Galaxy gee 5 prime review. Review of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime with an excellent case. Information about the dimensions and weight of the device, presented in different units of measurement. Used materials, suggested colors, certificates

In terms of the saturation of the model range, Samsung can be considered the leader in the same way as in terms of sales. Despite the fact that the company's image is created by premium devices like the Galaxy S7, it also has something to show in the low-cost handset segment. One of the latest devices of this level was the Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime, announced in September and released in October 2016. You can buy it now for about $200.

Despite the fact that the device bears the name J5, this is not just an improved version of its predecessor, but a slightly different device. Screen, materials, chipset are the main differences between the models. Other features of the Samsung J5 Prime, its pros and cons, will help determine our review of this smartphone.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the J5 Prime is an intermediate smartphone from the J series. We wrote about the 2017 J5, which was introduced later.

In terms of features, the Galaxy J5 Prime is a device located on the border of the budget and mid-price segment.

Design, body materials, dimensions and weight

The smartphone is significantly different in appearance from the simple J5 2016: it is made of a different material, has a smaller size, and looks more expensive than its predecessor. Galaxy J5 Prime dimensions are 141x69 mm, thickness - 8.1 mm, and it weighs 143 grams. These are more than typical dimensions for a 5-inch device. Traditionally for Samsung, there are no complaints about the assembly: the parts fit exactly, there are no gaps, squeaks and backlashes.

The front panel of the smartphone is made of glass with rounded edges, which is new for the budget J-series. The rounding is good, it makes the appearance of the device more interesting than its predecessor. Tactile sensations are increased. Below the display is the familiar oval Home key, on the sides of it are the touch buttons for backtracking and the menu of running applications, they are not backlit. Above the display is a speaker grid, a camera, an LED indicator and a proximity sensor eye.

The back panel is made of metal, but at the bottom and top there are plastic inserts that mask the antennas. The camera lens is inscribed in an almost square window, to the right of it is a flash window, the same in shape, but smaller in size. There is nothing else (except for the Samsung and Duos logos) on the back of the smartphone.

The side frame has no distinct borders and smoothly blends into the rear panel (or the rear panel blends into the frame - here's how to look). The layout of the elements is not quite ordinary, but this is Samsung, it is not the first time. The power / lock button takes its place on the right, but above it, instead of a volume control swing, there is a slot for the speaker.

The left side is quite loaded with elements: there are 2 sound buttons, and separate slots for SIM cards and flash drives. There is nothing on the top of the device.

And the bottom end is occupied by the MicroUSB port and holes for the microphone, headphone jack.

CPU

The Samsung J5 Prime is the first smartphone based on the new Exynos 7570 chipset. This chip, created using a 14 nm manufacturing process, contains 4 Cortex A53 cores with a frequency of 1.43 GHz. Mali T720 is responsible for graphics processing. Such a tandem of the CPU and GPU for 2016 is quite budgetary, and does not cause delight. However, for basic tasks its power is enough.

What pleases in the new chip is the processor cores: although there are 4 of them, there is no particular difference with some eight-core MT6750 or MT6753. With graphics, everything is ambiguous, the possibilities in terms of 3D processing are the minimum acceptable for 2016. Of course, it will be possible to play, but you can not dream of high settings. And the AnTuTu chipset gives out 35 thousand points, and only about 3 thousand of them are graphics merit (for comparison, Adreno 506 is gaining 12 thousand, and Mali T860 MP2 - 7 thousand).

Memory

The amount of RAM Samsung J5 Prime is 2 GB, it is recruited by LPDDR3 chips. At the start of the system, the OS consumes about 1 GB, which is typical for modern devices. There is enough memory to hold multiple tasks without worrying about crashes.

Built-in memory 16 GB, of which about 9 are available. The slot for a flash drive pleases - it is separate. If last year we attributed the combined slot to the minuses, now it is perceived as something ordinary, but a separate slot seems to be a plus. Support for USB OTG drives is also pleasing.

