    1. The screen, it is beautiful, specially uploaded high-quality pictures on the wallpaper, super. The viewing angles are maximum, the color rendition is excellent, the brightness is excessive, I have less than half. 2. Performance, I don't play games, I didn't load it too much, that's enough for me. 3. S-Pen, I discovered for myself in this device, now I constantly use a notebook, it is very convenient. 4. Battery life compared to Iphone 5, Sony ZL, Sony Z Ultra is about 30% higher. I don't have enough for two full, like many, but by the end of the day I have a stable 40%. 5. Support, 5.1.1 released, collapsible, unlike many flagships, changing the battery is not a problem.

Undoubtedly, the advantages include a juicy screen (perhaps for someone the stylus will be an advantage, but I don't really need it), many accessories (especially in online stores), a good camera, many necessary applications, with a new charge (micro or mini usb 3.0) charges very quickly, it is convenient for reading books and surfing the Internet, watching movies and videos on this device is simply amazing, it's good that the memory starts from 32 GB!

Plastic peels off in a circle over time
An abundant amount of unnecessary pre-installed software that is not needed, but hangs in memory and eats RAM and permanent memory. The software can be turned off, you cannot delete it without root. This is a flaw in most phones these days.

    1. The price, a new one came out, but they forgot to lower the old price tag.
    2. The fingerprint scanner does not work by pressing, it must be carried out, it is inconvenient, it often does not work, the competitor has many times more convenient.

The back cover is very weak, non-standard charging port, the rest is normal.

The battery is just awful. There are several phones in use - there is something to compare with. A phone for active use? 10 hours of WiFi for Access to online resources + BT and 2 hours of calls drop the battery in 16 hours. He holds the day with difficulty. If you use it as a dialer, it can hold out for 2-3 days. Other phones with less capacity will hold a charge for much longer. Films and other entertainment are not used.
No games or applications are needed. This is horror - constant monitoring of the remaining charge. As it was on the Samsung, the non-optimized consumption remained. There is experience of operating the familiar of almost the entire line of Samsung Galaxy - complaints about the low autonomy in almost all models.
Heating of the processor is not critical, but annoying - a kind of stove in my pants all of a sudden! Out of habit, God knows that we can

After updating Android to 5.0, it began to get very hot and sit down quickly.
The fast discharge seems to have passed, perhaps it was discharged after the firmware update due to the fact that the phone did not let go of my hands at all.

    If you play, then the battery is discharged "in the blink of an eye", but the charger will quickly fix it;
    Due to the fact that the 5.7-inch screen is sometimes inconvenient to use and there is nowhere to put in those places where there is little space, but any stick has "two sides";

Heats up! Heats up terribly! And if you use it while charging, it’s generally something hot! Most of the RAM is always clogged with something and is not cleaned at all. After six months of use, the video card caught a glitch, when watching a video, the screen began to be divided into many small screens and until you restart the phone it does not work, sometimes the screen is divided into only two in the browser.

The Galaxy Note line of smartphones has a special place in the Samsung lineup. On the one hand, the company does not position them as flagship, but on the other hand, the value of the model is growing every year. According to JK Shin, President and Head of IT and Mobile Communications, Samsung, Note 1 and 2 have sold more than 38 million units, and the company predicts Note 3 sales in excess of 10 million. Not bad. as for a category of devices that didn't even exist three years ago. Samsung has really invented a successful form factor and is now trying to strengthen its position. But will the company be able to continue to successfully sell smartphones that have come close to tablets? Let's take a look at the Galaxy Note 3 as an example.

The appearance of the previous two versions of Note was based on the flagship Galaxy S, but not everyone likes glossy plastic and Samsung decided to draw its own design for the Note 3.

Of course, the appearance of the device is easy to recognize a Samsung smartphone, and it even resembles the first Note a little. Nevertheless, there is nothing similar in the company's lineup today.

Almost the entire front panel of the Note 3 is occupied by a 5.68-inch display covered with protective glass. Under it is a mechanical key to go to the start screen and, with a long press, call the open programs manager. On either side of it are touch buttons for calling up the menu and going back one step. Above the screen you can see the Samsung logo, and just above the earpiece grill.

The edges of the smartphone body are made of plastic covered with glossy silver paint similar to metal.

The back of the Note 3 is a separate story. Everyone whom I managed to show the smartphone to during the testing period could not believe the first time that the back cover was made of plastic.

It's hard to blame people for such a mistake, for the simple reason that the back of the Note 3's case looks really like it was made of leather.

