Combo bedspread. Modern bedspreads. Choosing the right option

It is in the bedroom that the need to create a cozy, comfortable and homely environment is felt especially acutely. In the bedroom, we want to have a hard sleep, but to get moral and physical relaxation, to rest and gain strength, to get peace. Of course, when drawing up the interior of a room for sleeping and resting, every detail is important. And the bed is the main, central element of the design of the room and its decoration acts as an important participant in the formation of the image of the entire space. Textile decoration of a bed is one of the most pleasant activities for any housewife. It is when decorating a bedroom with fabrics that you can give free rein to your fantasies, express an owl's attitude to beauty, aesthetics and the concept of comfort. But even such a pleasant activity requires some concentration, because when choosing textiles for a bed, it is important to take into account several nuances.

Bedspread selection criteria

The purchase of a bedspread cannot be called shallow, because the created interior will serve you for several years, and the cost of many modern models of textile bed design is very high. That is why it is important to approach this issue with special care. When choosing a bedspread, you will need to consider the following factors:

  • first of all - the size of the bed (in some cases - the size of the mattress, depending on the design of the bed);
  • bed design - basically, the bedspread is purchased based on the possibility of closing the entire bed frame, along with the legs. But some models of sleeping places need short bedspreads tucked under the frame to showcase beautiful carvings or upholstery of bed elements;
  • the choice of color palette will depend on whether you want the bedspread to match the selected interior gamut or act as an accent spot;
  • also, the choice of the color of the bedspread depends on the location of your bedroom in relation to the cardinal points - it will be necessary to bring warmth to the room located on the north side of the building through color schemes, for the south side you can choose cool shades;
  • the choice of bedspreads will also depend on other textile solutions adopted for the bedroom interior - draping windows, upholstery of additional furniture, such as armchairs, ottomans, poufs and small sofas;
  • the style of execution of textiles for the bed will depend on the style of decoration of the entire room (it is obvious that a bedspread with ruffles will look ridiculous in a minimalist bedroom, and in a girl's room with a romantic interior, you should not cover the bed with a monochromatic gloomy fabric);
  • even if there are no allergy sufferers in your family, the bedspread must be chosen for reasons of comfort and safety - natural fabrics that are not able to collect static electricity;
  • if you have pets and small children in your home who can jump on the bed with a pack of cherry juice, it is better to give preference to inexpensive, practical textile options that can be washed not by hand or dry cleaning, but with the help of a washing machine;
  • the choice of purchasing bedspreads in a store or tailoring to order will depend on the bed model and your personal preferences (many companies sew bedspreads even on round beds, but choosing the right size can still be difficult - if you have a non-standard bed, then sewing decorations for it will be the best solution to the issue);
  • if you want to achieve the perfect combination of textiles in bed decoration, window drapery or upholstery, then custom tailoring is your solution for decorating your bedroom.

Bedspread style - design features

Some 15-20 years ago, our compatriots tried to choose a bedspread to match the color of the curtains. This is not to say that this unspoken rule has sunk into oblivion irrevocably, but it is no longer applied so strictly. It is not necessary to order the sewing of the bedspread from the same fabric that decorates the window openings, but it is advisable to select textiles in such a way that the drapery is mutually compatible. For example, if the windows are draped with thick curtains, then against their background, a thin lace bedspread will look out of place.

When drawing up a classic interior, it is still appropriate to use one textile for decorating windows and a berth. Most often, dense, tapestry or velor fabrics are chosen for such a design. Textiles can be either plain or with a print - it all depends on the rest of the color and textile solutions adopted in the interior.

The choice of bedspreads is influenced by the dimension of the bed. Bedspreads made of dense fabrics that perfectly keep their shape look luxurious on double, large structures. For a single bed, you can choose a lighter option - airy fabrics, flounces and folds will look appropriate, for example, in the bedroom of a teenage girl.

An original way to quickly change the image of a sleeping room is to use a double-sided bedspread. If the bedroom is finished in a light tone, then using a bright bedspread will be an especially effective way to create an accent. Just flip the cover over the side you want and change the character of the interior.

