Limiter (latch) for opening the front door: characteristics and installation procedure. Fasteners for doors. Assistance in choosing the type and functionality Magnetic door lock in open position

The ZE door hold-open device is designed to hold the door open at any opening angle. Retention is ensured by the departure of the crossbar to the required distance from the lower edge of the door to the floor level. The crossbar is always in a state of tension due to the action of the spring.

Clamps are available in five versions: bolt outlet is 25, 60, 75, 90, 160 mm. A latch with a 160 mm outlet can hold the door with a maximum distance from the bottom edge of the door to the floor level. However, the dimensions of this retainer are the same as the retainer with a 90 mm bolt outlet. Thanks to the use of an integrated spring in the heel of the bolt, the door remains firmly fixed even on uneven and polished floors.

All metal parts of the retainer are made of either aluminum or stainless steel, including internal parts. The pushbutton of the 25, 60, 75 and 90 mm models is made of rubber, while the 160 mm model is made of metal. The open position lock is ideal for use outdoors and in wet areas. The uniform design of the body and internal parts makes the ZE door lock a very reliable and durable device.

The standard version of the open position lock is painted with silver enamel. Other designs are available on request.

Mounting:

When choosing the required model for installation on the door, you need to make sure that the crossbar reaches the floor. The open position lock ZE is installed on the door leaf at the maximum possible distance from the hinges (near the very edge of the door leaf). The tip of the bolt must be flush with the bottom edge of the door.

Fixing the door in the desired position is very simple; it is necessary to press with your foot on the upper stop of the crossbar of models with a reach of 25, 60, 75 and 90 mm, or on the metal ledge of the latch with a reach of 160 mm. The internal spring of the device will firmly fix the door in the open position.

To unlock the door, press the metal tab located under the upper stop. The piston will automatically release the spring to its original position, and the door can move freely.

In addition to the well-known and familiar elements of door fittings such as locks, hinges and handles, latches are used for interior and entrance doors, which allow you to fix the door leaf and limit its movement. The lock for the door is installed in order to ensure safety during the operation of the doors. Installation of such an accessory is not difficult, and the device itself is inexpensive.

What are locking mechanisms for?

Clamps for doors, or as they are also called - limiters, make it possible to ensure that the doors do not open beyond a certain position, they are fixed at one point. As a rule, the mechanism makes it possible to fix two positions - fully open, or slightly ajar.

When the door is fixed, there is no possibility to open it from the outside, while the lock is not used, that is, the door formally remains open. Another advantage of the latch is that you can set a certain angle for opening the door. This prevents it from hitting the wall.

Thus, limiters can be divided depending on the functions they perform:

  • Mechanisms used to stop the door from opening fully (stoppers);
  • Devices that prevent doors from closing (floor holders). Such latches are suitable for doors if it is necessary to limit closing from children;
  • Devices that perform the functions of a door lock (latches);
  • Universal mechanisms that perform both a restrictive and holding role (magnetic latch for an entrance or interior door).

Where are door stops and latches used?

Devices of this type can be used everywhere, in any room where there are doors. Often these devices are used in offices, restaurants, apartments, country houses, hospitals and schools.

Demand for fixatives is consistently high, based on the great need for them among consumers. Statistics show that the number of devices sold is steadily growing every year. Customers of building stores are attracted by their price and functionality.

Types of door stops

Fasteners can be of various types and extremely diverse. On the market there are devices for doors that are either mounted in them or fixed on the sash. Such devices allow the door to close gently, without unnecessary noise, absorbing the force of impact. The advantages are the impossibility of pinching fingers, and vice versa, the ability to ventilate the premises through the gap remaining between the door and the box.

If there are animals in the house, the door latch in the open position will allow them to freely climb through such a gap and move around the house.

Floor door holders, as their name suggests, are fixed to the floor, limiting the door's ability to come into contact with the wall. This is a very simple mechanism, at the same time performing a very important function - protecting property from premature damage.

In addition, the latch for opening an interior or front door can be equipped with a magnet. In this case, the door is securely fixed and does not open, while it does not require much effort to open it. There are other devices with the same functionality - wall-mounted. If you do not want to spoil an expensive floor covering, you can always use the wall-mounted version of the limiter.

Some limiters are attached on one side to the door leaf with self-tapping screws, and on the other, soft side, rest against the wall or floor. One of such limiters is STN 0960 door stopper. This is a Russian-made door stopper, which is installed on any types of doors, regardless of the material of manufacture.

