What paint for the ceiling is better to buy

All ceiling paints presented in our rating, regardless of the category chosen, have gained popularity among users due to their excellent qualities and characteristics. What is better to buy, acrylic or water-based, matte or glossy paint, the owner decides. It all depends on the type of premises, the level of illumination, the design of the ceiling, and the personal preferences of the buyer.

The best solution is PROFILUX PL-04 A, a universal white ceiling paint at an average price, produced in Germany.

This material is subjective, does not constitute advertising and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before buying, you need to consult with a specialist.

Experienced homeowners recall with horror this type of wall and ceiling decoration as whitewash. On the one hand, there is a beautiful snow-white surface, and on the other, there are a lot of problems. In a very timely manner, manufacturers of paints and varnishes developed alternative types of paints. With their help, you can decorate the ceiling and walls in an ultra-white color, or add a highlight in the form of a multi-colored coating. Compares favorably with archaic whitewashing and care of the painted surface. In most cases, ceilings and walls can be washed carefree by adding mildly alkaline detergents to the water. When choosing the right paint, experts recommend paying attention to several points.

Criteria for choosing paint for ceiling and walls

    Many buyers start with a price range. But cheap budget paint can make repairs very expensive. The fact is that each paint has its own hiding power indicator. If it is possible to achieve perfect coverage in one pass, then it will be more profitable than applying 2-3 coats with a drying break. The total cost of the repair is also influenced by the paint consumption.

    An important parameter for users will be durability of the painted surface... High-quality paint, after drying, has water and dirt repellency, does not change its original color even when exposed to sunlight.

    When choosing a material, it is worth considering the nature of the room. Almost all paints behave well in heated rooms. But not all products can withstand temperature extremes and high humidity.

Are you happy with your ceiling? If not, then something needs to be done urgently. One of the easiest, most affordable and very quick ways to solve the problem is painting. It is surprising, but even with a number of alternatives, people do not stop painting the ceiling surface - and are satisfied with the result. True, it depends on a number of important factors, and one of them concerns which paint for the ceiling in an apartment is best suited for renovation. Today's choice in hardware stores makes you think about this issue much more seriously than people thought 5-10 years ago. We offer our help in resolving the current dilemma.

Criterias of choice

To begin with, it is worth explaining one simple, but very important thing: alas, there is no universal choice. However, you can get as close as possible to it - and for this, the study of the functional features of the room in the apartment where staining is planned will come in handy. For convenience, we have compiled the most important criteria that must be adhered to when choosing paint for the ceiling in an apartment:

  1. the duration of high-quality operation - the applied paint should not crumble over time, the ceiling should retain freshness and novelty for the maximum amount of time;
  2. the possibility of dry and wet cleaning - dust and dirt accumulate on any surface, and the ceiling is no exception, but if irreparable defects become the result of your thorough cleaning, it will be very unpleasant for everyone;
  3. comfortable application of the layer to the ceiling surface - the material used should cover the entire working area and delicately hide any existing imperfections;
  4. resistance to high humidity and temperature extremes is a very important criterion, especially if you are going to make repairs in the kitchen or in the bathroom;
  5. affordability - you shouldn't pay fabulous sums for paint, even if it will be a unique effective material widely advertised on the web and on television: remember that one of the advantages of coloring is economy for your budget, and in the case of a very expensive coloring composition, you simply you lose your main trump card.
  6. visual perception - any repair, even the most insignificant, is started in order to improve the appearance of the apartment, and if the paint does not cope with this task, then you made the wrong choice.

Among all of the above, it is very important to select paint for the ceiling in an apartment, where it is required to process the ceiling surface in rooms with special temperature conditions. In such cases, it comes to the fore water resistance criterion... Conventional paints do not perform well and are not at all suitable for applications where there is a potential for contact with water. As a rule, we are talking about kitchens and bathrooms. In addition, such formulations are very afraid of wet cleaning. Unlike waterproof ceiling paints.

Want to save money? Save money, only then you will have to blame yourself - after all, the miser pays twice!

