The sequence of soldering polypropylene pipes. How to properly solder polypropylene pipes: recommendations from professionals. What polypropylene products to choose

Having at hand the instructions and special tools that carry out wiring, cutting and fixing, you can carry out the installation work of the plumbing system with your own hands. Since it is very easy to solder polypropylene pipes at home, the process does not take much time and effort.

Basic principles of technology

The most important rule to remember is that polypropylene tends to lose its quality when overheated. Despite all the positive qualities of this material, it does not tolerate thermal effects very well. The diffusion temperature of plastic molecules of this type is 140 degrees. Overheating may cause the connection to become thinner.

Photo - fittings and other connectors for polypropylene

That is why polypropylene connections are not recommended for heating, where the work process is carried out at a temperature of more than 120 degrees. If there are no other options, then use reinforced materials that are more resistant to high temperatures.

Soldering rules:

  1. Experts note that when connecting fittings and polypropylene communications at home, you need to use a temperature of 95 degrees, while pipes reinforced with fiberglass can be welded at 100-120 degrees;
  2. When working with a diameter of up to 63 mm (most often found in cold water supply systems), electrofusion welding must be used;
  3. Strictly adhere to the allotted exposure time. If you exceed it for more than 2 seconds, then the plastic may melt and the pipe simply will not enter the fitting. We'll have to cut it off;
  4. The duration and temperature of the soldering process is selected based on the diameter and wall thickness of the plastic.

A special table will help you to choose the right temperature at which you can solder polypropylene:

These figures are approximate and may vary depending on the type of material and working tool. In this case, they are given for a soldering iron with a power of 1800 watts. This is not a professional tool, therefore, for more high-tech equipment, the time parameters are selected reduced.

Soldering without a soldering iron

Before starting the workflow, it is necessary to prepare the connection site. The required section of the pipeline is cut and cleaned. The most convenient way to do this is to use abrasive paper or medium-hard sandpaper. After the cut is rubbed with alcohol for degreasing and left for a couple of minutes to dry.

It is very important to keep the cut straight. The angle should be either 90 degrees or 45, depending on the type of soldering (in a sleeve or with a soldering iron). Let's consider both options.

Step-by-step instructions on how to solder polypropylene sewer pipes with a diameter of up to 63 without a soldering iron (coupling):

Soldering instructions

But when working with large-diameter communications or polypropylene pipes that need to be soldered in hard-to-reach places, you cannot do without a soldering iron. Here it is important not only to prepare the segments for processing, but also to choose the right tool. Soldering devices are divided into:

  1. Professional (with power from 2000 W). They are rarely used at home, mainly due to their high power. They need to be wielded pretty quickly, so for novice plumbers this is not the best option;
  2. Household (with power up to 1800 W). A more common option for soldering guns. These are sold in plumbing stores and companies selling polypropylene and other plastic pipes.

How to solder polypropylene pipes with a soldering iron:

After that, you just need to cool the mount according to the time according to the table and remove the pipe from the nozzle. It is very important to immediately clean the nozzle of liquid plastic using wooden spatulas or spoons, otherwise its operation will be impossible in the future.

Tips for properly soldering polypropylene pipes:

  1. Be sure to warm up the soldering iron to full readiness before use, otherwise it will not be possible to clearly calculate the operating time;
  2. You can cook polypropylene only in the warm season. Any work with plastic at sub-zero temperatures is strictly prohibited;
  3. When cooling, the deformation of the joints or their twisting must not be allowed, otherwise the tightness will be broken;
  4. Also, we must not forget about security measures. When working with plastic, you need to wear a protective mask and gloves, you cannot work in ordinary clothes - if polypropylene particles get on it, it can melt.

When water communications are assembled, consisting of plastic pipes, the temperature becomes the most important parameter. It should have certain values to achieve a strong and reliable connection.

Today, the technology of laying pipelines from such materials prescribes compliance with a certain temperature regime, as well as specific time values, when performing welding. If the recommended parameters are not observed, a rupture may appear at the nodal points, and the movement of the water flow will deteriorate significantly.

