Roofing from liquid rubber work. Roof waterproofing with liquid rubber: a complete analysis of the technology of work. Liquid rubber classifications

The company "Technoprok" offers to carry out with the help of liquid waterproofing TECHNOPROC for the production of seamless roofing. TECHNOPROK bitumen-polymer material is universal, suitable for the production of new roofing over concrete screed directly at the facility under construction, for repairing roof waterproofing over the old coating with rolled bituminous materials, for sealing joints and junctions.

Production of roofing waterproofing coating

The production technology of soft flat roofing from TECHNOPROK is 100% seamless horizontal waterproofing, at the same time vapor barrier and soundproofing of the roof, which allows you to avoid additional costs in the production of roofing and waterproofing works.

Professional installation of soft roofing by spraying allows not only roofing work of any scale in a short time at a temperature of + 5ºС, but also quick repair of the roof, including the performance of waterproofing adjoining works and the production of a new roofing over and without removing the old one.

In Technoprok you can buy waterproofing equipment necessary for applying liquid rubber, the most convenient for roofing work directly on the soft roof of an object under construction or for performing waterproofing repairs.

Liquid rubber for waterproofing roofing

Liquid rubber TECHNOPROC is a non-toxic, fireproof, environmentally friendly material that significantly reduces the time and financial costs of roofing and waterproofing work. The bitumen-polymer coating is absolutely waterproof, highly resistant to chemical and atmospheric influences, to sudden changes in temperature.

However, many people prefer the installation of a soft roof according to the old technology from built-up materials and roll waterproofing of the floor for “green roofs”. If your choice fell on rolled roofing and built-up waterproofing materials, be sure to follow how, with what quality, the seams of the roll are welded.

Modern technology for the production of seamless soft roofing is based solely on the use of high-quality liquid waterproofing materials and the professional performance of waterproofing roofing.

Always available in a warehouse in Moscow unique roofing material polymer acrylic mastic MASTER RUF produced by "PAZKAR" (Israel). Two-layer waterproofing roofing mastic - white acrylic material, heat-resistant and frost-resistant in the Russian climate, resistant to UV. A thick paste, ready to use, applied by airless spray with high pressure machines or simply with a rubber squeegee, ensures reliable, high-quality production of the top layer of soft roofing roofing professionally and with a guarantee.

Liquid rubber is popularly called a popular material used for, based on petroleum bitumen. Professionals know how versatile this is, but inexperienced craftsmen often underestimate self-leveling waterproofing. Liquid rubber can be used to build a flat roof, repair old ruberoid coatings with your own hands and protect the roof and foundation from moisture. In this article, we will dwell on its composition, properties and methods of use.

Liquid rubber is a popular do-it-yourself roof waterproofing material made from bitumen emulsion. It is a thick, viscous, fluid liquid that solidifies on the roof surface at a temperature of +5 degrees. After hardening, liquid rubber forms a durable, monolithic layer that does not allow moisture to pass through. In addition to the bitumen emulsion, this waterproofing material includes:

  • polymer additives. They improve the properties of liquid rubber, making it more resistant to temperature changes and mechanical damage.
  • plasticizers. The task of plasticizers is to make the consistency of the bitumen emulsion more fluid and elastic, as well as to increase the adhesion of the composition.
  • hardeners. The hardeners are responsible for setting this do-it-yourself roof waterproofing agent after application.

Important! The composition of this waterproofing agent does not resemble real rubber in any way, it is so called because it retains elasticity and ductility even after hardening. In production, this waterproofing material is poured into metal barrels of 200 liters or into smaller containers.

Properties

Liquid rubber is a versatile roof waterproofing agent with a wide range of applications. It is characterized by high water resistance, elasticity and ease of application by hand. The advantages of this material are:

  1. Solidity. After the composition has hardened, a monolithic waterproofing layer is formed on the roof surface, which does not allow moisture to pass through, and also does not have joints or seams where leaks can occur.
  2. High adhesion. This waterproofing material is able to penetrate into small cracks and pores in the base of a roof made of wood, concrete or even metal without additional priming.
  3. Weather resistance. The temperature range in which liquid rubber can “work” is from -75 to +95 degrees, which is quite enough for trouble-free operation throughout Russia.
  4. Ease of application. This waterproofing material can be used for vertical and horizontal surfaces. The composition can be applied with a brush, roller or spray gun.

