How to assemble sliding doors with your own hands. Do-it-yourself sliding doors on rollers: we install doors and rollers for sliding doors correctly. Sincerely, Alexander

With the help of sliding doors, you can create an extraordinary interior for an apartment or a private house. With the help of this device, it will be possible to rationally use the space, to delimit it into separate sectors, without losing the integrity of the room. Speaking about how to make sliding doors with your own hands, you should know that everything is simple. You just need to understand the manufacturing process and have some skills in working with tools.

Sliding door system diagram.

Elements that will be needed for the installation of sliding doors:

  1. Rollers.
  2. Door covering.
  3. Guide.
  4. Handles. Cases.
  5. Reiki for decoration.

Existing sliding door designs

Today there are various door systems of this type, which differ from each other in appearance. You should be aware that the design itself most often remains the same. Such doors are a system that consists of several rollers, guides and a curtain. The roller mechanism is fixed to the door, and the rollers themselves move along the guides that are fixed above the opening. Different models can be completed with 2-4 sets of rollers, several guides and blades.

Types of sliding doors.

The design includes platbands, accessories, special fittings, as well as decorative panels that cover the mechanism itself.

There are a fairly large number of different types of doors, but the following are most often used:

  • sliding compartments;
  • harmonic;
  • cascading;
  • single or multi-leaf;
  • radius.

Sliding fittings

Sliding doors have an unusual design, therefore, special fittings should be purchased for them. The handles are not the same as those found on ordinary doors. The difference between such devices is that they are recessed into the canvas. It is necessary to recessed them so that the device can move freely from one side to the other and drive into the opening that is intended for it. The lock mechanism is designed for vertical snapping.

More and more often, buyers of new plastic windows began to refuse to install the product and prefer to do it on their own. This trend is due to the fact that in most cases installation services are paid separately and can be a significant cost item.

In addition, there is no guarantee that the installation by the company will be made according to all requirements. So what is the correct way to install plastic (PVC) windows?

What should be done to ensure that a quality product does not lose its properties due to improper installation and serve as long as the manufacturers promise?

What should be done before installation?

- First of all, of course, you need to dismantle the old window. If the window block is old wooden beams, they can be easily broken off.

- To dismantle plastic windows, which may still be useful for a summer residence or for other purposes, it will take much more time and effort.
First, remove the plastic slopes, if any.

Then you need to remove all visible fittings, remove the sash and dismantle the glass unit. Then you can simply remove the window block from the opening.

After delivery, the window product must be checked for compliance with preliminary measurements, and before that the window must stand for about 20-30 minutes at room temperature. This part is especially important when installing windows in the winter.

- After the PVC profile has adapted to room temperature, you can proceed to its direct preparation.

First you need to determine what type of your window opening: with a quarter or without it. A quarter is a small protrusion in the opening, which serves to fit the profile more closely to the wall and prevent blowing. This part was named a quarter due to the fact that it occupies ¼ of the entire opening.
- The material of the building is of great importance. The choice of fasteners depends on it. If the house is made of concrete blocks or bricks, opt for expansion dowels and screws.

For older houses or structures made of wood, anchor plates are used.

Required tools and materials

- Spacer dowels.

- Self-tapping screws of different lengths.
- Anchor plates.
- PSUL (vapor barrier self-expanding tape).
- Diffusion tape.
- Vapor barrier tape.
- Polyurethane foam.
- A simple pencil.
- Perforator.
- Drill or screwdriver.
- Spray gun.
- A gun for polyurethane foam.
- Level.
- Wooden or plastic pads.
- Sealant.

Installation of plastic (PVC) windows steps

First step: preparing the window

- If you are fixing the window unit with spacer dowels, you need to make two holes on each side of the box.

Each of them should depart from the corner by 18 cm.

In the case of using anchor plates, one of its sides must be attached to the profile using self-tapping screws.

- For a quarter installation, place the window frame (without glazing and sashes) in the opening.

Use a simple pencil to mark the junction of the box and the quarter. It is also worth noting the location of the holes. Then the box can be removed.
- Departing from the 2 cm mark, glue the PSUL tape around the entire perimeter of the window. It is necessary for a tighter fit of the window to the opening and to prevent blowing. Subsequently, the tape expands and completely covers all possible slots.

Please note that the tape must not be bent; a separate piece of the required length must be made on each side. If a quarter is missing from the window, the PSUL tape is optional.
A vapor barrier tape is glued around the entire perimeter of the box. It is a metallized strip 15-20 cm wide and protects the assembly seam from moisture ingress.