Battery

The battery capacity is 2400 mAh, which is 700 mAh less than the J5 2016. However, thanks to the energy-efficient processor, there is no reason to blame the smartphone for autonomy. If you play videos from memory, you can count on 10 hours of work, about the same amount you can surf the Internet. With two hours of active screen per day, you can count on 3 days. This is a good performance, comparable to Xiaomi Redmi 3 equipped with a 4100 mAh battery.

cameras

The smartphone has a 1/3" camera with a resolution of 13 MP, apparently the same as the J5 and J7 2016. It is equipped with f / 1.9 optics and LED flash. In daylight, the smartphone takes good pictures, with a good level of detail, a wide (albeit not maximum) dynamic range, natural colors.Indoors, too, everything is decent (better than Xiaomi Redmi Note 3).The camera only gives out in the evening, in the twilight it does not stand out with anything good.

A 5 MP camera is installed in front, its aperture is f / 2.2 (the J5 had f / 1.9). The second deterioration is the front flash: for the first time in the J5 series, it is not. But both cameras are able to shoot video of tolerable quality in FullHD resolution, with a frame rate of 30 FPS. Selfie camera:

Camera overview:

Screen

The display of the Samsung J5 Prime is a mixed bag. It has a size of 5 inches, a resolution of 1280x720 and is quite standard in this regard. It is interesting that the matrix was created using the technology not AMOLED or IPS, but PLS. This is a compromise, intermediate solution between IPS and TN.

Picture quality is comparable to cheap IPS panels, and better than good TN. For a smartphone of this price category, the matrix is quite good (IPS does not look better in Doogee and Oukitel), and it also has a good margin of brightness (slightly over 400 cd/m2). The display is covered with Gorilla Glass of an unknown generation (probably third), with rounded edges and medium-quality oleophobic coating.

Communications

The smartphone is equipped with two nanoSIM slots, they are independent. All GSM and UMTS/HSPA networks are supported, there are no problems with LTE either. The built-in modem complies with the LTE Cat. 4. Wi-Fi works in 802.11 b/g/n networks. It is a pity that 5 GHz frequencies are not supported. The navigator works with GPS and GLONASS satellites, and it works smartly. The device does not have an infrared port, NFC and other features of more expensive smartphones.

Sensors

The Samsung J5 Prime is equipped with a fingerprint scanner, a first for the J-series. However, the smartphone was clearly deprived of other sensors, and this is a typical Samsung problem. The device has a proximity sensor, accelerometer and orientation sensor. The smartphone has no compass, no gyroscope, no magnetometer. Yes, what is there: even the banal light sensor of the Samsung J5 Prime was cheated.

Sound

The speaker of the smartphone is located unusually, on the left side face. This solution is quite successful, since the hand does not close it. The sound is moderately loud, not creaky, in general, typical for a normal smartphone. You can listen to music in headphones without fear that your ears will wilt: there are basses, the top does not lift up. The device is equipped with an FM radio.

Operating system

The Galaxy J5 Prime runs Android 6 with the proprietary TouchWiz GUI. In comparison with the flagships, some of the shell's capabilities are cut down. Nevertheless, this is still the same Samsung, with a familiar look, a redesigned curtain and support for interchangeable themes. The system works properly, no obvious glitches were found in it.

Peculiarities

For the J-series, the smartphone has become innovative in many ways: a fingerprint scanner and a metal case have appeared. An important advantage in the form of a separate slot remained in place. But the rejection of the front flash (chips of this line) will upset selfie lovers a little.

Pros and cons

  • good design and materials;
  • excellent energy optimization;
  • fast processor cores;
  • good camera;
  • fingerprint scanner;
  • separate microSD slot.

Flaws:

  • no light sensor and auto brightness control;
  • no support for Wi-Fi 5 GHz;
  • weak graphics.

Who is a smartphone for?

Samsung J5 Prime will suit fans of this manufacturer who are looking for an inexpensive and compact smartphone with good autonomy. If the numbers in the characteristics fade into the background, and you need a workhorse, the device will fit perfectly. A nice case makes the smartphone attractive in appearance, which expands the audience. The camera is also noteworthy, for lovers of a quick photo it will be enough.