Please note that the disadvantages of this waterproofing agent are considered to be a rather high price and low resistance to ultraviolet radiation. In order to protect the roof covered with liquid rubber from direct sunlight, it is recommended to treat it with water-based or silicone-based paint.

Possibilities of use

As already mentioned, liquid rubber can be used in a wide range of construction operations. It differs fundamentally from other waterproofing agents in its consistency, which allows it to be applied to vertical and horizontal surfaces, as well as to cover up narrow cracks and joints. It can be used for the following purposes:

  • For flat roof waterproofing. The waterproofing material is evenly spread over the roof surface until a uniform layer of the required thickness is obtained. This technology is called self-leveling roofing.
  • For priming the roof base before laying rolled and piece roofing materials.
  • To protect the foundation and other structural elements of the house from moisture. Bitumen gives the composition bactericidal properties, so liquid rubber retains materials well, protecting them from corrosion and decay.
  • To repair a soft roof with your own hands. With the help of liquid waterproofing, you can repair cracks, tears, holes, or glue a patch on the surface of an old roofing felt.

Experienced craftsmen believe that the high price of the material pays off with the excellent performance of liquid waterproofing. It has been experimentally proven that a two-millimeter layer of liquid rubber is equivalent in efficiency to an eight-millimeter layer of rolled waterproofing materials.

Technology of use

Since the price of liquid rubber is quite high, it is necessary to carefully prepare the surface of the roof in order for it to work effectively. The service life and waterproofing qualities of the material depend on the quality of the preparatory work. Surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned of dirt, dust, and then dried, primed with mastic and laid a reinforcing layer of geotextile. After such preparation, you can apply liquid rubber with your own hands using one of the following methods:

Please note that in order to effectively protect the surface from moisture, do-it-yourself liquid rubber treatment is performed not once, but immediately 2-3 times. Re-application begins after the previous layer has set, which takes 5-9 hours.

Polymer liquid waterproofing Blockade

Reliable and environmentally friendly polyurethane joint mastic
Our company offers a wide range of polyurethane sealing mastic for indoor and outdoor waterproofing

The reliability of many buildings largely depends on how well they are protected from moisture. First of all, this applies to objects that are constantly exposed to water: toilets, bathrooms, foundations, balconies, pools. One of the most reliable means of waterproofing is polyurethane mastic for seams.

One-component polyurethane mastic - composition and properties

One of the most effective methods to save yourself from unnecessary water is liquid waterproofing. It is successfully used to cover open surfaces with a protective layer and to prevent the appearance of moisture in hard-to-reach places. The sealing polyurethane mastic creates a uniform, devoid of seams and therefore a reliable coating. The mastic is a liquid material based on polyurethane resins, which, under the influence of air, tend to polymerize and form a resistant, highly elastic waterproofing layer.

"Blockade" - polyurethane mastic, reviews of which users indicate excellent adhesion to any surface. One-component polyurethane mastic has the following advantages:

° It is an environmentally friendly product and after polymerization does not emit substances harmful to humans;
° The material is highly resistant to aggressive chemicals, ozone, ultraviolet radiation, microorganisms or gasoline;
° Mastic is not afraid of low and high temperatures, is resistant to abrasion and retains its properties even with a sharp change in external conditions;
° The material is vapor-tight and does not allow vapor to accumulate between the base and the coating;
° Mastic has high elasticity, which prevents cracks from appearing in any weather conditions.
°
° How is polyurethane joint sealant used?
°
° Polymer liquid waterproofing Blockade has a wide range of applications from complex reinforced concrete structures to tanks and pools. Polyurethane roofing mastics have proven themselves well on flat roofs, balconies or terraces. Polyurethane floor mastic is used as a waterproofing layer for tiles or screed and protective flooring for garages and outbuildings. The material can be safely used in contact with food and drinking water.
° Polyurethane mastic is sold in ready-to-use packages. It is enough just to mix it until a homogeneous mass, and clean the work surface from debris or cement dust. Application can be done by machine spraying or manually by roller. Foam rubber tools cannot be used in the workflow.