There is an adhesive layer and a protective paper on both edges of the tape. Only one side of the tape is glued to the window, while the second should move away from the profile cuts. During the last assembly, the edge of the vapor barrier tape must be inside the room.

- Before correctly installing plastic (PVC) windows, it is worth installing an additional profile.

Most often, it is mounted at the bottom of the profile and serves to install an ebb and a window sill. Before installing the additional profile, you need to glue the PSUL tape around its entire perimeter.
- At this stage, it is advisable to install handles on all doors.

Second stage: preparation of the window opening

- After dismantling the old window, a lot of construction dirt can remain on the opening.

It needs to be removed.
- Check the slopes for visible defects. If the protrusion or depression exceeds 5 mm, it must be leveled. Subsequently, such, albeit small, irregularities can greatly interfere with the installation.
- It is advisable to treat the opening with an antiseptic in order to avoid the appearance of fungus on plastic windows.
- In the places where we previously made the marks, drill a few holes with a puncher.

Be sure to hold the tool as perpendicular to the wall as possible.

- If the building is old enough or made of wood, the opening should be covered with several layers of rubber mastic.

It covers the surface with a dense waterproofing layer and does not allow moisture to get inside the wall.

The third stage: installation of the window block in the opening

- The window is installed in the opening. At this stage, you need a level and you need to check the evenness of each side. If necessary, you should use wooden or plastic pads.

- The expansion plugs are inserted into the holes and carefully screwed in and hammered in.

Anchor plates must also be fixed to the wall.
- After fixing, again check the evenness of the position of the window in the opening. When installing a plastic (PVC) window with your own hands, it is very important to check the correctness of all work at each stage.

The fourth stage: installation of the ebb

- The ebb is a metal plate with curved cuts.

One edge serves for fixing the part to the additional profile, the other serves as a drainage function. To begin with, you need to bring the ebb to the place of its attachment and mark the places where the screws will pass. Uses three screws - 2 on the sides and one in the middle. Remove the ebb and drill holes in the desired places with a drill with a drill for metal.

- From the outside of the house, the lower edge of the opening is glued with diffusion tape.

It is especially important if an additional profile is not used during installation. The diffusion tape is a membrane-type embossed strip. It does not allow moisture to enter the installation seam, but at the same time allows water to pass outside. If the width of the tape is not enough, it can be glued in several layers.

- On the inside of the ebb the PSUL tape is glued. One strip in the middle will suffice.
- The ebb is fixed to the window opening with self-tapping screws.

Fifth stage: foaming the assembly seam

- Polyurethane foam is necessary in order to protect the seam from moisture.

It also has a large effect on thermal insulation. When choosing a foam, the only thing to consider is the expansion temperature. If you install windows in winter, it is better to choose foam that hardens at low temperatures, if in summer it is the other way around. In all other respects, foams of different brands differ little from each other.
- Moisten the entire surface with a slope with a spray bottle. In a humid environment, polyurethane foam hardens much faster.
- Shake the foam can upside down and place it in the gun.
- Fill about one third of the opening between the window and the wall with foam.

Then moisten the opening again and fill in another third of the opening.
- When using leveling shoes, tape them too.

At this stage, we again need a previously glued vapor barrier tape. The second edge, which was left unused, is glued to the wall and thus overlaps the foam.

The vapor barrier tape will protect the installation seam from moisture ingress from the side of the room.
- In the process of expanding the foam, it is necessary to walk several times over the vapor barrier tape with a roller or dry cloth. Otherwise, the tape may come off.

Sixth stage: installation of the window sill

- The sill board is placed under the lower edge of the profile.

One side of it should go slightly inside the profile. Pads are laid under the windowsill. The sill itself is leveled using a level.

- The place where the sill board crosses the lower edge of the window opening is marked with a pencil.
- Anchor plates are fixed in the places of the marks.
- The window sill is put back in its rightful place. Now we need long screws.

They fasten the profile and the window sill. Place the self-tapping screws in the place where the felts should be and carefully drill.

The seam between the window sill and the wall is covered with polyurethane foam in the same way as in the previous instructions.

- Anchor plates are fixed to the wall.

- It is necessary to install a double-glazed window and a sash, they will give the window frame considerable weight, will put pressure on the window sill and will not allow the foam to displace it.
- All slots on the sides of the window sill are filled with liquid sealant.

