How to knit a round pillow with knitting needles. Knitted pillows are the most interesting thing on blogs. Another option for an owl pillow

Fashion is changing, the shape and design of furniture are changing, but regardless of the time today, as a hundred years or a couple of centuries ago, pillows delighted their owners and their guests.

Children and adults, sofas, rectangular, round, oval, in the form of a roller ... Probably, it is difficult to find something that creates a cozy atmosphere and sets you in a peaceful mood than decorative pillows. At the same time, it doesn’t even matter what they lie on, on a luxurious bed, sofa or on stools in the kitchen.

However, perhaps one can say with special warmth - it is knitted or crocheted pillows that differ in charm.

It can be a warm and fluffy version or a strict classic square made of dense cotton yarn. You can talk a lot about this, but the purpose of this article is not to praise such an interior item as a pillow. We want to tell you how you can completely independently add individuality, charm, as well as warmth and comfort to the interior of your house or apartment.

What you need for knitting

Let's start with the fact that you can knit it both with a crochet and with knitting needles. At the same time, for some reason, crocheted pillows are much more common. At the same time, using ordinary knitting needles, you can create no less beautiful and unique products. As they say, there would be a desire.

Here we allow ourselves to start with knitted pillows.

You will need yarn, knitting needles and a crochet hook.

Yarn

In order to knit a pillow, you can choose any yarn. It can be thick cotton, linen, wool mixture or modern threads with various "special effects". Which threads to give preference to depends only on what kind of pillow you want to knit: a simple one or decorate it with beautiful decor.

When choosing a yarn, the purpose of your product is also of great importance. If it plays a purely decorative role, then almost any yarn can be used. If you plan to actively use a self-tied pillow for its intended purpose (in a stroller for a child, under your back in a chair - it doesn’t matter), you should think about the strength and practicality of the threads from which you will tie it. The ideal option in this case would be cotton or linen - they are both durable and natural. If we are talking about a pouf pillow that will lie on the floor, then it will be possible to tie it with synthetic threads from those that can be washed without problems and do not wear out.

Having rummaged through your “bins” and brought to light the yarn left over from other works, you can achieve two goals at once - a pillow with knitting needles is a beautiful and original accessory that you will receive, at the same time getting rid of many different-sized hanks with the remnants of threads.

spokes

You can choose any knitting needles, by yarn number. The main thing is that you feel comfortable working with them.

Hook

It will also be needed when you make out the seams on your pillow. It is also advisable to choose by yarn number.

The simplest pillow can be knitted by knitting the required number of loops on the knitting needles, and then knitting a simple rectangular fabric, the width of which is equal to the width of the future pillow, and the length is twice the length of the product plus a small margin for seams. You can knit with any pattern you like. Even the usual stocking or garter stitch. If you knit a little more, you can make a valve with loops and additionally stylize your pillow with large buttons. It will turn out quickly, already quite simple and pretty.

Replace a simple pattern with embossed braids or diamonds, calculated to sit beautifully in the center of your pillow, or asymmetrically for a more original pillow.

Decorate the seams on the pillow with a crochet hook, and if you are not familiar with it, then with a regular buttonhole stitch, using a fluffy or just a thread of a contrasting color.

Pillow shapes

In addition to square or rectangular, you can knit a pillow-roller. At the same time, you can also knit it as a straight fabric, which is then sewn in an appropriate way and decorate the ends of the product in an original way. You can knit in the round using circular needles or a set of five double-edged knitting needles.

In the first case, the pattern you have chosen for the product will be located across. If you decide to knit a pillow in the round, the pattern will lie along such a pillow cushion. A plain pillow-roller will look something like this.

You can knit it striped, with inserts of yarn of a different texture, or simply of melange yarn.

In this article, we show you what knitted pillows can be. Perhaps, it is rare that a product that can be made by one's own hands can boast such scope for the imagination of craftswomen.

However, even more opportunities open up if you call for help with a crochet hook. In addition to the design of the seams in cases where the pillow is made with knitting needles, a hook in skillful hands is capable of incredible things.

Thanks to the hook, the knitted pillow can be of almost any shape.

Any yarn can also be used. As an example, we will allow ourselves to tell you how to knit a pouffe pillow with your own hands.