During the construction of this cottage, a number of mistakes were made, which led to leaks over the entire area of the exploited roof. Repeated attempts to eliminate the problem with traditional roofing materials have not yielded results. Since the deadlines for the completion of the object were burning by the contractor, it was decided to apply the BLOKADA liquid waterproofing. The application was carried out by our masters using specialized equipment for airless spraying Graco Mark 5. This technique allows you to apply the material at high pressure up to two hundred bar, without the participation of air, without overspray, delivering the material only to the point where it is required at the moment.

Surface preparation before application consisted in cleaning the surface of foliage and dedusting. Metal slopes were removed, since the bulk of the leaks were under them. The existing roofing material was not dismantled, since BLOCKADA, having high fluidity and adhesion, does not require an ideal surface. The first layer is a primer, the primer was prepared from liquid waterproofing on site, according to the instructions.

The second layer was applied on the same day, after about three hours,

after the primer has dried. The calculated thickness was 1 mm.

Since it was the end of autumn and the object was in a pine forest, as a result of high humidity and abundant dew on horizontal surfaces, it was decided to apply the third layer in two days. To ensure one hundred percent evaporation of liquids from the material and complete polymerization. In the warm season, 2 hours is enough for interlayer drying. After applying the second, final layer 1 mm thick on horizontal surfaces, vertical seams and joints of SIP panels were sealed, through which moisture flowed first into the hidden cavities of the ceilings and from there into the interior of the building. The uniqueness of the BLOKADA liquid waterproofing, in my firm opinion, lies in the fact that we are able to deliver the material to almost any gap, including internal, hidden cavities through which water finds a loophole. Also, the colossal advantage of this material is its fluidity! It follows the path of water, filling and sealing absolutely all joints and cracks. Despite the boundary application temperatures, BLOKADA Liquid Roof solved the problem of leaks. Thanks to liquid waterproofing, the contractor managed to complete the interior decoration and hand over the facility on time. Foreman of the waterproofing section Sahakyan Robert Robertovich.

The concept of a liquid roof
It is no secret that the roof is considered the most important element of the structure, regardless of its functional purpose. No building is complete without it. For this reason, the materials used to create this part of the house require the maximum degree of reliability, as well as resistance to precipitation of any kind, whether it be rain, snow or hail.

It is liquid roofing that is considered the best means of protecting the roof of an industrial building, an apartment building or a private house from destructive corrosion from temperature changes and exposure to sunlight. It is considered an innovative building material that has all the characteristics required for a roof.

This article will help you deal with many issues related to liquid roofing. We will consider the varieties of this wonderful material, its technical characteristics, as well as the specifics of installation and subsequent care. The article will consider all the advantages, as well as the disadvantages of the roofing material, which was originally a liquid.

This material is often referred to as liquid rubber. It is classified as a novelty among the materials used to isolate the room from moisture. In other words, liquid roofing is nothing more than a chemical mixture of special polymer additives with an acrylic binder.

The main area of application is roofing roofing. But this building material can also be used in the repair of much larger construction projects, including bridges, tunnels and some sections of roads.

Liquid rubber is able to perfectly protect concrete, wood, brick, screed, floor, old roofing (roof maintenance), new roofing, metal from corrosion. It can also be used during the repair of surfaces originally made of other materials. Numerous examples prove how widespread the use of this wonderful building material is. Liquid roofing, unique in its characteristics, is used in almost all areas of construction. Liquid roof photo

This popularity is explained by the fact that this material has excellent characteristics in its properties. Hardly any other material is able to maintain physical characteristics for at least fifteen years. During the experiments, it was possible to find out that the liquid roof is able to remain unchanged for about fifteen years. And at the same time, it is neither moisture nor sudden changes in temperature conditions and other climatic changes.