Our review of the J5 Prime

The Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime is not the successor to the J5 (2016), but is a good alternative to it. The hero of the review has economical hardware, shows good autonomy and has an attractive appearance. It is equipped with a fingerprint scanner, which is a plus, and also takes good pictures. The only downside is the lack of a light sensor and a weak graphics processor.

The competitor of Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime is Xiaomi Mi 3S. It compares favorably with the price, more powerful hardware, 3/32 GB of memory, similar indicators of autonomy, but is inferior in terms of the camera and has a combined second SIM / flash drive slot. Roughly the same can be said about the Meizu M3S. Sony Xperia E5 has about the same camera, screen, but does not have such decent autonomy. In general, the device is quite adequate for its money, given the branded origin.

Review of affordable and high-quality smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

In November of this year, the first rumors about the upcoming release of the new generation Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime leaked to the network. Now, Reuters is ready to pamper us with the official specifications of the device, the presentation of which is scheduled for the end of December 2017.

The device will be built on the Exynos 7570 processor and the Mali-T720 graphics accelerator. The camera suite is also promising. And now about everything in more detail.

MAIN FEATURES OF THE SMARTPHONE

4

First: platform Samsung Exynos 7570 and 3 GB of RAM;

Second: 13 MP main camera and 8 MP front camera;

Third: fingerprint scanner;

Fourth: Android 7.1.1.

Display

Preliminary rumors about a 4.8-inch screen, fortunately, did not come true. The user will have at his disposal a 5-inch panel with a resolution of 1280x720, built on a SuperAMOLED matrix of his own production. This automatically guarantees the most saturated picture, excellent color gamut and deep black under any viewing angle.

The brightness is declared at a level of at least 370 cd / m2, the "outdoor" mode is also supported, increasing the figure up to 450 "candela" for a while.

Performance

We decided to take the Samsung Exynos 7570 proprietary platform as a basis, operating with four cores with a frequency of up to 1.4 GHz. A controversial decision, and even 2016, and even the entry level. However, the processor is based on the 14nm process technology, which means a 70% increase in performance and a 30% improvement in energy efficiency compared to 28nm counterparts.

The chip is equipped with an LTE Cat.4 modem (download speeds up to 150 Mbps), an FM receiver, an improved ISP for cameras, and a Mali-T720 graphics core. In tandem with 3 GB of RAM, the SoC should perform very well. The base version will offer 2 GB of RAM respectively.

The 16 GB storage is underwhelming, but it can be expanded with microSD drives up to 128 GB. An option is also provided for 32 GB of high-speed flash-memory.

But the 2500 mAh battery is far from the best solution. We are already used to the fact that all Galaxy J smartphones are very tenacious.

The whole system will work on the brand new Android version 7.1.1. What shell will be used on top of the OS is not known.

Camera

Information about modules for 12 and 7 megapixels was also not confirmed. The smartphone will receive cameras at 13 megapixels (basic) and 8 megapixels, respectively. Both have the ability to shoot video in FullHD resolution at 30 fps. The base sensor is equipped with auto focus and touch focus. Additionally, face recognition is listed, but there is no HDR.

The front camera is wide-angle and provides a great group selfie shot. Good light sensitivity, traditional for Samsung, will get rid of noise even in low light indoors and outdoors.

Conclusion

Before us is an entry-level smartphone of the upcoming 2018. They promise to present it in December of this year paired with the Galaxy J2 Pro. At the same time, information on the cost and timing of the first official deliveries to Russia will be known.

The Galaxy J5 Prime is practically no different in design from its counterparts in the model family, but the device has a certain zest. It's definitely worth waiting for, because we have an excellent candidate for the role of a business phone for long conversations and quick communication.