The technological process of welding polypropylene pipes is based on heating the material to the required temperature. As a result, the plastic begins to soften. When the parts are connected, the diffusion of polypropylene molecules occurs. In other words, molecules merge into a compound. When the material cools down, an extremely strong butt joint is formed.

The strength of the workpieces being welded directly depends on the temperature regime. With insufficient heating, the diffusion process will not occur. The molecules of the fitting and the pipe being welded simply cannot get into the matching areas. The welding will turn out to be weak and will not be able to withstand heavy loads. The pair will break, the tightness of the joint will be broken.

When overheated, the structure will begin to deform. As a result, the original geometry will change. A strong bead in the form of a large bead may occur inside the part. As a result, at the point of welding, the diameter of the pipeline section will be significantly reduced.

For normal soldering of polypropylene pipes, it is necessary to create heating up to a temperature of 255-265 degrees. The heating process must take into account several parameters:

  • Part diameter.
  • Room temperature.
  • Heating time.

Practice has shown that heating time and part diameter are in direct proportion.

The temperature of the room in which the soldering takes place also influences this process. When parts are soldered, when they are removed from the "iron" or other heating device, there is a pause before the start of coupling. To compensate for cooling at low temperatures, the PP pipes must be heated a little longer. This extra time is within 2-3 seconds. The selection is done empirically.

It must be remembered that if you heat polypropylene pipes on a heating device with a temperature setting of more than 270 degrees, a very strong heating of the upper layer of the part will occur. The core will not get enough heat. When joining parts, the thickness of the welding film will be very thin.

How to weld polypropylene pipes by hand

The welding sleeves of the device are selected taking into account the diameter of the parts. Then they are inserted into the welding mirror and secured well.

The contact surfaces are cleaned of dust and dirt. For cleaning, it is best to use the cleaning liquid recommended by the manufacturer of this product. This work can help:

  • Chlorethylene.
  • Trichlorethane.
  • Ethyl or Isopropyl alcohol.

A certain temperature of the device is set. Typically, the thermistor should heat up within 250 - 270 degrees. This optimum temperature allows the correct connection to be achieved.

When the required thermal level is reached on the thermostat, the heating temperature of the welding mirror is checked. For this, a special thermal probe is used.

The pipe is cut, maintaining 90 degrees, relative to the axis. If necessary, clean and chamfer the surface. Stripping parameters, chamfer depth dimension are taken from table number one. The chamfer can be removed when cleaning the part or after it, with a special calibrated tool.

Socket weld polypropylene fittings. Stripping depth and chamfer width.

The insertion depth "L1" is marked on the pipe surface Taken from table 2. The stripping must always correspond to the value of the insertion depth.

Insertion Depth L1 (mm): Maximum insertion depth of the heated pipe into the fitting bowl.

A longitudinal mark is applied to the outer surface of the pipe and the fitting to be welded. It makes it possible to avoid displacement of parts during connection.

The surface of the pipe, as well as the applied fitting, must be well cleaned of oil or dirt. After reaching the required heating of the welding mirror, the pipe, together with the fitting, is installed in special sleeves. Fittings should be inserted all the way, pipe to be welded to full stripping depth. It is necessary to wait a little while the parts heat up.

Then they are quickly removed and inserted into each other. The insertion depth of the fitting must be equal to the length L1, in accordance with the longitudinal notches.

The connected parts must be held in a fixed position for a certain time, according to table No. 3. Then you need to give time to cool naturally. Do not cool them with a fan or immerse them in cold water.

When the surface of the elements has cooled sufficiently, it is necessary to carry out a hydraulic test.

Changes in pressure and temperature during butt welding are shown in the figure below:

The nuances of holding the desired thermal regime

When calculating the future pipeline diagram, consider how further installation will take place. It is necessary to strive to obtain a minimum distance between the soldering machine and the junction.

If the calculation is made incorrectly, and the welding place is in an inaccessible place, it is necessary to warm up the part at a considerable distance from the attachment point. In this case, large heat losses occur, since it is necessary to deal with the transfer of parts in order to complete the sleeve joint. As a result of such unaccounted points, there is a strong weakening of the seam.