Roofing in liquid form is called rubber, largely for the reason that it has qualities similar to rubber, which noticeably distinguish it from other building materials. Meanwhile, liquid roofing is able to independently restore its structure and appearance, which makes it unusually unique in terms of efficiency. Even if there is minor damage, the rubber will take its original shape after some time. Other materials used in the repair of the roof do not allow to achieve such a chic effect.

Advantages and Minor Disadvantages of Liquid Roofing
This coating is considered the most advanced in terms of technological method of reliable surface protection. Preferably, the liquid roofing material is applied to a previously prepared, clean base. But in the meantime, this material can be used both as a single roof covering and as an excellent companion for other materials.

The main property of the material is adhesiveness. The liquid roof perfectly interacts with various working surfaces. The second positive quality of the roof is its resistance to sudden changes in weather conditions. In addition, it is not susceptible to ultraviolet radiation and other aggressive factors that can destroy the roof. Such material will last for a long time, because having a small amount of liquid roofing, you can cover a fairly large working area with it. Liquid roof price

Liquid roofing looks very aesthetically pleasing, because after hardening there are no seams and roughness on it, which could further provoke the destruction of the treated surface. The material is extremely flexible and durable. And we must not forget about the excellent waterproofing performance.

It is easy and convenient to repair the surface, having a blockade liquid roof with you. All that is needed is to cover the damaged area with a new layer. And after it hardens, you will not be able to find where the damage was. When repairing, the material does not require open flame and can be applied to the work surface with a roller, brush, airless spray.

The disadvantages of such a material include a rather high price relative to bituminous materials. But bituminous materials are very sensitive to solvents and liquids, sunlight and temperature changes, other derivatives, which contain oil and its derivatives. The price of the blockade liquid roof is compensated due to the low consumption, relative to bituminous waterproofing.

Based on the foregoing, it can be concluded that Blockade liquid roofing has more advantages than disadvantages. This makes it stand out from other building materials.

The use of roofing based on polymers
This type of building material can be widely used for different types of roofs, regardless of the purpose of the building. The material for the roof looks perfect on an industrial construction site and on a private house. And due to a number of unique properties of such a roof, it can be used not only as protection, but also as a separate material for the roof of a building. So it is not at all surprising that liquid roofing is gaining more and more fans around the world every year.

The subtleties of working with liquid rubber on a flat roof
Often, such a building material is used as a waterproofing material in the construction and repair of industrial buildings, apartment buildings, etc. Their characteristic feature is the presence of a flat roof. The specificity of applying a liquid roof depends on the type and quality of the working surface itself. We will pay special attention to the application of this versatile material on a flat work surface.

If you want the end result to be of high quality and satisfy all needs, rubber should be applied to a clean roof. At the same time, the roof may not be completely even, but at the same time it is necessary to ensure that there are no large irregularities on it and, moreover, unnecessary objects. This will achieve an even distribution of liquid rubber on the same level. Only in this way will liquid rubber look great, and the surface itself will have full waterproofing properties.

The smoothness of the final surface depends on the equipment used in the course of work and application technologies. For example, if you use a high-pressure sprayer and apply liquid roofing to a nearly smooth work surface, the result is a completely flat roof that has no seams and is similar to a protective membrane.

But equipment with low pressure will not give such a result, but can only ruin the roof, wasting consumables. Moreover, the appearance of tubercles of various heights is possible, which will significantly reduce the degree of attractiveness and roofing. Therefore, it is extremely important that even if it is not possible to pre-level the surface, it is best to use a screed before spraying.

