Make flower shelves. Wall shelves for flowers. DIY garden and vegetable garden, flowers in the country

That happy day when you first brought the very first plant from your future rich collection to your home is long gone. And now dozens of flowering and decorative deciduous plants are placed on window sills, on bookshelves, on tables, in loggia niches or next to the walls of the balcony. Such a "green kingdom" looks, frankly, not at all aesthetically pleasing, and all sorts of diseases and pests instantly spread among the plants, which are closely adjacent to each other.

If you are thinking about the question of how to organize all this lush and blooming vegetation, how to make a cozy green corner without overloading the limited space of the room, then be sure to check out the useful tips and materials on this page. Here you will find photos with interesting models of stands, floor racks, hanging shelves for indoor plants. And video lessons and seven step-by-step master classes (with a photo of each stage of work) will help you make stylish flower stands and floor stands with whatnots with your own hands.

If your collection of indoor plants is constantly growing, then you should pay attention to the practical flower stands, which you can easily do with your own hands from various materials at hand. There are a large number of models of floor stands for flowers, hanging racks with convenient niches for vertical gardening, hanging shelves, with which you can organize space both in a spacious and in a small room (including on the balcony).

Having allocated space to create a green corner, we will use each square meter to compactly place all the pots with plants. Stands can be placed on the floor, in which sturdy metal stands are completed with wide shelves for flowers at different levels. Hanging shelves with long shelves made of wood on the wall will look harmonious next to the floor stands, and at the junction there are wooden corner shelves, which can be mounted or put stands with corner shelves for flowers.

On the windowsill
you can also place quite a lot of miniature plants if you make light and compact shelves with your own hands, reinforcing plexiglass shelves along the width of the window sill on thin (but durable) metal racks. Next to the window, you can put a beautiful floor stand for flowers made of wood in the form of an elegant ladder, on which the shelves will be located at the same level vertically or move forward.

Shelves on a multi-level rack, it can be placed at different heights in a separate niche, and the shelves themselves can be made different in length and width. On the lower, large and forward-facing shelves, you can put pots with large plants (Benjamin's ficus, Dracaena Marginata, azalea or fuchsia in the form of a tree), on medium and slightly forward shelves, you can place plants with falling leaves (chlorophytum, zygocactus, asparagus, miniature fern ), and on the upper shelves small flowers will look interesting (uzambara violets, potted hyacinths, phalaenopsis orchid or dendrobium) ampelous forms with beautiful flowers on long shoots (campanula bell, home petunias, hoya wax ivy). Such floor stands for flowers can be easily made with your own hands (including from an old staircase, from a wooden stepladder, from a tool rack, from pallets).

Also, metal racks for household utensils, kitchen shelves, old book shelves can be slightly modernized with your own hands and turned into excellent stands for your flowers. Keep in mind that floor stands should not be fragile, loose, and hold the shelves securely. And for a wall hanging shelf, you need to install reliable fasteners and wide wooden shelves.

7 MASTER CLASSES FOR MAKING STANDS AND SUSPENDED STRUCTURES FOR FLOWERS:

What housewife doesn't want to transform the look of her room with the help of bright colors of blooming violets, begonias or geraniums? It is aesthetically pleasing, a little refreshing, and generally beautiful. But inevitably it is necessary to decide where to place these flowers in pots? Not on the floor. We need shelves. It is not always possible to find what you need in the store, and you want to save some money. There is only one way out - to do it yourself, so that all this colored aesthetics, as they say, can be put on the shelves.

In this article, we will tell you how to make shelves for flowers with your own hands from wood and chipboard, consider options for wall and floor shelves, and also demonstrate photo and video instructions.

What material can the shelves be made of? It can be plywood, chipboard, wood, metal, glass, drywall, etc. If you have wooden planks lying around on your farm, and you have not yet found the proper use for them, make a shelf for flowers out of wood.

We start assembling a wooden structure

It will be very good if you have about 6 of these wooden planks, and at least two meters in height and 35 × 5 mm in size at the end. You will also need two 20 × 20 mm bars, also 2 meters high.

Arm yourself with a pencil, screwdriver (cross-shaped) or screwdriver, tape measure, saw and jigsaw, as well as self-tapping screws 25 and 40 mm. Also, you cannot do without an assistant who will simply support the structure when mounting shelves to the racks. Now you can start making.