The choice of paint by type of surface

Everything is quite clear here: someone is impressed by a catchy glossy surface, someone, on the contrary, wants to see their ceiling restrained. Many are attracted by interesting textured solutions that allow curious patterns to be spread throughout the entire area of the apartment.   • versatile - suitable for rooms with any functionality;
  • do an excellent job of masking existing surface defects;
  • more affordable.

  • "golden mean" between the two main types of paints discussed above;
  • create a moderately noticeable gloss of the coating, but much more restrained than the usual gloss;
  • more practical and versatile;
  • you can adjust the gloss level by experimenting with different formulations.

Textured

Benefits of gloss paint

  • moisture resistance: thanks to this characteristic, gloss paint is an excellent option for covering the ceiling in a room with high humidity, such as a bathroom;
  • ease of cleaning: since the gloss is resistant to moisture and chemical influences, you can at any time wash off all dirt from the ceiling using an ordinary damp cloth or a sponge with a detergent applied to it, so this paint is perfect for rooms with a high level of pollution - for example, for the kitchen, where fat and soot constantly settle on the ceiling;
  • abrasion resistance: Thanks to the high abrasion resistance of the glossy paint, you can wash the ceiling as often as you want, without damaging the coating during the cleaning process.

All these advantages make the gloss paint finish very durable. If it is applied correctly, such a ceiling will serve for a very long time. At the same time, glossy paint looks very impressive and attractive, and due to the fact that it can be washed, the coating will retain its appearance for many years.

Using glossy paint, you can visually expand the room - the shine on the ceiling gives just such an effect. Therefore, this type of coating is perfect for small spaces. However, you can successfully use it in large rooms, which, thanks to the gloss, will seem even more spacious.

Note! It must be borne in mind that to visually enlarge the room, only paints of light shades are suitable - they allow you to fill the room with air and light, making it visually larger than it really is.

The use of black and other dark colors, on the contrary, leads to the fact that the room is visually reduced in size.

disadvantages

However, this type of coating also has two significant disadvantages.

  1. Due to the fact that it has a pronounced shine, all irregularities and other imperfections in the ceiling will be as noticeable as possible. This problem is aggravated by the fact that usually light shades of glossy paint are used for ceilings. Therefore, it is imperative to carefully level the surface, bringing it to an ideal state, before applying the coloring composition. If your ceilings have various irregularities, and you are not ready to spend money and time fixing them, glossy paint will not work for you. In this case, you can use a matte coloring composition of a suitable shade, the use of which, on the contrary, will allow you to hide existing defects.
  2. A glossy ceiling is not suitable for every room, since the entire interior must be combined with it. Otherwise, the room will look tasteless. A very interesting option can be gloss painting not only the ceiling, but also the walls.

Types of glossy paint for ceiling coating

Comparative characteristics of the main types of glossy paint are given in the form of a table.

Table. Types of glossy paint.

Paint typeKey Features

Water emulsion is a time-tested version of the ceiling coating. It is diluted with water, and you can choose the desired shade by mixing two or more different colors.

Acrylic, on the other hand, is a relatively new type of paint. However, he has already managed to gain great popularity. The main advantages are the same as those of a water emulsion.

Latex paint is non-toxic, durable and dries quickly. However, it is not very suitable for creating color schemes on your own, as it does not mix well.

Water-based paints do not give up their positions, despite the emergence of many new materials. Perhaps they are still the most popular ceiling dyes. Water emulsions are environmentally friendly and can be used in any room, including children's rooms, they allow the surface of the ceiling to breathe and at the same time are inexpensive.

Acrylic fits perfectly on all types of surfaces and perfectly retains its pleasant and saturated color for a long time, without fading under the influence of sunlight and other unfavorable factors. At the same time, a wide range of acrylic coloring compositions of any shade is presented in stores.

Latex paint is quite expensive, but it can be applied in a very thin layer. The coating will still turn out to be reliable and durable and will have a good appearance. Glossy latex paint has all the advantages of the dyes listed above - it is durable, easy to clean and has good abrasion resistance.

water-based gloss paint

It is important! All of the listed types of coloring compositions that can be used to cover the ceiling do not require the use of a solvent. Due to this, they do not have a strong unpleasant odor, therefore, they can be worked with in a closed room without constant access to fresh air. If you use water-based, acrylic or latex paint, the work will not cause you much trouble and will be carried out with maximum comfort.

