Treatment of chronic candidiasis in women. How to cure chronic thrush quickly and permanently. Possible complications of the disease

Chronic thrush in women is a disease of an infectious nature, which is provoked by the active reproduction of yeast-like fungi. At first, the problem is diagnosed in the acute phase. If you do not take measures in time and do not start treatment, it flows into a chronic form.

Thrush can develop without clear clinical manifestations, which significantly complicates the diagnosis. Timely detection and therapy of the disease will help to avoid complications.

Chronic thrush in women

More than half of the fair sex of the planet has encountered thrush. With proper treatment, the disease is quickly treated and does not return again. In 25% of cases, chronic candidiasis is observed. This is due to the woman's insufficient attention to her health. Often, ladies try to heal on their own or completely ignore negative symptoms.

Chronic thrush is characterized by alternating periods of rest and exacerbation. The severity of the course of the disease can be said if relapses occur more often than four times a year. If the symptoms of the disease appear before every menstruation, this indicates in favor of a serious inflammatory process, the treatment of which will be long and difficult.

Chronic thrush in women is often complicated by concomitant diseases. Genital herpes and various sexually transmitted diseases are often diagnosed. They change the symptoms, which complicates the diagnosis and provokes the transition of the problem into a chronic form.

Candidiasis is especially dangerous during pregnancy. Women are advised to undergo a complete medical examination at the planning stage of conception. In this case, both partners will have to visit the doctor.

Main reasons

Fungi of the genus Candida live in the body of every woman. Their concentration is so low that it cannot threaten health. Under certain conditions, the pathogen begins to multiply actively. The causes of chronic thrush can be as follows:

  • The presence of other chronic diseases, which leads to a serious weakening of the immune system.
  • Sexual contact with a carrier of the infection without the use of barrier contraceptives.
  • Violation of the norms of individual hygiene.
  • Deviations in the functioning of the endocrine system.
  • Changes in hormonal levels. Candidiasis often accompanies pregnancy or menopause.
  • Unbalanced diet.
  • Long-term use of antibacterial drugs.
  • Long-term use of eubiotics not prescribed by a doctor. Such drugs contribute to the creation of an acidic environment in the vagina in which yeast-like mushrooms feel comfortable.

With the wrong approach to therapy, fungi can develop resistance to the effects of many medicines. It is possible to weaken their activity only for a while, but they continue to live in the body and at any time can provoke a relapse.

Before starting treatment, it is necessary to identify and eliminate the factor that provoked the development of the problem. Otherwise, it will not be possible to defeat the disease.

The danger of candidiasis

Chronic candidiasis can appear in both older women and young girls. It poses a significant health hazard. The disease is fraught with the following complications:

  • The formation of adhesions in the fallopian tubes, obstruction develops. This greatly complicates the process of conception.
  • Cervical erosion.
  • Infertility.
  • Cystitis.
  • Adnexitis.
  • Pyelonephritis.

The chronic form of thrush by itself does not lead to the appearance of oncology. But it provokes a decrease in the body's resistance. He loses the ability to resist viral and bacterial infections. Therefore, the likelihood of infection with oncogenic strains increases significantly.

The disease causes physical discomfort. The vital activity of fungi provokes constant injury to the mucous surfaces of the vagina. This leads to excessive dryness, painful sensations during intercourse. If the discomfort is too strong, the woman tries to avoid intimacy with her partner, which negatively affects her psychological state.

Candidiasis is transmitted to the sexual partner. Therefore, if the disease is diagnosed in a woman, the man will also need treatment.

Symptoms

Chronic thrush does not always have symptoms. Most often, the disease is latent. Sometimes the following symptoms of a problem may appear:

  • Discomfort in the genital area. They intensify during intercourse.
  • The condition of the nails deteriorates, they begin to exfoliate and break quickly.
  • After sex, there is a whitish vaginal discharge with a repulsive sour smell.
  • The mucous surfaces of the vagina become dry, their shade may change.

How can thrush be treated in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy?

It is very difficult to recognize chronic thrush by such signs. It is possible to make an accurate diagnosis only after a diagnosis in a medical institution.

The most indicative symptoms appear during an exacerbation of the disease:

  • Severe itching and burning in the genital area.
  • During the emptying of the bladder, cramps are felt.
  • Discharge appears that has a curdled structure and a white tint. Their smell is pungent and extremely unpleasant.

The appearance of the first symptoms of chronic thrush should prompt a woman to seek immediate medical attention. Many argue that it happens that candidal lesions go away on their own. This happens only in exceptional cases, you cannot count on it.

Competent diagnostics

For an accurate diagnosis, a medical examination is carried out on the patient. The following techniques are used:

  • Microscopic examination of a vaginal smear. The gynecologist takes a biological material from a woman. The secret is applied to a glass slide and examined under a microscope. In the presence of chronic candidiasis, yeast-like fungi will be visible.
  • Bacteriological culture. The secret from the woman's vagina is placed in a nutrient medium. After some time, the formation of a whole colony of fungi is noted. This can happen with the image of a healthy woman. Therefore, the number of pathogens plays a key role here. The presence of thrush is indicated by the number of fungi exceeding 10,000 CFU per 1 ml.
  • Study of the fungus for drug resistance. This helps specialists decide how to treat the disease as effectively as possible.

