How a plasterboard ceiling can change your hallway. Design options for plasterboard ceilings in the corridor and hallway Plasterboard ceilings in the t-shaped corridor

The ceilings in the hallway and corridor are the most difficult areas for renovating an apartment. In most houses, and especially in those that were built a long time ago, they do not differ in the presence of space, and the surface is often not entirely flat. In order to mask such defects, it is necessary to apply a competent surface finish. In this case, plasterboard ceilings in the hallway are the best solution.

Ceiling design in the hallway

First, you need to choose the most suitable design of plasterboard ceilings - the hallway must have the correct design. It is often made single-level. The main reason for this is the small volume of the room. Do not think that a single-level construction means an ordinary flat plane. Thanks to the special installation technique, the plasterboard ceiling in the hallway can be beautiful, moreover, it allows you to visually increase the height of the room.

But, as it turns out, there are design options that allow you to create a multi-level plasterboard ceiling in the hallway. In this case, it is important to correctly distribute the ceiling levels and the radius of the structure.

If the room is small

In a narrow room, the ceilings for the hallway made of plasterboard must be made light. For small hallways, plasterboard structures are the best solution. If you choose the right design option, then the ceiling expands the space.

To create such an effect, you can use some practical tips:

Ceilings in a large room

Practically everything can be realized in a spacious room. In this case, both single-level and multi-level structures look great.

  • Ceilings mounted in several steps will look original. Despite the fact that they can make the structure heavier, the correct selection of colors, on the contrary, makes the ceiling light. This can be achieved by using fixtures and white paint on the ceiling.
  • Ceilings with smooth curves will look great. They blur the boundaries of the surface, which makes the room brighter.
  • In a spacious hallway or hallway, you can use any colors you like. The ceiling can be made to match the floor and walls. Other solutions are quite real. So, for example, you can make a contrasting transition from floor to walls, from walls to ceiling.
  • The ceiling texture can be absolutely any - glossy, matte or combined. Glossy ceiling with matte edging looks great. Even more original is the option with photo printing or painting.
  • But do not forget that the ceiling color scheme should contain a maximum of three colors.
  • Particularly attractive are the mirrored surfaces that create the effect of endless space.

As you can see from all of the above, the original ceiling is not only the prerogative of spacious hallways. It is quite possible to create a unique and interesting design of the plasterboard ceiling in the hallway. By choosing the right colors, installing the lamps and using the right accents in the design, you can completely transform even the most ordinary hallway.

Plasterboard ceiling lighting options

Room lighting can be made traditional. That is, hang a chandelier in the middle of the room. But this approach is considered a bit outdated. Based on this, it is much better to use modern lamps that can be easily built into the ceiling structure. With the help of such point light sources, you can create the right one, give the room more volume and additional attractiveness. In addition, these luminaires can work in several colors. Depending on the color of the glow and the location, the appearance of the ceiling structure changes.

If you combine the decoration and lighting correctly, then on a single-level ceiling you can achieve an effect that is simply unattainable for multi-level structures.

The arrangement of lighting should be approached especially carefully. To do this, before installing drywall sheets, it is necessary to carry out electrical wiring. If you do not have the skills to work with electricity, it is better not to take risks and entrust this part of the work to professionals. Such foresight will help to avoid short circuit and fire.

When installing two-level ceilings in a large room, you can resort to a different method of lighting. It's about LED backlighting. It will not only decorate the interior, but also visually increase the height of the ceilings. The LED strip is mounted in a special niche. This lighting method is also great for small hallways, as it visually enlarges the space.

Drywall is a unique material. It allows you to equip ceilings of a wide variety of configurations. And the external finish of such a surface is very diverse and simple. You just need to choose the right surface design that will highlight the sophistication of your hallway to the greatest extent.

Each house begins with the entrance to it. But by an absurd coincidence, little attention is paid to the appearance of the hallway. And the impression of her forms the first opinion about the house, it is not for nothing that she is called the face of the apartment. At the same time, a simple and extraordinary design idea is to create a plasterboard ceiling in the hallway.