The consumption of working material also depends on the type and characteristics of the surface to be treated. So, for example, if liquid rubber is applied to plates, its consumption will be much greater than when processing a flat surface. For this reason, experts advise pre-reinforcing all joints with a primer, which will help get rid of the joints between the plates. It would be even better if you first put sheets of geotextile. The optimal use of a liquid roof is its application to a surface previously treated with a screed. This will help to achieve a great appearance and maintain the original aesthetic and physical properties of the material.

Roof blockade - the ideal solution for all types of roofs
A liquid roof is a new word among many building materials. Its chemical composition is characterized by the presence of polyurethane elastomers. Initially, this type of roof was used only for the needs of the military, helping to cover strategically important objects with material that allows them to be hidden from prying eyes. However, as often happens, military inventions have become available to ordinary citizens who have managed to appreciate all the advantages of this latest material. Buy a liquid roof.

Due to the initially high requirements set by the military, liquid rubber is now a material with unusually high physical qualities, which primarily include reliability and wear resistance. For most of its properties, this material is similar to other types of rubber. However, it has in some cases much higher rates.

Liquid roofing is a godsend for creating the perfect look for any type of roof. Today, this material is used in almost all areas of construction, where a significant degree of protection is required from the materials used. This type of roofing can be used together with other materials, or it can be used as a separate roofing material. Once having tried a liquid roof, you will be able to see for yourself how beautiful it is as a building material, how durable, unique in appearance and reliable.

Advantages of a liquid roof
Probably, there is no country in the world with the same diametrically opposite climatic conditions as ours. The climate is mild in the European zone and harsh in the regions of the Far North. Many regions of Siberia and the Far East constantly experience significant fluctuations in the average daily temperature. The range of such fluctuations can be up to 20 degrees.

Naturally, not every building and finishing material can withstand such harsh conditions. A sharp temperature drop invariably leads to stretching - compression of the material, its deformation, the appearance of cracks, rupture, etc. Such changes are especially noticeable on the roofing.

One of the most economical and commonly used roofing materials is built-up roofing. Ruberoid and other bituminous roofs are very cheap, and this attracts buyers. But it is not in vain that they say that a miser pays twice. The very next year, such a roof, when operating in harsh weather conditions, needs to be repaired.

Liquid roofing is a fundamentally new direction in the field of roofing materials. The basis of such a roof is liquid rubber. The coating does not need to be preheated or melted, it is the so-called "cold type" of the roofing sheet.

Of course, the cost of such a coating will be higher than when using built-up roofing. But this is understandable. Liquid roofing allows you to forget about the restoration, repair and replacement of the roof of your house for 20 or more years, while the roofing material will have to be changed many times more often. So it turns out that liquid roofing in the end turns out to be much more profitable and preferable than roofing material.

The undeniable advantages of this material include:

- Ease of installation;

- Excellent adhesion to any kind of coatings;

- High resistance to sun, water, precipitation, fire;

- An ideal material for covering curved surfaces, geometrically complex roofs;

- Light weight;

- Absence of the need to use special tools and fasteners;

Long service life

Due to the absence of harmful substances, this roof is also an environmentally friendly material.

In addition, instead of the usual black color, liquid roofing can also be made in a multi-colored version. So your house will now not only be securely sheltered from rain and snow, but will also become aesthetically attractive.

In our climate, liquid roofing is not always possible. It depends on the fact that Russia has different latitudes and different temperature zones. The Ascension company has developed an all-weather roofing covering Blockade. Liquid roofing can be used in such cities as Novosibirsk, Yakutsk, Vorkuta, Murmansk, Nefteyugansk, Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Petrozavodsk and other Russian cities. Liquid roof Blockade proved to be excellent. An indispensable waterproofing material when applied at low temperatures. The temperature of liquid roof application is from minus 20 to plus 35 degrees Celsius.

For the installation of a new roof or the repair of a used one, the blockade liquid coating is an excellent waterproofing material. This modern material is made on the basis of a polymer binder. It can be applied to any roof surface. The blockade serves as a reliable final coating that protects the surface from the effects of natural phenomena. If the roof leaks at the joints and seams, then the liquid roof will reliably protect it from moisture penetration and exposure to sunlight. Such material is applied to the rolled surface, slate, cement and wood. In all cases, liquid roofing becomes a reliable protection for the roof of a house, terrace, garage, veranda and other objects.