You will need yarn and a matching hook.

Start knitting with a chain of 4 air loops, close it in a circle. Next, knit the rise from two or three air loops instead of the first column. If you want to get a denser pillow, knit it with single crochets. Double crochets will make a less dense option.

Then we knit in the round, knitting two columns in each loop of the previous row. When you get a circle of the desired diameter, continue to knit without adding more loops. This will give you the cushion edge. What height it will be - it's up to you.

Having knitted your ottoman to the desired height, we begin to decrease the columns - we knit them not in each loop, but through one. It can be a small sofa cushion of a round shape, or a rather high pouffe, on which it is convenient to put tired legs during the day. And after completing two or three multi-colored pillows, you will get original accessories for the children's room, which, without any doubt, your kids will like.

Knitted pillows of various shapes

Here are such funny sofa cushions that can be knitted from the remnants of yarn. Information on how to knit such pillows with detailed descriptions of the work process, as well as many other ideas, you can find on our website.

I had a homemade pillow without a pillowcase for quite a long time. And it's a pity to throw it away and have nowhere to adapt it. The idea came to mind that you can knit a cover for her and give a pillow to a cat! 🙂 She loves all sorts of soft beds! I chose the most simple pattern. So, let's see step by step photos of how to knit a pillowcase on a pillow with knitting needles!

We will need:

  1. Pillow
  2. Yarn
  3. spokes
  4. Hook
  5. decorative beads

This pillow could not find its purpose! Inside it is stuffed with foam rubber and synthetic winterizer. In general, knitting a pillowcase on a pillow with knitting needles is much easier than it seems!

The size of my pillow is 40 * 45 cm. In order to save yarn, I purchased the cheapest skeins for 19 rubles / piece. I needed 12 skeins of dark green and 1 skein of light green thread for tying and buttons. I decided to knit in 2 parts from bottom to top in width.

Cast on 95 stitches

Front side

  1. We remove the first loop and knit 18 loops with front stitch
  2. Next, knit 19 purl loops
  3. We continue to alternate 19 loops of facial / purl. We knit the last loop on the wrong side, regardless of the pattern.

purl

  1. We knit according to the pattern. Do not forget that the first loop is always removed, and the last loop is knitted on the wrong side.

We should get 5 "blanks" for the squares. We knit such a number of rows that we get an even square and change the pattern, starting from the front side.

We continue knitting to the end of the length of the pillow.

We close the loops! We knit 2 loops together and re-shoot the resulting loop on the working knitting needle. Again we knit 2 loops together. We continue to the end.

We tie our half. We need a skein of the required color and a hook. We knit the work with a single crochet.

Here's what we get! 🙂

By the same principle, we knit part 2. We finish the square with an elastic band 2 through 2. Don't forget about the buttonholes! I knitted 6 loops according to the elastic pattern, then cast off 6 loops and continued knitting according to the pattern (7 loops). Then again closing 6 loops and so on. In the purl row, we throw our closed 6 loops on the knitting needle. The front row must be knitted according to the gum pattern. Do not forget that the length of the second part should be approximately 1 full square longer than the first. In general, it is better to look at work. We should have a full overlap on the first part of the button cushion. We close the loops and tie the work.

These are the holes for the buttons we should get.

Don't forget to tie the buttonholes. Next, we connect the two parts from the wrong side with a light green thread with a single crochet.

We should get such a cover.

We knit buttons

We take a hook and the necessary yarn. We collect 6 air loops.

We make a ring. To do this, we need to knit a working loop through the first loop with a single crochet.

There should be a column like this.

We begin to knit our ring with single crochets.

Insert the hook into the center of the ring and pull up the thread. We get 2 loops. We stretch the working thread through them.

We've got this ring.

We make a rise for the second row.

We knit another circle only with a double crochet!

Here we knit 3 loops at a time.

Did you know that a pillow can take any geometric shape, as well as the shape of any object or animal. Only on our website there is a description of pillows in the form of a heart, a lamb, Winnie the Pooh, owls, stars, cats, a rooster and female forms. The fantasy of needlewomen knows no bounds. Many beautiful covers and pillowcases are knitted from square motifs, especially the grandmother's square beloved by all of us.