If an erroneous calculation of the sequence of installation, soldering is made, a situation may arise when it will be unrealistic to dock the last parts, since the heating device is simply impossible to install between the parts. To increase the gap, it is necessary to deform certain sections of the pipelines, allowing the insertion of a soldering device. Such work can ruin the appearance of communication. Static voltage may occur in some areas of the system.

A very gross mistake, as a result of which it is not possible to control the temperature, is the sequential heating of the blanks immediately before the joint. In other words, each part is heated separately. As a result, the temperature regime is completely violated.

This inappropriate approach can cause severe cooling of the part due to the elapsed time required to warm up. Deliberate heat loss occurs. Such a technique of joining parts does not allow to correctly build the work and the process of material softening becomes unpredictable. It is strictly forbidden to use it.

To exercise proper control over the temperature regime, several criteria must be taken into account:

1. The quality of the welding machine for working with polypropylene products should allow maintaining certain parameters with a minimum error.

2. Between the welding machine and the connection area, there should be less than 1.5 meters.

3. The operation must be carried out in a heated building.

4. Before starting welding, make sure that the temperature of the parts to be joined is approximately the same.

Welding polypropylene pipes provides the fastest and most reliable connection compared to other types of plastic pipes. The connection process is the same for any PP pipes, except for reinforced ones, which have their own characteristics during installation. The simplicity and accessibility of this type of work allows you to carry out it yourself at home, subject to the correct welding technology and with the appropriate tools.

When installing polypropylene pipes, you can use one of three main types of connections:

  1. diffusion soldering;
  2. soldering with electro-fittings;
  3. cold welding.

Let us consider in more detail all three types of PP pipe connections: their features, main advantages and disadvantages.

In this article:

Diffusion welding with an electric soldering iron

With this method of connecting pipes, a variety of additional fittings and a special electric heating device (soldering iron) are used.

It comes with a set of detachable pairing attachments, the dimensions of which correspond to the outer diameters of the pipes and the inner diameters of the connecting elements.

Read about the most popular pipe diameter and other characteristics of polypropylene products.

A pair of nozzles is fixed on the thermo-heating element of the electric soldering iron and is heated with it up to a temperature of 260 ° С... Connecting parts are inserted into the heated nozzles for a few seconds. Due to this, there is a heating and partial melting of the surfaces of the polypropylene elements in contact with the nozzles.

After that, the pipe and the additional element are quickly removed from the nozzles and inserted into each other. As a result, there is an interpenetration (diffusion) of the molten surfaces of the parts.

After cooling, they form a completely monolithic connection.

The advantages of this method:

  • easy soldering process;
  • low cost of additional elements;
  • low cost of an electric soldering iron.

Flaws:

  • inconvenience of using an electrical appliance in hard-to-reach places.

Diffusion welding of polypropylene pipes is the most common with self-assembly at home.

Connecting pipes using electrical fittings

Electrofittings are various connecting elements of a special design, inside of which there are built-in electric heaters with external contacts.

During installation, the pipes are inserted and fixedly fixed in the electrofitting. A welding machine is connected to the external contacts of the electrofitting with the help of wires, which supplies it with power in a preset automatic mode for a certain time.

As a result of the operation of the built-in electric heater, the inner surface of the electrofitting is partially melted and the PP pipe is soldered to the connecting element.

The advantages of this method:

  • fast and technologically simple pipe welding process.

Flaw:

  • high cost of connecting fittings and a welding unit.

Soldering of polypropylene pipes with electrofitting is used by construction companies when performing large volumes of work. At home, this method is practically not used..

Cold welding of pipes is carried out using special glue... It has a special composition that softens the outer surfaces of the elements to be joined.

For this, the joints are pre-degreased, then a layer of glue is applied to them. After that, the parts are connected to each other, fixed in the desired position and held for a certain time.

Learned how to join pipes by cold welding not inferior in strength to diffusion thermal soldering.

