The process of making a decorative box
Making the roof
Draw and cut out a circle on cardboard. The size depends on how large the mill you want to make. For a mill with a height of 19 cm, a circle with a diameter of 19 cm was suitable.
Make a straight cut from the edge to the center of the circle.
We connect the notched circle into a cone, glue it.
We paint the finished cone in a dark brown color, close to the color of coffee beans.
When the paint is dry, cover the cone with coffee beans.
Making the "walls" of the coffee mill
To do this, a suitable box must be wrapped with a rope, giving the walls a texture. The box of chips was very tall and I cut it about in half. An ordinary plastic bottle can also be used to create "walls".
Apply glue to the box and wrap the box tightly with rope.
We also decorate "walls" in some places with coffee beans, imitating masonry.
To make a coffee mill door, you can take any thin wooden slats or ice cream sticks, it is very convenient to use a bamboo napkin.
Cutting the threads, we dissolve the bamboo napkin.
We draw the shape of the future door on wooden slats.
We cut the door along the line and glue it onto the fabric.
We paint the door with dark brown paint, giving it the look of old wood
We braid a pigtail from thick threads and glue it to the door in two places. If necessary, cover them with paint and varnish.
We make a small ring from a thin wire using round-nose pliers or tweezers.
We glue the ring to the door, imitating the handle.
The finished door must be glued to the mill.
Making the blades of the coffee mill
For the blades, you can use thin slats or wooden skewers. We connect them crosswise and fix with glue.
We strengthen the blades with small, suitable in size, slats.
We paint the slats in dark brown to imitate old wood. The middle can be decorated with coffee beans. Then we varnish the blades.
Using glue, we fix the blades on the roof.
Making bags of coffee
For sewing bags, it is best to take a coarse cloth or burlap.
Sew a small cut on the sides and turn it inside out.
Tuck the edges and fix with a thread, tighten the thread a little so that the edges of the bag are gathered.
You can put a piece of paper, cotton wool or cloth at the bottom of the bag, and glue coffee beans on top. The bag itself is also decorated with coffee beans and varnished.
Making the foundation
Cut out a circle from fiberboard or thick cardboard, on which we will put the mill.
On a circle we try on a mill, bags and mark with a pencil where the objects will be located.
We make a small fence from coffee beans. We fix the grains with glue.
We cover the area free from objects with a cloth imitating grass. We glue.
Glue the mill to the base. If desired, fix the bags with the same glue. Decorate the edges of the circle with coffee beans.
You can put a can of coffee inside - you get an original gift. If desired, the roof can be glued to make the mill a decorative coffee figurine.

The structure is made of wood. To build a windmill, you need to prepare a tool:
- Pencils, markers, pens, markers, compasses;
- Ruler or square (for drawing right angles);
- Roulette or meter;
- Screwdriver or screwdriver;

- A hammer.

Important! It is necessary to stock up on wood, bars and slats in a slightly larger volume than calculated for manufacturing, since there is a possibility of spoiling or breaking one of the parts.
Manufacturing steps
The mill is a fairly simple structure, everyone can cope with its construction. The easiest way is to make a base, a frame with a roof, axles, sail, blades and assemble all the parts together.
Part marking
Step 1. First of all, draw sketch layout of a windmill and determine the type of building, its dimensions.
Step 2. Using the drawings, we calculate the dimensions of all parts (they must be in harmony with each other).
Step 3. We select the material from which our mill will be made. The optimal tree for work is considered pine (it is affordable, cheap, soft and easy to process).
Step 4. Base.
First, we mark 4 squares (side length 25 cm) with lined crosses inside. At the midpoint of the crosses we do hole.
Then we draw 4 equal blocks for the sides. If even walls are needed, then the parts are cut from whole pieces of wood (35 x 54 cm).
They will add decorativeness trapezoidal walls, which consist of 6 parts attached to each other (each part is 2 cm smaller than the previous one, starting from 35 cm and ending with 25 cm).
Step 5. Frame.
To assemble the frame you will need bars cross section 40 x 40 mm (54 cm - 8 pcs., 38 cm - 8 pcs., 36 cm - 4 pcs.) And 30 x 30 mm (54 cm - 4 pcs., 10 cm - 4 pcs.).
Roof for the mill.
For markup we use pattern: draw a straight line 38 cm long.
We retreat 19 cm (exactly half) on it and draw a straight line 30 cm long.Along the side seam triangle has a length of 35.5 cm.
We mark 10 pieces from the lining for the roof slopes using this pattern (5 pieces for each).
Step 7. Blade propeller.
We draw from pieces 45 x 15 mm blade propeller parts: 1 piece - 91 cm, 2 pieces - 45.5 cm; 4 pieces - 8 cm, 17 cm, 26 cm; 20 pieces - 19 cm.