Bedspread-cover

There are many bed models for which the complementary decoration will not be a floor-length bedspread, but a textile product made in the form of a cover. For a bed of standard sizes, it will not be difficult to find such a blanket on sale - the choice is made according to the size of the mattress (plus 5-10 cm for placing bed linen and blankets).

The bedspread, made in the form of a cover, looks quite strict and is great for a bedroom decorated in a modern style. The atmosphere of "cozy minimalism" will harmoniously fit into both monochromatic and printed execution of the cover-cover.

This bedspread model is perfect for solid wood beds, decorated with carvings, all kinds of decor. Also, the cover-cover will be the optimal choice of textiles for a bed with a canopy structure. Such a bedspread with soft upholstery, which has strongly protruding frame elements in the lower part, will organically fit into the overall picture of the bedroom.

I would not want to hide a single centimeter of the original wicker rattan bed under the bedspread. It is for such cases that a textile product in the form of a bed cover will become an effective addition to a bed. The textured bedspread shown in the photo fits perfectly into the tropical style of the bedroom interior.

Bedspreads with valance

For tall beds or models with a thick mattress, choosing a blanket with a valance can be a great way to drape. It can be strict or lush, airy or dense, quilted, textured, decorated with ruffles or frills - it all depends on your personal preferences and the choice of the general style of the bedroom interior.

A bedspread with a valance always brings some solemnity to the interior. A touch of romanticism and at the same time a festive mood will be provided to your bedroom when using a light (snow-white) bedspread with a valance of a similar tone.

Knitted and woven products

For an interior made in Provence style, shabby chic or vintage, a knitted bedspread will become an organic addition to the drapery of the bed. Snow-white lace patterns, fringe and embroidery are elements that can bring a difficult beauty to the image of a room, but make its atmosphere more homely, cozy and comfortable.

Knitted lace looks great on dark or bright backgrounds. If you want all the decorative details of your hand-made bedspread (which, for sure, will cost a lot if you order it individually) were clearly visible, then either use plain bedding in a colorful tone, or use a lining in the bedding itself

Ruches, flounces and assemblies for the original decoration of the bed

A bedspread with ruffles and gathers visually increases the size of the bed. This effect must be taken into account when planning the interior. If your bedroom is a modest room with a large bed, then a bedspread with an abundance of ruffles can make the main piece of furniture simply immense, filling the entire space. In a medium to large room, such a bed decoration will look appropriate, bringing a touch of romanticism to the interior.

This bedspread with ruffles and ruffles is ideal for complementing the textile decoration of a girl's room. Complement the romantic style of draping the bed with several decorative pillows and the bedroom decor will become incredibly cute, cozy and girly gentle.

A snow-white bedspread is a universal option for those who do not want to rack their brains over color combinations, combinatorial prints and ornaments. White color is always refreshing, gives lightness to especially large-scale structures - king size beds. And at the same time, a white bedspread is a boring option. But if you decorate a textile product with folds, drapery, original clips and hooks, then even a fabric without a pattern will sparkle with new facets.

Quilted patchwork products - a highlight of the interior

Quilted bedspreads, especially those with patchwork prints, are especially effective in vintage styles, romantic interiors and eclectic bedrooms. From such products and breathes with the warmth of human hands, comfort, coziness and originality.

Color solutions for bedroom textiles

The choice of the color palette of the bed textiles is an important moment in the formation of the image of the room. One of the color options for the bedspread is matching the interior color scheme. For example, a bedroom on the north side of a building will benefit from a warm, beige palette that can bring comfort to the room. It would be logical to use one of the shades (darker, bright, or vice versa - light than the main background of the decoration) of the main interior color for the execution of bed textiles.

If your bedroom is a neutral room with a predominantly light finish and a similar choice of furnishings, then the bedspread can become the color accent that is so necessary when drawing up a harmonious interior. In addition, with such a combinatorial approach, it will not be difficult to create a new image of the room - just replace the bedspread.