How to choose a ceiling paint

When choosing paint in a store, carefully read the information on the can. Here you will find information about consumption per 1 m² of surface, moisture resistance, abrasion resistance and so on. If the store where you shop has a really good sales assistant, be sure to ask them for advice. In this case, you will not have to wander among the rows of banks for a long time, looking for a suitable option. However, sellers who can be trusted are very rare, so in any case, before buying, you should familiarize yourself with the information indicated on the package.

When choosing, pay attention to a few more important points.

  1. Buy paint that is designed for indoor use - there are a large number of special formulations designed specifically for ceilings, you can also take paint designed for ceilings and walls.
  2. It is better to buy paint that does not correspond to the technical specifications, but to GOST - in this case, the likelihood of avoiding buying a low-quality product will increase significantly.
  3. Despite the fact that water-based, acrylic or latex paint can be tinted independently, it will be better to use the ready-made color or entrust the tinting process to the store's specialists.

After you have chosen a suitable coloring composition, calculate how much is needed to cover the surface to be painted, taking into account the hiding power. In general, the consumption of glossy paint is very low - as a rule, a liter can is enough to cover a ceiling of 10-12 m².

Semi-gloss ceiling paints

In addition to matte and glossy paints, there is also an intermediate option - semi-gloss. They have a moderate gloss, while, just like glossy, they are distinguished by increased resistance to moisture, abrasion resistance and durability. Semi-gloss paint can also be washed with water or cleaning agents without fear of damaging it or reducing its lifespan.

However, it must be borne in mind that in all these parameters, semi-gloss paints are inferior to glossy ones. At the same time, they do not emphasize the flaws on the surface so much, therefore they can be a good option for rooms in which the ceiling has minor defects. However, it is rather difficult to predict whether you can get a good result by covering such a ceiling with a semi-gloss. Therefore, in order for the repair not to turn into a lottery, it will be better to level the surface, bringing it to perfect condition - just as in the case of gloss painting. In this case, you don't have to worry about the appearance of the ceiling after painting.

It is also worth noting that a semi-gloss ceiling does not look as bright and textured as a glossy one. Thanks to this, it can be used in many rooms, in the interior of which the gloss simply does not fit.

Do-it-yourself coating of the ceiling with glossy paint

The process of painting the ceiling is simple and complex at the same time. On the one hand, in order to cover the surface, you just need to prepare it, and then apply the coloring composition in one or several layers - even a child can cope with this. But at the same time, you must know how to approach the matter correctly, do all the work without unnecessary haste and fuss and strictly follow the technology in order to get the highest quality result.

Important! As noted above, a glossy paint coating is durable, which is why you need to approach the process very carefully. In this case, you will get a ceiling that will serve you for many years without causing any problems or questions.

Coating the ceiling with glossy paint takes place in 5 main stages. However, depending on the specific situation, there is a chance that some of them can be skipped without prejudice to the final result - it all depends on the condition of the coverage.

Step 1. The first step is to completely clean the ceiling of old paint. But often it is not necessary to do this - if the surface itself is even, and the old coloring composition lies on it well, does not come off and does not peel off, you can paint directly on it.

Step 2. The second step is to level the ceiling. It is necessary to do this procedure only if the surface has irregularities. Keep in mind that light glossy paint, as mentioned above, will reveal all the blemishes of the ceiling to the fullest, making them as visible to the eye as possible. To get a really beautiful ceiling, it is very important to make the surface perfectly flat before painting.

Step 3. Apply a primer to the cleaned and prepared surface, selected according to the type of paint you have chosen. In the event that you are going to paint over the old coating, you do not need to do this - it is enough to sand and degrease the paint that is already on the ceiling to ensure good adhesion to the new paint composition.

Step 4. Apply paint around the perimeter of the ceiling with a small brush.

Step 5. After that, apply the coloring compound over the entire area of the ceiling using a brush, roller or spray gun. If you prefer to apply paint with a roller, you can use any paint - velor, polyamide, foam or fur.