This type of limiters and this device in particular is a very good way to protect property from damage. Imagine a situation - there is an expensive closet behind the door, guests come and, not knowing about its existence, open the door in a big way. The closet is naturally damaged, and the mood is indelibly spoiled.

With the help of a simple fixative, this situation can be avoided. In addition, such clamps are necessary in houses where plasterboard partitions are installed. Any draft can cause the door handle to break through the wall, which will also lead to sad consequences.

Another type of door lock latch - with adjustable opening angle. It allows the door to open at a certain angle, similar to the ventilation mechanism on plastic windows.

The latch can be attached directly to the door handle, eliminating the need for a lock. Such a door lock latch can be of three varieties.

First, the roller lock. Such a mechanism, when the door is closed, hides in a groove corresponding to its size and will not allow the door to open. It is worth pulling the door towards you and the roller easily leaves its “nest”, and the door opens.

Secondly, falium, the principle of operation of which is similar to the roller one, however, instead of the roller, a tongue is used that sinks into the groove and gets stuck in it, easily “released from captivity” when you press the door handle.

Thirdly, a magnetic latch for doors made of plastic or glass. The door is fixed on a magnet to a metal frame, however, with a little effort, the magnet “releases” it.

One of the common mechanisms is the usual latch, which, falling into the hole in the bracket, secures the door in the open position. Such a latch for the door can be easily made with your own hands.

Installing Limiters

The door lock latch, like the stopper, or the limiter, is easy enough to install on your own. To do this, you need a simple set of tools - a tape measure, a drill, a simple pencil, a screwdriver and self-tapping screws.

The procedure is simplified by the fact that the vast majority of clamps and limiters are already prepared for fastening, they have corresponding holes for self-tapping screws, it remains only to fix them by screwing them to the surface.

The door lock in the open position is very easy to install, it is necessary to carry out only a few steps. First of all, the place where the mechanism will be installed is determined. It should be borne in mind that, as a rule, there is a handle on the door, so you should not install the limiter directly to the wall, step back a little.

Then, with a pencil, the place for fastening is marked. Then holes are drilled with a drill for self-tapping screws, which are subsequently screwed into the locking mechanism. If everything is done correctly, the installation will not take much time or effort. The wall limiter is installed in exactly the same way and its installation does not cause problems.

Which mechanism to choose is up to the end user. A ball lock for an interior or front door, or a stopper on a magnet, and possibly a simpler device that is fixed with a latch.

Depending on the design in the apartment or house and the task at hand, the door lock latch is easy to choose by setting exactly the option that is needed. With the help of simple tools, such mechanisms are easily installed in any room and solve everyday everyday tasks of any person.

Proper installation, high-quality materials and an ergonomic handle are the basis for convenient use of the door. But for more comfortable and safe operation, it is necessary to equip the door leaf with additional devices. One of them is a latch, the main function of which is to lock the sash in the desired position.

Types of clamps

To correctly choose this type of accessory from a variety of models, you need to determine in which room and for what purpose it will be installed. The whole variety of door latches is usually divided according to several criteria:

  • purpose - to fix the door in a closed, open position or at a certain angle;
  • by location - floor, wall, door;
  • by design - with a rigid mount or mobile.

Applications

Door leaf stoppers are small and inexpensive, but very useful accessories. They are used in everyday life, public institutions and industrial premises. The main advantages and reasons for using a retainer:

  • ensures safe swinging of the sash, which prevents the doors themselves, pieces of furniture and walls from accidental damage;
  • fixes the door in a predetermined position in rooms with high traffic or, if necessary, carry large items;
  • prevents abrupt closing of the sash and its possible damage from a gust of wind or draft;
  • allows pets to move freely throughout the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe apartment or house;
  • allows you to leave children in the room unattended for a while.

Magnetic door stop

A wide category of clamps both in appearance and in the method of fastening and the principle of operation. It is useful to have them at home, as situations arise from time to time when you need to temporarily lock the door in the open position for carrying things or airing. In public areas with active attendance, such accessories are indispensable.

Another type of magnetic clamps

Floor (wall) clamps

Common and easy-to-install types of limiter. They are distinguished by ease of installation and use, low cost and long-term reliability. Such devices can be both stationary and portable:

The latch-stop is attached to the bottom of the sash and allows you to temporarily fix the canvas in the open or half-open position. Available in various colors, suitable for installation on wooden, aluminum, plastic doors for any purpose.

Closed position locks

Such types of limiters are installed to fix the sash in the closed position, they are used for interior and balcony doors in residential premises, entrance doors in public places and shops. There are several types of structures, each of which has its own characteristics and advantages.