The color of the bedspread can be combined with the color of the wallpaper on the walls. For example, when decorating a room using wallpaper with a print, you can choose the color of the picture as the main background for the bed textiles. As a result, the interior will be harmonious, balanced, but at the same time it will not seem variegated, lurid.

Another way to combine textiles in bed decoration is to combine bedspread fabric and headboard upholstery. You can use one and the same fabric or combine the main background and color of the pattern or ornament. But such a composition will need to be "diluted" with decorative pillows. If the fabric of the headboard and bedspread is printed, then for the pillows it is better to choose a solid color option and vice versa.

For everyone who would like to use a print in the execution of a bedspread, but do not want to use bright colors and colorful ornaments, the purchase of black and white textiles can be a way out. A bedspread with a black and white pattern can organically fit not only into the modern style of bedroom decoration - depending on the theme of the ornament (geometric pattern, floral, animalistic or abstraction), original compositions can be made together with decorative pillows.

The color of the bedspread can be used to highlight the chosen style of decoration of the room. For example, in a children's room decorated on the theme of comic book characters, you can use textiles with drawings from cartoons, images of heroes. In a bedroom made in a nautical style, it would be logical to use striped fabric for the bed cover or textiles with a print on the theme - the image of anchors, sailing ships, marine life.

One of the options for choosing a color for the bedspread is combinatorialism with the rest of the decoration of the bed - decorative pillows, bolsters, "dummies". Many bedspreads are sold with one or two throw pillowcases made from similar fabrics. You can diversify such a set with fabrics matched to the tone, but with a different pattern, or you can use one of the colors of the bedspread ornament to make pillow covers.

You can combine the colors of the bedspread not only with pillows, but also with the so-called decorative path. As a rule, when choosing a track, an unspoken rule is used - if the bedspread is colorful and bright, then it is better to choose a neutral, monochromatic decorative accessory. And vice versa - with the help of a decorative track, you can add brightness to the textile design of the bed. A decorative track can also act as a textured accent - be fur, decorated with ruffles, sequins, embroidery.

The bedspread, made from the fabric used for upholstery of additional furniture in the bedroom interior, will be organically integrated into the image of the room. Dense plain fabric or textiles with non-variegated patterns will adorn the bedroom design.

Bedspreads with ethnic patterns are perfect for creating a color accent using the bed textiles. An original, bright ornament can not easily act as an accent spot, but give the interior a completely unique charm and original character. Such decoration of the bed will organically fit into a room with a monochromatic finish, a neutral color scheme of the room.

The bedspread for the bed located in the children's bedroom can be chosen not just in color, but very bright. Provided that the decoration of the room is made in light, neutral colors, the colorful design of the bed will look accentuated and advantageous. It is much more important for children than for adults to be able to focus their eyes on bright details, to get a boost of vivacity from colorful spots of color.

Bedspread dimensions

When purchasing this piece of furniture, you should follow some rules:

  • The material should fit perfectly on the bed. Therefore, the edges of it should cover the structure of the bed, the bedding should not look.
  • The size of the bedspread should be slightly larger than the size of the bed, that is, the sum of the two heights.

Design of bedspreads for the bedroom

A beautiful bedspread for the bedroom will be a great addition to your bedroom design. With its help, you can fantasize, supplement with various accessories:

  • brushes;
  • contrasting fabric;
  • fringe;
  • lacing.

The bedroom design will become individual and unique in the interior.

The bedspread can create an atmosphere of coziness and comfort. For example, in a romantic style, it is complemented with ruffles and frills. To add richness and luxury to the room, choose material from satin or fur.

For a rustic look, use a quilted fabric. And the modern style offers many options. To understand them, see the photo of bedspreads for the bedroom, it is easier to make a choice.

The bedspread must necessarily be in harmony with the general stylistic solution of the room, otherwise there will be no harmony in the environment.

Provence

To start choosing a bedspread in this style. It is necessary to understand the basic principles of this style. Romance is inherent in this style. You need to use gentle, light colors.

However, floral prints can be used in this style. They can be both on the curtains and on the bedspread. Bedspreads with curtains for the bedroom should be combined.