Advantages:

  • simple technology that does not require the purchase of electric heating equipment.

Flaw:

  • this method of connecting polypropylene pipes can only be used for cold water supply systems.

How to properly solder polypropylene pipes

Considering that almost no one uses electrical fittings and cold welding at home, further instructions will be devoted to self-welding of polypropylene pipes using an electric soldering iron.

Tools and materials

For work you need to prepare:

  • special electric soldering iron with a set of nozzles of the corresponding diameter;
  • special roller cutter (pipe shears) or saw;
  • a file or sharp knife for deburring the ends of the pipes;
  • measuring tape or ruler;
  • marker or crayon for marking the parts to be connected;
  • mounting device for soldering pipes with a diameter of more than 40mm.

In addition to the PP pipes and fittings themselves, you will also need cotton rags and liquid to degrease the surfaces of the heating nozzles (acetone, alcohol, etc.).

Welding parameters and time table

To ensure the best connection quality, certain rules must be followed. The values of the parameters indicated in the table depend on the diameter of the products and the ambient temperature.

Pipe brazing temperature: 260 degrees.

Outside diameter, mmLanding depth, mmHeating time, sec.Fixation time, sec.Cooling time, min
16 12 5 4 2
20 14 6 4 2
25 16 7 4 3
32 18 8 6 4
40 20 12 6 4
50 23 18 6 4
63 26 24 8 6
75 28 30 10 8
90 30 40 11 8
110 33 50 12 8

The heating time of the connected parts indicated in the table is given for an ambient temperature of 20 ° C. At lower temperatures, the heating time must be slightly increased.

Step-by-step instruction

The do-it-yourself diffusion welding process is carried out in the following sequence:

  • Step 1

Pipe cutter

Using a tape measure, a marker and a special pipe cutter or saw, a piece of pipe of the required size is measured and cut off. Before that, it is advisable to make a test cut of the pipe to make sure that the tool is sharp.

The end chamfer is removed from the end of the pipe section and all burrs are removed.

With a pipe diameter of more than 40 mm, its end must be cut at an angle of 35-45 ° to prevent the formation of scoring during soldering. Then an element of connecting fittings of the required configuration is selected.

  • Step # 2

The connected parts are checked for any external defects. In this case, the pipe must fit tightly and to the end into the connecting element without backlash and distortions. With a large backlash, another additional element is selected.

The surfaces to be joined are treated with a degreasing liquid.

At the end of the pipe, a marker marks the depth of the entry into the connecting element, taking into account a gap of about 1 mm, necessary to prevent narrowing of the inner diameter of the pipe due to extrusion into its end edge during soldering.

The relative position of the parts in relation to each other is also noted.

  • Step # 3

The appropriate pair of heating nozzles of the required diameter, included in the set of the electric soldering iron, is selected.

Their surfaces are cleaned with a degreasing liquid using a rag and the free entry of fittings into them is checked without a large backlash.

  • Step # 4

The electric soldering iron is being prepared for work. To do this, the selected nozzles are fixed on its heating element, the soldering iron is installed on a stand and connected to the mains.

The required heating temperature must be set on the thermostat of the soldering iron.

  • Step # 5

We insert pipes into the soldering iron nozzles

After the soldering iron is heated to the desired temperature, as evidenced by its automatic shutdown by the thermostat, the polypropylene parts to be connected are inserted into the nozzles for a few seconds.

If the parts are difficult to fit into the nozzles, then their slight axial rotation is allowed. In this case, first, a connecting element is put on the inner nozzle, and then the end of the pipe is inserted into the outer nozzle.

After heating, they are removed in the reverse order. This is done because the connecting part has a large wall thickness and requires a longer heating.

  • Step # 6

Smoothly insert parts into each other

After the necessary heating, the parts are removed from the soldering iron nozzles and smoothly inserted into each other until the marks previously applied with a marker coincide. Axial rotation of parts relative to each other is not allowed in this case.

It is necessary to monitor the alignment of the resulting connection.

  • Step # 7

After joining, the parts must be held in a fixed position for a few seconds according to the above table of soldering parameters.