Seventh stage: final

- At this stage, you can decorate the slopes.
- The fittings are checked for functionality.

The sash must be opened and closed several times. While doing this, watch for sounds from loops and knobs, there should be no creaking.
- A4 sheet is placed between the window unit and the sash. The sash closes.

DIY installation of sliding interior doors

Now try pulling out a piece of paper. If it breaks off, then the sash is installed correctly.
- Don't forget to peel off the protective film. This must be done no later than 2 days after installation. The peeling layer, when exposed to sunlight, can detach from the film. The frame will get very dirty and attract dust.

Sliding doors are very useful if you want to store useful square feet of space. Just install the sliding door, you can also install the door yourself!

Let's start with the steps:

first First, you need to decide how to install the sliding doors along the wall (1 and 3) or in the hole (2 and 4) in the wall, find out the number of sliding doors you want to install:

When installing a door into a hole on BKA sliding mechanisms, it does not matter that when installing a door, additional cassettes are not required, as European manufacturers of sliding systems offer, the system is mounted on rails and rollers in the doors.

As a result, you can get sliding doors, there is already a lot of cost-saving square footage, it is not worse to swing, namely, what it will insulate, odor-resistance and the ability to install the lock back.

Sliding doors can be installed along the wall.

second Any door leaf is suitable for installing sliding doors, and suitable BKE slide mechanisms are suitable for any fabric.

third For the convenience of all users, consider installing sliding doors.

Thus, you should have a door leaf, a set of cylinders, top and bottom rails, and a set of handles.

3.1. Determine the length of the top and bottom guides:

Lop.nap = X2 door wing width + 10cm

Lnn.napr. = Door width

3.2. Take the pull rod to this mold (fig. 1) and pull it into the upper conductor and place the plug next to the edge of the upper rail (fig. 2 and fig. 2.1)

Get the next image. The top wire with fixed and fixed plugs and rollers is attached in the hole or along the hole in the door.

fifthThen you have to work with the door leaf.- namely, to connect the lower conductor (Fig. 6) to the lower part of the door leaf.

It can be fixed in two ways - by sanding the door (Fig. 7) and without grinding (Fig. 8). Attach the bottom conductor to the bottom of the door leaf and then to the bottom (fig. 9) that comes with the cylinder kit.

How to install an internal sliding door with your own hands

5.1 Install the installation plate on the upper part of the door leaf (together with the rollers) on both sides (fig. 10)

sixth Now you need to attach the installed top conductor (with cylinders and plugs) to the door leaf (with bottom plate and fixing plates).

Install the mounting plate with the opposite nut

seventh Locate the bottom slider (Figure 9) and attach it to the ground.

It will run on the bottom rail that prevents the sliding doors from sliding.

eighth Install the required plates and accessories on the sliding door.

Sliding interior doors and how to install them yourself.

After making a decision and fixing a goal, you want to install a sliding door at home without calling the master.

We will try to help you with this. It is important that in addition to the renovation, the still decorated and internal sliding doors create a pleasant interior and shape for your apartment. They are not difficult to establish, it is enough to have certain skills, the ability to use tools and knowledge in the workplace.

Currently, there are many types and different models of sliding interior doors, all of which differ in appearance and design from each other, as well as in color.

The door leaf contains a roller mechanism that represents this structure and guides.

The roller mechanism on the rails is attached to the door, so the inner door must slide back and forth safely. Before installing the door, we must select a special type of inner door.

There are these types: cascading sliding doors, radial, coupe, sliding accordion, one and up to four doors. Sliding doors have various modifications and options. The door and door handles of sliding interior doors differ in appearance rather than simple, plain doors. A special feature of these handles is that they are fixed inside the door. An accessory is usually fitted with a fender door, but it is important to choose the right handles and locks for anything sold separately, so consult an expert in the field.

Necessary tools and materials for the installation of sliding interior doors.

Installation requires installation using internal sliding doors.

To do this, you need to have the following set of tools and materials: cylinder mechanism, guides, frames, special handles and locks, saw, piece of wood, drill, screws, mill, bolts, door frame, door leaf, screwdriver, key, In addition, foam must contain cracks, CE pencil, glue. After you have purchased and purchased everything you need for installation, you can safely proceed with the installation of interior doors.

Internal sliding doors, their advantages and disadvantages.

Consider the advantages and disadvantages of interior sliding doors.

First, it should be noted that such doors significantly save space where they are installed. Unlike other types of doors, they do not close when exposed to drafts. Sliding doors simply transfer automation to another door, which is a big advantage. They can be easily closed and opened if you watch and take care of the roller mechanism.