Classic bedroom

It implies wealth and luxury, so there should be an elite bedspread for the bedroom with bows, monograms, gilding.

For example, a bedspread in a strict cut and with painted monograms will show how refined the taste of the owners is.

You can also use silk material to create a beautiful bedspread for your bedroom.

Country style

Such a design should not contain bright and shiny elements. The material should be selected so that its surface is soft and matte.

To emphasize the brightness of the country style, a patchwork bedspread is perfect. Knitted jersey is very suitable.

Hi-tech style

Practicality and conciseness are inherent in this style, so here the feeling should be created that the owner left the bed a couple of minutes ago and is about to return.

There must be negligence. The main feature is clear geometric lines in the design of the bedroom.

Bedspreads and curtains

A set of bedspreads for the bedroom is a smart decision. Since their general stylistic appearance and the fabric from which they are made must be identical. This option is suitable for those who cannot combine two items.

What to do if you really like the bedspread, but in color and design does not fit into the given style. Don't despair, there is a solution. Purchase a small amount of the same fabric and use that to make a new lampshade or pillows.

The bedspread is not just an accessory, but an element that creates a contrast in the interior. Having bought textiles, look at the label, what it is made of, how to properly care for it.

Then beautiful bedspreads for the bedroom will last for many years.

To update the interior of the bedroom, you can sew a bedspread; the ideas are so numerous that choosing the right one is easy. With the help of textiles, a color accent is created or a large piece of furniture harmoniously fits into the overall design. The decision on the design of the bedroom should take into account only a competent combination of the general style and individual furnishings. After all, a chic brocade or satin bedspread will look ridiculous in a small room with inexpensive furnishings.

To update your bedroom interior, you can sew a bedspread

The main item in a bedroom of any style is the bed. It is she who is the center of the composition when choosing the design of the room. In small bedrooms of city apartments, the bed occupies a significant area of \u200b\u200bthe room and is dominant.

Based on these considerations, the choice of colors for the bedspread is dictated by the need to make the bed less or more noticeable. In large bedrooms, it makes sense to emphasize its importance, highlighting it as a bright spot in the interior. For this, a blanket made of a contrasting or light-reflecting smooth satin-type fabric can serve. To tie the selected object to the range of the environment and to harmonize the design help the matching pillows, walkway or cape, bed valance.

If the room is small, then a spacious, especially a double bed, you want to visually reduce the bed, thereby expanding the space of the bedroom. In this case, it makes sense to choose the bedspread itself so that it matches the color scheme of the interior. Small details can be made of contrasting fabrics, create the effect of small areas of color and distract attention from a large piece of furniture. Bright pillows or a runner, a cape on the head of the bed, an insert of contrasting fabric on a plain bedspread, or a strip with applique - these are the techniques that can be used when decorating a small bedroom.

With the help of textiles, you can create a color accent or harmoniously fit a large piece of furniture into the overall design

How to choose the right bedspread model?

The choice of the model or style of the bedspread should be dictated by the personal taste of the hostess herself. But you should not try to fit into the interior a thing that does not fit the general style of the room. Lush satin products with frills and frills are unlikely to look harmonious in a modern, cool high-tech interior or in a minimalist bedroom.

A bed cover should be appropriate for each particular bedroom. Provence or other rustic furnishings are decorated with patchwork, but for a Victorian bedroom, such an element may not work. Fashionable solutions in the design of the bed must be combined in style with the design of the bedroom.

How to sew a bedspread yourself?

Sewing bedspreads with your own hands is not the most difficult thing. The design project you see can be realized if you try a little. The basis of a beautiful bedspread is a properly selected pattern.

In the simplest case, it is a rectangle, to calculate the length and width of which you need to perform the following measurements:

  • bed length (from headboard to footboard) and a 3.5 cm allowance for free fitting of corners;
  • width and allowance of 3 cm;
  • bed height - from the surface of the mattress to the floor or the desired height of the overhang of the edge of the bedspread.

The choice of the model or style of the bedspread should be dictated by the personal taste of the hostess herself.