You can use the pipeline after 50-60 minutes after soldering.

In the event of any connection defects, this section of the pipe is cut off and a new soldering of the parts is carried out.

Brazing of reinforced pipes

Pipe edge trimmer

PP pipes, reinforced with an inner aluminum layer or fiberglass, have improved technical characteristics in terms of operating pressure and temperature, therefore they are most often used for heating and hot water systems.

When welding a pipe reinforced with an aluminum layer, before inserting it into the heating nozzle of the electric soldering iron, it is necessary to remove the outer polypropylene layer and the aluminum shell from the end of the pipe to the required length of the connection of the parts.

This is done using a special pipe cutter or a sharp knife.

For brazing glass fiber reinforced pipes, this operation is not necessary.

Video: how to solder reinforced polypropylene pipes

When choosing a heating system, it is necessary to take into account both the efficiency of heating the premises, and the current and planned costs of installation and further maintenance of the equipment system. Comparison for a private house.

On methods of adjusting the temperature of heating radiators.

They are so practical in use that they have almost occupied the entire niche in the share of sales, displacing traditional metal ones. This is primarily due to the characteristics of HDPE pipes.

In some countries with small-diameter pipes indoors, this is still the case.

But brazing reinforced polypropylene pipes is easy and cost effective.

Required tools

To solder polypropylene pipes with your own hands, you will need the so-called. These are special connecting elements, often in angular form.

They vary in shape.

They come from different materials, homogeneous or several, for example, metal with plastic. And they are used in different works:

But it must be borne in mind that the thread often flows, and soldering is a better connection. The thread is sometimes sealed with improvised means.

There are two types of scissors, depending on the diameter. Sometimes used shaver and beveller.

The welding machine is a structure with different holes.

In these holes with different diameters, special soldering nozzles are attached. The set includes a variety of specially coated attachments that require gentle care.

There are several types of devices designed for different powers. Accordingly, and for different diameters. The work temperature is regulated by a special switch.

Shaver is a special device for cleaning the reinforced layer from the surface of the ends.

Used for cleaning unnecessary plastic and leveling the surface.

Preliminary work

Before you start soldering, you need to make a preliminary project.

All joints and lengths of the segments should be visible in it, as well as the attachments to the surfaces. Such work will reduce the likelihood of errors.

Same calculate the required amount of material... If done by analogy with old systems, then they are measured.

Workpieces are made in advance - the required pipe lengths are cut. To do this, add 30 mm to the distance between the fittings. Then cut with special scissors exactly at 90 degrees. Then the fitting is attached, and the distance is noted. The longitudinal mark helps to connect the pipe elements along the axes.

When brazing reinforced pipes, they pass along the ends with a shaver to clean the surface. Fasteners are made with such a diameter that they will fit pipes only without the top layer.

How to solder polypropylene pipes.

  1. The device is taken out and turned on. It is important to prepare the place so that it is comfortable to work and nothing distracts. It must always be on.
  2. The ends of the pipes are degreased and cleaned of fine dust and debris. The connection elements can be rinsed with water.
  3. A nozzle suitable for the diameter is inserted into a special hole in the soldering iron.

  4. The required temperature is set. And the appliance heats up for about ten minutes. The indicator will inform about readiness.
  5. The element is slowly and carefully put on the nozzle.
  6. It is necessary to wait for heating. The larger the diameter, the longer you have to wait. The time is 4 to 10 seconds.

  7. Further, this element is quickly removed and put on the pipe. This is where longitudinal and transverse marks will help.
  8. The seam is examined. A quality seam is usually straight and neat. There should be no folds or wrinkles. Allowable shift is the thickness of one wall.
  9. After that, the pipes must be allowed to cool. You cannot bend them or.
  10. If something went wrong in the process, then the error can be corrected only by cutting out the wrong connection.
  11. When soldering the faucet, it must be positioned so that the handle can turn in all directions.

In fact, the soldering process is quite simple. In this case, the technology must be observed.