Internal sliding doors may not have sills, although other models are available that are installed in the ground. The disadvantages of such doors are: the inability to install for the front door. The doors have low noise insulation, the prices for locks and handles are much higher than for conventional doors.

There will also be no room for household appliances and furniture next to the door. If you want to build your own apartment or house, balcony or balcony, it is better to use glass sliding doors, which will serve as a wonderful version of the passage.

Helpful hints when working with interior sliding doors.

The instructions can provide helpful hints that play an important role in the installation and use of interior sliding doors.

When choosing a roller mechanism, pay attention to the quality of the door, as it plays an important role in sliding doors. If the door is very heavy, buy a three-wheel roller mechanism so that they can support the weight of the inner door. Make the door better with someone so that it is clearly visible from the side. If this is difficult enough to install, contact the craftsmen who will quickly and quickly build the door.

Maintain the correct distance at all stages of work.

Installation and detailed instructions for interior sliding doors.

The initial step in installing sliding interior doors is to dismantle the old doors, clean up the space and make room for new doors.

Dismantling is the removal of hinges, door leaf, handles and locks.

Self-assembly of a coupe with slippage in 6 steps

Sliding interior doors can be installed in two ways: with a door leaf, when the door opens and hides in the wall, and when the door goes out. A more acceptable first option will make it possible to significantly use the room in which the door will be installed. But the second option is cheaper and will save you time.

Follow the detailed instructions for installing sliding interior doors.

First, we prepare the door leaf, we take all measurements of the door on canvas. Straighten the walls, if necessary, so that there are no curves or bulges. Then place the box in the hole. The door is connected to the appropriate screws and inserted into the hole. After fully installing the box, blow up the foams that we designed and take it to the next level. Then attach the top guide and pencil to the door leaf, its position.

Install with screws or dowels, depending on the type of wall, brick or concrete.

After installing the rails, proceed with installing the roller mechanism. When aligning the edges of the door, place a mark and use the screws to fix the mechanism to the door leaf. We also repeat on the back door. Then adjust the height so that the edges of the door do not touch the ground, the doors can be free, open and closed, and the door can move freely.

Before use, carefully check the roller mechanism and, if necessary, lubricate it with engine oil or special fluid.

Then place the rail on the floor, make a matching groove if necessary. The final phase is the installation of the piston, which will be attached to the door by inserting the lock and installing the handle if it was not installed at the time of purchase. Install the door leaf at all stages. The door must be free to travel and open, then you can assume that you handled it yourself and installed everything correctly.

Installing the door itself is not so difficult if you have all the nuances, logically reflect and have all the necessary tools.

Independent installation of interior sliding doors

The room has a ceiling ceiling. Can a sliding door or section be installed?

Yes I can. To do this, you need:

  1. Remove the ceiling section where the section is fixed.
  2. Fix the slab at the ceiling level that extends.
  3. Place the ceiling ceiling in place.
  4. Align the rail with the plate and mark the locations on the ceiling for future mounting of the rail.
  5. Stick to ceiling glue plugs at the attachment points that you can buy from a furniture store.

    To avoid damaging the ceiling, the self-tapping screws must go through the plugs.

Illustrations can be found in the Technical Support section under Installing an Expandable Ceiling Mortgage.

Can a sliding door be installed on a drywall wall?

Our sliding doors are made of modern lightweight materials, so there are no problems with installing drywall on the wall.

When installing, try to use all metal profiles that are inside the wall. The fixing rod is fixed to the wall with screws every 10 cm. Use self-tapping screws with a large slope and diameter (4.2 x 75 mm recommended).

I have a switch and a socket on the wall.

What should I do?

You can change the switch and socket. Thin models with a thickness of less than 1 cm are sold on sale. The door can also be pushed away from the wall with the required distance due to the mounting rail on which the rail is installed.

How do the doors hold if they don't run on the floor?

Instead of a conductor, we use a conductor on the ground.

It has a cylinder shape of 15 mm and a diameter of 10 mm. The guide is inserted into the cutout at the bottom of the door or on the bulkhead.

For this reason, the doors do not move or move left and right.

What do you need to do when ordering a sliding door or partition online so which is right for me?

To do this, you must decide where and how your door will move, and how to accurately measure the height and width of the machined aperture.