The height measure must be multiplied by 2 and added to the width with an allowance. Additionally, you need to take into account the allowance for hemming the edge (about 7 cm). If the bed has 2 backs, then you will not have to add anything to the length value, but if there is a free edge at the foot, you will need to make an overhang here too. In this case, the height of the bed and the allowance for hemming the edge (3.5 cm) are added to the length of the bed. If the bed does not also have a headboard, then the height value, multiplied by 2, will have to be added to the length, doubling the hem allowance.

Ruffle bedspread

To make a pattern for a ruffled bedspread, use the same measurements for the bed's height, length, and width. But the rectangle, which will lie on top of the bed, should be built separately, guided by the values \u200b\u200bfor the length and width, taking into account the allowance of another 2 cm for the seams when joining the cloth with the frill.

Cut the strips for the sides as indicated in the diagram: their width is equal to the desired length of the frill or the height of the bed, and the length should be 1.5-2 times longer than the length of the side of the panel where it will be sewn. The splendor of the folds on the side overhangs depends precisely on the length of the strip (Fig. 1). If you want the bedspread to drape beautifully at the corners, then you need to add inserts (the corner part of the frill is in the diagram).

Complex bedspread

The two-tiered design of ruffled bedspread is not at all as complicated as it might seem. The cloth of the upper layer must be cut out according to the scheme (Fig. 2). The edge is modeled individually, it can be made both straight and curly. If desired, the cloth is made with a lining and filler from a thin layer of padding polyester. In this version, it will be additionally decorated with a curly stitch. Cut all 3 details in one pattern.

The side overhangs of the lower tier are the usual ruffles in dark fabric. The pattern for them is given in the previous section. Sew stripes of frills to the wrong side of the panel during the manufacture of the product.

How to make a runner or cape?

A path is called a narrow strip of a contrasting color. It is placed along or across the bed; a diagonal arrangement is also possible. The path to the bed is cut out in the form of a rectangle of the desired width and length (Fig. 3). The dimensions of the product are freely chosen.

The cape is usually made for the headboard (fig. 4). The raised element can be rigid without upholstery. In this case, the cape not only serves as a design element, but also serves as a soft pad between the sleeping person's head and the bed frame.

If the headboard has soft upholstery, but its color does not suit the designer, the cape helps to hide this flaw. In this case, it is purely aesthetic in nature. A small removable part can also act as a headboard protection from dust and dirt.

You can cut out a cape for the headboard by measuring its length and width. Draw a rectangle so that the cape completely covers the front side of the headboard and can be bent over to the part facing the wall.

We embody the idea - we design the bedspread

For sewing bedspreads of any model, you need to prepare the following:

  • the cloth;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine;
  • measuring instruments, chalk or pencil.

Based on a simple rectangle, you can make amazingly beautiful bedspreads for a bedroom of any style. The only difference will be in the decor. One of the simplest finishing options is ruffles.

The photo on the left (Fig. 5) shows 2 color solutions of one style. In the first case, it turned out a bedspread with a bright spot of rainbow in the foreground and complementary appliqué on the cloth and pillows (above). Such a design is suitable for rustic styles, nursery decoration, it will be appropriate in a small bedroom, if you choose a cloth to match the decor and curtains.

The same bedspread, made in white (below), will perfectly fit into the interiors of a Victorian bedroom, in a shabby chic style, it will look great in a Mediterranean or colonial setting. A spacious bedroom, where there is no need to hide the size of the bed, will only benefit from the snow-white structure in the center of the composition.

By placing the ruffles differently, you can get a product of a different style, as in the photo on the right. For all its simplicity and lack of pretentious details, a modest gray, beige or other monochromatic bedspread is suitable for a teenager's room and for a strict Victorian setting. If you wish, you can also change this design by making the sewn ruffles multi-colored or by making them from dark and light stripes.

DIY French folds (video)

How to make a ruffle bedspread?

Cut out a rectangle for the base and work its edges into a hem. Prepare material for frills: cut multi-colored or plain fabric rags into strips. If the strips are short, they must be sewn together until the tape reaches the desired length.