Minuses

1) Camera 2) None: light sensor, button illumination, NFC

Review

Great phone for your money. I really liked the design, the metal case gives the phone an amazing look and high cost, it lies perfectly in the hand and causes pleasant tactile sensations. The phone is very fast compared to the old Samsung galaxy s3, in general, the speed is 5+, but the camera, although 13, is well compared to the same S3, which has 8 worse. The display, although not Super AMOLED, turned out to be excellent, the color transmission is high, the colors are saturated and bright, the viewing angles are high. Of course, there is not enough light sensor, well, setting the brightness to the maximum, even with the bright sun on the street, the display is completely readable. Excellent oleophobic coating hardly leaves fingerprints. It is a pity that there is no NFC without which it is impossible to use Samsung Pay. The speaker is now on the side, due to which it is in your pocket and when it just lies on the table it is not obscured. The sound is quite loud and clear both in the external speaker and in the conversational one, sometimes you even have to turn down the volume during a conversation so that it would not be heard by those standing nearby. Uncritical, but at first it was not convenient because the buttons do not have a backlight, then I got used to it. Finally, a full-fledged SIM card slot does not have to choose between a second SIM and a memory card. The average battery is enough for a day of active use. The fingerprint is smart, though sometimes it does not work the first time. In general, the phone is completely satisfied with the price and quality is fully consistent with 100%. I also want to say a few words about the store itself, I ordered it via the Internet by paying with a Mastercard card and received a nice bonus in the form of a 5% discount, and not only after I picked up the phone, but by the way, it was ready in an hour, after I took it, a promo code came in half an hour for 500 rubles. and plus almost 2500 points on the card with which I can pay up to 100% of the purchase. I also really liked the service itself, the sales consultants were polite and competent and explained all the nuances of how to use the bonuses and the promotional code for which I purchased the case.

Budget devices of the Samsung Galaxy J line rarely fall into our field of vision - they have little interesting compared to their older brothers and they are bought primarily because of the brand. But there are exceptions to every rule, and today we will get acquainted with one of them. The J5 Prime is a compact device with a cute design, but the smartphone offers more than just a pretty wrapper.

Samsung J5 Prime can make a good impression at first sight, you don't even have to pick it up. A little unusual, but it was decided to make its case mainly from metal, and the front panel is decorated with glass with rounded edges. We've seen this before, but it's new to the Galaxy J line. The borders of the off screen blend into the black bezel, which also adds to the overall look.

The second nice feature is the relatively compact size. The screen bezels are certainly not minimal, but the display itself is 5-inch, and the corners of the case are slightly rounded, so the J5 Prime feels small in the palm of your hand - you can easily handle it with one hand.

The smartphone is available in two body colors - dark blue and gold. We got the first option. The front panel looks as concise as possible, only the designations of the touch keys, the speaker grille, and the indicator of missed events stand out on it.

The "back" looks interesting, the color of the plastic inserts on top and bottom corresponds to the metal cover and looks better than the banal black, although the camera design resembles the company's old push-button phones.

There are no complaints about the assembly, everything is adjusted as accurately as possible, and the control scheme and arrangement of elements will be familiar to any user of Samsung smartphones.

There are three keys under the screen: two side touch keys without illumination and a central mechanical one. With it, you can turn on the backlight of the screen, answer a call, double-click to start the camera. You quickly get used to this and start to regret that such options are available in the minimum number of other smartphones.

In addition, the mechanical key boasts a built-in fingerprint scanner. It allows you to save up to three fingerprints, works quickly, but does not always recognize your finger the first time - in expensive Samsung, the sensor works better.

MicroUSB and 3.5mm connectors are on the bottom. Nearby is the only microphone. On the right, you can find the power key, and separate volume buttons are placed on the left side. They are a little higher than we would like.

Under them there are two whole trays. The main NanoSIM is installed in the upper one, and the second SIM card (also Nano format) and a memory card are installed in the lower one. Such a wealth of slots will certainly be appreciated by those who are used to using both two SIMs and a memory card, because hybrid slots are increasingly used in new smartphones.

The only speaker is above the power button on the right. The unusual location of the speaker turned out to be quite successful - compared to placing it on the bottom edge or on the back, it is less often blocked by hands while watching videos and games, while notification signals are clearly audible from pockets.