Here, both the texture and the stitching along the edges and even the tactile sensations are very similar. The plastic gives out only a hard coating in the case, because leather is a soft material.

Samsung claims that by imitating the skin on the back, they tried to highlight the fact that the Note 3 acts as a modern man's notebook. As for me, the designers did it. But most of all, the new material of the rear part pleases with its practicality. It does not get dirty, does not get stuck, and, apparently, it will be difficult to scratch it.

At first glance, it seems that the Note 3 body is monolithic, it is so well assembled. However, as with previous Samsung models, the back cover of the smartphone can be removed to reveal the battery. Without removing it, the user can remove the memory card from the slot, which can be useful for copying files to a laptop.

Overall, Samsung's designers have created a device with a nice design. One could again complain about the plastic case, but the tactile sensations from the Note 3 materials are very pleasant.

Dimensions and usability

The larger display on the Note 3 would inevitably lead to an increase in the size of the smartphone itself. However, Samsung engineers and designers have managed to fit the 5.68-inch display into a body that's just 0.1mm taller than the Note 2, while still 1.3mm narrower and 1.1mm thinner.

Thus, the smartphone screen has grown, but the body has become smaller. Its actual dimensions are 151.2x79.2x8.3 mm and weighs 168 grams. Reducing the width of the case significantly affected the usability, the device now fits better in the hand. From my own perspective, I can say that working with a smartphone with one hand has become easier, although it is still on the verge of comfortable use.

Moreover, the human constitution plays a big role here, and many people will simply be uncomfortable working with the Note 3 with one hand. But it is more than convenient to work with it with both hands. The ergonomics of the Note 3 are generally good, especially considering the size of the device. However, the smartphone still has three drawbacks in this regard. The first is the location of the volume rocker.

For some reason, she was raised very high, so during a conversation it is problematic to reach her with your index or thumb, depending on your grip.

Second, the earpiece is located very close to the upper edge of the front panel, so when you receive a call, you need to accustom yourself to putting the device to your ear not too high.

And the third - the location of the external speaker is such that it is very easy to close it with your hand if you hold the smartphone horizontally. This happens especially often in games and when watching videos. To the very dynamics of claims, by the way, no, it sounds loud.

If we talk about the size of the smartphone, then, as was the case with previous versions of Note, you get used to them very quickly. In addition, due to its smaller width, it no longer looks so massive.

Platform, performance and multitasking

Like the Galaxy S4, the Note 3 will be sold in the world with and without LTE support, respectively, and its platforms will be different. LTE is not yet expected in Ukraine, so Samsung will import a version with a system-on-a-chip Exynos Octa 5420, which includes 4 Cortex-A15 cores with a frequency of 1.9 GHz + 4 Cortex-A7 cores with a frequency of 1 , 3 GHz, and Mali-T628 MP6 graphics with support for OpenGL 3.0. The RAM in the device is as much as 3 GB, the built-in memory can be 32 or 64 GB, which can be expanded with microSD cards for another 64 GB.

In the AnTuTu test, the Note 3 scored more than 34 thousand points, and in general, according to the test results, it turned out to be faster not only Note II, but also the Galaxy S4.

The performance gain over the previous version of the smartphone is very impressive, especially when it comes to 3D graphics. The powerful platform and large amount of RAM (2.66 GB is available to the user after switching on), allowed Samsung to improve multitasking. Let me remind you that in the case of Note, it is not only the ability to keep programs running in the background, but also to place two applications on one screen at the same time. In Note 3, this functionality has been expanded, now you can not only view two windows at the same time, but also copy information from one window to another by simply dragging and dropping.

For example, you can drag images from your browser to S Note. This copying function works, unfortunately, not in all third-party applications, for example, dragging a link from Evernote to the Chrome browser will not work. But in programs from Samsung, everything works almost perfectly. Without full support from third-party applications, this functionality is rather limited, although the idea itself is interesting. Samsung only has to convince the developers to support the new features of the Note 3.

Display

Over the past few years, Samsung has developed an interesting tradition of using a larger display in every new flagship smartphone. After the release of Note II with a 5.5-inch screen, it would seem that the border of comfortable use has been reached, there is nowhere to enlarge it further. Nevertheless, Samsung engineers were able to prove the opposite.

The Note 3 uses a 5.68-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a density of 386 dpi. The matrix is based on the PenTile subpixel arrangement, which is clearly visible, especially if you greatly enlarge the image of the font, it gives off green at the edges.

