when this happens the cable will be securely fixed in the housing.

Carefully press the screwdriver in the contact area and drown them down. We carefully look so that they pass through the insulating layer and are fixed in the conductive core.

How to connect an outlet for the Internet: installation instructions

Installation and connection is the final stage of creating a computer network, but before proceeding with it, carry out preliminary preparation

Before you start installing the outlet, you must go through the following preparatory steps:

We are laying a twisted pair cable to the place where it is planned to install an outlet (we create internal wiring), which will pass through the strobes prepared in advance. With this method of laying the cable, it will be completely covered by the wall surface (internal installation), which ensures its protection from damage and interference (interference);

We carry out the installation of the installation box. To do this, in the place chosen for installing the outlet, we make a hole with a puncher. Then we fasten the box to this place using self-tapping screws or dowels.

Video: installing an indoor RJ-45 outlet

In the event that an open method (external installation) was chosen for mounting the socket, an additional element will be needed for fixing - a cable box that is mounted on the wall. After the socket has been installed on the wall, we remove the cover and proceed to its direct connection.

Direct connection of RJ 45 socket

Let's connect the cable to the outlet is quite simple and will not cause any difficulties. It should only be remembered that there are two schemes for connecting the socket to the connector. T568 "A" or T568 "B". The difference between these schemes is only in the color scheme of the wires.

Internal device of Internet sockets

Socket terminals are also marked based on the colors of the wires intended for connection to them. For this purpose, mainly manufacturers use special stickers on which the marking is applied. In order for the whole system to function properly in the future, you just need to connect the socket, focusing on this marking.

Work order:

1. Remove the front cover from the outlet.

2. Remove the outer insulating layer of about 5-6 cm and straighten the cores.

3. Align and distribute the strands of twisted pairs.

4. In accordance with the selected connection scheme, we put the wires into the ports (without removing the additional layer of insulation).

Most Internet sockets are equipped with special latches that work like clamps. This ensures that the crimping of the RJ 45 cable can be done without the use of additional equipment. If they are absent, then to fix the wires we use bolts, which we fasten with a screwdriver.

5. We fix the socket on the wall or in the installation box.

6. Install the front panel on the socket.

Internet socket manufacturers

There are many companies in the world that manufacture sockets used to organize computer networks. Let's get acquainted with some of them:

Viko- a company founded in Turkey in 1980. It is the owner of many certificates that it received as an award for high quality services from representatives of the International Organization for Standardization. At present, the company has developed a fairly large sales network of products, consisting of 55 countries, including Russia.

Legrand- Is a leading French company for the manufacture of electrical components used for domestic and industrial purposes. Despite its relatively young age, it produces a fairly extensive product line: sockets designed for use in telephone and computer networks, pass-through switches, RCDs (Residual Current Devices), contactors, etc.

Hager Systems (Hager) - a company founded in Germany in 1955, which in 2004 opened a representative office in Russia. Since 2011, it has been called Electrosystems and Technologies LLC, since it was bought out by Russian investors in 2009. It is engaged in the production of electrical equipment, for example, such as sockets, switches, modular-type protective and switching equipment, cable channels, etc.

Despite the fact that wireless communications are developing quite quickly, the UTP socket is still in great demand. After all, it is this product that is an indispensable element in the structured cabling system of a modern building. The socket itself is referred to among specialists as RJ-45, its versatility allows you to connect UTP twisted pair cable without unnecessary devices. Moreover, you can install such a unit yourself.

Short description

Outwardly, the RJ-45 computer socket most of all resembles a standard RJ-11 telephone device. The main difference between these two devices is only that the number of connector pins has been reduced from eight to four. Therefore, a computer outlet can also be used for a telephone, but not vice versa.

Depending on the model, the final unit may differ from its counterparts in small characteristics, but the whole design concept remains the same. Professionals claim that The quality of the outlet is determined by three main points:

It is the exact number of ports that is considered the main indicator of such a device. Most often there are no more than four. If the user plans to connect many more devices, then he will need an additional patch panel. It is worth noting that the acquisition of such a device can only mean that the master did not foresee all the nuances at the stage of network wiring.