Therapy program

Treatment for chronic thrush should be comprehensive. Particular attention is paid to maintaining the protective functions of the body. Only by restoring immunity will it be possible to cope with the disease. The following therapeutic techniques are used:

  • The use of medicines.
  • Lifestyle adjustments.
  • Compliance with a diet.

The scheme of how to cure chronic thrush is developed individually for each patient. Uncontrolled use of any means will lead to a complication of the disease.

The use of medicines

The main way how to treat chronic thrush is the use of medications. Today, a large number of antimycotic drugs have been developed. They come in various forms:

  • Pills. Helps manage symptoms and treat the underlying cause. Fluconazole, Flucostat, Diflucan, Nystatin and others are often prescribed. Such drugs in the form of tablets are prohibited from taking during pregnancy, as well as with individual sensitivity to the components of the drug.
  • Creams and ointments. They have good local action. The components of the drug quickly penetrate to the focus of infection and suppress the activity of fungi. Experts recommend using Lomexin, Nystatin, Candide and others. The cream is injected as deep as possible into the vagina several times a day.
  • Candles. They are used as an adjuvant in the treatment of chronic thrush in women. The active ingredient quickly stops the growth of fungi. Apply Clotrimazole, Macmiror, Pimafucin and others. Not all of them are allowed during pregnancy, therefore, before starting treatment, you must carefully read the instructions.

In addition to antimycotic drugs, specialists prescribe medications that restore the normal microflora of the vagina. The most effective drugs are in the form of suppositories: Bifidumbacterin, Vagikal, Lactobacterin and others. They contain beneficial bacteria that suppress the activity of pathogenic microflora.

To restore the protective functions of the body, immunomodulators are used. The most effective and safe are funds based on interferon. Only correctly treated candidiasis will not lead to the development of complications.

Diet therapy

Drugs for the treatment of chronic candidiasis in women are effective only if the diet is adjusted. In this case, it is necessary to follow the basic recommendations:

  • It is strictly forbidden to consume alcohol, blue cheese, confectionery, smoked meats and marinades. These products stimulate active growth of the fungus.
  • You will also have to give up products containing a large amount of sugar: chocolate, jam, cakes, as well as sweet fruits and berries.
  • Foods containing lactose will also be harmful.
  • The diet must include garlic, green onions, seafood, legumes, cereals, seeds and nuts.
  • Natural yogurt enriched with probiotics will bring benefits. You can cook it yourself. It is enough to find the right sourdough and stock up on milk.
  • The menu should contain sour berries: lingonberries, cranberries, blueberries and sea buckthorn. They can be eaten fresh or prepared on their basis fruit drinks and fruit drinks without sugar.
  • Eating enough fruits and vegetables will help stimulate the immune system. Cabbage, carrots, beets, cucumbers, apples, lemons and plums are especially useful.
  • Drink plenty of clean water. You must drink at least 1.5 liters per day. You can supplement the drinking regimen with decoctions of medicinal plants: rose hips, chamomile, oregano.

Dear friends, hello!

Today we will talk about thrush.

Do you often get this problem?

I hear your friendly "yes"!

Sure! It is much easier to go to a pharmacy than to trudge to a clinic, take a coupon, wait a week or more in the wings ... And no one cares that "there" everything itches, itches and bakes.

And if the advice of the female doctor is “douche with soda and chamomile” or “insert a tampon soaked in kefir” (this is not an invention), then I would like to tell him a lot of “warm” words.

What kind of rubbish is this - a thrush? Where does it come from? What do you need to find out from a customer who asks you something from a thrush? How is this infection finally treated? Why does it sometimes fail? What to offer in the complex?

Shall we figure it out?

How do mushrooms enter the body?

We already spoke about mushrooms once. But this was a conversation about fungal infections and skin.

Among other pathogens of mycoses, I named you yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida.

They are the cause of thrush.

We can purchase them in the process of life, or we can get them as a gift from our mother even at birth, if a thrush visited her just before giving birth.

In the first case, vulvovaginal candidiasis, as the thrush is otherwise called, can be contracted through direct contact with a sick person, including a sexual one, through a shared towel.

In the second case, when passing through the birth canal, fungi enter the child's skin, settle on the oral mucosa, penetrate the body with amniotic fluid and become permanent residents of the large intestine, vaginal mucosa.

Vaginal residents

However, fungi are not permanent or predominant representatives of the vaginal fauna. Now I wrote this word and thought: I wonder why, when it comes to microbes, they say microflora? After all, "flora" are plants, and "fauna" are animals. Or are microorganisms more like plants?

The main inhabitants of the vagina are lactobacilli. They make up more than 90%.

Bifidobacteria and opportunistic microbes also live here in minimal amounts: gardnerella, mycoplasma, streptococci, staphylococci, anaerobes, etc.