Important work points

It is better to start applying paint from the window, and then gradually move deeper into the room. It may take from one to three layers to properly cover the ceiling, but in most cases two is sufficient. If you want to achieve a really bright, effective and dazzling gloss, polish the surface after drying. This procedure can be carried out from time to time throughout the entire life of the coating.

Layers can be oriented in different ways during painting.

  1. You can put them crosswise - for example, if you applied the first along the room, then the second should be laid across. This option will allow you to get the most even coverage.
  2. The Finnish method provides that the paint is applied parallel to the window, that is, perpendicular to the direction of the rays.
  3. In the Swedish method of painting, the composition, on the contrary, is placed parallel to the rays of the sun, which enter the room through the window.

Since the glossy dye composition reflects light well, the question of how to orient the layers is worth paying attention to, because this type of coating, unlike matte, actively interacts with the sun throughout its entire service life. This property should be used to the maximum in order to give the room the desired look.

Do not forget to let the putty or other material that you used to level the ceiling dry well before applying the first coat of paint, and then thoroughly dry the previous one before applying each next coat. Thanks to this, you can avoid the appearance of cracks, bubbles and other defects on the paint, which can greatly spoil the appearance of the surface. Up to the point that the paint will have to be removed and new applied.

Even if you have never used glossy paint to cover something before and for the first time thought that you can paint the ceiling with it, do not be afraid to stop at this option. And if your ceilings are already flat or you are ready to spend a little time and money to remove all the flaws, bringing the condition of their surface to the ideal, then you can get an excellent result by putting gloss on them.

Any room with such a ceiling will truly transform: it will sparkle and shine, it will seem larger and more spacious. In the event that it has a window, the sun will play on the glossy paint, filling the room with additional light. Due to the fact that the glossy paint coating is also distinguished by its durability, moisture resistance, abrasion resistance and washes well, it will be an excellent option for finishing the ceiling that can breathe new life into your interior and delight you, your family members and guests of the house for many years.

Video - How to paint the ceiling perfectly

When the ceiling is installed or putty, it's time to think about painting it. It is necessary to decide not only with the color, but also with the type of paint. For example, it is not recommended to use oil, due to the fact that it creates a vapor-impermeable film, moreover, it has a pungent smell and dries for a long time. The best paint to the ceiling is still water-based or water-dispersion compositions. The article will discuss in detail the types of paints and the best manufacturers.

Today the construction market abounds in paints for ceilings in different price categories. Arriving at the store, eyes run up from dozens of cans, which at first glance are the same. All of them are full of labels and it is no wonder that it will be difficult to make the right choice without additional knowledge.

Of course, you can turn to consultants, but this does not guarantee that you will be able to choose the optimal combination of price and quality, since the primary task of sellers is to sell more expensive formulations.

But, even after studying the classification of paints and varnishes, it is impossible to figure out right away what is sold in a particular bank. Therefore, you need to take your time reading the characteristics that the manufacturer indicates on the etiquette. First of all, attention is paid to its composition, or rather, on the basis of which component the paint is produced. And also for the duration of drying, the consumption of the composition per m2, resistance to abrasion, moisture or water resistance, purpose. For example:

  • sometimes there is a note on the paint bucket that the composition is resistant to dry abrasion. This means that it is allowed to wipe the painted surface with a dry sponge or vacuum, but wipe it with a damp cloth, and even more so it cannot be washed. Most often, inexpensive water-based paints have such characteristics. They are quite suitable for painting the ceiling;
  • also, the manufacturer can give information that the paint can only be used in rooms with low operating loads. This means for dry rooms such as a bedroom, dressing room or hallway. There is one more nuance, in rooms where people smoke often, this paint may turn yellow. She is not recommended to paint the ceiling in the kitchen or bathroom;
  • possessing abrasion-resistant properties and being indelible, the composition is much more versatile. It can be washed with soap and water. True, it will not be possible to completely wash the stain, and, perhaps, a trace will remain if you rub it hard. But in general, it will be possible to refresh the color of the ceiling by removing dust from it;

  • some water-based paints impart strength characteristics. With the inscription that it is dirt-repellent or washable, you can safely buy it for painting the ceiling in the kitchen or in a room with high humidity. It can be washed with alkaline detergents and done repeatedly without deteriorating its appearance.