Ball (roller)

Mounted on the end of the door leaf, when closing, the ball-tongue with a spring enters the hole of the reciprocal plate, fixed on the door frame at the same level, and securely fixes the door in the closed position. A fairly reliable and time-tested mechanism that can withstand many opening and closing cycles. The principle of operation and design of the roller stops are similar to the ball mechanism, but the shape of the tongue is more elongated.

Ball (roller) latches are not associated with the door handle - to open the sash, just press the canvas. Such mechanisms are convenient for equipping doors that need to be in the closed position most of the time, but can be easily opened when needed.

The installation of such a latch does not require the dismantling of the handle and the locking device of the door - this is an additional device, which is usually located a little higher or lower. It is necessary to observe the relative correspondence of the levels of the tongue and the hole on the mounting plate horizontally.

Falevye

They have a beveled tongue, which, when closed, also enters the corresponding slot of the metal striker installed on the door frame. To open the door, you need to turn the door handle - latch clips, unlike ball ones, are associated with it.

This type of latches is more reliable than ball (roller) ones - a strong gust of wind or a small child will not open such a door. When installing a latch on a balcony door, it is recommended to provide a double-sided rotary handle, otherwise it will be impossible to open such a sash from the balcony side.

original door holder

Among the many door accessories, the door latch occupies a special place - it serves for security. Moreover, it protects not only the door leaf itself, walls and furniture from damage caused by excessive plowing, but also prevents injuries that can be caused by a structure that has suddenly slammed shut from a draft.

There are many situations where it is necessary for the door to remain fixed in a given position or simply not be able to close or open completely. First of all, this is necessary when there are small children in the house. They can inadvertently pinch their fingers or be bruised by a door that has come into motion from a draft. To prevent this from happening, a stopper is installed on the door.

But sometimes the opposite is required - to fix the product in the closed position so that it cannot be opened from the outside. This is what door handles are for.

Floor clamps and restraints

There are different types of stoppers installed on the floor. Some of them hold the door leaf, others simply do not allow it to swing open enough to damage the wall decoration or the furniture behind the door. Among them, stationary and mobile products are distinguished.

Stationary include:

Mobile floor clamps are much more diverse:

  • The simplest stop in the open position is a regular wedge with a non-slip base., which can be made in the form of a toy, a cool figurine, etc. You could see an example of such a stopper in the picture at the beginning of the article.
  • Another type of floor stopper is put on the bottom end, and its non-slip feet rest on the floor on either side of it.

To open or close the door, just press the floor stopper with your foot, thereby releasing it from the groove. There are other configurations of such devices, but they all work on the same principle.

Wall brackets

According to their purpose, they can also be divided into limiters for opening and closing the door:

  • The first are small parts of various shapes and styles that are attached to the wall with screws and do not allow the structure to hit the wall. They can be simple and magnetic. Their installation is justified in the case when it is undesirable to spoil expensive parquet with floor stops, or if a “warm floor” is laid under the coating.
  • More functional are devices such as a stopper, which is attached to the upper casing. In the tilted position, it does not prevent the product from closing, but if you turn it 90 degrees down, it will create an obstacle to complete closing. You can be sure that even with a draft or children's pranks, there will always be a gap between the door and the box, which will not allow the baby to pinch his hand.

For reference. Do not be afraid that floor or wall stoppers will damage the finish of the door. They are made of soft materials or are equipped with a rubber pad at the point of contact with the door leaf.

Overdoor clamps

If you only need to keep children or pets safe from a slamming door, you can put a C-shaped stopper made of rubber, elastic plastic or other soft material on its top or side end.

If you need to hold the door leaf at the right angle, pay attention to the following device. It consists of a metal body and a brake pad.

To extend the brake shoe and fix the door from opening, it is necessary to press the pressure pedal with your foot. And to remove the fixation, it is enough to lift the brake shoe by pressing the lever.

Locking device latches

For interior doors

Locks are rarely installed, but if access to the room needs to be restricted, handles with a stopper are usually chosen (see). Such handles are equipped with a latch that holds the door in the closed position with the help of a tongue that enters the hole in the striker on the box. No less popular are magnetic latches.

But a latch without a stopper will not allow the structure to open only from drafts, but if it is required that outsiders do not enter the room, a latch with a latch is needed - a rotary button that locks the tongue in the closed position. It is installed on the doors of bathrooms, as well as other rooms with limited access.

Another thing is the entrance doors. They tend to slam shut at the most inopportune moment, for example, when you take out the trash (see). The door lock latch will prevent this from happening by holding the tongue inside the mechanism.