Screen

Samsung started to install their own Super AMOLED displays even in inexpensive smartphones, but in J5 Prime they decided to use a PLS matrix. You can think about the reasons for making such a decision and some oddity, but it's hard to find fault with the quality of the display itself.

Diagonal 5 inches, resolution 1280 by 720 pixels. The brightness varies from 3 to 332 cd / m², the measured contrast is 1 to 743. There is an additional “outdoor” mode, which is activated directly from the notification panel - in it the brightness increases to a maximum of 402 cd / m². The device does not have an automatic brightness adjustment sensor - you have to adjust it manually.

The screen is not perfectly calibrated, but generally good, so the color reproduction is natural. There is no air gap, there is a nominal oleophobic coating, plus do not forget about glass with a 2.5D effect.

Therefore, in real life, the screen leaves a positive impression - it has a calm and pleasant smooth picture, good readability in the sun (on a cloudy autumn day, you can not activate the “outdoors” mode). Of course, you can find fault with the lack of proprietary AMOLED and color mode settings, or resolution, but I personally lacked only the auto-brightness sensor - it's a habit, especially since they work adequately in normal devices and there is the possibility of additional adjustment.

Hardware platform and performance

Galaxy J5 Prime is built on the basis of the new SoC Exynos 7570, made in compliance with the 14 nm process technology. The platform includes 4 Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.4GHz and Mali-T720 graphics. The smartphone has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of permanent memory, the volume of which can be expanded using a separate microSD slot.

In terms of performance, you should not expect outstanding results, the processor does not set any records in benchmarks, but the speed is enough to talk about comfortable use in everyday tasks. Launching applications and switching between them, Chrome, YouTube - all this works not lightning fast, but fast enough not to cause irritation.

With games, the situation is average, a lot will depend on optimization, because the platform is new. Now there are no problems with casual toys, but more complex ones are average. For example, with Need for Speed: No Limits everything is fine, but Asphalt 8 comes with slowdowns, the control does not work very clearly.

Working hours

The built-in battery has a modest capacity of 2400 mAh, but thanks to the updated hardware platform, the J5 Prime lasts much longer than expected. In a synthetic test, we managed to get a result in almost 10 hours. In real use, the smartphone worked for a day and a half, showing 8 hours of active screen.

The usage scheme was standard - synchronization of two Google accounts, social networks, correspondence in instant messengers, watching videos (local and YouTube), accessing the Internet via Wi-Fi and 3G. The result is good, and if you use your smartphone less actively, you can count on two days of work.

Multimedia and calls

The scheme of operation of two SIMs is standard, there were no complaints about the quality of mobile signal reception during testing. The situation is similar with the volume of the speakers and the only microphone - none of the interlocutors complained, everyone heard each other well.

The quality of music playback is comparable to other inexpensive smartphones - the sound is clear, the volume is normal.

shell

The smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 with TouchWiz shell. It supports themes, installation of fonts from the built-in store, and has an average number of pre-installed applications.

Separately, we can note the relatively restrained design of the interface and a convenient dialer and calendar.

cameras

The J5 Prime offers a 13MP f/1.9 main camera and a 5MP f/2.2 front camera. The maximum video shooting resolution is 1920 by 1080 pixels (for both cameras).

In addition to the usual automatic mode, the camera has panorama, burst, HDR, night, and sports modes. Pro mode lets you adjust white balance, ISO, exposure compensation, and how exposure is metered, without manual focusing.

The main camera as a whole pleased - during the day it allows you to take pictures with natural color reproduction and good detail, the frames look good both on the smartphone screen and on the PC. Along with the deterioration of shooting conditions, the quality decreases linearly - focusing takes noticeably longer, sometimes autofocus misses and some photos are not sharp. Therefore, indoors or in the evening, it is better to take several shots and choose the best one, try to shoot static objects.

The cameras of even some more expensive devices behave in a similar way, so there is nothing criminal in this.

With the front camera, the situation is similar - it shoots well during the day and mediocre indoors. Wide-angle optics are used, it is possible to correct skin tone, facial contours.