Seam the edges of the tape with a “zigzag” seam or overcast on the overlog. Set the maximum stitch length, sew a straight stitch along the tape, along the centerline or closer to one edge. Pulling out one of the threads, collect the ribbon.

Mark the places where the ruffles will be sewn. If the option with finishing one corner is chosen, then you will need to draw arcs on the panel, starting with the smallest one. The distance between the lines should be equal to or slightly less than the width of the ruffle ribbon. Lay the gathered strip so that the line in the center runs along the marked line, pin and sew on a typewriter.

For the variant with stripes of folds, the lines can be marked across, along, diagonally of the panel. In the future, proceed in the same way as in the first case. The distance between the marking lines must be chosen so that the free edge of the strip covers the sewing site of the previous tier.

How to sew a perimeter ruffle bedspread?

Prepare the central part: cut out a rectangle to fit the bed or a curly piece for a bunk model. If necessary, mark decorative stitch lines and machine quilt rectangle.

Cut stripes to create ruffles, hem or overlock edges. The stripes can be compound, as in the previous case. Depending on your personal desire, fold or gather along the upper edge of the frill strip.

Cut out the corner pieces, fold them over and, if necessary, trim them with ruffles, as indicated above. The corners of the bedspread on a double bed will look like in fig. 6. Connect the ruffle stripes and corner pieces. Fold the rectangular fabric and the upper edge of the tape right sides together, baste and sew. The sewing area of \u200b\u200bthe frill can be additionally trimmed with decorative braid.

If a complex two-layer option is planned, then the frill must be sewn from the inside out along the perimeter of the central part, leaving the overhangs free. The edges of the top layer can be tied with bows, left free or attached to the bottom layer with decorative buttons. You can make a frill in the form of a valance, that is, do not sew it to the top layer, but fasten it to the bed frame using Velcro or Velcro strips (Fig. 7).

Beautiful cape at the head

You can complement a stylish bedspread with capes. For the one shown in Fig. 8.A delicate floral detail required a dense fabric for the base and a thin sheer fabric for decoration.

Cut out a rectangle equal to the width of the bed. The height of the headboard in this case is multiplied by 1.5 to be able to bend and secure the cape. You will need 2 of these parts - for the front part and the lining. You will need to cut 4 strips for ties, of any length and width. Stitch around the perimeter of the base part, while sewing in the ties: 2 in the corners on the back of the cape, 2 in the middle of the front (1/3 of the total width of the rectangle).

For finishing, mark on the basis of the location of the stripes with flowers. Cut ribbons from organza, equal in width to the distance between the decor. Collect both edges of each strip and sew on the base, aligning the cuts with the marked lines.

Prepare braid or sew a narrow strip of organza. Roses for decoration are made of a strip of the same fabric with an uneven edge, rolled up. Sew each flower by hand to the prepared braid. Sew the finished part along the edges so that it hides the place of attachment of the assembled organza strips.

A beautiful designer piece can appear in a bedroom interior if you spend a little time making it. The key to success will be accuracy and precision in all the operations of cutting, assembling and finishing the bedspread.

Attention, only TODAY!

The bedspread is an integral part of the interior of any bedroom. This element of textile decor performs an aesthetic function - it gives the impression of coziness, warmth, visually complements the design.

This stylish bedspread will be the perfect finishing touch to your bedroom interior.

Also, the bedspread does an excellent job with a practical task - it protects the bed from dust, debris, closes the bed from prying eyes, and is an additional protection from the cold. That is why the bedspread for the bedroom is an indispensable attribute of a modern interior.

It is best to choose the bedspread in the same tone as the curtains!

Various colors, wide range of models are misleading when choosing. What option do you prefer, so that the bed cover fulfills all the functions assigned to it?

The bedspread should be matched to the size of the bed, so that it looks as beautiful and natural as possible.

First of all, care must be taken to ensure that the bedspread flawlessly blends into the interior, complements the design ideas, matches the style solution, favorably emphasizes the bed, and matches the surrounding color tone.

Pillowcases can be made in the same design with a bedspread, it will look very impressive.