You can see how to solder polypropylene in the video. Work is best done with gloves.

Pipes are part of the everyday life of every home. Their versatility makes it possible to lay water supply systems not only in houses, apartments, but also in summer cottages.

The use of such elements for a heating system is also one of the most popular areas. In order for the work to be performed efficiently, you should study the rules and secrets of soldering polypropylene pipes. And it's worth starting by studying the characteristics and features of the material.

Types of PP products

There are several options available. You can distinguish them by the markings applied along the length of the product:

  1. PN-10. It is used for systems with a low pressure not exceeding 1 MPa and a temperature not exceeding 45 ° С. Alternatively, a water floor heating device.
  2. PN-16. The pressure in such a system should not exceed 1.6 MPa, and the temperature should not exceed 65 ° C. Used to supply cold water.
  3. PN-20. One of the most popular types. Used for hot and cold water supply. The pressure in such a system can be up to 2 MPa, the temperature is allowed up to 80 ° C.
  4. PN-25. It is used in heating systems. System pressure up to 2.5 MPa, temperature up to 95 ° C.

For private use, pipes with a diameter of 16 to 110 mm are used.

The color of the product does not affect individual characteristics. Most often, products are found in white. The exception is black pipes. They have additional UV protection.

Is it difficult to do it yourself? The instructions for work must be followed exactly, but otherwise the process is not complicated. For pipes, there is a whole list of fittings that should also be studied.

Advantages and disadvantages of PP products

Such systems have a decent list of advantages:

  1. Durability of the material. Service life up to 50 years. Achieved due to the absence of corrosive processes.
  2. Environmental friendliness. High-quality material is a guarantee of safety for human health.
  3. The ability to hide in boxes under the tiles. Achieved due to the durability and tightness of the system.
  4. Aesthetics. Even in open space, the pipes look neat.
  5. There is practically no plaque formation inside the system. Achieved due to the smooth inner surface.
  6. Ease of construction.
  7. Simplicity of installation work.
  8. Versatility due to the large number of connecting elements.
  9. Do not conduct current.
  10. This material makes the system less noisy.
  11. Does not freeze. Has a good

The disadvantages include the fact that low-quality material will come across.

Soldering varieties

There are two types of connection - butt and socket. The connection according to the first option may not withstand high pressures in the system. Therefore, the most popular and simplest way is to socket connection using fittings and a special welding machine. As his instruction shows, it must be carried out in strict accordance with the technology.

Then the quality of the system will meet all the requirements and will be able to serve up to 50 years.

Types of fittings and their features

These systems have a large list of fittings, which allows you to make wiring as efficiently as possible:

  1. Angled 45 ° and 90 °. With their help, you can turn the system from 45 ° to 135 °. They can be threaded or not.
  2. Adapters are double, triple, four-way. There are also threaded options in these options.
  3. Contours. Allow when brazing the system to bypass the intersection of pipes.
  4. Compensators. They look like a loop. They are installed to stabilize the pressure in the system. This significantly extends the service life of the pipeline. Can be assembled by hand using fittings, but it is cheaper to buy a ready-made version.
  5. Taps and valves. Shut-off elements used in the operation of the pipeline.
  6. Plugs. During repair work, for example, a bathroom, some of the pipes are muffled until the end of the tiling. This helps to avoid clogging before the installation of plumbing equipment and water leaks.
  7. Fasteners. Allows to fix pipes to surfaces.

Selection of pipes and fittings for them

First of all, you should draw a connection diagram for the correct calculation of the material.

Next, the connection characteristics are analyzed. As mentioned earlier, models PN 20 can be used for connecting cold and hot water, PN 25 for a heating system. Pipes are usually sold in lengths from 2 to 4 m, or in coils.

The soldering instruction says that the fittings are selected taking into account the required parameters and must match the outer diameter of the pipes.

Tool for work

The following list will be required:

  • welding machine for polypropylene pipes with nozzles;
  • roulette;
  • marker;
  • special cutter;
  • equipment stand;
  • carrying or extension cord;
  • protective gloves;
  • instruction.