A large number of installed patch cords can cause a lot of inconvenience. For high-quality arrangement of a home or office LAN, you can use two-unit modules.

The installation method of this switching unit depends on the version in which the socket is made. Experts have provided for the presence of two proven methods:

  1. For indoor installation.
  2. Outdoor installation.

The choice of one or another option depends on the method of laying the LAN cable. If it is external (for example: the wire is placed in special boxes), then only external sockets will come in handy. If the master preferred hidden wiring, then internal fixtures will look more impressive and neat.

Separately, it is worth noting that the RJ-45 network socket is sometimes installed directly on the box itself. In technical terms, such a performance can be considered both external and internal. In addition, the performance characteristics are completely independent of the performance of the LAN.

It depends on the characteristics of the cable that the fact to which category it belongs. Its demand is due to a wide bandwidth, as this indicator affects the speed of data transfer, as well as the possibility of using special high-quality Internet technologies. The masters always have a table for this case, which clearly shows the relationship between the outlet category and the bandwidth.

The development of modern information technologies has influenced the fact that during the installation of a LAN, cables lower than UTP 5e are practically never used anywhere. In order for the result of the performed manipulations to fully meet all expectations, it is necessary that the category of the outlet is not less than that of the wire connected to it. Otherwise, there is a high probability that the data transfer rate will be reduced several times.

Design features

The professional connection of the RJ-45 socket may differ in the external or internal type of execution. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. The main positive characteristics of indoor installation include compactness and hidden cable routing. In addition, the product itself will be reliably protected from any mechanical influences.

There are practically no drawbacks to the internal installation, the only thing is that if necessary, the user will not be able to move the outlet to another place, and the installation process itself is always accompanied by certain repair work. In this regard, overhead models R-45 cat 5e are the most popular today.

The modification of each device differs in the total number of connected users. Each model is designed to connect one, two or more wires. Depending on the chosen installation scheme, the master can use both single-sided and through-hole sockets.

Pinout principle

A high-quality connection of a twisted pair cable to an outlet is possible only if the master correctly pinouts the wires. There should be no problems with this task, since manufacturers have provided for a special color marking opposite each contact group, which fully complies with all established standards. Regardless of which option the master decides to use, the main task is to make it the same type for the LAN. Otherwise, some problems may arise.

Many people think that in Russia everyone “compresses” the wire according to the T568 B type, but this statement is very conditional. The easiest way is when the user knows what standard his provider uses. You can also determine this yourself by looking at the pinout of the connector that is installed on the cable introduced into the apartment.

Connector crimping instructions

You need to start by choosing professional tools that will be useful for introducing twisted-pair sockets. Of course, buy a quality extractor, which allows you to quickly press in and cut off the rest of the unnecessary wire with one touch of the hand. The Chinese equivalent of such a tool costs about $5. Advertised models can cost three or even five times more.

The extractor provides for the presence of a universal mechanism that allows you to quickly and efficiently press the wire between two contact knives, cutting off all excess. In addition to this, the unit is equipped with a flat screwdriver and a small hook, which is designed to carefully remove the wire if it is incorrectly terminated.

During operation, universal pliers are sure to come in handy for the accurate removal of the insulating layer. Their cost is almost the same as that of the extractor. Such a tool does an excellent job with a cable such as UTP, FTP, STP. In addition, the user can independently adjust the depth of the incision. Experts do not recommend using an ordinary kitchen knife to strip insulation, as the risk of damage to one of the cores increases significantly.

When the choice of tools is over, you can safely proceed to the main algorithm for terminating a twisted pair into a switching device. An example will be given on the assumption that the main cable has already been laid, the seat for the socket has been prepared. The scheme of actions is as follows:

It is worth noting that you can meet craftsmen who recommend using an ordinary clerical knife instead of a professional tool. This method is valid only when you need an urgent Internet connection, but the extractor is not available. But at the first opportunity, such an outlet will need to be pinched, since the contact of the wire with the latch will still be broken.