  • Wooden planks for shelves are cut into 60 cm (12 pcs.) And 64 cm (6 pcs.) And, in total, we get 18 small planks - these are future shelves.
  • The bars are cut at 70 cm and 4 pieces are obtained - these will be the side racks.
  • From the remnants of the bars we cut out six more small bars: four of 23 cm and two of 19 cm. This is the future fastening for the shelves.
  • On the bars that will serve as racks for us, we make markings with a pencil for the two lower shelves. The marking is done with the calculation of the height of the flowers themselves in the pots, which we plan to place on them.
  • With the help of four bars (23 cm) we make two shelves. Bars are attached to both ends of the planks with 25 mm self-tapping screws, which in turn connect the planks to each other.
  • We fasten the shelves to the uprights with 70 mm self-tapping screws.
  • Using the same self-tapping screws, we attach 19 cm internal bars to the upper parts of the rack between each pair of vertical struts.
  • The third shelf is made locally by attaching each strip to the top of the product with 25 mm self-tapping screws.

Here's a small floor shelf or flower rack.

Chipboard

If you prefer a chipboard shelf, then you probably have experience with this material. Here you will have to tinker not so much with the manufacture of the structure itself, but with the preparatory work before assembly. You will need:

  1. Chipboard: workpieces measuring 140 × 200 mm (the best is the waste of pieces from one sheet, although not in principle)
  2. Fasteners (confirmations, screws - 2 pcs. 45 mm and 6 pcs. 16 mm).
  3. A drill for confirmations and a conventional drill.
  4. Hinged slats or awnings.
  5. Edge.
  6. Chopiki made of wood (dowels).
  7. PVA glue.

From tools:

  1. Iron.
  2. Hammer.
  3. A device for pasting an edge (a regular block with a groove slightly more than 16 mm).
  4. A piece of wood wrapped with sandpaper.
  5. Clamp.

As you can see, the list is quite large, and all this is necessary to prepare for the assembly.

First of all, we determine which ends of the parts will be visible, after which we begin to paste over them with an edge. For this we use an ordinary household iron and a boot knife to trim the excess edge. With a special tool, we smooth out the glued melamine edge and grind the end corners with an emery bar. Those places that will dock with each other should not be pasted over.

The elements of the back base for future shelves, which we have not pasted over with a paper edge, are prepared for joining together. We drill two shallow holes and fill them with glue. We hammer chopiki (dowels) into the holes, and in the abutting part of the neighboring element we also drill two holes and fill them with glue.

To make the chopiks coincide with the holes of the adjacent element, use special "conductors" or furniture taps for dowels. "Conductors" are put on dowels and pressed against the mating part, sharp taps will inevitably leave small indentations. Drill there.

We connect the parts together and press firmly. For this, a clamp will be an indispensable tool for us. Press the part tightly with a clamp and leave it to dry completely.

The back of the shelves is done. Now our task is to secure the shelves. To do this, first we make markup for confirmations.

We drill holes with a special confirmatory drill, after which we proceed to fastening the shelves, alternating them on the right and left.

It is best to attach the hanging strips from above and below so that the shelf hangs strictly vertically on the wall, even if someone accidentally touches it.

It remains to arrange flowers beautifully and you can enjoy the work of your own hands.

You can dream up and make the shelves colorful. Or another option: round off the free corners of the shelves and upholster them with a T-shaped plastic edge. It will be much more beautiful.

Corner

Now is the time to talk about corner flower shelves.

Sometimes the place for flowers is only in the corner, therefore, we need a corner shelf. It can be either a bookcase or a hanging shelf. Everything is simple, as mentioned above, the main thing is to prepare everything correctly. For example, if we want to make a corner shelf from chipboard with elements of chrome pipes, then we need:

  1. 4 squares of chipboard of the required size.
  2. T-shaped edge (you can match the color of the product, although this is not so important).
  3. Chrome-plated pipe Ø 25 mm (usually on sale three meters, so it will be better and cheaper to get the leftovers somewhere), 18 pipe flanges.
  4. Three plastic, chrome-plated legs.
  5. Melamine edging.