Nuances when choosing paint for the ceiling

  • The color of the paint for the ceiling and its texture are selected based on the style of the room, its color scheme and purpose. It is divided into 3 main types: matte, semi-gloss and glossy. The latter best helps to visually enlarge the space of the room, and the matte white paint will give the room a discreet nobility and poise.
  • When preparing the ceiling surface for painting, it is necessary to achieve perfect evenness. This applies to puttying and sanding. The paint will not only not hide even minor irregularities, but, on the contrary, will emphasize them even more. Glossy staves, more resistant to abrasion, will more clearly highlight all depressions or bulges. Slightly more loyal in this regard is matte paint, which masks small defects. It is best, in this case, to choose something in between, for example, a semi-glossy one.

  • Water-based paint, due to the presence of water in its composition, loses its characteristics after freezing. Therefore, it is not recommended to buy it in winter in markets that are not equipped with a heated warehouse.
  • At first glance, paints with the same properties have a wide range of prices. But this is not entirely true, because expensive brands often have less paint consumption per square meter. Therefore, when recalculating the volume of paint in a bucket by the number of painted meters, the cost of expensive and cheap compositions does not differ so much.
  • Paradoxical as it may seem, sometimes the paint of a trusted manufacturer turns out to be worse than a less well-known one. This happens due to the high cost of the compositions of the promoted brands, so they are more often faked. The new manufacturer is still little known, and therefore offers its products of good quality at a low price.
  • Now it is often written on cans with paint that it is intended for painting ceilings. If such a narrow specification is not indicated on it, then it is necessary to choose a universal one for internal work. It has good coverage, and most importantly, when applied, it immediately falls on the surface without forming drops.

  • Do not be alarmed if, during application, the paint has a slight shade instead of snow-white. The manufacturer adds a special pigment to it so that non-painted surfaces are better visible, and after drying it completely disappears, leaving the painted surface of the ceiling completely white.
  • Glossy ceiling paint... It creates a mirror-like effect that looks beautiful only on a perfectly evenly putty ceiling. It is preferable to use in small rooms, which it will visually enlarge. Washes well and attracts less dust.
  • Matt ceiling paint... It absorbs light well, so it slightly hides the flaws of the ceiling. Due to its good coverage, a single coat may be sufficient. When dry, even washable species form a porous surface. Because of what it washes worse than a glossy counterpart.

What type of paint is best for the ceiling

Types of paint that are suitable for painting the ceiling:

  • acrylic;
  • water-based;
  • silicone;
  • latex.

All of the above types do not have a pungent odor, dry quickly, are easy to apply and form a washable surface. The manufacturer could further improve the composition by adding components that improve moisture-resistant qualities.

They fit well on the ceiling with brushes, rollers or a spray gun. Any of these tools is capable of achieving uniformity and uniformity of the coating.

Water-based and water-based dispersion paint

  • The classic version of ceiling paint is water-based compositions. For many decades they have been chosen for their low price and environmental friendliness. Water-based, they are odorless, dry quickly and are easy to use. Upon contact with the surface, they are easily washed off with a sponge soaked in water. Washable paints are an exception, but they are easy to clean if removed before drying.
  • Water-based paint has excellent adhesion to the putty surface of the ceiling, it is easy to tint even with your own hands (when buying a color scheme in a specialized store, the seller calculates exactly how much color will need to be added per liter of paint to achieve the desired shade).

  • Water-dispersion is similar in properties to water-based emulsion, but more resistant to abrasion and washing. Therefore, they are recommended for ceilings in bathrooms and kitchens.
  • After drying, they create a vapor-permeable coating, which is especially important when the floor is made of wood. Some manufacturers add special antiseptic and antifungal components to them. In a room with high humidity, this will prevent the formation of mold.

Acrylic ceiling paint

  • Compared to water-based paints, its price is significantly higher. Therefore, for painting the ceiling, which is rarely exposed to mechanical stress, it is not chosen so often. But the higher price is justified by the excellent properties and characteristics.
  • Thus, it forms a durable coating suitable for repeated washing. At the same time, the decorative layer does not wear off and does not fade.
  • Acrylic paint is not afraid of ultraviolet radiation, which means it does not fade even in direct sunlight. For the most part, this is important for colored ceilings. Acrylic compounds do not need to be tinted on their own; they are sold in a large assortment of colors.
  • When dry, it does not emit an unpleasant odor, and due to its viscous consistency, lying on the surface, it is able to mask even small cracks.