Soldering should take place after reading the technical documentation for the equipment.

Welding machine for PP products

As a rule, such equipment is sold in a separate suitcase. The kit includes:

  1. Cutter for PP material. Sometimes you have to buy this tool separately, because the kit may contain a substandard one.
  2. Nozzles for different pipe diameters.
  3. The welding machine itself.
  4. Keys for installing attachments.
  5. Instruction. Soldering of polypropylene pipes, as well as equipment maintenance, must be in accordance with this technical documentation.

Instruction - preparation for work

To weld the system, the ambient temperature must be at least five degrees.

If it is outdoor work it is not allowed to solder in wet weather.

Place pipes and fittings so that they do not interfere with the work, but at the same time they must be in an easy and fast tolerance. Pull out the cutter and put it next to the material.

Take the welding machine out of the packaging. Select the required attachments. One should be a mandrel, the second sleeve. The first is used to warm up the inside of the fitting, the second is used for the outside of the pipe. Place on equipment and fix. Place the device on a stand. Connect to the network, set the required temperature mode (usually set to 260 ° C), turn it on. Make sure that the welding surface does not come into contact with anything.

As the instructions indicate, the soldering of polypropylene pipes should be carried out only after the device is fully heated. To do this, the equipment has backlit buttons and when it is fully warmed up, the indicator goes out.

Pipe brazing has several stages that allow you to achieve the perfect result:

  1. Cut the pipe to the required length. Make the cut even, not beveled. A cutter is used for this. It should be sharp and the blades shouldn't be loose.
  2. Remove burrs and plastic chips from the edges. Degrease the surface. If there is water inside, wipe it with a cloth. In any case, both the fitting and the cut pipe must be clean and dry. If a part reinforced with foil is to be used, the top layer must be removed. Otherwise, the soldering will not be possible.
  3. Try on the elements. Mark the pipe for a smooth connection to the fitting. Basically, this is an optional procedure. Depends on the experience of the welder.
  4. When polypropylene pipes are soldered, the instructions should already be studied, including the section on safety during work.

The welding process will be more convenient to do together, but you can do it alone.

To do this, remove from the stand and press the handle to the floor with your foot. A pipe and a fitting are put on both sides at the same time - each on its own nozzle. Movements should be with pressure, screwing in clearly parallel to the ground. It is done alternately half a turn towards yourself and away from yourself with each hand at the same time.

Having put it on until it stops, it is worth biding time according to the instructions. It will definitely contain a table with accurate data. Simultaneously remove both elements and insert into each other using a screwing motion with a pressure, again wait for the time according to the instructions. An influx should form at the junction. It will provide an airtight connection.

There are very complex transitions and connections. These are best soldered in parts.

Several separate structures are assembled and the connection is made on site. In such areas, you will probably need the help of another person.

As you can see, the process is simple - soldering polypropylene pipes. Instructions should be at hand. It will give complete information on the time of heating the pipe and soldering.

note

It is necessary to adhere to safety precautions when working. Avoid contact with hot elements during welding. Unplug the equipment after work and allow it to cool before removing it.

The main mistakes when welding, soldering polypropylene pipes

And now the system is ready. Crimping is done, and leakage at the joints. It seems that everything was done according to technology, but such a nuisance came out. What could be the problem:

  1. The pipes were not warm enough. As a result, the seam turned out to be leaky.
  2. Weak docking. When connecting the pipe and the fitting, a tight joint did not take place. Work must be carried out with pressure and inserted as far as it will go.
  3. Edges are not deburred. As a result, a gap may form.
  4. The fitting or pipe end was wet. Water will not adhere completely.
  5. Pipe and fitting from different manufacturers. Loose soldering may also occur due to differences in chemical constituents.

Or the opposite effect may turn out - the water does not go through the pipes.

This can form due to overheating of the system components. And inside, in the place of soldering, a solder formed, which does not allow water to pass through. Therefore, it is said that the technology of work must be fully observed when polypropylene pipes are soldered. Instructions for each welding machine are attached to their own and must be studied before starting work.