From the tool:

  1. Drill with attachment.
  2. Iron.
  3. Boot knife.
  4. Edge banding device.
  5. Sander.
  6. Electric jigsaw.
  7. Router with a cutter.
  8. Pipe cutter.
  9. Rubber hammer.
  10. Wood screws (4 × 16) up to 70 pieces.
  11. Screwdriver.

We pre-prepare the shelves by making them radius. We can do this with a jigsaw and a sander. We cut off the excess with a jigsaw, and process the cut place with a grinder. It is worth noting that a tool such as a jigsaw mercilessly cleaves the laminate when cutting. After grinding, these chips are practically removed. The next stage is gluing the flat ends of the shelves with melamine edging. Then we will deal with the radius places of the future shelves. We need a router and a milling cutter, which cuts a small groove at the end of the chipboard sheet, where we subsequently need to hammer the T-shaped profile with a rubber hammer. Next, we make a basting with a marker and drill 3 holes in the chipboard for the 25th pipe.

No holes are drilled in the top and bottom flanges at all.

We cut off the chrome-plated pipe parts we need with a special pipe cutter. We fasten the legs to the bottom of the shelf in advance. Then we screw the flanges onto the holes of the two shelves on both sides (it is better to do this before installing the shelves in the product) and thread the tubes. We fix them with special screws on the flanges and, one might say, the shelf is ready. This floral corner piece will be the perfect decor for your corner.

Suspended

Now it's worth talking about light-loving plants that need to be installed closer to the window or even on the window. Naturally, we will not talk about flowers, but about window shelves for flowers. Of course, your desire to arrange flowers on the window can be caused not only by the light-requiring of the plant, but also by the growth structure of its shoots. They can be, for example, flowing or curly. In this case, it would be better to think about how to arrange these flowers higher. How to make flower shelves in this case? You can use different materials for this.

You can also arrange for hanging plants in pots on the window. For this we only need a few 8x60 hook anchors.

  1. Drill a hole in the upper part of the window with a punch.
  2. Insert the anchor hook and screw it clockwise until it stops.
  3. We tie the ropes to the pots. Better if it is a regular fishing line. It is not so visible and strong enough. However, there is no limit to imagination.

The anchoring mechanism is designed in such a way that when screwed in, its spacer part expands and, thus, sits firmly in the concrete.

Glass shelf on the window

And if we talk about literal window shelves, then the next option is especially acceptable for those who want to do everything, firstly, quickly, secondly, reliably and, thirdly, beautifully. It is clear that we are not talking about placing flower pots on the windowsill. This is cumbersome, inconvenient, and in some cases not particularly beautiful.

These shelves can be mounted provided that the window itself is wooden.

In any furniture store where fittings are sold, you buy a chrome-plated shelf bracket (it is called an arched, concave bracket). On the household market, you can buy a one and a half meter rail about 3.5 cm wide and about 1.5 cm thick.As a rule, there is a glass store next to the market and if you know the exact dimensions of your future shelf, then order glass 3 mm with circular grinding. For beauty, you can choose any tint, and if you have children, it will be important that the glass must be tempered. When such glasses fall to the ground, they shatter into small pieces with non-sharp ends, and your child will not be hurt by them.

Next, we measure the depth of the shelf holder and cut small strips according to these dimensions. From the bottom on small screws we fasten these strips to the brackets. In this case, wood will serve as a lining material between glass and iron. You just need to make sure that the screws do not come out on the other side. Therefore, your fasteners must be of the appropriate size. There is little left to do: attach the brackets to the window frame. After that, you can put the shelves on top and make sure that we did everything correctly and the plane is strictly horizontal (use a building level for this). The shelves are not attached to the brackets, but will be pressed against by the flower pots. Convenience is that this entire glass structure can be easily dismantled in the event of a general cleaning, when it is necessary to wash the windows.

As you can see, there are quite a few variations on the flower shelf theme. Which one you prefer depends on your taste and your capabilities. The main thing is different: beautiful flowers will decorate your home, and beautiful original shelves made with your own hands will say a lot about the owner and mistress of this house. Therefore, have many flowers in your home.