Advantages of plasterboard ceilings

  1. The democratic cost of the material does not leave him serious competitors in the market.
  2. The simplicity of technical work due to the light weight of the drywall, the installation of the ceiling with their own hands will be done even by an unprepared person in just 2-3 hours of continuous work.
  3. Ceiling support structures do not weigh much. Therefore, this material is ideal for older buildings, where an increase in mass can lead to collapse.
  4. Relative cleanliness during installation.
  5. Air permeability, sound insulation, fire resistance, environmental friendliness, safety in operation. Gypsum plasterboard is made from a mixture of PVA glue, starch and gypsum.
  6. The resulting flat surface does not need complex processing. In addition, the gypsum board allows you to quickly hide all the imperfections of the ceiling, including irregularities and cracks.
  7. This design will easily hide cables, ventilation pipes and wiring, you do not have to do additional steps to hide the cords.
  8. The plasticity of the materials makes it possible for the designer's imagination to fly.
  9. Plasterboard ceilings are decorated according to the owner's request. It is permissible to use wallpaper, paint, photo printing and other techniques.
  10. There is no less abundance for types of lighting: multilevel, point, open and closed. Ceilings with well-designed lighting make the hallway bright at any time of the day.

Cons of gypsum board

  • The tendency of the material to breakdown, which will not even allow you to hang a chandelier;
  • Reducing the height of the hallway. There is a loss of space of at least 40 millimeters. This suggests that gypsum plasterboard ceilings are not suitable for rooms below 2 meters in height;
  • Weak moisture resistance leading to staining;
  • Drywall is risky to use in new buildings, as shrinkage may occur;
  • Over the years, the color of the ceiling runs the risk of fading, and the structure itself is at risk of changing its original shape.

People forget about what can radically transform a space. You just need to choose the right design for the space, regardless of its shape, height and area. With these tips, it's easy to correct room imperfections and highlight hidden benefits.

For small spaces

  • In a small hallway, a plasterboard ceiling is the right solution. When installing a ceiling in two levels, it is worth using clear graphic lines;
  • The ideal shape for a two-level ceiling would be a quadrangle. A square, rhombus or rectangle will create the illusion of spread apart walls. In the hallway-corridor, it is permissible to combine a number of such elements;
  • The color scheme of a small hallway should be as light as possible. When choosing colors, it is better to use a couple of shades of one or combine them with white inserts;
  • It is also very important to use a spot lighting system and small lamps. With the correct preparation of the project, even in a small-sized hallway of a typical Khrushchev, it will turn out to create the effect of spaciousness.

  • In case the entrance area is large, the designers recommend creating a multi-stage ceiling. In a large space (for example, in a private home), allow yourself to improvise. The more space for registration, the more design options will look advantageous;
  • For such a design, it is important to choose the right design, color scheme and the correct location of the lighting; A multi-stage ceiling in white tones will increase the lightness of the room, and the ceiling will look weightless;
  • Smooth curves give the interior luxury. Atypical lines visually expand the space, make it lighter and more airy. Restrictions when creating a project for such a hallway will be only the resources and abilities of the master;
  • In a spacious room, it will be possible to give the ceiling at least a contrasting color to attract attention, at least one that fits into the concept of the hallway. But don't use too many colors: choose no more than three;
  • Some people choose original design methods. The popularity of photo printing, 3D drawings or even hand-painting is growing;
  • Play on textures: suspended ceilings with a glossy middle and matte plasterboard edges look great.

A modern look at the plasterboard ceiling

The fashion for renovation changes every decade, or even more often. Modern ideas in the common style of minimalism will allow you to create a homely atmosphere even in a small hallway.

The high-tech style offers the use of mirrors in the design of a multi-level ceiling. This finishing option will make the ceiling visually higher, which will benefit rooms with low walls.

Another fashionable trend in design - loft - offers ceiling decoration for a concrete floor. Maybe careless simplicity is the key to a pleasant appearance of the hallway?

A flat ceiling is suitable for the hallway of those who love austere interiors. Or needs to keep the weight of the ceiling as light as possible.