LLC IK "VOSKHOZHDENIE" is a reliable supplier of polymer waterproofing to the construction markets of the country. Blockade insulation is much more reliable and durable than bitumen-based roll insulation. Indeed, during the installation of rolled materials, joints remain, which can cause moisture to penetrate into the room. In addition, under the influence of sunlight, bitumen is gradually destroyed. Liquid roofing material covers the surface evenly, leaving no chance for precipitation to penetrate.

Insulation from this manufacturer is used not only for roofing, but also for covering the foundation, which reliably protects walls from dampness, as well as for isolating basements. Today Blockade is the most reliable and high-quality type of protection of premises from moisture penetration. On the company's website, anyone can order liquid waterproofing in the required quantity and the material will be delivered directly to the construction site.

For wholesale buyers in the company there are favorable discounts. Liquid waterproofing is widely used for waterproofing balconies, loggias, bathrooms, walls, floors and roofs. This environmentally friendly material enjoys well-deserved consumer confidence due to its impeccable quality and affordable price. The client can pick up the goods with their own transport, or they will be delivered by the courier service of the company. Payment is made in any form convenient for the buyer.

The use of such waterproofing as the Blockade will provide the owner of the premises with a cozy and comfortable stay for a sufficiently long period. Reliable insulation will help create a normal microclimate in the house, excluding the presence of mold and dampness. Since waterproofing does not require much effort and a long time, labor costs for builders are significantly reduced. If you order it in the online store, you can save a significant part of your money. The OSM exhibition presents the best examples of liquid waterproofing blockade.

The company's website contains a video of the installation of liquid waterproofing with step-by-step instructions. This video demonstrates the entire process of preparing the material and the surface on which it will be applied, as well as the actions of the work performers. Thanks to this video material, you can apply the material on the required surface yourself.

Polyurethane waterproofing

Waterproofing of roofs and other building objects
The durability and successful operation of any building structure is directly related to the creation of an optimal humidity and temperature regime for it. Condensate, which forms, for example, in places where there is no waterproofing of the roof, can not only penetrate into the insulation and spoil its quality, but also get directly into the living room, onto the surface of concrete or screed. Blockade liquid polymer will help to reliably protect walls, ceiling, floor and other parts of the building from moisture. Polyurethane waterproofing buy

Timely waterproofing of concrete in the basement increases the life of buildings.

Good roofing options for baths are metal tiles, corrugated board and soft roofing. A soft roof is great for a bath and, with proper and timely repairs, can last up to 50 years!

Repair of a soft roof is needed much more often than restoration work on hard types of coatings. We recommend every year in the spring to inspect the roofing carpet for defects and damage. Check not only the finish, but also the gutter system, screed and hoods.

We will consider two repair methods:

Traditional repair method: welding

To preserve the appearance and performance of the roof, the coating must be smeared with a special mastic and covered with roofing material every 3-4 years. Thanks to such an easy repair of a soft roof, the panels will be better protected from moisture and temperature extremes.

It is necessary to start repairing a soft roof only in warm and dry weather. At the same time, the coating itself should not be wet - if it has recently rained, it is better to wait a couple of days.

The video shows the main steps:

Necessary materials for the repair of a soft roof:

  • Ruberoid or its analogues
  • Gas burner or blowtorch
  • Any bituminous mastic for waterproofing

Before repair work, thoroughly clean the bath roof, clean storm drains and receiving gutters.

Repair technology:

Damaged areas of the coating must be cut out and, as necessary, the destroyed sections of the screed should be removed.

Do the lubrication in the direction from the top of the roof to the bottom. If it is necessary to put a patch, then it is cut out in such a way that its size is 10 cm larger than the repaired area. The patch is glued to any bituminous mastic.