When it comes to choosing a gift for a beloved woman, a man, first of all, has an association with jewelry or various elements of women's clothing. But for some reason, the moment is not taken into account that many women like to plant indoor flowers and take care of them in every possible way. Therefore, the idea of \ u200b \ u200bwith original shelves for flowers will be quite appropriate. The information below will tell you about easy ways to make your own flower shelves.

Plywood flower shelves

If a large plywood is lying around in the workshop and there is a desire to please your soul mate, you can easily make shelves for flowers from the material with your own hands. Regular inexpensive plywood with a certain thickness will be quite a convenient structure on which you can put flowerpots. A little imagination will turn such a shelf into an original design solution.

Instruments

To create a flower shelf, you should prepare the tools:

  • a sheet of plywood of such a size that it is convenient to cut out all the necessary elements;
  • a pair of nickel-plated or galvanized pipes of small diameter (the quantity is calculated at 2 pieces per shelf);
  • paint or any kind of varnish for wood; electric jigsaw;
  • drill with a convenient attachment for drilling holes for fastening pipes;
  • construction tape and sandpaper.

Manufacturing

Shelf Manufacturing Process:

  1. Having carefully examined the installation site of the flower rack, you need to choose the appropriate size for the shelves.
  2. On a sheet of plywood, based on the established measurements, make drawings of the shelves. When choosing the shape of the shelf, you can move away from the standard straight lines and complement the image of the structure with interesting bends of different depths. The main thing is that the overall appearance of the rack fits organically into the interior of the room.
  3. When cutting out the outlined parts with an electric jigsaw, you need to carefully follow all the contours of the elements.
  4. Holes for pipe mounting are marked on the uppermost workpiece.
  5. The cut blanks of the shelves are superimposed on each other and carefully drilled holes of a certain diameter for the installation of pipe supports.
  6. Plywood blanks are cleaned with an emery sheet. It is necessary to carefully process the end parts of the shelves.
  7. This is followed by the stage of coating the finished elements of the rack with paint or varnish. This procedure must be repeated several times to form an even and dense layer of the applied substance.
  8. Installation of the finished rack to the wall is carried out as follows. Specially designed brackets are attached to the backs of the upper and lower shelves. Holes are drilled in the wall, according to the marks made. Shelving shelves are fixed on the wall with self-tapping screws threaded through the holes in the brackets. It is necessary to check the strength of the suspended structure well.

Wooden shelving

The dimensions of wooden flower shelves can be 60 cm long, 23 cm wide, 70 cm high. In this model, 3 flower shelves are selected.

  1. For the manufacture of shelves, slats of small thickness are quite suitable. Since each shelf will consist of certain elements, it is necessary to cut 18 such thin blanks. The length of each element should be 60 cm. And from the bars you can make racks for a flower rack.
  2. Wooden blocks of 20 × 20 mm are selected and cut every 70 cm in an amount of 4 pieces.
  3. Elements of the future structure are cut out from the cut bars with an electric jigsaw, 23 cm in length.
  4. On the desktop, two racks are laid parallel to each other and marks are made in the places of future fastenings of the shelves. An important point here will be to determine the required distance between the shelves, as this will affect the ability to install flowers of different heights there.
  5. In the next step, 3 wooden flower shelves are installed, each of which consists of 6 planks. The shelves are connected to the end part with nails driven into bars 23 cm long. The length of each nail is 2.5 cm. At the end of the installation, it is necessary to sand all uneven edges with an emery sheet.
  6. When assembling the shelves, you need to expose the entire structure so that the master can comfortably hold the rack and hammer in nails at the same time.
  7. The finished product is processed with paint or furniture varnish in several layers.

Flower shelves made of wood and metal

The entire structure is fastened with metal struts connected by a welded bridge. This adds extra strength to the entire wall-mounted flower shelf. Bars made of wood will act as coasters.