Will fit well into the Scandinavian style or any other minimalistic style. It is a good idea to complement such a ceiling with wood beams or refined stucco molding. A plasterboard ceiling is a suitable base for any decorative coating. This makes it one of the most attractive types of coatings.

Another advantage of such a ceiling is that it is much easier to install than other types.

The creation of a single-level ceiling will significantly save time for repairing the hallway and resources.

Photo of a two-level ceiling with illumination

They are used in spacious rooms. Therefore, their two-stage counterparts are used in the hallways.

It is important to choose the shape for each of the levels, depending on the characteristics of the space at the entrance.

For example, the smaller the area of the room, the more inconspicuous the framing of the plasterboard ceiling should be. The edges should not be made rectangular, do not be afraid to experiment with oval, round shapes and even volumetric ornaments. The peculiarity of the latest design decision is that the size and shape of the room will not be important: the patterns can be anything you like.

You can simply shape the light boxes, this solution is suitable for spaces with low ceilings.

Another solution for a two-level plasterboard ceiling is overhanging visors, with the appearance of which you can also experiment. If you like such structures, it is permissible to use them in other rooms.

This approach to the design of ceilings is considered a recent trend: a combination of a plasterboard ceiling and the familiar to everyone. In the hallway, this idea will be applicable. The range of possibilities of the combined ceiling is great. The shine of the stretch ceiling in combination with plasterboard edging will allow even the most original idea to come to life.

Another creative idea for ceiling decoration is using acrylic or glass inserts. Stained glass windows let in light and resemble tiny lamps. However, you can purchase ready-made original lamps. Even unusual and massive options are suitable for a combined ceiling.

The "window in the ceiling" will be a sheet of glass and photo printing, framed with plasterboard. If you illuminate the picture inside, you will achieve the effect of sunlight. The palette of ideas for combined ceilings suggests that it will give a second wind to every room. Hallway including.

Even an exquisite ceiling will not look aesthetically pleasing without proper lighting. It is necessary to plan in advance the type of lamps and their location on the ceiling in order to conduct electrical wiring to the necessary places. There are a number of lighting types suitable for plasterboard ceilings:

  • or neon tape allows you to increase the height of the room if you run it around the perimeter of the room. These flexible lighting fixtures can be used to create deep hue patterns or lettering that can be seen in the dark with extreme clarity.
  • Round spotlights help distribute light softer. Such lamps are mounted on one line at a distance of 30 centimeters. The advantage of LEDs is that they consume little power. Installing these lamps lowers your electricity bills. If the style of the interior makes it possible to change the model of lamps and make the lamps mobile, do not be afraid to try new things.
  • A chandelier is not a suitable option for a plasterboard ceiling. Due to its weight, the lamp can accidentally damage the fragile structure. But if the chandelier cannot be excluded from the concept of converting the hallway, it is better to use the built-in version or tightly adjacent to the ceiling. If the room at the entrance has an elongated shape, it is better to place a row of identical lamps on the ceiling.

A corridor is a connecting link between all rooms, bathroom, kitchen, often forming a single whole with the hallway. Therefore, all the elements of its decoration should be harmonized and combined with the general style and design of the apartment. The plasterboard ceiling in the corridor can make the atmosphere more stylish and even solemn and successfully complement the overall picture.

The renovation in the corridor is the final stage. Until the repair work in the remaining rooms is completed, it makes no sense to engage in the corridor through which furniture, building materials, and debris will sweep. The materials required for finishing this room should not only be of high quality and attractive, but also similar in style and color to the overall interior design of the apartment.

Main advantages

Suspended structures tend to “eat up” space in low rooms, but despite this, drywall is considered one of the most successful materials for decorating ceilings in hallways.

  • It is environmentally friendly and safe, odorless and harmful substances in the composition, has no risk of fire.
  • have good soundproofing characteristics and allow any soundproofing materials to be placed on the ceiling.
  • Plasterboard structures do not require preliminary preparation of the base ceiling.
  • With the help of such a solution, defects of old coatings, as well as wiring and any communications, are easily hidden.
  • Ease of design, the installation process does not take much time.
  • GKL finishing is cheaper than leveling a concrete ceiling with plaster.
  • Drywall allows the use of recessed luminaires.
  • Using this material, it is easy to create original decorative elements.