Each textile manufacturer tries to make its bedspread something special, add unusual decor, update the model, come up with something new. When choosing textiles, consumers often pay attention to novelties. After all, everyone strives to possess a unique, modern thing.

The bedspread is one of the most important design elements in the bedroom.

Of no small importance when choosing a bedspread for a bed is the size of the bedroom, its location. For a compact room, a light color is more suitable, in this case it is better not to make bright accents in the interior.

A quality quilted bedspread is a stylish solution for those who want to make a competent accent on their sleeping place.

It is also preferable to choose a bedspread and curtains that match with each other. Complex textile decor will also be inappropriate. A spacious bedroom lets your imagination run wild. Any options for bedspreads are applicable here. The location on the north side dictates the choice of warm colors. The southern location of the bedroom allows the use of rich, cold colors.

A bedspread in cold shades will always look more modest.

Choosing the right option

For a modern person, a bedspread with a double-sided use concept would be an excellent choice.

A double-sided bedspread is an ideal solution for those who often like to invent something new and unusual in their room interior.

Such models are universal: each side looks different, it will be possible to change the appearance of the room according to the mood. Revolutions different in color, pattern, texture will create a unique aura of the bedroom.

A large pattern on the bedspread always makes it more voluminous and attractive.

A fashionable trend is able to make a bedspread with a largeprint, depicting abstraction, graphic silhouette. This option will perfectly fit into a modern interior; it will be alien to classical styles.

The bedspread should cover each side of the bed all the way to the floor!

Quilted bedspreads are incredibly relevant. They are able to hide minor bed imperfections. They create an atmosphere of harmony and comfort. This bedspread will perfectly fit into any interior. If you choose curtains, pillows to match, or better made of identical fabrics, you get a great ensemble for the bedroom.

The quilted bedspread is luxury and style in one bottle!

An interesting idea in recent years has become a bedspread made of fur or its imitation. A wonderful fluffy look, large hairiness creates a particularly cozy interior of the room. In inclement weather, it is pleasant to wrap yourself in such a veil and indulge in blissful slumber.

A silk bedspread will always give you a pleasant sensation from the touch.

Chic silk, satin as a material of execution never goes out of fashion. Such a bedspread will add respectability to the interior. Turns the bed into an object of admiration.

Silk bedspreads are among the most expensive in comparison to other types of materials.

Size matters

Bedspreads are available in standard sizes for various bed options: one and a half, double, double euro version.

The correct size of the bedspread should hide your bedding 100%

However, it is better to first measure your stock and calculate the required size. Measurements will also be needed if custom tailoring of bedspreads for the bedroom is ordered.

Warm shades such as yellow, orange, red will make the atmosphere of your bedroom more good-natured and welcoming.

First you need to measure the bed itself, then add 20 cm to the resulting numbers.For example, on a double bed you need a bedspread 2.20 × 2.40 to cover the surface.

A bright room can be easily complemented by a rather dark bedspread.

When it is necessary to hide the base, the height is added to the resulting dimensions. For example, for a double bed with a height of 40 cm, you should choose a bedspread 2.60 × 2.40

Volumetric bedspreads have gained immense popularity recently.

Bedspread as an element of the interior

Depending on the personal preferences of the owners, the bedroom is decorated in various styles. The bedspread should harmoniously fit into the interior of the room.

Pillowcases, bedspreads and curtains can be made from the same material, and even with the same print.

To do this, the choice should be made, guided by design ideas, simple principles:

If necessary, the bedspread can be decorated with various types of accessories, for example, flowers.

  • The classics accept exclusively textile sets: curtains, bedspread, canopy, decorative pillows must match each other. Sewing is carried out from an equivalent material. Usually these are plain fabrics with a slight texture. Minor finishing is acceptable.

A variant of the classic type of bedspread

  • Baroque, art deco and other pompous styles dictate their terms. Here, the bedroom bedspread complements the luxurious interior. Only rich fabrics, heavy textures, an abundance of gold embroidery and decor are acceptable. Let's say a saturated color, fabrics with shine.