  1. If the entire structure is to be attached to the wall, then it is necessary to acquire metal rods with a cross section of 1 cm. And to install the finished structure, corners are mounted on the floor. Based on the chosen place for installing the rack, the dimensions of the shelves themselves are determined. After that, metal racks are welded. With the dimensions of the length and width of the side contours of 90 and 20 cm, respectively, it is possible to install 4 shelves with a distance of 30 cm from each other. These dimensions are suitable for compact flower pots with small leaves of plants planted there. And the location of the top shelf allows you to install flowerpots with flowers of any height.
  2. The metal struts of the structure are connected using welded rods. This mounting method will provide an additional metal base for the plane of the shelves themselves and make the entire rack more reliable.
  3. The metal rail is used in 4 tiers. Finished welded elements are painted to match the interior.
  4. Wooden planks 25 × 15 mm are sawn along the length of the shelves of 60 cm.The finished elements are laid in parallel on a flat surface and connected together with wooden blocks 20 cm long.
  5. The wood-metal shelf is mounted to the wall using self-tapping screws. The distance between the marks for fastening should not be less than 50 cm. In order for the metal frame to be located on the wall parallel to the floor, a building level is used.

This will make it possible to lay the planks for the shelves evenly. The final stage will be painting the wooden elements of the finished flower shelf.

Plastic window sill flower rack

Based on the name of the structure itself, the main component of such a creation will be a plastic window sill 3 m 90 cm long. You will also need 3 pipes in nickel-plated or galvanized versions, 9 flange mounts and brackets in the amount of 2 pieces.

  • Each window sill is cut across into three pieces of 1.3 m each. Thus, we get our shelves.
  • In each shelf, 3 holes are drilled for future metal racks. The location of the holes will be the vertices of an isosceles triangle, that is, one at each end closer to the back side and one in the middle near the front edge. Hole locations in all shelves must not overlap.
  • Measure and cut 3 pipes of the same length. The structure is fastened with lag screws for flanges.
  • Fixed to the floor using the same elements. The role of the lower fasteners for the metal racks is performed by flanges and screws. And with the help of brackets built into the wall, the upper ends of the two pipes are fixed.

Corner shelves

Necessary blanks and materials for the work:

  • Chipboard sheet.
  • Nickel-plated or galvanized metal pipes.
  • Sufficient screws and flanges.

Corner shelf manufacturing process:

  1. The construction is being assembled in full analogy with the previous work. All the planned elements for the manufacture of triangular shelves are cut with an electric jigsaw.
  2. Marks are applied to each workpiece to cut holes for metal posts. These holes are drilled in three places. This process is duplicated for each shelf.
  3. All elements are connected to each other using flanges and screws. The position of the rack is fixed using wall-mounted brackets that fit over the tops of the pipes.
  4. And at the last stage of work, it remains to choose a color suitable for the overall interior for painting the structure.

Glass flower rack

A very original design of such a rack is achieved through the use of different glass and the use of LED lighting. The rays of light penetrating between the flowerpots magically illuminate the flowers from below, creating an overall shining picture. To make such a rack, you need 6 glass shelves and a pair of wooden slats.

  • The glass must be at least 5 mm thick. Tempered glass is selected.
  • The support strips for the shelves are made in a wooden style. Based on the cross-section of such strips, grooves are selected. Glass shelves are fixed in them. The grooves should be as strong and reliable as possible, since they hold all the elements of the glass flower rack.
  • When choosing much smaller sizes of structural elements, it is better to use such a device not for flowerpots, but for the exhibition of various small figurines and souvenirs. It will be more reliable to manufacture the bottom shelf in a wooden version.
  • Glass structures are practiced for growing flowers on a windowsill. The rack does not absorb much light and is compactly placed in the window opening.

Video

In this video, the wizard will show you how to make a shelf for flowers on the windowsill from an old cabinet. Simple, convenient, looks beautiful.

The cozy atmosphere in the house depends on even the smallest details. Everything should be in harmony: curtains, furniture, and various interior paraphernalia. Thanks to indoor flowers, you can also create a good atmosphere, but you need to place the pots with them correctly. Beautiful floor and hanging shelves for flowers with your own hands will not only decorate the interior of the room, but also allow you to rationally place any compositions.

Let's pay attention to the step-by-step instructions and find out how to make a do-it-yourself flower shelf. The product described below has a stepped structure, which will allow flowers in pots to receive an equal amount of light. A homemade shelf is an opportunity to intelligently use the available space with minimal financial investment.

The made rack for flowers has the following parameters:

  • 508 mm width;
  • 518 mm depth;
  • 456 mm height;
  • weight - 4.5 kg.