Possible options for plasterboard ceilings

Initially, it is necessary to choose the most suitable drywall construction design, corresponding to the overall style of the interior. Inspired by the ready-made solutions of designers, you can independently design an incredibly effective multi-level suspension system, although a simple single-level ceiling has a right to exist.

In the process of developing the design of a plasterboard ceiling, it is important to correctly use the geometric shapes and steps of the structure so as not to reduce an already small room.

Ideas for decorating the ceiling in a small corridor

In hallways and corridors of modest size, the choice of suspension systems can be considered the right decision. Competent design development allows you to increase the space, and visually they will look bigger.

Tricks to do in small spaces:

  1. In narrow corridors, when creating multi-level suspended ceilings, it is best to use clear graphic lines.
  2. When choosing rectangular or square shapes, it is recommended to make the main level slightly recessed in relation to the rest of the structure: this technique will visually expand the space.
  3. In the decoration, it is recommended to use only light shades that visually increase the volume of the room.
  4. With the help of regular geometric shapes, you can expand the boundaries of the ceiling.
  5. It is recommended to install as many lighting fixtures as possible in the ceiling surface. Good lighting can create a feeling of spaciousness even in a very narrow corridor.

Hidden LED lighting along the perimeter of the plasterboard structure will create the feeling of a "floating" ceiling.

When applied correctly, these fairly simple guidelines are invariably effective.

What solutions are relevant for large hallways?

In such rooms, you can completely rely on your imagination. The spacious corridor allows you to create any desired design, it is important that it matches the general style of the renovation.

  • Multistage systems from gypsum boards look original. Even complex heavy structures will look harmonious enough with the right lighting.
  • Ceilings with flowing lines dilute the strict boundaries, giving the surface an airy look.
  • The corridor, which takes up a fairly large space, allows you to use a variety of color schemes. The ceiling can be decorated to match the overall style or make it contrasting, thereby focusing all the attention on it.

Combination of materials

Drywall goes well with, opening up a lot of scope for creativity and allowing you to embody interesting and unusual solutions.

  • The use of various textures for decoration is encouraged. The stretch fabric can be glossy or matte. The glossy surface of the ceiling with matte edging around the entire perimeter has a beautiful appearance. Painting or photo printing will look non-standard.

Please note that it is not recommended to use more than three shades on the ceiling.

  • Mirror surfaces have an original look, they are able to create a feeling of endless space.

Lighting

Spot lighting creates an effect that visually increases height and aesthetic appeal.

Modern lamps allow you to organize lighting in several colors.

If a two-level plasterboard structure is being installed, you can use LED lighting, which is mounted in a niche on the lower level along the entire perimeter of the hallway. This technique can be used in both large and small rooms, it allows you to increase the height and slightly expand the overall space.

The days when the only way to restore the appearance of the ceiling was whitewashing are long gone. Now there are many options, each of which has both pros and cons - the latter, mainly, are in the difficulty of self-installation and the inaccessibility of some materials. Arrangement of a ceiling in a plasterboard corridor can be called the most popular solution, which will be inspired by photos of beautiful interiors made using this material.

Advantages of drywall

For those who prefer to make repairs on their own, plasterboard is an excellent material that does not limit the freedom of choice in matters of design. In addition, drywall is relatively inexpensive and easy to use: if you have an assistant, it is not difficult to cope with the installation of such a ceiling.

The main advantages of the material include the following:

  • Nice appearance. A smooth, even sheet of gypsum plasterboard is quite attractive even without additional painting.
  • Good sound and heat insulation properties.
  • Application safety. Gypsum sheet is made of a mixture of stucco, PVA glue and starch, placed between cardboard sheets: if it is made in accordance with GOST, it can be used in any room.
  • Air permeability. This property determines both the ability to absorb moisture and give it away: thus, the room will never be too humid or dry.

It should also be noted that gypsum plasterboard sheets do not weigh too much and are convenient for installation as suspended or false ceilings.