Lactobacilli perform a very important function: they protect the vagina from external microorganisms, restrain the excessive reproduction of "neighbors" and prevent them from going all out.

Vaginal epithelium is a multilayer structure. Like the stratum corneum of the cutaneous epidermis, young epithelial cells arise in the lowest layer, which divide, mature, moving to the upper layers, and then slough off.

There is glycogen in the epithelial cells of the vagina. Lactobacilli break it down to form lactic acid. This maintains the acidic environment in the vagina at a level of 3.8-4.5, which protects it from pathogenic bacteria.

Hence, it is understandable why you cannot use douching with a solution of soda, which doctors are so fond of recommending. Baking soda alkalizes the vagina and provokes gynecological problems.

Anyway, any douching is harmful, because wash out beneficial microbes, violate the ratio of good and conditionally bad bacteria. There are fewer good ones, but a holy place is never empty, so it is filled with the very conditionally pathogenic bacteria that were just waiting for this to begin to multiply.

In addition, soda dries the mucous membrane, and the dry mucous membrane is vulnerable. Therefore, the relief of symptoms after this method of treatment is the calm before the storm. The thrush will play out with renewed vigor, other bad guys will join the mushrooms. Bacterial vaginosis will develop.

What does the first day of the cycle have to do with it?

You may have seen in the doctors' appointments that with recurrent thrush, they are prescribed on the first day of menstruation.

Do you know why?

The vaginal epithelium is hormone dependent. Estrogens help its cells to store glycogen and therefore break it down with the release of lactic acid. And they also provide adhesion of lactobacilli to the cells of the vaginal epithelium.

But in the early days of the cycle, estrogen is low.

During this period, a large number of destroyed endometrial cells and blood cells enter the vagina, and the environment here shifts to the alkaline side (pH increases to 5.0-6.0).

Therefore, the risk of contracting thrush at the beginning of the menstrual cycle increases.

What provokes vulvovaginal candidiasis?

Why is vaginal candidiasis called thrush?

Because the discharge in this disease resembles sour milk.

So, the most common factors provoking the appearance of thrush:

  1. ... They destroy not only harmful, but also beneficial microbes, including in the vagina, i.e. lactobacilli. There are fewer of them, they cannot perform their protective function, and the mushrooms begin to multiply intensively.
  2. ... During pregnancy, vaginal candidiasis occurs 2-3 times more often.

Sometimes thrush is a marker of pregnancy, when the test still shows nothing, and the fungus is already there!

This is explained, firstly, by a physiological decrease in immunity during this period, in order to reduce the activity of the immune system, which regards the fetus as a foreign body that needs to be expelled.

Secondly, hormonal changes occur, as a result of which there is too much glycogen in the cells of the vagina, and this is also bad. Lactobacilli do not have time to break it down, and it provokes the reproduction of fungi.

  1. Violation of hygiene rules. This is the use of tampons, which, at times, are in an intimate place all day, collecting all the representatives of the vaginal fauna. This also includes an excessive enthusiasm for antiseptic agents that are not intended for intimate hygiene. Like antibiotics, they destroy everyone in a row, without figuring out who is right and who is wrong.

Keep in mind yourself and tell your customers that the tampons need to be changed every 2 hours!

Some gynecologists are not only against tampons, but also against panty liners. they disrupt the access of oxygen to an intimate place.

  1. Pools. Chlorinated water dries the mucous membrane, which leads directly to vaginal dysbiosis.
  2. Clothes and some toilet items. These are tight trousers, jeans that squeeze and rub in intimate places, disrupting blood circulation and reducing local protection. The same applies to thongs.

About the journey of microorganisms along the string from point K (intestines) to point B (vagina), we have already with you sometime.

Let's add here briefs made of synthetic materials that trap heat and moisture, which is why mushrooms grow like after rain. So down with lacy sexy lingerie, long live the good old hebes!

  1. Often, thrush is brought from warm countries. Firstly, climate change is for the organism, as a result of which it decreases. Secondly, this means increased humidity in an intimate place, if you are in a wet swimsuit all day.
  2. Hypothyroidism As you know, the thyroid gland regulates the function of the ovaries. With her hypofunction, hormonal disorders in the reproductive system are provided. Little estrogen - little glycogen in the vaginal epithelium. Little glycogen, lactobacilli have nothing to break down. There is nothing to split - lactic acid is not formed in the required amount. Lactic acid is not formed - the acidic environment in the vagina is not maintained.
  3. Sweet tooth. It turns out that mushrooms are a terrible sweet tooth. Therefore, during the treatment of candidiasis, doctors advise to give up sweets and flour. For the same reason, thrush often visits.
  4. Combined hormonal. They were included in this black list because they create a lower level of estrogen in the female body than natural.
  5. Estrogen-containing hormonal drugs for HRT. Here is another extreme: there are a lot of estrogens, the level of glycogen in the cells rises, it pulls water on itself, the mucous membrane looses, the pH shifts to the alkaline side. In 20% of women, glucose tolerance changes.
  6. Glucocorticosteroids, immunosuppressants - i.e. drugs that reduce immunity.