White oak, cypress, pine or mahogany are used to make a shelf for flowers made of wood. The assembly is carried out with stainless steel screws, the size of which is 4.5x38 mm.

Preparation of parts

We cut out the rear and front supports (A and B) according to the dimensions shown in the figures. At the ends of the front legs, we make bevels at an angle of 25 °. At the bottom of the legs, we mark the roundings with a radius of 20 mm, cut them out (you can use a jigsaw or a band saw) and grind them along the contour lines.

Click to enlarge

On the supports (B), which will be located at the back, mark the centers of the holes for mounting. The centers of the holes for mounting are transferred to the front supports (A) from the rear legs (B) - this is already when assembling the stack. On the outer edges of all legs, fillets must be milled, the radius of which should be 3 mm. After that, we grind the supports using 150 grit sandpaper.

Note! Having made a bookcase for flowers according to the specified parameters and based on the given drawings, in the future it will be possible, for example, to make shelves on the wall with your own hands. Wall-mounted shelves also add flavor to the living space. They can be performed with lighting, which will additionally decorate the room.

According to the specified dimensions, we cut out the following parts for the shelf:

  • side supports for the bottom shelf (C) - 19x51x492 - 2 pcs. ;
  • side supports for the middle shelf (D) - 19x51x337 - 2 pcs. ;
  • side supports for the top shelf (E) - 19x102x159 - 2 pcs. ;
  • bottom and middle crossbars (F), which will be located at the back - 19x51x406 - 1 pc. ;
  • the top bar (G) to be installed at the back - 19x102x406 - 4 pcs.

We draw roundings, the radius of which is 20 mm, at the bottom at the front corners of the lower and middle side supports. We do the same on the upper side supports, only here we make the roundings with a radius of 50 mm. Drawings are offered to help in the manufacture of flower shelves from wood and from scrap materials. We grind all the rounded curves along the contour, and then we grind all the other parts of the wooden shelf to a smooth state.

On the crossbars F and G. Which will be located at the back, we mark, based on the figure, the centers of the holes for the subsequent attachment of the side supports to them.

According to the indicated dimensions, we cut out long (H) and short (I) strips of the product. Along the edges, corners and ends of the ribs of the shelf strips, we mill the fillets, the radius of which is 3 mm. After that, mark the centers of the auxiliary holes on the strips.

Note! On long and short strips, the holes are located in the same way, and on one rear plate for the top shelf, they are placed slightly differently.

Assembling the shelves

Step 1. Lay out the lower side supports (C) and the crossbar (F) in accordance with the drawing. Through the rear crossbar into the side supports, we drill the mounting holes (the markings were applied earlier) and screw in them stainless steel screws 4.5x38 mm in size with a countersunk head.

Step 2. To fix the shelf strips H and I, insert between the side supports C a spacer, the length of which is 368 mm. We fix the rectangularity of the assembly by means of a carpenter's square, pressing it with clamps. To place the inner long bar on the upper edges of the side supports, we put marks, retreating 378 mm from the rear end of the part. Align the trailing edge of the long plank using the marks until the end overhangs are the same. Now we drill the mounting holes and fix the bar with screws. Install the second long plank in front of the first one, based on the drawing and using spacers, the thickness of which is 6 mm. After that, we fix two short ones behind the long slats.

Step 3. Connect the middle side supports D to the crossbar F using short and long shelf strips, according to the principle described in steps 1 and 2. But in this case there will be a slight difference: the alignment marks on the middle side supports should be placed at a distance of 225 mm from the rear ends of the parts. After that we connect:

  • upper side supports (E);
  • top rear crossbar (G);
  • three long shelf strips (H).

Check the previously marked upper back bar for correct orientation and then fix it on the same level with the back edge of the upper cross bar. We fix all the other planks of the floor shelf, leaving a distance of 6 mm between them.

Assembling the product

To install the rear legs (B), mark on their front edges the position where the lower and middle shelves will be located (see the very first drawing). We fix the rear leg with a clamp on the workbench with the marked edge up. At an angle of 90 °, we press the lower, middle and upper shelves to the leg with the help of clamps. In this case, you need to align the lower edges of the lower and middle side supports (C and D) with the marks on the leg, focusing on the photo below. Drill the mounting holes through the leg into each shelf and screw the screws into them. After that we fix the other back leg.