Positioning

The J line has always belonged to budget solutions, it went under the A-series from Samsung. In order to highlight models that are simplified versions of the A-series, they added the Prime prefix, that is, the J5 Prime is a simplified version of the older device. Simplification refers to the removal of the SuperAMOLED screen and replacing it with a typical TFT in this price segment, although there is a PLS TFT matrix, which is very good for this price group. Of course, other characteristics were also cut down a bit - screen resolution, battery capacity, and support for dual-band Wi-Fi was removed. But they kept the fingerprint sensor, the metal case and at the same time received a very competitive price in the region of 15,000 rubles. For comparison, the 2016 A5 costs from 22 thousand rubles, although it looks more interesting in its filling, but it also costs more.

With J5 Prime, Samsung engineers tried to create a balanced solution for the mass consumer, who focuses on Chinese phones under $200 and does not really think about what exactly he needs. Generally, people in this price segment want a fingerprint sensor, a metal body, a bright screen, dual SIM, and a decent camera. All this is present in the J5 Prime, but this is a model from the A-brand with all the ensuing pluses.

I can't help but note that the lines at Samsung appeared as a response to the confusion with model numbers and their positioning. For a while it became easier, but now everything repeats again, so this device is safely confused with the usual J5, which is not worth doing. It has a bigger battery, a SuperAMOLED screen but no fingerprint sensor, and a plastic body with a different aesthetic. And this is at full price equality.

The J5 Prime is worth checking out for anyone who is looking for a simple phone for everyday use, without much camera demands, but with a fairly long battery life and a well-made body. The device will be of interest to everyone who is not looking for the very best technologies, but wants to get a reliable smartphone for a reasonable price.

Design, dimensions, controls

The model is available in several colors, in Russia you can find a device in black, as well as golden. In black, the back is rather dark gray, with a tint.

Dimensions - 142.8x69.5x8.1 mm, weight - 143 grams, the dimensions are comfortable, the phone fits easily in the hand of any person and in the pocket. On the front panel, to the right of the speaker, there is a missed events LED, it is quite bright, blue. On the other side of the speaker grill is the front camera.

The glass is rounded on the sides, 2.5D-effect, in the hands due to this the phone is perceived better. The speaker output was made on the right side, it is the only one here. Not the loudest, but not quiet either, you can almost always hear it, including from clothes. Just below the speaker hole is the on / off key, while the volume buttons are moved to the left side surface. There are also two slots for nanoSIM cards and microSD cards. Separately, I note that you can install two SIM-cards and also microSD, that is, the slot is not combined, as in older models. But the radio module, of course, is one.

At the bottom there is a 3.5 mm jack, microUSB, and a microphone. Since the solution is simple, there is only one microphone here, and not like in older models, two or three.

The design of the device turned out to be very good, on the one hand, it is a typical Samsung, on the other hand, it is somewhat reminiscent of the Chinese that copy the iPhone. That is, there is no direct replica of the iPhone, but it reminds me of the countless Chinese models that it was created to compete with.

A fingerprint sensor is inscribed in the central mechanical key. Unlike A5, it works a little slower, there are false recognitions, but this does not happen often. The budgetary status of this device is manifested in what components were used here.

Display

The usual J5 has a SuperAMOLED screen, but here we decided to experiment and installed PLS TFT - for its class, this is a very high-quality screen, but SuperAMOLED wins in almost everything. Screen resolution - 720x1080 pixels (294 ppi), protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 4 (version 3 in some markets), with 2.5D effect.

Of the minuses, I note the lack of a light sensor, a penny story, but then they decided to save money. For several weeks with this device, I did not need to change the backlight, I switched on the “Outdoor” mode a couple of times, the screen brightness increases to the maximum for 15 minutes, and it becomes readable even under bright sun. But still, the light sensor is necessary, it has long been a good form for all smartphones, and the fact that they got rid of it here is not very encouraging.

My impressions of the screen are positive, in its class it gives a very good picture, it is bright, clear, and there are no complaints when watching movies. For this level of devices, this is one of the best screens, its quality is above average.