The peculiarity of gypsum, thanks to which it gained such popularity, is its flexibility. The transformation of the sheet can be carried out both wet and dry, creating a huge variety of designs of any shape.

An important point: despite its elasticity, drywall is a rather fragile material, so care must be taken when working with it. When making curved elements, you need to carefully study the technology so that the products do not break during the creation process.

To the listed advantages of the material, you can add its relatively low cost. Compared to many other methods of finishing ceilings, the installation of drywall is more profitable financially, also because it does not require the involvement of a large number of people to carry out the work.

Plasterboard ceiling in the corridor: advantages

Narrow corridors are often a continuation of the hallway. Here you need to visually expand the space, which is easy to achieve using multi-level light structures made of gypsum plasterboard. In addition, the walls in the corridor cannot always be used to create a unique design, so the main interior feature here is the ceiling.

Lighting plays an important role in the design: with its help, you can also visually increase the volume of the room, if you install not a massive chandelier, but small spotlights, which are most popular when installing plasterboard ceilings.

An interesting option is when fancy curved elements are mounted on the ceiling, additionally illuminated by an LED strip. When installing such equipment, it is advisable to use the advice of a designer who will help turn the room into a real art space.

Note: the low ceiling height is not an obstacle for the installation of drywall. In this case, preference should be given to the hemmed method of fastening, rather than the more familiar suspended one. In this case, the height will decrease only by the thickness of the lathing mounted to the rough surface.

The advantages of a plasterboard ceiling in terms of decorating possibilities are obvious. As for practicality, drywall requires some care in use: it must be protected from dirt, dust and grease. However, this problem can be easily solved by painting the ceiling with a suitable paint: enamel, water-based, acrylic.

How to mount a plasterboard ceiling: the preparatory stage

The first thing to do is make a list of the tools and materials you need. For the construction of any type of plasterboard ceiling, the following are required:

  • gypsum sheets;
  • metal profile (wall and guide);
  • straight suspensions;
  • fasteners (screws and dowel-nails);
  • putty for sealing joints, screws and small irregularities.

If decor is planned on the ceiling, it is advisable to purchase “liquid nails” or gypsum glue in advance, depending on the material from which the decorative elements are made.

Next, you need to check if all the tools are available. A perforator is a necessary thing if the rough ceiling to which the profile will be attached is concrete. In other cases, it is quite possible to do with a screwdriver. In addition, you will need:

  • level;
  • metal shears for profile cutting;
  • cutter for connecting profiles;
  • a knife for cutting plasterboard and an edge planer.

To cut holes in a plasterboard sheet for lamps, sockets or a chandelier, it is convenient to use a special tool - a saw-knife. A hole saw is used for the same purpose.

After acquiring and preparing the necessary materials and tools, you can proceed to the first stage of creating the ceiling - marking. Determination of the lowest point is a key point, it depends on its position whether it is possible to make a hemmed ceiling in the corridor or whether it will be necessary to mount a suspended one.

TIP: before proceeding with the marking and direct installation, you should make sure that the rough surface is well prepared. If there is crumbling plaster or any other unreliable coating on it, you need to get rid of it.

After determining the lower (zero) point, horizontal lines are applied to the opposite walls, along which the lathing or guide profile is then mounted.

False ceiling

In a narrow corridor, it is not always advisable to create complex structures: a simple single-level ceiling may well be enough. If the difference between the lowest and highest points defining the ceiling height does not exceed 2 cm, a false ceiling can be constructed. This method requires less time and money.

To create a structure, you need to make a wooden or metal crate, which is mounted on the base ceiling and walls. Plasterboard sheets are attached directly to it. If you plan to start electrical wiring under it, a sketch of its location must be made in advance.

It will not work to place spotlights or any additional equipment with this method of creating a plasterboard ceiling - there will not be enough clearance between the rough and mounted ceiling. This distance can be increased by placing the correct size inserts on the base surface and attaching the structural frame to them. However, it is more advisable in such a situation to install a full-fledged suspended ceiling.

On a note. Plasterboard sheets must be laid apart, and the joints of the panels must coincide with the supporting parts of the frame and be attached to them. To avoid cutting and fitting solid sheets of gypsum board, it is recommended to set the optimal distance between the parts of the battens in advance.