Attach the rear leg to the shelves

Now let the almost finished shelf for indoor flowers lie on the back side. At this time we will be assembling the rest of the structure.

Clamp the front leg (A), pressing its front edge to the trailing edges of the inner long strips (H) of the lower and middle shelf. In this case, the upper end bevel is adjusted along the lower side of the upper shelf slats, based on the photo. Align the carpentry square with the centers of the mounting holes on the rear legs (B). Departing 16 mm from the front and rear edges, mark the centers for the holes on the front leg. We drill the mounting holes and screw the screws into them. Repeat the procedure to secure the second front leg.

We grind all the places that require such a procedure and remove dust from the product. After that, we apply a protective coating. If the decision was made to make flower shelves that will be located outdoors, the protective covering must meet these goals.

We transfer the finished product of our labor to the place of its installation and place flower pots on the shelves. Now the flowers will enjoy the sunlight and pamper the eyes of the people around them.

Work examples

What will not the lovers of indoor flowers come up with in order to more comfortably place their favorites at home - capricious violets, spreading monsters and variegated dieffenbachia. After all, if there are a lot of flowers, then placing them so that they do not block the light to each other is sometimes problematic. Before making a flower rack, decide on the place where it will be placed: near the wall, in the corner or on the windowsill itself.

Racks for indoor flowers

A flower rack can be wooden, metal, plastic, plasterboard. The glass flower rack looks very good. But in this case, you need to take into account the thickness of the glass and whether you can cut the glass yourself or whether it is better to contact a glass workshop. Often they use everything that is at hand, combining different types of materials. It all depends on what tools the master owns and what materials the mistress of the flower kingdom has chosen.

Plywood flower rack in 6 hours

Let's say you have a sheet of plywood at hand. Quite durable and not too expensive material, which in just a few hours can turn into an elegant shelf for flowers, if you have a jigsaw and can use it to cut smooth lines in wood.

What do you need? Materials: plywood - 1 sheet, nickel-plated pipe - 2 pcs., Shelf mounts - 2 for each shelf, varnish or paint, fastening tool. Tools: jigsaw, drill, sandpaper, tape measure.

Manufacturing technology:

1. Thinking over the size of the shelves: measuring the place for which it is intended.

2. According to the measurements, draw future shelves on a sheet of plywood. Moreover, their configuration can be both the simplest (rectangular shelves with rounded corners), and with all kinds of waves, the number and depth of which depends on you.

3. After marking, the shelves are cut out of plywood.

4. Stack the blanks on top of each other and mark the distance where the hole for the pipe will be located. It is important that this point coincides exactly on all workpieces.

5. A hole is made in two places on each workpiece for a nickel-plated pipe.

6. Workpieces are sanded with sandpaper (especially the ends).

7. Cover the shelves with furniture varnish, preferably several times.

8. Through the holes we pass the nickel-plated pipe, fixing it near each shelf. Here it is important to ensure that the shelves are placed parallel to each other and perpendicular to the tubes.

9. The next step is to mount to the wall. These can be special brackets that attach to the back of the top and bottom shelves and to the wall. Here it is important to correctly mark the wall and use a drill to drill holes into which the self-tapping screws will be screwed. The size and strength of the fastening tool determines whether the shelf will fall under the weight of the flower pots.

DIY wooden flower rack in 3 hours

Dimensions of the offered rack: 23 cm wide, 60 cm long and 70 cm high. There are 3 shelves in total.

Materials: wooden strips (dimensions 3.5x0.5 cm, length - 2m) - 6 pieces, strips, dimensions of which are 2x2 cm, length - 2m - 2 pieces, nails (sizes 25 and 40).

Tools: tape measure, regular hammer, wood saw.

Thin strips will be used to make the shelves themselves, and 2x2 strips will be used to make racks for the shelf.

Manufacturing technology:

1. We mark the thin strips into pieces 60 cm long, and then saw them off. We get 18 planks.

2. We mark the strips 2x2 cm by 70 cm and cut them. We get 4 racks.

3. From the remnants of 2x2 cm strips, cut out 2 bars of 23 cm each.

4. We take 2 racks, put them parallel to each other on the floor and mark the places of the future fixing of the shelves. They must be accurately measured. The distance between the shelves depends on how high the flowers you plan to place on the inner shelves.