We fill these places with fresh mortar and seal them with a primer containing rubber. Apply primer in two layers:

  • the first layer - as an absorbent coating,
  • then the second layer, which should cover the damaged areas with a margin.

Without fail, inspect and, if necessary, renew the roof parapets.

Rolled material is best welded with a gas flame burner, the use of a blowtorch is not particularly effective. Slowly, from top to bottom, go through the entire area of the roof of the bath, fusing patches to defective areas.

The final stage of restoration work is the processing of junctions to dormer windows, parapets, air vents, chimneys, etc. This stage requires special attention.

Do not forget about weathervanes - devices that allow you to remove water vapor that has accumulated above the base of the roof. They are equipped in such a way that one device makes it possible to remove vapors from under the coating within a radius of approximately 8 meters.

It should be said that the main problems of bituminous roofing materials are the formation of cracks, as well as swelling (ie air bags) between their layers.

When a soft roof is overhauled, the cracks are bent back. If this section is located at the junction, the protective metal apron is first removed, then the damaged layer of material is cut out slightly above the crack.

Following this, with the help of a transitional ledge, free the roofing carpet from the backfill or protective layer. Do this to a width of up to one meter from the exposed side. Next, stick 2-3 layers of roofing material, letting it overlap the main coating by 10-15cm. Then replace the protective apron.

If you find air bags between the layers of the coating, free the carpet from the backfill, or the protective material up to a width of 20 cm from the swollen area. After that, with a sharp knife, make a cross-shaped cut along the air sac over its entire width and depth. Bend the edges of the cut, clean the swelling from debris, old bituminous mastic, and if it is wet, dry it. Then apply any mastic, hot or cold, to the defective area, and glue the patch.

Then apply a final layer of bitumen over it and return the bent edges of the roofing to their places. Press them to the base, then seal the treated area with a slightly larger patch than the previous one. On this, do-it-yourself soft roof repair can be considered complete.

Disadvantages of conventional repair methods:

Seasonal temperature fluctuations have the most negative impact on the soft roofing. In this regard, the use of obsolete repair methods is not economically profitable and far from rational.

With their application, financial resources for the repair of soft roofs are spent frighteningly regularly. This happens on average once every 2 years and is often accompanied by a local or complete change of the damaged coating. In addition, it is often necessary to reconstruct the roof frame, due to the damaging effects of moisture.

Although bitumen is insoluble in water, it is completely or partially soluble in chloroform, benzene, carbon disulfide and other organic solvents. In other words, bituminous roofing does not have sufficient protection against aggressive chemicals.

Another important factor is that all varieties of bitumen are produced from fossil fuels. Hence the conclusion follows: the use of a burner when we make repairs and install a soft roof in the summer can lead to its ignition.

Due to its physical properties, bitumen is highly deformed in winter, and many large and small cracks are formed. In hot summers, the material may leak, exposing the base of the roof. These problems contribute to the infiltration of sediments through damage to the coating, the formation of air pockets and the accumulation of moisture under the insulation.

Even if you, while repairing the soft roof of a garage, house, bath, use the latest roll materials, gluing their joints with bitumen heated by a burner will lead to the same result.

Repair of a soft roof using liquid rubber

Having tried once to repair coatings with liquid rubber, you will forget about such work for a very long time - up to 15 years. This is possible due to the special properties of polymers.

The material can be used on flat and any pitched roofs. The use of liquid rubber is justified from any point of view:

  • quality,
  • durability,
  • security,
  • as well as financial benefits.

The composition used, in fact, is a two-component water emulsion on a bitumen-polymer basis. It must be applied using special equipment using the cold spray method.

This absolutely excludes the possibility of fires during the implementation of roofing work and during the subsequent operation of the coating. The composition does not contain toxic volatile compounds.

This method is suitable for both soft tile roofing and rolled roofing.

It should be said about the high elasticity of the resulting coating. The coefficient of its maximum elongation is more than 1000%. When you make repairs to a soft roof, the polymer material hardens almost instantly. This forms a durable rubber membrane that is resistant to both low and high temperatures. And the coating has the ability to "self-heal" and increased adhesion to the base.