How does thrush manifest?

It is not difficult to recognize thrush.

There may be the following complaints:

  1. Itching, burning, discomfort in an intimate place, which intensifies in the evening.
  2. White, odorless, cheesy discharge. The people call them "Beli".
  3. Soreness during sexual intercourse.
  4. Burning sensation when urinating.

Thrush occurs in men, and then white plaque, redness, and edema appear on the genitals. The rest of the complaints are the same as in women, but they are less pronounced.

To confirm the diagnosis of candidiasis, a smear is taken, sowing is done.

What forms of thrush are there?

There are 2 forms:

  1. Acute candidiasis. It takes no more than 2 months.
  2. Chronic candidiasis. Lasts more than 2 months.

Chronic candidiasis is divided into 2 types:

  • Recurrent - symptoms after treatment completely go away, but exacerbations occur at least 4 times a year.
  • Persistent - symptoms are constantly present to one degree or another. After treatment, they subside a little.

What questions should you ask the buyer?

When you are asked to give something for thrush, you do not need to immediately offer antimycotic. Talk to the customer. Where did she get the idea that it was a thrush?

Questions might be:

  1. Was this diagnosis made by your doctor?
  2. How does the disease manifest? Itching, burning, pain when urinating? What kind of discharge? (interested in color, consistency). White, curdled - this is a thrush. If others, then the big question is what it is. Perhaps it is an STD, and it makes no sense to recommend the same Fluconazole.
  3. Is this your first time, or have you already had similar symptoms? If you have had thrush, find out how often exacerbations occur.

The fluconazole treatment regimen depends on the severity of the symptoms, the frequency of exacerbations.

Some of you are now reading these lines and thinking:

- Yeah, there is a queue at half a pharmacy, and I will be interested in secretions?

In order not to embarrass the customer and not to be embarrassed herself, it is better to go out to her room with the words: "Now I will go to you, I need to clarify something," then, taking her aside, ask her these questions, because without this your recommendations may not be entirely literate.

General scheme for the treatment of thrush

The treatment regimen depends on several factors:

  1. Acute or chronic process?
  2. Is there only a thrush? Fungi often combine with other representatives of opportunistic flora, so the task becomes more complicated.
  3. How bright are the symptoms?
  4. Are there any comorbidities?

Comprehensive treatment for thrush includes:

  1. Systemic antimycotic.
  2. Local antimycotic.
  3. After a course of treatment - vaginal eubiotic to restore the flora of the vagina.
  4. With chronic thrush -.

Fluconazole and Itraconazole are most commonly used for systemic therapy.

Treatment regimen for thrush with Fluconazole

There are different treatment regimens with Fluconazole, but the following seems to me the most logical:

  1. Loose discharge, slight itching and discomfort, or new-onset thrush:

Fluconazole 150 mg as a single dose for both men and women.

  1. Itching, burning, discomfort, profuse discharge, 1-4 episodes of thrush per year:

Woman: Fluconazole 150 mg twice with an interval of 72 hours.

The man: 150 mg once.

  1. Recurrent thrush (more than 4 episodes per year):

Woman: 150 mg three times with an interval of 72 hours. Then 150 mg once a week for 6 months.

The man:150 mg once.

If Fluconazole is ineffective - see a doctor!

If the diagnosis of candidiasis is confirmed, the doctor may prescribe, for example, Itraconazole 200 mg 2 times 1 day or 200 mg 1 time per day for 3 days.

Other

Influencing mushrooms in their habitat

For local treatment, if the symptomatology is definitely thrush, in my opinion, it should be a monopreparation: Pimafucin, Livarol, Zalain, Clotrimazole, Ginesol 7, Ginofort.

For a woman, most often these are suppositories or vaginal capsules / tablets, for a man - a cream.

The duration of treatment for each drug is different.

The average duration of application of the cream for a man is 7-10 days.

As for the combined funds (Terzhinan, Polizhinaks, Klion D, etc.), then using them for thrush is like cutting your finger and simultaneously smearing it with iodine. With an antifungal component, we will destroy the fungus, and others - useful microbes, while reducing local immunity, which in itself is the cause of thrush.

They are usually prescribed for combined fungal-bacterial infection.

You ask: but how do you recognize her?

Firstly, bacterial infection is manifested by "colored" secretions (yellowish-greenish).

Secondly, unpleasant odor.

Thirdly, it can give in the stomach, deterioration in general health.

And then, most likely, you need Macmiror, Flagil or a broad-spectrum antibiotic inside. Plus a combined local remedy such as Terzhinana or Poliginax.

We restore microflora

Information for thought. In the instructions for such drugs, candidiasis is listed in the list of contraindications, but doctors prescribe them in the complex treatment of thrush. How to understand this?

I did not find clear explanations for this. Moreover, opinions on which environment Candida fungi reproduce better are divided: some say that in acidic (which I disagree with), others - in alkaline. If we assume that they like an acidic environment, then how to explain their existence in the large intestine, where the environment is weakly alkaline?