It will be easier for us to suggest the doors that are optimal for you if you send us a photo of the opening or the place where you install the section on [email protected] This is desirable, but you don't need to have a blueprint for a room or a designer's blueprint.

I want to replace a regular inner door with a sliding door.

Where to begin?

First you have to decide how the door will move and make sure there is enough space. If there is an outlet or switch on the wall, it may need to be replaced with thinner ones.

Then choose a door from the Smart Smart series: they are almost available and you won't have to wait long. Remove the old door and prepare the door. Follow our instructions for installing your sliding door.

Are sliding doors better than usual?

Sliding doors provide space savings, which is especially important for narrow corridors and small spaces.

They are lightweight and suitable for non-standard wide openings, they pass well and do not block the space, they look in every room and divide the space in the zones.

And what's even worse?

Like any other product, a sliding door has many features that you need to know.

First, it is much more difficult to provide heat and sound insulation. Secondly, in the case of a pencil in which the door is removed, dust can accumulate, which is almost impossible to remove. They are finally a little more expensive.

How safe is the door? Can he fall?

Most models of sliding doors and partitions are located from the top to the wagons. The cylinders are in strong aluminum guides, stand out or fall off, which they simply cannot.

Each trolley is securely attached to the door with virtually no vertical load on the structure. Therefore, we are confident in the reliability of the sliding mechanism that we have been providing for 10 years.

Do sliding doors have sufficient noise insulation?

In terms of their acoustic insulation properties, a sliding door is slightly inferior to a normal interior door.

At the same time, they have many advantages, of which the most important is space saving. When choosing a sliding door, you must decide what is important to you. In addition, noise and thermal insulation can be improved by attaching special buffer strips to the chassis.

Can I use your doors in damp rooms like a bathroom?

Use sliding doors in the bathroom if they don't get water.

PVC-film reliably protects the door leaf from moisture. However, if you cannot avoid direct exposure of the door to liquid, it is recommended to use aluminum doors.

We fix the apartment. At what stage can a sliding door be installed?

Installing a sliding door is a quick procedure that does not harm the interior. Therefore, we advise you to install them at the final stage, after finishing the ceiling, walls and floor.

But if the room has a stretched ceiling, the panel must be installed before pulling it out.

We have small children in our family. Can a child break a sliding door?

Probably, maybe, but we do not know of such cases. The door fastening system is very reliable and durable.

And with the help of our sliding partitions, you can give your children space in the rest and relaxation home.

How to quickly make a sliding door?

After paying for the order for the manufacture of most doors and partitions, it takes no more than two weeks.

DIY installation of sliding interior doors

Smart door doors are most often available from stock. The delivery time depends on the region you live in. From experience we can say that most of the clients outside the city receive their doors in a month.

How to install sliding interior doors with your own hands

Installing prestigious sliding interior modern doors with your own hands is to save money for the family budget.

Moreover, it is quite simple. First of all, you need to decide - you will install doors from components that can be found in stores or from improvised units, you will buy a door leaf - or make it yourself, or maybe use an old door.

Having decided to do it yourself, try to adhere to some rules:

  • the width of the door must correspond to the width of the opening plus 6-7 mm;
  • the height of the door leaf should exceed the opening by 10-15 cm;
  • as a rule, hinged systems are calculated for strength based on the weight of the door leaf, which does not exceed 100 kilograms;
  • when choosing, take into account the properties of the material of the wall on which the doors are mounted.

Sliding doors can perform a double function - doors on one side and pull-out mirror on the other.

Recently, more and more people have appeared who do not want to waste money.

You can not buy a lot, but do it yourself perfectly.

At the same time: - if you have children, you will have a wonderful time together, teach your “offspring” something useful, you will appear in his eyes as a Master worthy of respect.

All this leads to the fact that campaigns providing various services begin to lose income. Naturally, they are trying to fight against falling profits, spreading various myths and rumors about the complexity of a particular job. For example, the opinion is spreading that self-installation of sliding doors will require you to abandon switches, hang pictures and functionals on the wall along which the door leaf walks.

But this problem can be solved simply - install a false wall and place anything on it, except for pound weights.

The process of installing sliding doors begins with the selection of the necessary tools - a hammer, an electric drill, a screwdriver, a screwdriver with a Phillips tip, a level, and various fasteners.

All sliding doors, despite the differences in appearance, are structurally assembled from similar elements, the sequence of their installation is the same.