Advice! Use glass and flint abrasives for sanding wood. Corundum and other dark-colored skins generate dust of the same color, which contaminates the wood.
Impregnation of wooden parts
Special impregnation compositions for wood (Aquatex, Pinotext, Belinka, Senezh and others) will allow you not to worry about the safety of your mill.
Antiseptics reliably and for a long time protect wooden parts from precipitation, fungi, mold, algae and insect pests.
Impregnation of wood with special antiseptic compounds is carried out in 2-3 doses with complete drying of each layer.
Attention! Some antiseptics can be toxic and must be handled with care.
After processing and drying the parts, you can start assembling:
- Side parts we fasten together with slats. The prefabricated walls should first be screwed to the rail to create a single structure, and then to the rail to fasten the walls to each other. This will further strengthen the walls and make the building more stable.
- Base we collect from two squares with a drilled middle. You can also put together a square box of four planks and fasten it with slats. The base is fastened to the mill body using self-tapping screws, which are screwed in with internal sides in slats.
- For roofs first we knock together the bars of the end on the pattern (2 triangles with a base of 38 cm and sides of 35.5 cm). The bars are sawn and fastened to each other with self-tapping screws. Next, fasten plywood or lining to the triangles from the outside and inside. The roof slopes consist of 10 parts (5 pieces on each side). Projection - 1 cm.Decorate the top of the roof with a beautiful skate.
- Frame turntables we make from wooden slats (on a long rail, on both sides, smaller slats are screwed on) or metal pipes. Short strips (in the form of a brush) are screwed onto the ends of the blades, with a step of 2-3 cm.
Two circles are screwed onto self-tapping screws in the center of the blade cross. In the middle of the circles we drill holes for the studs, and at the end of the frame (at the level of the blades) - a hole for the bearing. With a hammer we drive the bearings into the holes (in the end) and insert the spire. We tighten the structure with a nut, having previously put washers on the spire. We fasten all parts together with nuts. - We finish assembling the mill by putting the roof on the body and fixing it with self-tapping screws.

Frame
1. Let's start by building the frame of the mill. To do this, you will need 6 identical boards, which will need to be shaped like an elongated trapezoid, as shown in the figure. It is important that the side edges of the boards are cut at a 45 degree angle. Thus, a cone-shaped ditch is formed at the junction, which will later be filled with glue.
2. Further, with the help of construction tape (tape), it is necessary to connect all six elements together: fastening should take place from the side where the boards are connected tightly to one another, without forming a moat. Please note that the tape must have a good layer of strong adhesive in order to firmly adhere to the tree.
3. To make the decorative mill with your own hands not only beautiful, but also withstand the influence of bad weather, by turning the boards connected with tape to the other side, fill all five seams with construction glue using a pistol, for example.
4. Then fasten the first and last planks of the structure first with glue on the inside, then with tape on the outside. The hexagonal frame blank is ready.
5. After joining all the seams, the remaining glue will come out, so when the glue dries, it will need to be removed with a construction knife. You also need to remove the adhesive tape.
6. Cut out a hexagonal cover for the top cover of the mill to fit to the inside of the glue.