And yet: why are these drugs contraindicated in candidiasis?

I believe that firstly, because of the excipients. For example, in the preparation Acylact it is written that bacteria were cultivated with the addition of a sucrose-milk medium, and mushrooms, as you now know, love sweets.

Secondly, against the background of candidiasis, the affected cells of the vaginal epithelium contain little glycogen, so the lactobacilli will not have enough nutrient substrate, and candidiasis will only worsen.

But after the end of antifungal therapy with negative smears for the fungus, these drugs will be very useful.

What do you think about this?

Dealing with immunity

In case of recurrent candidiasis, the doctor may prescribe Viferon, Genferon, Polyoxidonium in candles, and so on.

We care properly

And ideally, especially with recurrent thrush, it is good to use a special intimate care product that will maintain an optimal environment in the vagina (for example, Lactacid).

During the treatment:

  1. Use only cotton linen.
  2. Give up thongs and tight pants, jeans.
  3. Eliminate sweet and starchy foods from your diet.
  4. For this period, you need to refrain from sexual intercourse.
  5. Both need to be treated.

Why is the treatment of thrush often ineffective?

I found 5 reasons for this:

By the way, if a woman has doubts that this is a thrush, you can offer her the FrauTest Candida.

What can you do with thrush during pregnancy?

Pimafucin: suppositories, tablets. The rest is all with some reservations.

That's all I wanted to tell you today.

Chronic thrush is a common phenomenon in women. After all, it often happens that candidiasis is asymptomatic, a woman is under-treated, or the infection is found in a partner who did not know about her and regularly returned it to the lady. This situation is among the complicated and requires long-term treatment. But not everyone knows how to treat chronic thrush in women.

What is the problem

Chronic candidiasis in women is a disease characterized by its periodic exacerbations. The title "chronic" thrush is awarded if it occurs at least 4 times a year or is celebrated at least once every three months. True, this is on condition that the woman does not use antibiotics in connection with an unrelated disease.

Please note: burning and itching, recurring episodically and not causing permanent discomfort, are quite normal for some time after the end of the course of antibiotic therapy and are not chronic thrush.

Signs of a chronic process can be:

  • Occurring periodically and without any reason, the appearance of itching in the intimate area, accompanied by small discharge, for example, before menstruation or with a cold;
  • Evening itching, which manifests itself against the background of accumulation of leucorrhoea at the exit from the vagina - this is usually noted before taking a bath or shower;
  • Painful sensations during intimacy;
  • Having itching or pain in your partner after sex;
  • Pain in the lower abdomen.

The symptoms of chronic thrush can appear both collectively and separately. It is important to understand that you cannot ignore such moments, because despite its seeming harmlessness, chronic thrush in a woman can lead to rather serious complications. So, for example, the infection easily passes to the intestines, into the bladder, through the urinary tract goes to the kidneys. In addition, against its background, infertility and cycle failure are not uncommon. So, you should fight it.

General principles of therapy

Chronic thrush, the symptoms of which in women appear quite unambiguously, requires complex treatment. Therefore, doctors often outline a list that, at first glance, is not particularly suitable and not targeted. However, you should not neglect it - such a treatment regimen for chronic thrush in women has been verified and justified in the experience of many women.

So, the diagram will look like this:

  1. Taking special antimycotic drugs - after all, the main causative agent of pathology is Candida fungus;
  2. The use of funds to strengthen the immune system - it has been proven that most often thrush recurs precisely when the body's defenses are reduced, it simply does not have enough internal capacities to fight pathological microorganisms;
  3. Medicines responsible for restoring normal microflora in the vagina - beneficial microorganisms will fight pathogens and restore tissues around them many times faster;
  4. Vitamins are general tonic.

The choice of drugs, even vitamins, is completely the prerogative of the doctor. He makes the necessary appointments based on examination and laboratory tests. A visit to a specialist is mandatory, because often the signs of chronic thrush in women are blurred and blurred.

Sex life will also have to be included in the treatment regimen. Thrush is not a sexually transmitted disease. However, the risk of partner infection is still present. This means that condoms should be used, and if possible, at least for the period of the active phase of treatment, and completely exclude sexual intercourse. In addition, the partner also needs to be sure to check. Indeed, in men, thrush is often asymptomatic, but he can transfer it back to a woman quite quickly and easily.

The tests that the lady must pass include:

Please note: do not tune in to a quick cure. In a short time, you can only pacify acute thrush. If the disease has become chronic, it will take several months to heal.

A doctor's consultation is also necessary because the doctor will be able to send for a study on the sensitivity of fungi to certain drugs, and this will make the therapy of higher quality and targeted.

How to eat for more effective treatment

Chronic thrush in women, the treatment of which requires a lot of effort and time, also forces the lady to change her diet. Special therapeutic nutrition, as proved by various studies, helps to cope with pathology many times more effectively. Special diets for patients with candidiasis began to be offered back in the 90s of the last century. With their help, you can both reduce the brightness of symptoms and cope with the disease in general. After all, the correct selection of products contributes to the fact that the fungi do not receive nutrition and lose their strength.