A standard set of parts required for the manufacture of sliding parts includes:

  • bottom guide, which is completed with 1 or 2 rollers;
  • top guide with 2 or 4 rollers;
  • wooden block 40 × 40 mm (or 50 × 50 mm);
  • a pair of stoppers;

Do not forget about the richness of choice among sliding doors - you can install sliding doors, cassette doors, folding like "accordion", radius or cascade sliding doors.

Everything you need is purchased.

We begin installation. It should be noted that the installation of sliding interior doors with your own hands includes several stages.

We prepare the doorway:

  • remove the old door,
  • we putty cracks and crevices;
  • we check the parallelism and horizontality of the upper edge of the opening and the floor;
  • we install a new box, adjusting the angle in relation to the walls and floor using wedges

Using a level, you need to align the opposite sides of the opening, as well as prepare the wall surface along which the door itself will move.

This work must be done especially carefully, otherwise you will face problems in the movement of the doors.

Using a chisel or an electric milling cutter, select a groove in the bottom end of the door.

The quality of work must meet the requirement of free and non-deflection movement of the roller in this groove;

Making such a groove ideal at home is quite problematic.

Therefore, it is better to install a profile or 2 slats.

We mount the upper part of the hinged system. Putting the canvas to the opening, mark its upper end on the wall.

This line should be strictly horizontal. Draw another line 7 cm up from it. We attach a wooden beam to it. If it is strictly horizontal, we attach it to the wall.

We attach a guide rail to the lower surface of the installed bar.

Regardless of the curvature of the surfaces of the wall or timber, it must be straight, without bends

You can accurately determine the location of the self-tapping screw as follows: the thickness of the door is divided in half and 5 mm is added for the free movement of the door - this is the distance to the wall

The markings are made and the lower guide bar is located strictly under the upper one.

Among the negative reviews about sliding doors, the most common complaints are that a lot of dust often accumulates in the parts.

Installation of sliding interior doors - self-installation of a sliding system for a door

This disadvantage can be easily eliminated if, during the cleaning of the apartment, do not forget to vacuum the parts of the sliding doors.

We attach the rollers to the sash. Generally, the instructions that come with the sliding door hardware kits describe this process in detail.

If there are no corresponding instructions in it, the brackets of the roller carriages are mounted at a distance of one centimeter from the edge of the upper end. We put a flag or a sill on the floor.

We put the stoppers and carriages with the unscrewed screws into the guide.

We install the door leaf on a sill or flag, hang it with brackets on the supporting screws and hang the sash. The distance between the bottom edge of the door and the floor is usually 8 mm. We block the sash on the rollers, loosen the screws of the stoppers and set a suitable position - the door should not stop against the stop, but by the entry of the carriage into the stopper - we fix them.

Place the lower guide in the cutout of the lower end, move the door to the "open" position and mark the maximum opening length.

We remove the nuts from the carriages and the door. We mount the bottom guide. We combine the groove with it and hang the door leaf again. Using bolts on the carriages, we set the required distance between the sash and the floor.

We decorate with platbands, install door handles, a counter lock.

If the installation was done correctly, sliding doors will serve you for years.

To do this, you just need to make sure that dust does not accumulate in the upper guide and periodically check whether the fasteners of the roller carriages and stoppers are loose.

Installing sliding doors instead of swing doors is a serious plus in terms of space saving. This is especially true for small apartments of typical buildings of the second half of the twentieth century. But even in a new spacious house / apartment, additional space will not be superfluous.

Sliding construction is a requirement of time and fashion. If you are not a convinced follower of the classics, it is better to install a sliding door-compartment instead. How to make interior sliding doors with your own hands?

Peculiarities

Sliding interior doors:

Canvas;

Sliding mechanism;

Accessories set;

Platbands;

Cassette (if you want the door to retract into the wall).

The sliding mechanism consists of guides, rails and roller carriages. There are rails with top and bottom placement (above the opening on the wall and on the floor). With the bottom placement of the rail, there are always two guides, with the upper one, one is enough. Top rail doors are considered to be more durable.

There are other advantages: the rail on the floor interferes with free movement around the apartment, dirt accumulates in it. The top rail design does not have these disadvantages. So that the door without the lower rail does not swing relative to the plane of the opening, a stop is installed on the floor, and a groove is selected at the lower end of the canvas, into which the stop enters.

A sliding door frame is usually the same as a swing frame. The only limitation: it is always U-shaped. If you have an arched opening, you will have to sacrifice something: either the idea of a compartment door, or an arch.