An easy way to crochet an unusual pillow

First, choose the shape of the future product:

  • square
  • rectangle
  • roller
  • cube?

We knit with double crochets or without the desired shape. There are a lot of schemes on the Internet and in our section “for beginners”. For the first three options, you need to knit two identical parts: front or wrong side. We take schemes of flowers, leaves, round motifs, maybe even elements of Irish lace, knit a few of them and sew them on the front side of the cover. Your unique pillow is ready!
The drawing was invented by you personally and no one can repeat it. Someone got such a beautiful cover:

If you have a cushion cover ready but need to update it quickly.

In this case, select the appropriate threads by color and crochet any beautiful napkin. The main condition is that the diameter of the napkin should be no larger than the pillowcase. Wash the napkin, steam and sew on the pillow. Ready-made pillows for the base can be bought at Ikea. By the way, this is a great idea for a housewarming gift or for giving. Not much work and time was spent, and the handicraft thing will remind the owner of your concern.

Crochet pillow, ideas from our website

We have prepared a selection of the most beautiful crocheted pillows and posted on the website.

I contacted a small decorative pillow from the remnants of threads. This is my first experience in knitting with motifs. I used the Children's Novelty from Pekhorka and hook No. 2. It took about one and a half hanks of both colors. The size is 34*34 cm. The front side of the pillow is made of embossed motifs with a pattern of lush "heart" columns, the back side is made of simple square motifs.

For the front, I knitted 9 motifs, of which 5 are yellow, 4 are white, and for the back, on the contrary, 4 are yellow and 5 are white.

Thus, colored motifs were distributed throughout the pillow in a checkerboard pattern.

Lush column

Often there are such knitting patterns, where two or more columns are tied together. If they are knitted into one loop of the previous row, then this column is called magnificent. They do it this way: all the columns - a double crochet or a double crochet are knitted to half, that is, the last loop of each column remains on the hook - it is not tied. How many columns - so many loops remain on the hook, plus the main loop. Grab the thread and pull it through all the loops and knit another air loop.

So, we knit 5 motifs according to scheme No. 1 with a yellow heart, 4 white motifs, and we tie each motif with one row of RLS with a thread in the color of the motif. Now we will knit 5 white and 4 yellow squares according to scheme No. 2. To get a square of the same size as a motif with a heart, six rows and tying in a circle of RLS will be enough.

Now let's put the motives in the correct order:

and start connecting them. I decided to use a relief protruding seam for the front relief part of the pillow, making it white. That is, you just need to connect both motives with one row of RLS. To do this, we pick up the motives with the front side out and begin to connect them by inserting a hook under both walls of the loop:

You need to start from the first loop of the strapping of this edge, without affecting only the most corner loop of the strapping. When 2 motifs are connected, we leave 2 corner loops of the strapping not connected, we make an air loop

and "attach" the next 2 motives similarly to the first two. We do the same with all other motives of the front side of the pillow. Now the motifs are connected along, let's move on to connecting the remaining sides.

The connection occurs in the same way as before, only now at the intersection of the seams after the end of the connection of 2 motives to the next 2, we do not make the VP, but simply stretch one loop that connects the motives a little more than usual:

This is enough so that the corners of the four motifs are not pulled together and the intersection of the seams does not bulge.
When all the motifs are connected, you need to tie the RLS in a circle around the resulting canvas in order to align the edges, and the connection of the front and back canvases was convenient:

We connect the motifs of the back of the pillow, also with a white thread. Since they are flat, without relief, we will perform the seam for the connection on the wrong side of the motifs. The connection takes place in the same way as the connection of the front leaf

Now we sew a zipper on the right side, and crochet the remaining edges on the wrong side of the RLS in the same way, for both walls of the loops. Especially for this cover, I sewed a small pillow, which, unfortunately, turned out to be a little smaller than necessary. Now we turn the cover on the front side and put it on the pillow.
It turned out to be a nice decorative pillow. On the one hand there is a relief, and on the other side you can lie down :)

Owl pillow. The idea is not mine. It was seen on the vastness of the almighty Internet, such owls are knitted by a certain lady from Norway. I liked the idea, but the scheme was nowhere to be found. Then, peering at the photographs, I repeated what I saw and it happened at

A pillow is an essential attribute of a night's sleep, daytime rest, as well as the interior decor of a bedroom, living room, nursery. An original, soft and warm do-it-yourself knitted pillow gives the room the comfort of a home, makes the home comfortable, and warms even in the cold of winter.