Battery

In this device, the battery capacity is 2400 mAh (Li-Pol), which can be considered not the most record-breaking size, in the same A5 (6) there is a 2900 mAh battery. Of the minuses, I note the lack of fast charging, I'm so used to this feature that two hours of charging this device has always seemed to me a very slow process. You get used to good things quickly.

The claimed video playback time is up to 12 hours, we managed to play HD video at maximum brightness for a little less than 11 hours (data transfer was turned on).

In practice, the device works for a day with 2.5-3 hours of screen and a large amount of data transfer (up to 1 GB), and with moderate use, it works quietly for 2 days. If you just leave the phone online and use it from time to time for calls, then it will work for 5-6 days.

There is a power-saving mode, when the screen backlight, processor frequency are limited, in this mode, many will not experience problems with the operation of the device, but the operating time will increase by at least 20 percent. In the maximum power saving mode, everything on the screen is painted in gray colors, and the device, even with a small charge, can provide hours of operation.

Memory, RAM, performance

The model has a quad-core Exynos 7570, in synthetic tests this processor proved to be typical for devices of this level. It does not have any flaws with the speed of work in the interface and standard applications, although loading “heavy” applications takes longer, and the graphics in them are not of the highest quality, and the frame rate also sags.

Built-in memory in the device is 16 GB (10.7 GB available to the user), but there is also support for memory cards up to 256 GB.

2 GB of RAM, it is enough for all tasks. Despite the fact that many devices get 3, 4, and some even 6 GB of memory, this does not matter for most tasks. Given the positioning of this device, 2 GB of memory is enough for the eyes, none of the users will experience difficulties.

Communication options

Everything is pretty typical, USB version 2, 802.11 b/g/n.

Camera

The front camera does not have autofocus, but it has a resolution of 5 megapixels, which is not bad, it is photosensitive (f / 2.2).

The main camera is 13-megapixel, it is identical to the one in the A5(6), it produces good picture quality, as you can see for yourself. The main improvement over the previous season is that even in the dark, the pictures are pretty good. There are a number of modes that are missing on the flagships, there is no HDR mode for full resolution (only for 8 megapixels). But, in general, the camera has grown head and shoulders in comparison with the previous generation and will satisfy even the most demanding user.

Software

The model is running Android 6.0.1, there is no point in describing the standard functions, you can read a separate review.

Unlike top models, there is a built-in FM radio, which looks like a nice bonus.

It will be possible to download applications such as S Health, children's mode and others from the Samsung App Store to this device, even if they are not preinstalled initially.

When using KNOX, you can install any program in duplicate, for example, install two WhatsApp messengers on one device and use them for each SIM card (two numbers, two messengers). You can even chat with yourself. Exactly the same trick can be done with any software, no phone allows you to simultaneously work with two instant messengers on the same device with different numbers, this is a unique feature from Samsung.

Impression

There are no problems with the quality of communication, the interlocutor hears you perfectly, however, just like you interlocutor. The vibrating alert feels good, but it all depends on your habits, it trembles like a small demon.

At a cost of 15,000 rubles, this model looks like a cheaper version of the 2016 A5, let me remind you that almost all the characteristics are better, but the cameras are the same. If you have money, you should buy A5, it is more interesting and works a little longer, and most importantly, there is fast charging. In this aspect, it is definitely worth overpaying, as you will win a lot and, most importantly, save your nerves.

There are a lot of Chinese in the same price segment, I will only remember some models: Xiaomi Redmi 3S 2GB/16GB, Meizu M3s Mini, Wileyfox Swift 2+.

There are many such devices on the market, as a rule, they cost about 12-13 thousand rubles, that is, their price is lower than the cost of Samsung, and the characteristics are the same or slightly better. Therefore, the choice becomes not so simple, here it is necessary to evaluate which of the characteristics is more important, how much the brand plays a role. The choice is huge, and therefore describing and comparing each device with the J5 Prime is an occupation doomed from the outset. But I did give you some direction to think about. For ordinary users who do not require something unusual from the phone, J5 Prime turned out to be very successful. The first sales prove it, the device is popular in federal retail.