Every roof needs some type of roofing material to serve as the building's front line of defense against the weather. Therefore, the construction industry constantly offers novelties on the coating market, and one of them is liquid roofing. Its operational properties and features will be discussed further.

Bitumen, like many years ago, is the basis for many roofing materials, especially for flat roofs, due to its specific chemical and physical properties.

Based on it, novelties are constantly being developed, and one of them is liquid rubber. It is bitumen-polymer containing one or more components in its composition.

Strictly speaking, "single-component" compositions can only be called as such conditionally, since they are ready-made mixtures of various substances, ready for use and not requiring mixing and other additional operations.

At the moment, liquid rubber for roofing is one of the most technologically advanced materials in the device and unpretentious in operation.

It is used both independently and as a waterproofing for other types of coatings - and, unlike classical films and membranes, it is applied over the base.

There are practically none on which liquid roofing could not be applied due to its high degree of adhesion (penetration and adhesion).

Among them:

  • Monolithic and precast concrete
  • Cement strainer
  • Tree
  • Metal
  • Tiling (including as a bottom waterproofing layer)
  • Slate
  • Old coatings from roll materials

At the same time, a special advantage of the material is that on the roof, where the liquid roof is applied, the roof, as such, can be of any shape, and with the most complex geometry.

The advantages of this mastic include:

  • Creation of a solid roofing carpet without seams
  • No connection problems at the locations of various over-roof structures
  • High elasticity
  • Durability (20 years or more)
  • Ease of application and fast curing
  • High water resistance even under extreme conditions
  • Chemical and biological resistance
  • Wide operating temperature range (-60 - +110 °С)
  • Ecological safety (can be used even indoors)
  • Low material consumption (1-3 kg/m2)

The material is also applied in almost any way:

  • brush
  • Roller
  • Spatula
  • rubber squeegee
  • spraying plant

At the same time, high fire safety is ensured, since this roof is arranged in a cold way, without the use of open fire.

Hardening occurs almost immediately after application. You can walk on the coating, and full readiness comes in a day.

Minimum preparation is required, similar to a conventional screed or surface painting: cleaning from dirt, degreasing, if necessary - a primer

Important information! Degreasing and priming work must not be carried out using substances based on petroleum products.

A particularly effective area of application of the material is the repair of the roof with liquid rubber. As a rule, it is performed on the old coating of rolled materials.

It is noteworthy that in this case - both when completely covering the old roofing carpet, and when applying repair patches, the removal of the old coating is required only in places of chipping. Even bubbles, after cutting them, can be filled with mastic.

Advice! In order to save money, when installing a roof covering, you can use rolled material as the main material, and process complex areas with bitumen-polymer mastic - junctions, vertical and inclined surfaces, etc.

Of course, no material is without flaws, and liquid roofing also has them.

These include:

  • Relatively high price
  • Sensitivity to solvents and other petroleum products
  • Possibility of removing the coating, if necessary, only mechanically

However, the advantages still outweigh: the speed of the device, the possibility of applying to vertical surfaces (without subsequent slipping under the influence of heating by sunlight) - this material has no equal. Separately, it should be said about the high elasticity.

Thanks to it, when the ambient temperature changes, even the most abrupt one, the roof will work together with the base, which will not allow damage to occur either in the coating itself or in the places where the carpet adjoins various elements of the roof.

When installing additional protective layers (substrates from below and a hard coating - screeds, cement tiles, etc.) on a material such as, for example, Reinforced liquid roofing can be exploited.

Although mastic is usually produced in black, there are also color options. It can also be tinted with organosilicon or water-based dyes.

The remarkable properties of liquid rubber (although it's not actually rubber, it doesn't have the obligatory rubber in it) make it a versatile and very practical coating.

And if you additionally cover it with protective paint from ultraviolet radiation, such a roof will last much longer than the 20 years stated in its characteristics.