Knitting a pillow with knitting needles is possible even for a beginner needlewoman.

It is also a great opportunity to practice knitting complex patterns with knitting needles.

The main difference between a textile pillowcase and a cover knitted from yarn is that the latter element has a predominantly decorative purpose. He creates a single ensemble, including a pillow cover, a bedspread, and other textile items that match in color and stylistic design.

The pillow cover can be single-sided or double-sided.

The front part can be connected with complex patterns: braids, arans, and the reverse side is simply a front surface.

Covers are designed so that pillows that are not used for sleeping can be used as sofas, floor pillows - decorating the room interior. A knitted accessory will protect the item from abrasion, creating coziness in the room. It is desirable that the cover has a zipper, buttons - then it will be convenient to remove it for washing.

If you choose an openwork, airy pattern for the pillow, then you need to sew a fabric cover as a lining.

How to tie a pillow with your own hands

It is easy to knit a pillow on your own - it is enough to have 200-400 grams of yarn of a suitable color, knitting needles or a hook of the appropriate thickness, a little patience and imagination. Beginning knitters should choose the lightest knitting pillow model.

Sofa cushions perfectly cope with an important task - the placement of colorful accents in the interior.

The undeniable advantage of sofa cushions is their low cost.

Tip: You can tie only the upper square part of the cover, and sew the bottom of the fabric or tie a long rectangle with which to wrap the existing product.

Ideas for knitted pillow covers

The easiest and fastest way to tie a pillow is with stockinette stitch, garter stitch or regular elastic. A product with a checkerboard pattern looks a little more interesting, each cell of which is four loops wide and four rows high. The button cover is done like this: first, a rectangle is knitted, large enough to wrap the pad, but the last 8-10 rows are made with a loose one-on-one elastic band. The finished model is simply fastened with buttons.

By learning how to knit pillows with your own hands, you can change covers from time to time and bring fresh notes to the decor of the room.

Sofa cushions complement not only the corner of the sofa, but also look good on armchairs, chairs, beds.

A pillow with embossed “bumps” is an equally interesting idea. To make a “bump” from one loop, three are made, after which the work is turned twice, front loops are knitted on the “front” side, and purl loops on the wrong side. After 4 rows, the extra loops are again reduced, knitting one, the “bumps” are evenly distributed over the entire surface. A simple relief is obtained from braids knitted with facial loops. The optimal width of such a “braid” is 6-8 loops, the length of each “link” is 10-12 rows.

Beautiful and original pillows will become the hallmark of your home.

The product with an openwork pattern looks very original. An example is a “zigzag”, a description of its rapport:

  • the number of loops is a multiple of nine;
  • 1-4th p. knit facial;
  • 5th - all facial loops: 2 together, 2 knit as usual, 7 is knitted from one, 2 ordinary, 2 together;
  • 6, 8, 10th p. - all purl;
  • 7th p. - all facial: 2 together, 9 regular, 2 together;
  • 9th p. - only facial: 2 together, 7 regular, 2 together;
  • then the rapport is repeated until the end of the product.

Original pillows will set your style in the interior or emphasize the existing one.

Openwork includes "leaves", as a strip of leaves is made, located in the middle or edge of the pillow:

  • rapport - 25 loops, even rows are knitted with purl loops;
  • 1st row - 1-5 - front, 2 knit one, front, 2 one, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 - front, 10, 12, 14, 16 - yarn over, 2 fit one, front, two one , 21-25 - facial;
  • 3rd r. - 1-4 - front, 2 knit one, front, 2 one, 8, 10, 12-14, 16, 18 - front, 9, 11, 15, 17 - yarn, 2 knit one, front, two one, 22 -25 - facial;
  • 5th p. - 1-3 - front, 2 knit one, front, 2 one, 7, 9, 11-15, 17, 19 - front, 8, 10, 16, 18 - yarn, 2 knit one, front, two one, 23 -25 - facial;
  • 7th p. - 1-2 - front, 2 knit one, front, 2 one, 6, 8, 10-16, 18, 20 - front, 7, 9, 17, 19 - yarn, 2 knit one, front, two one, 24 -25 - facial.