The basic principles of nutrition for thrush require the inclusion in the diet:

  1. A large amount of ordinary clean water - at least one and a half liters per day;
  2. Grain products are a source of fiber, which normalizes digestion, relieves flatulence and provides better bowel function, where, as you know, up to 80% of human immunity is formed;
  3. Vegetables and fruits are an excellent source of vitamins;
  4. Fermented milk products - such products help the microflora to work more harmoniously and quickly colonize with healthy bacteria;
  5. Meat and poultry, as well as fish - they provide the body with the necessary amount of trace elements;
  6. Nuts and seeds - such products help to increase the amount of energy, however, you can consume no more than 5 tablespoons of them per day, because they are high in fat;
  7. Fats and oils - their amount should not exceed 1 tsp. per day.

Chronic vaginal candidiasis often leads to the fact that a woman feels tired and exhausted even while resting. The diet allows you to alleviate her condition and restore the joy of life.

Please note: you should not immediately quit the diet as soon as the doctor diagnosed a cure for the pathology. For a few months after recovery, it is worth adhering to such healthy dietary principles in order to completely deprive the mushrooms of their food base.

What foods can you eat

First of all, doctors recommend including foods that increase immunity in the lady's diet. After all, it is the failures in it that cause the activation of fungi. As a result, the list of foods allowed for thrush is as follows:

  • Fresh vegetable salads with vegetable oil dressing;
  • Lean meat, preferably cooked either in the form of stewing or boiled;
  • Kefir, cottage cheese, fermented baked milk, sour cream;
  • Vegetables and fruits - you should choose those that neutralize the acidic environment;
  • Spicy spices such as cloves, cinnamon and lavrushka.

What to give up

Treatment of chronic candidiasis in women with diet implies a list of strict prohibitions. The black list includes:

  1. Various sweets, including rolls, candies, sugary drinks and soda;
  2. Bakery products with yeast in the composition;
  3. Alcoholic drinks;
  4. Blue cheeses;
  5. Marinades in the form of sauces;
  6. Yoghurts with fillings - these drinks are high in sugar.

The calorie content of food for thrush does not exceed 2000 kcal. And this is a great food option for a healthy lifestyle. With its help, with a competent layout, it is quite possible to lose weight.

To make it clearer, you can give an example of a menu for the day for such a food system. So, for breakfast, you can use oatmeal, ideally boiled in water and without added sugar. It can be supplemented with fruits, nuts and berries. You can supplement the dish with sugar-free compote. For lunch you can pamper yourself with natural yogurt and an apple. For lunch, you can make vegetable soup, fresh vegetable salad and stewed fish. You can supplement everything with a cup of tea without sugar. For an afternoon snack, a soft-boiled egg with low-fat yogurt and an orange is a great solution. For dinner, you can make a vegetable stew and complement it with a piece of baked chicken.

Drugs

When asked how to treat chronic thrush in women, they usually mean drugs that can quickly minimize the activity of fungi. According to experts, the following drug options are used for the treatment of candidiasis:

  • Antibiotics from the group of polyenoids: these include levorin, nystatin, natamycin;
  • Various imidazole derivatives: these include the well-known clotrimazole, ketoconazole, isoconazole, etc .;
  • Thiazole derivatives are fluconazole (by the way, most often doctors prescribe drugs based on such an active substance for the treatment of candidiasis);
  • Salts - for example, dequalinium chloride;
  • Terbinafine.

Polyene antibiotics

These drugs are antifungal drugs that are classified as natural medicines. Such active substances act on the cell membrane, destroying it quickly, as a result of which the inner filling of the cell dissolves very quickly. When used orally, such drugs are not toxic and are not absorbed into the skin.

It is worth remembering that such undesirable side effects can develop during treatment with such agents, such as:

  1. Allergy;
  2. Nausea;
  3. Vomiting;
  4. Stool disorder;
  5. Stomach ache.

Today, doctors call such products obsolete. Only nystatin does not lose its position. On its basis, candles such as Terzhinan and Polygynax were released.

Derivatives from imidazole and thiazole

A similar active substance acts on ergosterol, a structural component of the fungal cell membrane. This leads to the same violation of the integrity of the membrane, dissolution of the cell contents and death of the fungus. Such drugs can be used both internally and locally. Systemic are:

  • Ketoconazole;
  • Itraconazole, etc.

By local means, i.e. those used in the form of ointments and suppositories are:

  1. Econazole;
  2. Miconazole, etc.

Econazole

The advantage of such options is the fact that the fungus does not develop any resistance to them. It is worth preparing for the appearance of some side effects - these are especially often manifested against the background of the use of drugs based on azoles. In this case, the following may be detected:

  • Nausea and other malfunctions of the digestive system;
  • Dizziness and pain in the head;
  • Seizures;
  • Allergy;
  • Peeling skin.

One of the most popular drugs from this group is Clotrimazole. It is mainly produced as vaginal tablets, gels, or ointments. Its advantage is the fact that it acts aimed, tk. it must be applied directly to the site of inflammation. However, it has a long-term cumulative effect - its concentration can be maintained for 3 days after application.