The door leaf for sliding doors is also no different from a conventional swing door. Folding models have differences: each accordion / book sash consists of at least two sections, they have their own standard sizes. For compartment doors, the door leaf is identical to the swing door, the dimensions are the same. Many manufacturers produce canvases that are easily adaptable to either of the two designs.

Making sliding interior doors with your own hands, you can save money: buy only a sliding mechanism and, if necessary, other accessories: stops, handles, a lock. And all the wooden components (box, canvas and even platbands) should be used from the old swing door.

It will take some labor costs for the restoration, but you will not have to spend extra money. And there is no risk of making a mistake when choosing the dimensions of the door. How to convert a swing door into a sliding door, see below.

Important: when buying a sliding mechanism, consider the design and weight of your door. The power and durability of the carriages depends on this. For a plastic or hollow canvas, a pair of aluminum rollers is enough; for massive oak, three or four steel ones are required.

Installation

Installation of sliding doors is done according to the following instructions (see video):

1. Remove the canvas, dismantle the platbands.

2. Screw the hinges, handles, lock. Cover the grooves from them on the box and canvas with putty on wood. If the door is veneered or laminated, and you do not plan to redo the coating, you will have to add pigment to the putty. In this case, you need to carefully select the color scheme. You can make a shiny putty yourself from ground sawdust and varnish.

3. At the bottom end of the blade, select a groove along the entire length (preferably with a milling cutter, since the line should be perfectly flat).

4. Select the grooves for the handles on both sides and for the lock, if necessary.

5. Screw the rollers to the upper edge of the curtain. You need to retreat from the corners at least 5 centimeters.

6. Install the guide strip on the wall above the opening. Measure the location with a level. The height of the placement is equal to the height of the blade with rollers, taking into account the gap at the bottom, the length of the guide is two blade widths.

7. Insert the stop into the lower groove.

8. Insert the rollers into the guide.

9. Align the blade vertically, fix the stop to the floor.

10. Close the end face with the guide plug.

11. Install fittings and trims.

If you are installing sliding doors in an apartment with a bottom rail, the rollers are attached from the bottom. The sequence of actions is the same: they insert the rollers into the rail, lead the upper edge of the door into the guide. Align vertically, attach the rail to the floor.

Installation of an open compartment door is simple, it is only important to clearly measure the location of all elements. It is much more problematic to mount interior sliding doors with your own hands of the "pencil case" type (installation with a cassette, when the canvas, when opened, moves into the wall). In this case, you will have to dismantle a section of the wall equal to the width of the canvas, install the cassette and sew it up with drywall.

At the same time, the volume of work increases many times over. However, such an installation is also justified: the section of the wall next to the opening remains free, because it is no longer needed to move the web. Next to it, you can put furniture, hang a picture on the wall, etc. Finally, this design looks very stylish and modern.

Initially, sliding doors were intended to save space in small rooms, where every centimeter counts, literally eaten by the swinging radius of an ordinary door. But today, the question of how to install the sliding door yourself is also asked by those who do not have to squeeze sideways from one room to another. And all because such doors are comfortable, functional and very elegant. And if you install them yourself, then they are not so expensive.

What are sliding doors

Before thinking about how to install sliding doors, you need to decide which ones you want to see in your interior.

The types of sliding systems are distinguished by the method of sliding:

1. It can be two parts of the canvases that open in both directions
2. One door goes left or right along the wall.
3. When the canvas goes into the wall, hiding in the opening of a pocket (pencil case) made of plasterboard or a finished metal cassette.

Number of canvases ...?

First of all, compartment doors, as they are also called, differ in the number and width of the canvases, which depend on the parameters of the doorway or niche that you want to close.

  1. For a standard opening, one movable canvas is enough, which will completely cover it in the closed position.
  2. For wide openings, it is more expedient to use two canvases than one wide one.
  3. If you want to partition a room by dividing it into functional zones, it is not necessary to build partitions - it is enough to install multi-leaf sliding doors. Depending on your needs, all canvases can be movable, either only the central ones or only the side ones. The options can be anything.

WHAT WILL YOU GET AS A RESULT?

Saving space. Here you do not need to waste useful space on closing and opening the door, which can be observed in the case of a swing structure. It can be used for some additional purposes.
The ability to easily open the doors without any effort.
They can be easily left ajar. No wind flow is able to close them spontaneously.
They are easily amenable to automatic regulation, that is, it is possible to automate the control system without any problems.