6. You will need help to assemble the entire structure. One holds the racks with shelves, the other fixes the structure with nails (size 40).

7. The finished product is varnished or painted.

Rack-shelf for flowers made of metal and wooden slats

This shelf will serve as a solid wall structure. After all, its racks are welded from metal.

To do this, take metal rods with a diameter of 7-10 mm or a corner (if the rack will stand on the floor) and weld a similar structure, the dimensions of which depend on the wishes and availability of space for the shelf. If the side bases are 90x20 cm, then this will allow you to place 4 shelves at a distance of 30 cm from each other. This is very convenient for placing low-growing flowers and ampelous ones. Tall flowers can be arranged on the top shelf.

During the welding process, attachments are provided on the upper inner edge of the structure, and crossbars for placing shelves. There will be 4 of them in total. Then, when the structure is ready, it can be painted.

In parallel, strips of 0.50-0.60 cm long are cut from the bars of 2.5x1.5 cm. You will need 20 slats. Then they lay them out parallel to each other face down and knock them down with the same strips, but short - 20 cm each.

The next step is to place the metal structure on the wall. To do this, use molly, if the wall is made of plasterboard, and ordinary self-tapping screws - for other types of walls. Here it is important to correctly measure the attachment points of the bases for the shelves. They must be in a parallel plane. Otherwise, the shelves will not lie flat on the rungs. So, the distance between the fasteners is 50-55 cm. Shelves are placed on the placed metal supports. The entire wooden-metal structure can be painted, or wooden shelves can be varnished, and metal shelves can be painted to match the rest of the room.

Shelf for flowers from the windowsill

To do this, you need a plastic window sill 3.90 m long, nickel-plated pipes (3 pcs.), Fasteners (flange) - 3 for each shelf, brackets - 2 pcs.

Manufacturing technology:

1. An ordinary window sill is sawn into pieces of 1.3 m.

2. In the resulting blanks, 3 holes are made at the same distance: 2 along the edges at the rear wall and 1 in the center at the front.

3. The pipes are cut to the required height. with the help of flanges and screws, they fasten the entire structure.

4. The lower edge of the pipes is fixed to the floor using the same flanges in 3 places. Brackets are put on the upper edge of two pipes located near the wall and are also attached to the wall with screws.

Corner rack for flowers

This design is most simple to make from chipboard and the same nickel-plated pipes. You will need only 3 pipes of the length you need, several identical shelves cut with a jigsaw according to the scheme (triangular shape) and the number of flanges and screws corresponding to the number of shelves. Everything is assembled according to the technologies specified above. Measure seven times - cut one. At the top, the shelf is attached to the walls with brackets. For fixing, it is enough to place the brackets on the two outer corners.

Glass flower rack

Such a device is convenient in that if you place the backlight on top, then the light will penetrate all the shelves. You can make such a glass shelf using two wooden slats and 6 glasses. Of course, the material of the shelves is tempered glass with a thickness of at least 5 mm. Vertical slats can be made of wood. The size of the groove, which is made for fastening the glasses, and, accordingly, the strength of their fastening depends on their thickness. For shelves with a thickness of about 20 cm, the grooves should be about 10 cm. This means that the thickness of the slats should in no way be less than 20 cm. There may be other proportions, but they are more suitable for placing souvenirs and various small things on such shelves. Flower pots weigh a lot, and if there are several of them, then pressure is created on the entire structure. In the design described above, one of the shelves at the bottom can be replaced with a wooden one.

Plasterboard shelves for flowers

Many options for shelves and shelving are available in drywall. These can be either niches in the wall or ordinary shelves. In both the first and second cases, a frame is built, which is sheathed with plasterboard. From a decorative point of view, such a design is very beneficial, but from a practical point of view, it does not. Flowers are water and it is impossible to guarantee 100% that moisture does not get on the material that deteriorates from it. Therefore, one of the options is to attach glass shelves to the plasterboard frame. This design will look very advantageous with backlighting.

As you can see, there are so many options for flower racks. Photos clearly demonstrate that there is no limit to human imagination. Whatever material falls into the hands of the master, it can turn out to be durable and beautiful flower racks.