When the twisted pair is pressed in, the module must be installed in its original place. If the socket is of an external configuration, then its base must be screwed to a pre-prepared site. As a result, the cable should be fed from above, and the connector along the contour from below. If the socket is internal, then its base is mounted in a special glass, after which it is fixed.

It remains only to screw the front panel and check the operation of the device. This can be done by a professional tester, but it is much easier to connect a computer. If there is no network connection, then the first step is to check the correctness of the pinout, since in 99% of all cases this is the problem.

Installation of a hidden socket

Beginning masters often have difficulty with how to properly disassemble such a computer device. When connecting all the conductors, it is necessary to gradually get to the main part - a small case (most often plastic or ceramic), where miniature contacts are located. It is to this plate that all the conductors are connected, and then the case is assembled. The thing is that different manufacturers carry out this procedure in different ways.

For example, the well-known brand Legrand produces sockets in which the main connectors are hidden behind the front cover. Having removed this part, the master comes across a white plastic impeller, which contains a small arrow. The impeller must be carefully turned in the direction of the arrow, after which access to the housing and the contact plate will open. It is on it that the multi-colored marking of the conductors is applied. The final connection practically does not differ from a standard outlet, the only thing is that initially you need to thread a twisted pair into the hole on the plate, and only then level the cores.

No less popular today is the Lezard trademark, which manufactures computer sockets in a different way. The metal frame and front panel are fixed with small bolts that can be easily unscrewed. The main internal contact plate is fastened with special clamps. When assembling and disassembling such a socket, you need to know that some contacts can only be squeezed out with a screwdriver.

But to remove the contact group from the case, you must gently press on the top latch. After these manipulations, the master will have a small box in his hands. To connect a twisted pair, remove the plastic cap that presses the conductors. Since the plastic in this place is quite elastic, then the effort should be significant. It remains only to separate the cores according to the markings applied to the product.

When it is decided to use a shielded cable, then the socket must be selected appropriate, where the connection of such a product is provided in advance. Otherwise, the screen will turn into a huge antenna, which will negatively affect the bandwidth and speed of the Internet. It is for the same reason that you should not buy an FTP cable if it is not provided for connecting powerful ungrounded equipment.

To make full use of high-quality twisted-pair LAN technologies, you need to equip entire lines. Twists and spikes in this case are simply unacceptable, as this is fraught with serious speed losses. In cases where it becomes necessary to extend a certain length of cable, only special connectors should be used. Such a device is presented in the form of a small box in which a powerful board with two RJ-45 connectors is mounted. In some models, twisted-pair latches, like sockets, may be provided.

You should not buy products with a large number of ports for domestic conditions. Numerous patch cords that are installed in one place will definitely begin to get tangled, giving users some discomfort. It is best to make several outlets at different distances.

Reading time ≈ 3 minutes

The Internet today occupies such a role in our lives that now it is practically impossible to find a place where there would be no possibility of connecting to the network. Whether it is a metropolis or a remote village, the Internet takes its place in homes and in the lives of their inhabitants. Almost all modern appliances have the ability to connect, and no one is surprised by an interactive refrigerator or TV. Therefore, installing and connecting sockets for wired Internet is a very relevant topic, and if you have not yet encountered this task, then it is likely that sooner or later this will happen. You can call a wizard from your provider's staff to RJ-45 socket installation, although you can do this work yourself if you wish. Low voltage currents flow in the wires for connecting to the Internet, and when you connect an RJ-45 socket, you can not be afraid of electric shock. If you decide to do the job without resorting to help, this article with a video will help you with this.

The RJ-45 network socket is a standard product, depending on the manufacturer, differing only in appearance. When wondering how many sockets for the phone and how many sockets to install for the Internet, you can not hesitate to install an RJ-45 socket for connecting to the Internet, since you can connect a telephone wire to it and connect a phone.