  • The color on the label is always slightly darker than at first glance the paint itself in the can. This is due to the fact that after drying, acrylic paints acquire a more intense shade.

Latex ceiling paint

  • This is an excellent option for painting the ceiling, but its popularity is not so high due to the cost of the composition. But this price is fully justified, since the coating turns out to be very scratch-resistant, wash-resistant and with an attractive appearance and vapor-permeable.
  • Despite its high resistance to humid environments, additional antifungal primers or impregnations will be required when covering the ceiling in wet areas such as shower rooms, bathrooms or swimming pools. The fact is that latex paint is weakly resistant to fungal formations.
  • As already mentioned above, it does not have an unpleasant odor and is not harmful to health, therefore, it can be painted even indoors without ventilation. In addition, it dries quickly, it takes 30-120 minutes to fully set.

  • Latex paints have good coverage and adhesion to almost all types of substrates, but manufacturers recommend using a primer before application.

But she also has disadvantages:

  • low resistance to ultraviolet rays, which means that bright colors in the sun fade quite quickly;
  • poorly tolerates low temperatures, due to which the entire surface is covered with small cracks, with prolonged drops in temperature, and completely exfoliates.

What paint to choose for the ceiling

Having made a brief announcement on the most common types of paints and varnishes suitable for painting the ceiling, now you should pay attention to what exactly you should rely on when choosing.

  • First of all, this is her hiding power, which indicates the consumption and the required amount of material.
  • If the ceiling has errors, then you need to make sure of the degree masking effect paints.

  • Operational features of the resulting coating.
  • Price.

The main differences are in quality, price and possible colors.

Rating of the best ceiling paint

  • It is considered by many professionals to be one of the best glossy ceiling paints.
  • It is sold in a 10 liter plastic bucket called dufa superweiss. The average cost is 3,500 rubles.
  • Its advantages are good hiding power, snow-white glossy surface, strength and durability. And all this for a reasonable price of 300-500 rubles / l.
  • The unobtrusive gloss of the ceiling is a priority for most buyers. In a bright room, it additionally emphasizes the snow-white color, and visually enlarges a small room.
  • In the Dufa product line, there are special decorative compositions for creating spectacular textures and patterns on the ceiling. This means that there will be no restrictions only on tones, and complete creative freedom is provided to create beautiful patterns and optical illusions.
  • Provides a permanent paint for the ceilings in summer cottages and garden houses. Average price 4000 rubles / 10l.

  • This manufacturer produces silicone ceiling paints. These compounds are valued for their ability to cover and mask small irregularities. When dry, they fill and completely hide cracks up to 2 mm wide. This means that before applying them, you do not need to create an ideal base, therefore they are often chosen for summer houses. Silicone paint will not crack or peel off even when frozen.
  • In addition, thanks to the silicone base, the layer obtained upon drying acquires excellent water-repellent properties, which allows it to be actively washed. In addition, such a ceiling is almost not contaminated.
  • And most importantly, for a high-quality result, it is quite enough to apply only 1 layer.
  • Craftsmen prefer it to many others for creating a matte ceiling. At a price of 3000 rubles / 10 liters, it is of high quality. However, when buying, you need to pay attention to the fact that it was produced in the UK. Paints made under this brand at Russian factories are significantly inferior in quality.
  • Although the paints do not hide the flaws in the finish, the light-absorbing properties of Dulux Matte Ceiling Paints are so good that they almost completely level the surface with small cracks.
  • To create a high-quality durable coating, you will need to apply 2 coats. But it is economically consumed and lays down evenly, so the total paint consumption is small.
  • In addition, this is an absolutely environmentally friendly composition that does not have a pungent odor, and has a wide color palette. They can even paint an unprepared surface.

Halo

  • It occupies a leading position among washable ceiling paints. An inexpensive economy class option, the cost for a plastic bucket with a volume of 13 liters is only 900-1000 rubles.