There are so many options for knitted sofa cushions and patterns that you are sure to find something to your liking.

It all depends on how far your fantasy takes you.

Tip: If you are going to sleep on a pillow, the cover should not be prickly. The best material for this is acrylic yarn with a little addition of other fibers.

Pumpkin pillow

An interesting option suitable for a children's room is a pumpkin floor pillow, made on five knitting needles. Depending on the size, it will need 200-500 grams of orange yarn and some green. First you need to dial 8 loops with green threads, close them in a circle, distribute them on 4 knitting needles, knit 10 rows.

Original pumpkin pillow for interior decoration.

Bright, soft and cozy pumpkin pleases the eye and amuses the soul.

From 11 to 20 rows, loops should be gradually added to make a circle, after which the green thread breaks, and knitting continues with an orange thread until the pillow reaches the desired diameter. The next 15-20 cm are knitted without increments, after the loops they gradually decrease. In order for the pumpkin to take on a realistic shape, it is tightened - with a strong thread to match the pumpkin, the pillow is divided into 8 "slices".

A charming pumpkin pillow, or maybe a whole family of pumpkins, can settle in your home.

About the same, with the exception of constrictions, a round pillow is created with knitting needles for the floor. The product has a diameter of about one meter, a height of 50 cm. It is knitted with an elastic band, front stitch, or any other pattern. For work you will need 900-1000 gr. yarn, knitting needles no thinner than the 10th number, a sufficient amount of filler (foam rubber, synthetic winterizer) - the ottoman should come out quite dense, a knitted pillowcase bag.

The colors of the yarn for this pillow are chosen so that it resembles a ripe pumpkin.

Tip: You can make a “warty” pumpkin by decorating it with “bumps”, decorate it with knitted leaves, ladybugs.

colored pillows

Pillows can be decorated with colored patterns - stripes, geometric shapes, flowers, whole paintings. To perform any desired color pattern, you can open the photo you like in the Paint program, enlarge it to the desired size, select the appropriate threads and start knitting. Each cell here represents a separate loop.

Pillows on the sofa, knitted, will be able to emphasize the advantages of the interior.

Even a beginner needlewoman can choose for herself a beautiful pattern among a variety of options.

Knitting a pillow with knitting needles is no more difficult than crocheting. The last tool is easiest to use for knitting round pillows. A two-color black and white pillow with a checkerboard pattern is done like this:

  • even rows are knitted with white threads, odd rows are knitted with black;
  • a chain of three loops closes into a ring, into which 6 loops are knitted with single crochets;
  • in the next row, the number of loops doubles - they are performed with double crochets;
  • in the third row, three double crochets are knitted in the first loop, the second is skipped, three stitches are again in the third, skip the fourth, etc .;
  • in the fourth row, three columns are knitted from a loop located above the one that was missed in the last row, then one air loop is knitted, three columns from an “empty” place, an air loop, etc .;
  • in subsequent rows, the number of air loops and columns increases, but so that the product looks like a slightly convex circle;
  • you need to tie two identical halves, which will later be connected with single crochets.

The appearance of the product, its thickness, pattern density and ease of use depend on the chosen yarn.

Craftswomen advise choosing yarn with acrylic and wool for pillows, so that the fabric turns out to be moderately soft and elastic.

The pillow can be "assembled" from pre-connected multi-colored pieces - squares, triangles, flowers, both the same and different.

For decorative products, you can use fantasy patterns and combinations.

You can knit a pillow with knitting needles for beginners using a simple technique.

Tip: The finished pillow is decorated with crocheted lace, flowers or bows, also crocheted.

Conclusion

Knitting pillows with knitting needles using one or many colors, acrylic or any other yarn is not at all difficult when detailed patterns of patterns and job descriptions are at hand.

Homemade knitted pillows and pillows are an easy way to diversify the interior design, decorate the room in an original way, and surprise guests with the skills of the master.