RJ-45 socket wiring diagram

The wiring diagram for an RJ-45 socket is not particularly difficult. Having removed the outer insulation from the cable by two to three centimeters, we unwind 4 paired cores and clean them of insulation, preferably with a special knife ( stripper). We open the case for the internal connection of the RJ-45 socket. We see that all contacts are highlighted in a certain color corresponding to the desired wire so that it will be difficult to make a mistake. It is necessary to clean the wires in such a way that the wire coming out of the case is covered with external insulation, and the bare part is only at the point of contact with the latch. In network sockets for connecting RJ-45 Legrand, it is not necessary to clean the insulation from twisted pairs.

The contacts of these sockets themselves pierce the protective sheath of the wire. Models of these brands have proven themselves to be reliable, beautiful and easy to connect. RJ-45 socket pin latches work to hold, and you just need to attach the appropriate wire to them and press it from above with a knife or thin screwdriver, or close the special clip provided in some socket models. After making sure that the contacts securely hold the wires at all points, we insert the socket into the socket in the wall and tighten the fixing bolts until the socket is held in the desired position. Screw or put on the top cover. If the network wire is connected to the station, the RJ-45 socket can be immediately used for its intended purpose. The wire from the station must be removed into the wall or into a special wire channel.

In some cases, it makes sense to connect a double RJ-45 socket, since each computer needs its own port to connect to the network. The principle of connection and installation is the same.

An Internet socket is one way to provide several wired Internet access points in a home or office. You can connect it yourself - just follow simple instructions.

Laying a twisted pair

Before installing an outlet, you need to think about laying a twisted pair:

Connecting an internet outlet

The general procedure for connecting an Internet outlet is as follows:

  1. Insert the outlet box into the wall.
  2. Thread the twisted pair cable through the top hole of the box.
  3. Strip the cable 2-3 cm. You will see four twisted pairs - eight multi-colored wires. Unroll them and straighten them. Be careful - they are easy to break.
  4. Open the cover of the terminal block (the main block of the socket) and connect the wires in accordance with the marking. On the case you will see two different markings - A and B. To connect to the Internet, we will use the B marking. The A marking is more suitable for connecting a PC to a PC. Features of connecting sockets from different manufacturers, we will consider below.

It is necessary to insert the cores into the corresponding slots

  5. Now close the lid. You should have the ends of the veins sticking out of the outlet. Cut them flush with the wall of the case so that they do not stick out.

If you don't have enough wire lengths to get them into the holes you need, just strip the cable a little higher.

  6. Then, using the spacer screws (they come with the socket), fix it in the mounting box. The notch for the latch of the Internet cable should be on top.

The socket is fixed in the box with spacer screws.

  7. Install the bezel (metal flat frame) and decorative frame on top. The latter just snaps on top.

The bezel holds the decorative frame

Legrand

To connect a Legrand internet outlet, follow this diagram:

  1. Rotate the white retainer clockwise 90 degrees. It should be perpendicular to the body.

Almost all sockets from Legrand are equipped with such a latch

  2. Now lift the block by holding it by the latch. It will easily come out of the groove and give us access to contacts.

Here we will connect the wires

  3. We should now have a removable block with a white lock in our hands. You need to pass a twisted pair through it so that the tip is on the inside.

The hole for the cable is in the center of the white ring retainer

  4. We strip the cable for about a couple of centimeters and unwind the twisted pairs.
  5. On the sides of our removable retainer you will see color markings in the form of stickers - brown, white-brown, orange and so on. Your task is to place the cores in the grooves in accordance with this marking.

Your output should look like this

  6. We put the block with the lock in place and turn the white lock counterclockwise. It will securely fasten and clamp the veins. Excess protruding ends can be cut off.

Protruding long ends of the veins must be cut off

Viko

At Viko, the socket is arranged quite simply - in the main unit there is a “high chair” with grooves that are marked with the right colors. Access to the "chair" closes the usual plastic latch, which can be opened with your fingers. Your task is to insert suitable cores into the corresponding grooves. Then you just need to close the plastic cover, pressing it properly with your fingers.