A false ceiling can only be single-level and does not provide ample opportunities for interior design, but this option is quite simple and quick. In addition, with this installation method, the ceiling height is reduced slightly.

Suspended ceiling

Multilevel ceilings can only be suspended - fasteners using lathing are not suitable for them. However, for those who want to implement any creative idea, this option is much more interesting. In addition, in this case, you can build a ceiling with curly elements: the metal profile and gypsum plasterboard sheets are easy to deform in accordance with the selected shape.

Single-level suspended ceilings are convenient if you need to hide communications or install spotlights, the length of the base of which requires a certain amount of gap between the rough surface and drywall.

With this type of construction, preliminary markings are also used - not only on the walls, but also on the ceiling, for placing suspensions. The guide profile is mounted along the perimeter of the corridor according to the markings; U-shaped hangers are attached to the ceiling. These are the standard parts and are most commonly used, but in some cases knitting needles may be required. These are longer suspensions required to lower the ceiling to a lower height.

An important point: if the width of the corridor allows, and solid sheets of drywall are used for repairs, then the bearing profile must be placed on the guide every 60 cm.Since the size of a standard drywall is 120 cm, the position of the bearing profile will correspond to each side of the sheet and its middle - this is will help ensure maximum rigidity and strength of the entire structure.

The construction of the frame does not end there: in order for the ceiling to be even, the profile must be leveled. This can be done using a building rule or thread. After the profile has been adjusted over the entire plane, it can be screwed to the suspensions.

The next stage is the laying of plasterboard sheets, the process is quite fast if all the work has been carried out carefully and correctly before it. Giprok rises to the ceiling and is fixed with several self-tapping screws, after which the sheet can be released and fixed completely. It is recommended to constantly measure the distance from the laid drywall to the wall, cutting off the protruding edges as necessary.

Note: Plasterboard sheets with this installation option should be laid in a checkerboard pattern, avoiding complete coincidence along the seam. This will provide greater rigidity to the ceiling and prevent the appearance of cracks in the filler and paint.

Thus, the ceiling of the entire corridor is mounted, after which you can proceed to the rough and finishing finish. Here you can realize many design ideas: paints, decorative plaster, wallpaper perfectly fit on drywall. An excellent decor is stucco molding made of plaster or polyurethane, which can also be painted in a suitable color.

The corridor is the face of the house, it is from its appearance that the first impression of the house and its owners is formed. Having made a plasterboard ceiling in the corridor, we get an original appearance in the room. In addition, it allows you to hide all defects and hide the necessary communications behind its structure.

Ideas for decorating the ceiling in the corridor with plasterboard

Having decided to finish the ceiling with plasterboard, first of all it is necessary to decide on the design and shape of the ceiling structure. To do this, you can use Internet resources or construction magazines, which will give you an idea for its design.

Using various lighting solutions, you can visually increase the size of your hallway.

Types of structures:

  • single-level monophonic;
  • single-level with decorative inserts;
  • two- and multi-level structures.

Criteria for choosing the type of construction and possible color solutions

  • With a small area and height of the room, it is better to use single-level structures, which practically do not reduce the height of the room.
  • For very narrow corridors, the technique of a single-level ceiling with curly inserts in the form of a circle or rectangle is used. They visually expand the space and give an original stylish look.
  • To visually expand the ceiling area, it is necessary to veneer drywall with light-colored materials.
  • For more spacious hallways, you can use more original designs, consisting of several levels.
  • Large rooms allow you to play with the color background of the structure. For example, use several colors or shades at once.
  • Drywall has a good combination with tensioning materials. Stretching the glossy ceiling, you can decorate it with a plasterboard cornice, in which it is possible to install spot lighting using rotary lamps. Turning them in different directions gives the impression of a ceiling flooded with light. The combination of stretch films with drywall also allows different colors to be used. Choosing the most suitable option for the overall interior of the room, you can create your own original and unusual style.
  • The simplest and most classic option for finishing the ceiling surface with plasterboard is a single-level structure without unnecessary trim and decor elements. This style is characterized by the presence of straight and strict lines. The advantage of this style is that it can be combined with any room interior.
  • Constructions with smooth curves noticeably expand and brighten the room. When using this technology in large corridors, you can experiment with color contrasts;
  • In the creation of multi-level structures, the texture of the material plays an important role. So, an interesting option for finishing the ceiling is the combination of a glossy base with a matte edging.
  • It is possible to design plasterboard panels with photo printing or painting.
  • For small hallways, an unusual option would be to decorate the surface with mirrored panels. With this approach, the corridor not only visually expands, but also creates the effect of infinity.