But in practice, with a screen resolution of Full HD and above, the difference between PenTile and RGB is only from a technical point of view, and includes such parameters as power consumption, life cycle and production cost. Otherwise, the eyesight of the average person cannot tell the difference. Of course, there are exceptions, but this is more a rarity than a rule.

The Note 3's display fades in the sun, but remains readable.

The viewing angles of the matrix are excellent. The Galaxy Note 3's screen leaves a pleasant impression, it is moderately bright and with excellent image clarity. The only thing that I would like to see in it is warmer colors, which can often be found in IPS matrices.

Camera

The Galaxy Note 3 has a 13-megapixel camera with BSI sensor, F2.2 aperture, autofocus and LED flash. According to its characteristics, it repeats the photo module in the Galaxy S4 and takes, in general, photos of comparable quality. As in other Samsung smartphones, the detail of the pictures depends on the lighting, the better it is, the better the photos will be.

The color reproduction of the camera is not ideal, this is especially clearly seen in the example of the sky shots, the colors look much more colorful than they really are. Otherwise, the Note 3's camera is one of the best in a smartphone.

Software

One of the features of the Galaxy Note line has always been its extensive software suite. Samsung has gone a little further with the Note 3.

Smartphone shoppers will find some nice perks in the form of the full SketchBook drawing app, 50GB of Dropbox storage, and a 1-year premium subscription to Evernote. The latter service, by the way, plays an important role in the new Note, the program for notes S Note is now integrated with it, which I will discuss in more detail below. In general, judging by the Note 3, Samsung, apparently, decided to gradually establish partnerships with popular Internet services. After all, another My Magazine program built into the smartphone, which is called up by moving a finger, from the bottom of the screen to the center, right from the desktop, is built on the basis of Flipboard.

In fact, Samsung has made its own interface for this news reader application and imports content from it. At the same time, the Flipboard program itself is installed in the Note 3 out of the box. This tactic is very interesting Samsung, but it all depends on what other partners the company will be able to attract. Note is running Android 4.3 with a proprietary TouchWiz interface, there are no major changes in the shell, you can read its full review.

Note 3 vs notepad

The smartphone received the name "Note" not because it is musical, in the context of the device's capabilities we are talking about its ability to record and store information.

In this regard, the Note 3 has succeeded more than its predecessors, having received a new pen and the S Note program. I'll start with the pen. In design, it has become more in line with the appearance of the Note 3, but at the same time its design has not essentially changed.

The pen is still hiding in the body of the smartphone and is equipped with a mechanical key.

The Note 3's stylus experience has undergone major changes, though.

After removing it from the case, a new menu appears on the smartphone screen, which includes five icons, we will disassemble each one separately: Action Memo are quick handwritten notes that for some reason have nothing to do with S Note and are stored in a separate application.

Scrapbook is a very useful program that allows you to cut images from web pages and save them along with links.

Onscreen Writing - Takes a screenshot of the current display and allows you to write handwritten notes over it.

S Finder is a new search in smartphone content from Samsung.

Pen window - allows you to draw a rectangle of almost any size on any screen and open a widget in it, for example, a calculator. This is done in order to start a new one on top of the current application without leaving the current application. The idea is interesting, but there are very few programs available in this mode.

The S Note app is the key to the Galaxy Note concept, allowing you to create and store handwritten and text notes. At the same time, the user receives a wide range of tools in order to write down important information for himself or just draw. After all, the Note 3 pen understands the pressure level.

As for S Note, you can add an unlimited number of notebooks to the program, and create separate sheets of paper inside. Everything is almost the same as when working with a real notebook.

Inside the sheets, you can write, draw, add diagrams or already prepared sketches of drawings. In addition, images saved from a scrapbook can be inserted into your recordings. Considering that S Note can now save notes to Evernote, this is a very good solution for those who want to switch from a real notebook to a digital one. Of course, Note 3 will not be able to imitate paper, but it does not need it, the device copes with most notebook tasks quite well.

Health

Despite the fact that the Galaxy Note 3 is not at all positioned as a device for sports, Samsung has not forgotten about the health of its users. The Note 3 has expanded support for ANT-compatible accessories, allowing a range of heart rate monitors and electronic scales to be directly connected to the device.

All this is realized through the S Health program. She also knows how to turn a smartphone into a pedometer, a log of nutrition, exercise, and using a temperature and humidity sensor to determine how comfortable the environment is.

As a result, S Health acts as a single center through which the user can monitor their health. In this version of the program, it became possible to store your data on Samsung servers and synchronize between different Galaxy. However, this function is optional, and the entrance to S Health itself can generally be password protected.