  • It creates a matte finish on all kinds of ceilings. Most often, matte paints in light or pastel shades have high opacity. Oriol products do an excellent job with this, not inferior to more expensive counterparts, besides, it dries almost twice as fast.
  • It is able to cover even the yellowed base of the ceiling or walls in two layers.
  • According to reviews on the Internet, this paint deservedly enjoys such wide popularity. Everyone writes about its economical consumption, low cost, and good performance.

Tikkurila

  • No wonder this is the best water-based ceiling paint. This brand has been a guarantee of high quality for many years. The price of such a paint is 2500-3000 rubles / 9 liters.
  • The products of the Finnish brand are distinguished by their pure color and a wide range of colors (you can buy a ready-made shade or tint when buying in a store in almost any shade). Creates a very strong and durable coating, characterized by high environmental friendliness and resistance to ultraviolet rays. When stained, it does not form drops and streaks, dries quickly.
  • On sale there is both real Finnish paint and made near St. Petersburg. In some cases, the second will differ in quality for the worse.
  • It has proven itself well among silicate-based ceiling paints. Its price is 3400 rubles / 15 liters.
  • At their core, these are facade compounds, but thanks to the excellent result, professional molars recommend it for painting indoor streams. In addition to good application and environmental friendliness, they have antifungal components in their composition.

  • They are easy to use as they are easy to clean. But they are quite demanding on the basis. Best of all, Ceresit silicate paints lay on top of mineral plaster.
  • According to reviews from the forums, they perfectly cover the ceilings covered with old water-based paint without any preliminary preparation.

Snowball

  • This paint is one of the best among the cheapest formulations on the Russian market at a price of 1200 rubles / 10 liters.
  • Excellent combination of price and quality. Perfectly covers a surface of various textures (for example, when the plasterboard ceiling is not completely putty, but only at the seams). Due to its good hiding power, it creates a dense opaque layer.
  • Snow paint is hypoallergenic and safe, but has low water resistance. The advantages include the possibility of tinting, even independently. But a significant drawback is the large actual consumption, which is almost twice that indicated by the manufacturer.

Expert

  • It is perhaps the most inexpensive white ceiling paint that can produce good results. The average price for a washable composition is about 800 rubles / 12kg.

Professional painters are distinguished by its pure white color, without grayness. In addition, they have a number of advantages:

  • do not turn yellow or gray over time, retaining a rich snow-white color;
  • do not crumble, and do not wipe when washed;
  • dry quickly;
  • there is no sharp toxic odor;
  • environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic, suitable for painting the ceiling in children's rooms;
  • fit on any type of ceiling surface (putty, concrete or wallpaper).

Expert paint is not recommended to be tinted, as the result may not be the most successful. Another disadvantage of the composition is an unnecessarily thick consistency. But this is easy to fix by adding water. But only the necessary proportions will have to be selected independently, since the manufacturer did not indicate them.

Tex

  • It is recommended for painting ceilings in rooms with high humidity. The approximate cost is 1500 rubles / 10l. Most often these are water-based paints based on polyvinyl acetate. This inexpensive formulation is virtually odorless.
  • Despite the fact that it performed best in humid rooms, it has a number of disadvantages. For example, it will no longer be possible to tint in any color, but only in the tone from their catalog. And also, low hiding power, which means that many layers will have to be applied to achieve an even, uniform surface.
  • In addition, like all paints with a similar composition, they are not suitable for washing. If you try to wash off the dirt, the paint itself will be washed off.
  • It is a good paint for inexpensive repairs or renewal of old paint that has grayed out.

  • When buying an imported paint and varnish composition, you need to choose only the one that is produced in their homeland, and not at one of the Russian factories.
  • Even inexpensive domestic paints can be counterfeited, so it is worth buying products only in large stores that give guarantees and can show certificates.
  • When choosing a paint according to the characteristics on the label, errors are always taken into account. It is better to make an additional flow margin.

Poor-quality ceiling paints can lay down with stains, show yellowness or other stains through the layers. To make the ceiling pleasing to the eye, you must carefully choose the composition and not try to save money.