The main thing in a bed is comfort. But the appearance is also of great importance, because it is the bed that sets the tone for the bedroom, forms its image. Size, height and even material do not play a leading role. The look of the bed depends, first of all, on the design of the headboard and the decoration of the bed.

With the help of textiles and decor, you can make even the most modest bed luxurious. This transformation will transform the entire interior as a whole.

Most often, the bed is covered with a light elegant blanket or rug. The bedspread has several functions. First, it decorates the bed. Secondly, it makes it look cleaner. Thirdly, it protects the bed from dirt. In addition, the bedspread can play a fourth role - to connect the bed with other components of the interior, making it complete.

In order for the cover to cope with its functions successfully, it is necessary to choose it correctly. In this article, we will not talk about materials, sizes and designs, but will pay attention to color. What should you choose a bedspread for? What should it rhyme with?

What is the bedspread for?

Of course, there are no rules on this score. There are no strict canons prescribing to select the bedspread strictly for one or another element of the interior. For a long time, it was believed that the decoration of the bed must necessarily rhyme with the decoration of the window. But this, firstly, is the wrong approach (no one owes anything to anyone in the interior). Secondly, today such a combination is used quite rarely.

There are several common schemes. You can choose any of them - the one that you like, or the one that suits a particular interior more than others. So what are these schemes?

1. The color of the walls

Usually, the cape on the bed follows the color of the wall at the headboard. However, the blanket can also support other walls in the room.

If the bedspread is matched to the color of the wall behind the bed, it is desirable that the back-headboard contrasts with them.

If multi-colored wallpaper was used in the decoration, you can choose a bedspread in one of the colors present on the walls. This is called "pulling color" out of a pattern, drawing, ornament. This solution is subtle and elegant.

2. In the color of the bed / headboard

The textiles can support the color of the frame and headboard. This will turn it into a single color spot without additional nuances.

It must be borne in mind that a bed with such a scheme will seem somewhat wider and bulky than it really is. If the bedroom is small and the bed is large, it may be worth choosing a bedspread of a different color.

3. In the color of the curtains

We have already mentioned that combinations of this kind are not very popular today. Monochrome and uniform textiles can make a room look formal and boring. Such bedrooms often resemble a hotel room, which deprives them of a significant amount of comfort. In home interiors, designers try to create variety by mixing colors, shades, textures and patterns.

Of course, this does not mean at all that it is impossible to select a bedspread under the curtains (or curtains under the bedspread). Of course you can. In interior design, there is no "no". Everything is possible, but with caution.

This scheme has not only disadvantages, but also advantages. 1. If the window is far from the bed, a single color of textiles unites different parts of the room, not allowing it to visually shatter. 2. Matching curtains and bedspreads lend a more traditional look. Therefore, this color plan can be recommended for interiors in rural, vintage,.

When choosing a bedspread to match the color of the curtains, do not try to exactly repeat the shade, texture, pattern. In general, it is not very desirable that the curtains and the bedspread are sewn from the same fabric - it looks too vintage. And sometimes it’s ridiculous: it’s as if the bed was covered with a curtain or the windows were covered with a blanket.

Textile elements from different but similar fabrics create a much more interesting and elegant ensemble. Materials can be of the same color, but with different shades, surfaces, patterns, etc.

Another possibility to tie a window and a bed is to lay a bedspread or hang curtains with a colored edging (or with a colored insert). For example, the base of the bedspread is neutral, and the edging is colored to match the curtains.

4. For other colored items of decor and decoration

The bedspread can rhyme in color with, a lamp, a rug, a pouf, an armchair, etc. Moreover, the color can be either neutral or accent (in this case, the bedspread becomes the dominant accent, since it occupies a large area).

5. No matter what

Yes, and so it is also possible. There are two ways here.

  • Buy a universal blanket in a neutral color (white, cream, beige). This bed design will suit almost any interior, regardless of its style and palette.

  • Decorate the bed with a bright bedspread, turning the bed into a color dominant. This technique is used when arranging discreet, colorless interiors. If the accent element is large enough, it does not need a "support group" - there is no need to complement the bedspread with decorative details of the same color.