The scheme for using the tool is as follows:

  1. If in pills, you need to inject 1 tablet into the vagina per day. Course 7 days. In parallel, it is necessary to lubricate the skin of the genitals with cream;
  2. If in the form of a vaginal gel, it should be injected in the amount of 1 applicator per day at night deep into the vagina. Course 6 days;
  3. If in the form of candles - 1 piece at bedtime for 6 days.

Among others from this group, drugs such as Gyno-Travogen, Econazole, Santekvin, Ketodin, Livarol and others are prescribed.

This active ingredient is one of the most commonly used substances. It is found in such preparations as Diflucan, Mikosist, Fluzak, Mikomaxi, etc. available in various forms - capsules, solutions, gels.

It is widely prescribed for candidiasis of any localization. And he does a very good job of solving the problem of how to cure chronic thrush in women. With vaginal candidiasis, the drug is taken at a dosage of 150 mg once, and then 1 tablet once a month for a course of 4-12 months - this will reduce the frequency of relapses.

Dequalinium chloride

Typically, this active ingredient is found in the form of tablets. The mechanism of action on the fungus is quite standard - it, like any other means, acts on the membrane, destroying it. Vaginal tablets are placed in the vagina once a day for 6 consecutive days. A shorter course cannot be used because this will give untreated and a high risk of regular relapses.

Terbinafine

Preparations with such an active substance are usually available as tablets, creams and gels, as well as skin sprays. Such funds are highly effective in killing fungi, and can also simply inhibit their growth. The treatment regimen is prescribed by the doctor depending on the severity of the situation and the neglect of the case of thrush.

It is important to understand that, in any case, it is not worth adopting averaged therapy regimens. All treatment should be prescribed only by a doctor who is familiar with the test data and was able to see for himself how the situation proceeds. Chronic thrush often requires not only the main treatment - it has to be treated prophylactically and after. And it is better not to ignore these events. Indeed, each time it will be more difficult to get rid of the pathology.

Often, folk medicine is also used as a means of therapy - it is quite in demand among women, and, most importantly, doctors have nothing against it. But only if it is used as an addition to the main treatment regimen, and not instead of it.

Among the popular methods of treatment:

  • Baths;
  • Douching;
  • Padding with oils and herbs, etc.

Various remedies can act as therapeutic ones. So, for example, one of the popular options is regular honey. Its high effect is due to its antibacterial properties. But here it is important to understand that honey should be natural and not contain sugar. After all, the latter is an excellent breeding ground for pathological microorganisms. Honey solution for douching is prepared from 1 part honey and 10 parts water - you need to take warm and boiled. It is worth carrying out the procedure every day. The course is at least 14 days.

Herbs are often used for therapy. Chamomile, string, calendula are especially effective in the fight against thrush. They are steamed, and then they are washed, they sit in baths with them, or are used for douching. Alternatively, you can use for therapeutic purposes and herbal. To do this you need to take:

  1. Chamomile;
  2. Calendula;

All herbs are taken in equal proportions. They should be mixed well, and then a couple of tablespoons should be boiled in a thermos with boiling water. The broth is infused overnight, after which you must start drinking 1/3 cup three times a day half an hour before meals.

Herbal rinsing can be used. The recipe for one of the remedies has been tested over the years and shows a good effect. Such a collection cannot be used internally, but it is 100% suitable for washing. To prepare it, you need to take:

  • Chamomile;
  • Calendula;

The proportions are the same. For half a liter of water, 1 tbsp is required. such a collection. Pour the grass with fresh boiling water and stand for about half an hour. The infusion must be filtered and applied warm for the hygienic treatment of the genitals or for the douching procedure.

Iodine and soda are widely used in the treatment of chronic thrush in women. The recipe lasts for several days. In the first one, pour warm water into a bowl and add soda - a proportion of 1 tsp. per liter of water. Then the lady should sit in the basin and sit for about half an hour. On the second day, dilute soda again according to the same principle, but add iodine additionally - proportions: 1 tsp. per liter of water. And again you have to sit for half an hour. The procedure for such baths must be repeated daily until recovery occurs.

Treatment with folk remedies, like diet, and therapy with official medications, is recommended to continue after a complete cure for some time. This will be an excellent solution and will provide the highest quality prevention of fungal disease.

Chronic thrush or chronic vaginal candidiasis is an infectious disease that affects the vaginal mucosa of a woman due to the multiplication of a pathogenic bacteria (Candida fungus). The incipient disease usually occurs in the acute phase, after which it flows into the chronic stage in case of untimely therapy. The diagnosis of candidiasis is complicated by the fact that the disease can be latent for a long time. If you diagnose the disease in time and carry out competent treatment, then you can not worry about complications.

Features of the chronic form of candidiasis

Statistics show that every second sexually mature woman in the world has suffered from thrush at least once in her life. The chronic form of the disease is observed in about a quarter of them. For the most part, this is due to the fact that the fair sex is irresponsible to the manifestations of the symptoms of thrush, or they are trying to cure themselves with the help of dubious drugs.