Viko do without unnecessary tricks and clamps

Video: installation of a Viko socket

Lezard

Lezard, like Veko, do without ingenious clamps. But still, the place of attachment of the veins is quite well protected:

Video: installation of the Lezard outlet

Connecting a Schneider socket is no different from Lezard - you just need to remove the cover with a screwdriver, lay the wires and close the cover.

Sockets from Schneider are also equipped with a simple, sturdy snap-on lid.

Video: installation of a Schneider outlet

Connecting the outlet to the router

Now is the time to connect to the router. Laying the twisted pair, we left one tip next to it.

To do this, we need a crimper (crimping tool) and a connector (a plastic plug with a latch).

It is also called press tongs

Getting Started:

Checking the health of the network

Now we can check how successful we were with the connection. To do this, you need to connect your laptop or PC one by one to all the sockets that we have installed and try to access the Internet. If any of the outlets does not work, you need to check:

  • correct connection of the outlet itself;
  • correct connection of the cable to the router (including the quality of the connector crimp);
  • the integrity of the wire along the way from the router to the outlet.

There is another way to check performance. If your router has LAN connection indicator lights (they are usually located on the front panel), then you can connect PCs or laptops to each outlet (at least at the same time, at least in turn). If the corresponding LAN indicator lights up, everything is fine, there is a contact. If not, you need to check for problems.

It is best to check the signal before installing the front panel and the decorative plate of the socket.

We connect 4 cores under 8

If you have a four-wire cable, you can connect it to an outlet and connector designed for an eight-wire standard. But it should be borne in mind that in this case the speed of the Internet will drop by 10 times.

Your cable will have four cores:

  • orange;
  • white-orange;
  • blue;
  • white-blue.

They must be connected strictly according to the marking on the outlet (we use option B in the same way). Accordingly, the connection of a four-wire cable implies that the green, white-green, brown and white-brown wire slot will remain empty.

Connecting 4 cores is no more difficult than 8, but then the Internet speed will be lower

If you need to crimp a four-wire twisted pair, then you need to arrange the cores when installing the connector in the following order (from left to right) - white-orange, orange, white-blue, blue.

Possible problems and how to fix them

Now let's look at the most common problems.

Incorrect wire connection

If you connect the wires incorrectly, then either your Internet will work too slowly (about 10 times slower than expected), or it will not work at all. You can correct the incorrect connection of the cores only by dismantling the socket:

  1. Remove the decorative and front panels, pull out the terminal block.
  2. Open the lid and carefully check if the wires are in their places. It is very easy to confuse the connection marked A with marking B and connect half of the wires according to one standard, and half according to another.
  3. Correct the connection if necessary.

Cut off the wires before closing the latch

If you, in thought, accidentally cut off the strands before you pressed them with a retainer, it's okay. You need:

  1. Pull wires out of socket.
  2. Strip the cable a couple of centimeters higher.
  3. Re-arrange the cores as expected.
  4. Close cover/latch.
  5. Cut off excess pieces of veins.

You will only lose a couple of centimeters of cable - in most cases this is not a critical loss.

Cleaned up too much

If you strip the cable too far, then the exposed strands can end up in danger and break over time. You can improve the situation in two ways. The first will require you to donate the cleared "surplus":

  1. Pull the wires to the contacts in such a way that the cable winding ends right at the entrance to the terminal block.
  2. Arrange the strands as needed.
  3. Close the lid and cut off the protruding strands. The ends will be long - exactly as much excess cable stripping you have done.

If you can’t say goodbye to precious centimeters of cable, then buy heat shrink tubing. It is inexpensive and is a hollow tube made of thin plastic:

  1. Cut off as much tubing as needed.
  2. Thread the cleaned strands into the tube.
  3. Heat the tube with a hair dryer (even household hair is suitable). Under the action of heat, the tube will shrink and will fit snugly against the veins.

Heat shrink tubing is a useful household item, buy more immediately

Connecting an Internet outlet is not as difficult as it might seem. Fortunately, each outlet comes with instructions and clear markings.