The advantages of sliding doors:

  • unusual, non-standard solutions;
  • lack of dead zones and problems with the arrangement of furniture;
  • security. The owner of sliding doors is not threatened with knocking on the corner of the door in an unlit room (but you need to be careful, children can stick their fingers between the wall and the door);
  • such a door will not open in a draft.

Disadvantages of sliding doors:

  • high installation cost. But, doing the work with your own hands, the costs are minimized and no higher than when installing swing doors;
  • poor insulation. The absence of obstacles to the penetration of noise, light, odors can be eliminated by installing a felt gasket on the end of the door;
  • the difficulty of caring for a pencil case, i.e. the place where the sliding door leaves with a hidden structure. This problem can be solved in two ways. With the help of a vacuum cleaner with the nozzle removed, debris is removed from the pencil case. The second option, more radical, involves removing the drywall from one side of the wall. It should be noted that in a residential building, the vacuum cleaner does an excellent job with the task;
  • the complexity of the repair. By installing the sliding door yourself, you can buy several rollers in reserve to replace them if necessary.

  • Keep in mind that there are usually no sockets and switches near the installation of the sliding door case. If you still need them on the wall, consider installing them before making a pencil case. In finished products, there is usually no place for wiring and sockets (or switches). But look, there are already manufacturers that provide for such options.
  • The sliding door can be higher than the standard swing door.
  • In order to increase sound insulation, use seals.
  • If you are making a door in a new building, do not forget to foresee how the finished floor will be located in order to take this into account when calculating.
  • For the installation of a ready-made pencil case, foam is used, which has a reduced coefficient of expansion (it hardly expands)
  • When buying a ready-made pencil case, find out what material it is mounted in (drywall, brick, concrete, etc.)
  • Use a plumb line when working, it will more accurately show the place, after installing the upper profile (or bar), where the lower guide rail should be located.
  • To prevent fasteners from loosening and loosening in the system, all adjustment screws must be fixed according to the principle of lock nuts, applying glue or sealant to the threads of the fasteners.
  • Before inserting the rollers into the upper guide, blow it thoroughly so that fine debris, shavings, scale cannot spoil their course.

Recently, the trend of installing sliding doors at home has become more and more popular. They prefer them to ordinary doors for a reason. In fact, sliding structures have a number of advantages, some of them: they open comfortably without squeaking or other noise, are not traumatic, simple and inexpensive.

Sometimes the main advantages include the fact that they allow you to save precious space in the room - well, one cannot but agree with that. Next, we will talk about how to install sliding doors with your own hands, the material will be lined up as a step-by-step installation guide.

One important point should be noted. If you irrevocably decide to install sliding doors with your own hands (videos and photos of an auxiliary nature can be found right on this page), then remember that such work is best entrusted to professional personnel, since only a masterful approach can provide the highest level of installation, and therefore guarantee a long and trouble-free operation of door components. The conversation about how to make a sliding door with your own hands is very difficult, therefore it is highly recommended to buy a ready-made kit.

Step-by-step instructions for installing sliding doors

You need to imagine the moment that the door block is delivered to the apartment, where it will be installed in the future, disassembled. He is going to the spot. The door leaf, box and casing are packed to avoid damage in transit.

Consider the installation method when the door leaf has freedom of movement along the doorway. Here it is necessary to note the main possible options for finishing the doorway: these are tiles, a decorative false box and, the simplest, ordinary wallpaper. We will not dwell on the decoration with tiles or wallpaper, but pay special attention to how the sliding door is installed with our own hands using a false box.

The false box is installed in a pre-prepared doorway and fixed with special wedges. In order to correctly control the current installation, it is necessary to use a level and a plumb line.

An important point: rollers are attached to the upper end of the door leaf, which are the main components of the sliding system. In this case, a screwdriver is used. The holes are marked with a pencil.

There are special mounts for the rollers, which, like the first ones, are included in the kit along with the entire structure. Most often, a mortise handle is installed - so it will be more convenient to open the door.

The most important moment can be called the one when the rollers with the canvas are mounted in the guide. The blade is adjusted according to the level using the same pegs.

We must not forget that a special groove must be cut in the lower end of the door leaf for the flag roller, which, in turn, is designed to protect the door from lateral vibrations.

This roller is, of course, attached directly to the floor. To fill the gaps that have arisen, polyurethane foam is used, which serves as a good fixer.

We can conclude that assembling sliding doors with your own hands is not an easy undertaking that requires certain skills and the availability of the necessary tools. It is recommended to entrust the assembly to professional workers.