Music

Out of the box, the Note 3 can play MP3, AAC / AAC + / eAAC +, WMA, AMR-NB / WB, Vorbis, FLAC and WAV. Moreover, the last two formats can be reproduced in Hi-Fi quality 24 bit / 192 kHz.

The smartphone sounds really good, if the standard sound seems to be small, it can be adjusted using the equalizer or preset modes. Among them are such interesting ones as imitation of a tube amplifier and 7.1-channel sound.

The Adapt Sound function has also not gone anywhere and allows you to customize the sound of the headphones to suit your hearing.

Video

The Galaxy Note 3's built-in video player supports H.264, MPEG-4, H.263, VC-1, WMV7, WMV8, Sorenson Spark, MP43, VP8, HEVC, AVI, and MKV.

The smartphone has no problems with reproducing the AVI and MKV formats popular in our country. Watching video on the Note 3's screen is very good.

Autonomy

The Galaxy Note 3 has a 3200mAh battery, which is a slight change from the Note II which uses a 3100mAh battery. Despite the fact that the Exynos Octa 5420 processor is more energy efficient than the previous version, the Note 3's autonomy has not increased against the background of its predecessor. The Full HD display has taken its toll, so the new smartphone demonstrates good, but not outstanding autonomy.

In my case, in the medium load mode, the battery lasted about 17 hours, but with very active use up to 30%, it was discharged in 9.5 hours. Good, but as I wrote, not an outstanding result.

The Note 3 is charged via the microUSB 3.0 connector, thanks to which charging is faster. Thanks to backward compatibility, you can also charge your smartphone via a regular microUSB.

Eventually

The Galaxy Note 3 smartphone can be safely called a worthy continuation of the line. It's nice that Samsung stopped enlarging the display, just for the sake of the size itself, and started thinking about usability. It is also good news that the company has taken a more thoughtful approach to the selection of software, as well as scenarios for using the pen. Of course, she still has something to work on here, but this is a good start. The Note 3 itself, despite some flaws in ergonomics, will be an excellent choice for those who are looking for a smartphone with a large diagonal with the maximum functionality at the moment.

Determining the type of device (phone or smartphone?) Is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to opt for a telephone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly shorter than that of a simple phone.

Good day, our dear regular readers! After a half-year break in our reviews, it is time to analyze all the novelties in the world of Samsung gadgets and conduct a detailed review of them. Probably the most significant event that has happened recently was the release of the new flagship from Samsung - Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The review of this gadget will be the subject of my given publication, which opens a new season of reviews of devices from Samsung.

Surely you have already seen a lot of video reviews in different languages of this gadget, but we will review the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in Russian, describing all the most interesting things that others practically do not talk about. Since we have already talked about video reviews, it is worth noting that they have become somewhat boring and monotonous: if this is due to boring models of Samsung gadgets, if interest has disappeared, but I am full of energy, after a hot summer and will scout this model with curiosity.

As you know, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which I dubbed the "shovel" in the last post. Well, no matter how tolerant and correct I would be, but this nickname, which is spun in everyone's word, is itself involuntarily pronounced. Will we see something new in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or will there be an upgrade of the "classic model" as always !? I myself already want to know about this, so let's start reviewing the gadget.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Unboxing

Holding the box with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in my hand, I already suspect that it will be a "giant" again. A few words should be said about the box itself, it, as in the new established trend of Samsung, is made of environmentally friendly materials, even from recyclable materials, that is, recycled household waste. It's somehow difficult to think and talk about environmental friendliness when this environmentally friendly packaging was made several hundred kilometers from Fokushima ... No, well, this is undoubtedly good intentions to be welcomed, but the flagship packaging is not made like that, to be honest, it reminds me of a toilet paper, even "iPhone for the Poor" is put in a beautiful box. Well, okay, we see the box only during the post-purchase period and until we remove the device from there.

So, we open our "eco" package and here ... - "Shovel!" I have the same second reaction to the next model Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Looking ahead, I will say that I do not see any innovations on the front, but the back cover surprised me very much, but more on that later, first I will tell you about the gadget's configuration.