The main difference between the chronic form of candidiasis is the alternation of periods of exacerbation and rest of candidiasis. If the symptoms intensify more often than 4-5 times a year, then the fungus develops passively, nothing terrible has happened yet, but it is urgent to consult a doctor. In the event that thrush is found every month, it's time to sound the alarm. This means only one thing - a severe inflammatory process is taking place in the girl's genitourinary system.

Please note that the chronic form of candidiasis is quite often accompanied by various complications in the form of sexually transmitted diseases of the grade differences and extensive genital herpes.

Diagnosis of an advanced chronic disease is always very difficult. The situation is even more difficult with pregnant women. Gynecologists recommend, even at the stage of planning for motherhood, to undergo a full medical examination in order to either exclude or identify the disease.

The causes of chronic candidiasis

You will be surprised, but the Candida fungus is in the body of every girl from birth. But its concentration is so scanty that it is not always detected with the help of tests and does not harm the body in any way. However, in the event that the microflora begins to change and becomes favorable for the fungus, it "wakes up" and begins to act.

Among the main causes of the onset of the chronic stage of thrush can be identified:

  • improper, unbalanced diet;
  • the presence of diseases that weaken a woman's immunity;
  • intimacy with a carrier of the fungus;
  • hormonal disruption, pregnancy, menopause;
  • improper use of antibacterial or antifungal diseases;
  • improper treatment of thrush.

Important! Improper treatment very often develops resistance to various components of the drugs in the fungus.

Danger of incorrect or late treatment of chronic candidiasis

Both young girls and mature women suffer from various forms of chronic canidosis. Launched thrush is dangerous with the following complications:

  • the formation of adhesions in the fallopian tubes, which complicate the passage through them and interfere with the normal conception of a child;
  • cervical erosion;
  • cystitis;
  • infertility;
  • pyelonephritis, etc.;
  • oncology.

Diagnosis of chronic thrush

In order to determine the degree of neglect of the disease, as well as to schedule the course of treatment, it is necessary to conduct a diagnosis. For this, the following techniques are used:

  1. Microscopic examination of a smear taken during examination from a woman's vagina. It is transferred to clean glass and then examined under a microscope.
  2. Bacterial sowing. The same smear is placed in a growth medium where pathogenic microbes are to multiply. This will happen even in the case of a smear on a healthy woman. The amount of fungal deposits is important to the specialist.
  3. Study of the Candida fungus for resistance to various components of antifungal drugs. This type of diagnostics is necessary for the accurate prescription of medications.

Additional types of diagnostic tests can be prescribed if the girl has any concomitant sexually transmitted diseases.

Development of a therapy program

Treatment of chronic thrush requires a strictly integrated approach. It should primarily be aimed at eliminating fungal deposits and maintaining the protective function of the body. In other words, before trying to completely get rid of the pathogenic bacteria, you need to restore immunity.

An integrated approach to the treatment of chronic candidiasis consists of three parts:

  1. Using a course of drugs (antiviral, antifungal, etc.).
  2. Correction of intimate care.
  3. Drawing up a special diet (temporarily or permanently).

It is important to understand that the course of treatment for a particular patient is an individually developed plan. Discard the pills that a friend advised and make an appointment with a doctor.

The most effective drugs against chronic thrush

The main blow to chronic candidiasis can be inflicted by antimycotic drugs. At the pharmacy, you can find them in three forms:

Please note that in some individual cases, in addition to the direct antimycotic drugs, the patient may be prescribed additional drugs that stabilize the microflora. The best of them are sold in the form of candles: "Bifidumbacterin", "Vagikal", "Lactobacterin". Their action is based on the multiplication of beneficial bacteria that defeat fungi and other growths.

The spread of provocateurs of candidiasis in the body always disrupts its normal functioning, therefore, in order to enhance the effect of the body's protective function, doctors often prescribe immunomodulators.

Correction of intimate care

A woman suffering from chronic thrush can herself contribute to her speedy recovery if she corrects her care for intimate places:

  • stop abusing hot showers;
  • will give up antibacterial products for intimate hygiene in favor of natural ones;
  • will not use other people's intimate objects;
  • avoiding tampons and minimizing the use of panty liners;
  • will use only soft toilet paper;
  • will wear more often underwear made of cotton materials;
  • will give up sex during recovery.

Proper nutrition for chronic thrush

A proper balanced diet has a direct impact on the course of disease recovery. It is not for nothing that popular wisdom says: "By what you eat, you either feed your disease, or get rid of it." Here are some tips on how to prevent or beat the disease as soon as possible:

  • negate your addictions;
  • give up heavily fried, smoked and spicy foods;
  • limit the consumption of foods high in sugar;
  • add more seafood, vegetables to the diet;
  • limit your intake of lactose;
  • add more sour berries to the daily menu;
  • drink plenty of cool, clean water.

It is in the power of every woman suffering from chronic candidiasis to defeat the disease so that she does not return. Make every effort to this, remember our advice and be healthy!