Lower part of the structure
8. To make the bottom of the structure, you will need to cut out two more hexagons of the appropriate size.
9. Next, you will need to cut a small 7x7 cm square in one of them (lower), to which a bar will later be attached, which will serve as the basis for the entire structure. In the second (top), simply drill a hole in the center through which the bar will be attached with a screw.
10. Now, in order for the lower part of the structure to resemble a certain box, you need to make walls for it. To do this, cut 6 parts of the same shape, the sides of which should be the same as those of the frame - cut at an angle. Use photographic materials for accurate cutting.
11. Using glue, screws and a drill, attach the walls to their bases (to two hexagonal blanks), and at the junctions of each of the six wall elements, stick tape for a while; use a vise if necessary.
12. Into the lower workpiece with a 7x7 hole, insert a bar with sides of the same size, and resting it on the upper workpiece, fix it using a screw.
13. Tape the frame to the bottom on each of the six sides. Now we have a design that resembles a lantern on a leg.
14. Use a sander to smooth the structure.
Base
15. Now, the bottom. It has three levels. Its lower part, consisting of 6 boards forming a hexagon (it must be done according to the same principle as the walls of the previous design) must have a capacity for the already installed bar of the previous design. To do this, you need to make a square box and attach it exactly in the middle of the board with screws. The board with the box should be attached to the pre-prepared hexagon. Follow the photo so that the garden mill is made correctly with your own hands.
16. The middle part is also a hexagonal cut pyramid, the sides of which are connected in the same way as in the manufacture of the frame of the mill - glue and scotch tape.
17. The upper part has a slightly more complex structure, so when making it follow the instructions in the pictures.
18. Connect all the parts with construction glue by placing a bucket of water on top of the board, which acts as a press.
Observation deck
19. Now the painstaking work begins. Prepare the base to which you will temporarily attach the "viewing platform" using double-sided tape. You need to cut 30 squares to form 5 hexagons. Every six bars should be shorter than the previous ones, as they should form a "web". You will also need to make 6 blocks of complex shape with holes, which are attached with glue to each of the 6 corner joints of the "web". When the glue is dry, carefully remove the unfinished structure from the temporary base.
20. Now you need to cut out 6 more simple-shaped bars and attach them with screws to the outside of the complex-shaped bars.
21. Using glue, attach a “railing” of three planks to these blocks on each side.
22. Turning the structure over, install it on the upper part of the base and fix it with screws, connecting the inner sides of the irregularly shaped bars with the base.
Top of the mill
23. The top of the mill is made of polystyrene and consists of a hemisphere, as well as a base plate and a ring made of wood.
24. Make 4 holes each on the ring and the base plate for the screws.
Internal mechanism
25. Now we need to make a structure for the blades of the mill.
As you may have noticed, a decorative windmill for a summer cottage is not an easy project, but it is worth the effort and time.
So, you need to make two flat wooden squares with holes inside, as shown in the photo, and drill holes in the right places.
Now, for two parts, you need to make a base from three pieces of boards (on the outer ones you need to drill two holes) and fasten them with glue, setting them in a vice.
And then place it on a solid base.
Note that it should also have 4 screw holes.
The final step in making the base for the internal structure of the mill is to install a support cut at an angle to make the structure look like a slide.
26. Now you can install the tops of the squares with the hole using the screws. But don't fasten them too tightly.
28. In the hemisphere, you need to make a hole through which the rod could rotate freely. But in order to choose the right place for it, take the support panel, put a wooden ring on it and set the "gun" inside to the wall (to the ring). Putting the half-ball at the same height as the height of the support panel and the ring, on the side where the rod is higher, mark the place where the rod and the half-ball meet and make a hole in it.
29. Now you need to glue the ring to the hemisphere, rewinding the resulting "helmet" with tape for strength, for a while.
30. It's time to install the support panel (use a screw to attach it in the center to the top cover of the frame), the "gun" in the middle and the "helmet", after removing the tape from it, when the glue dries, so that the rod comes out through the prepared for it a hole in the hemisphere.