EquipmentSamsungGalaxyNote 3

Under the phone in the box there is an instruction, also made of the same paper as the packaging. There are a lot of instructions, just in case, I guess. The package contains headphones with a 3.5 jack and a set of spare earpads for them. The package also includes a DATA cable with a new connector and a charger. We should also mention the innovation: stylus refills. That's all: in principle, the necessary set for comfortable work with the device is included.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 design

There is no particular difference in the front, or rather, there is no difference at all, both with the second version of Note, and with other brothers. The phone is made of plastic, which is carefully made up every time. The side edging of the smartphone is made, as always, under the metal, but again, it is plastic. As it was said above, there is an innovation in the rear panel of the phone, it is made under the skin, but it is again the same plastic, although it is quite pleasant to the touch. As the authors of this innovation admitted - they tried to emphasize the similarity of the gadget with a notebook, whether it is or not - each user will determine for himself. Nevertheless, I liked the cover, it is pleasant to the touch, and most importantly, most likely, it will not scratch - this is a significant advantage.

This back panel comes in three colors: black, white and pink. On the left, on the side panel, is the volume rocker, on the right is the power button. At the bottom of the device there is a DATA-cable connector, as well as a microphone and speaker. A stylus called the S Pen is also inserted from the bottom. There is a 3.5 headphone jack on top, as well as a microphone hole and an infrared port. The back cover houses the camera and flash. The speaker, sensors and camera are located on the top in front, and 3 standard keys of Samsung gadgets at the bottom.

In general, the design, although not particularly new, is nevertheless pleasant. The gadget sits comfortably in the hand, despite its large size, but its control is a separate topic.

General impressions of the device

Despite the large size of the device, the gadget is good enough. The large and high-quality screen fascinates, as always, the animation and Android features, as always, fascinate. Nevertheless, it is somewhat inconvenient to work with the device, holding it with one hand, especially in order to quickly answer a call - you need to accustom yourself to transfer it to your hand.

It is worth noting the convenience of working with the stylus, the response is very good, it is especially convenient to draw with it. The stylus will also be comfortable for those with thumbs.

The performance of the gadget is, of course, fantastic: there was not a single slowdown when playing HD movies and the latest powerful games. It is very convenient to play and watch movies on a smartphone, again because of the large screen, as well as because of the high resolution and high-quality color reproduction.

To summarize, I want to speak positively about the innovation of Sumsung and recommend it to everyone who wants it! Until next time!

In the wake of the commercial success of the smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 expanded the Note line with a new model in 2013. The Note 3 belongs to the "phablet" - an intermediate class of devices between smartphones and tablets, thanks to its large display, but the familiar name "smartphone" is also widely used in relation to it.

The first thing that a user notices when he first picks up this smartphone in addition to its large screen is the small thickness of the case. Just 8.3 millimeters will contain a high-tech electronic filling. Compared to the previous model, the new device has reduced its weight by 12 grams, its weight is 168g. Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which is reviewed here, was made in a white plastic case with a back cover also in white with a leather-like texture. There is information about the release of smartphones with back covers of other colors. The device is equipped with an S-Pen.

Performance and software

The hardware complex Note 3 LTE version is built on the basis of the Span Dragon 800 Quad Core processor with a clock frequency of 2.3 GHz. The 3G version has its own Exynos processor. The amount of RAM is 3Gb, but some of it is invariably reserved for system processes.

The device supports the Android 4.3 JB platform with the manufacturer's proprietary TouchWiz interface. Other pre-installed apps and gadgets also include stylus software:

  • AirCommand - allows you to control the device using the stylus without direct contact with the screen surface and call up a small menu for five commands;
  • Actionmemo - working with handwritten text;
  • ScreenWrite - allows you to write directly on a screenshot of the screen;
  • Scrapbook - copies and saves the image from the area of the screen outlined with the stylus.

A Samsung Galaxy Note 3 review would be incomplete without mentioning the pre-installed software manufacturer Knox. This is an extension of the Android operating system designed to enhance the integration and security management of a mobile device.

Screen

In Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the characteristics of the screen differ from the previous model only in area. It's the same high-definition SUPERAMOLED display.

Camera

Traditionally, there are two cameras, the front one and the main one located on the back of the case. The main camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels, it allows you to record video in 1080p at up to 60 frames per second. The camera is equipped with an automatic image stabilization system and has a built-in BSI sensor. Taking pictures in low light conditions is possible with the built-in flash. The front camera is the same as in the previous model.

Battery

The smartphone uses a 3,200 mAh Li-ion compact rechargeable battery. The rate at which the battery is depleted is directly proportional to the number of applications running at the same time and data transmissions turned on. To conserve battery power for a long time, the manufacturer recommends using the power-saving mode.

Conclusion

You shouldn't believe some of the manufacturer's announcements of incredibly high processor performance. A group of independent experts found that the processor (SnapDragon800) artificially began to overclock when tested with some test programs, which does not mean that the performance is as high in normal mode.