Features of plasterboard ceiling decoration in the corridor

The plasterboard ceiling in the corridor has the following features:

  • The smooth surface of the material allows you to create a perfectly flat ceiling, hiding all irregularities and possible defects.
  • The ability to do the installation yourself, without the involvement of specialists.
  • The technology of fixing drywall sheets does not require preparation of the ceiling surface, thereby reducing the time for the installation process. Cleaning the ceiling base is only necessary if the wallpaper or other finishing material is in poor condition.
  • The frame method of attaching drywall sheets allows you to hide possible communications.
  • When using plasterboard structures, you can install any type of lighting: point, with open and closed lamps, and so on. It all depends on the owner's imagination.
  • With the help of design ideas, plasterboard structures can visually expand and enlarge the corridor.

Technology and stages of plasterboard ceiling finishing

You can finish the ceiling in the corridor with plasterboard with your own hands, it will be enough to study the technology of the installation process and arm yourself with the necessary tools. And also purchase the necessary material.

The entire installation process can be divided into four main stages.

Planning phase

At this stage, the marking and cutting of the material is carried out.

This requires:

  • Measure the hallway.
  • According to the obtained parameters, draw up a diagram of the location of metal profiles to create a frame.
  • According to the resulting drawing, make markings for attaching metal profiles to the ceiling.
  • Using the measured data, prepare the drywall panels and cut them out if necessary.
  • Calculate the number of profiles and hangers used. In the process of their preparation, strips of a certain size are immediately cut.
  • Having prepared all the materials, collect the entire set of tools necessary for the work.

The second stage is the assembly of the frame

  • The wall profile is fixed according to the markings outlined earlier. The size of its indent depends on the selected type of construction and the location of the lamps.
  • Longitudinal profiles are attached to the ceiling base. The distance between them is approximately 50 - 60 cm.
  • Suspensions are installed over the ceiling profile and fixed with anchors.
  • The guide metal profiles are attached.

For the plasterboard ceiling frame in the hallway, you can use two materials: a metal profile, as well as wooden beams

The frame is the basis of the entire ceiling and the durability of the entire plasterboard structure depends on how well and responsibly the work is done.

Installation of plasterboard panels

  • Having finished with the frame, all kinds of communications are laid inside it.
  • To ensure good waterproofing of the material, it is primed using a special solution for this. The primer will also provide neat joints.
  • When laying drywall sheets, it is necessary to leave a small gap between them and the wall, since under the influence of heat, the canvas may expand and, in the absence of gaps, their deformation.
  • Before fixing the sheets, you need to make holes in advance in which the lighting elements will be located.
  • Fastening sheets of drywall must be staggered.
  • Using self-tapping screws, the sheets are attached to the frame. The pitch between the screws depends on the area of the drywall panels: the larger and heavier it is, the more often you need to tighten the screws.

Before sheathing the frame with plasterboard, it is necessary to think over the location of all the backlighting and conduct the wiring.

Ceiling decoration

Sheathing the ceiling of the corridor, drywall must be finished and revetted.

  • A special tape is glued at the joints of the drywall sheets.
  • Places of joints and screwing in self-tapping screws are putty.
  • After complete drying, the surface is sanded and smoothed.
  • Plasterboard cladding is made using the method chosen for this.

Summing up, we come to the conclusion that plasterboard ceiling decoration in the corridor has many advantages, one of which is the creation of a unique and unusual design that will decorate the room and create its own style. All installation work can be done by hand, without the involvement of specialists.
