Types of blinds fastening. Installing blinds on a plastic window - do-it-yourself installation features. Options for installing blinds on plastic windows

It is not always convenient to use curtains. In some cases, blinds are more practical and more convenient. They make it possible not only to protect yourself from indiscreet glances in the evenings, but also to regulate the level of illumination during the day by turning the slats (plates). We will talk about how to install blinds on plastic windows in this publication.

Designs and installation methods

There are two types of blinds for windows - vertical and horizontal. Vertical lamellas are usually made of plastic or special dense fabric, cut into strips 10-15 cm wide. Less commonly, you can find lamellas made of aluminum or synthetic threads.

Lamellas of horizontal blinds are plastic, wood and metal. Regardless of the type and material, they consist of cornice and lamellas. Cornice - a plastic or aluminum U-shaped section in which the controls are located and to which the lamellas are suspended. Lamellas are horizontal or vertical stripes / plates that actually cover the opening. In order to be able to open and close the blinds, there are controls - chains or threads.

In horizontal models, there is also a control rod associated with the rotary mechanism. By rotating the rod, the angle of inclination of the lamellas is changed. This is how you can change the amount of light and the "degree of transparency" of the window. If the lamellas are placed vertically (almost), they completely block the view. In a horizontal position, they almost do not interfere with the view, but there are still a lot of other positions.

Installation of horizontal and vertical blinds

When installing the blinds, you need to attach the cornice. To fix it, specially designed brackets are included in the kit. These brackets are attached to a window or wall, and the cornice is simply put on them (until it clicks).

There are several ways to install blinds on slab windows:

The method of installing the blinds will have to be determined even before the purchase: the size of the canvases depends on this. So the type of installation must be selected before measurements.

We carry out measurements

It is necessary to decide on the type of blinds (horizontal, vertical) and the method of their installation (on the wall, ceiling, in the window on the sash, in the window opening) before buying. And even until the moment you start measuring. Because different installation methods require different sizes. Only with the correct measurements will it be easy to install blinds on plastic windows.

Another important point: you need to measure each window separately... Sometimes it just seems that they are exactly the same. Believe me, there is a difference. And the measurement results must be recorded and signed, which specific window you measured and which sash it is. Accurate and detailed records will help avoid confusion when purchasing and installing.

Into the window opening

Although the appearance of the products is different, when measuring there is no difference between horizontal and vertical models. If you are going to install blinds in a window opening, it is necessary to subtract 2 cm from its width on each side. You can subtract 1-3 cm from the height of the opening. Such gaps are needed so that the canvas hangs freely in the opening and the lower edge of the lamellas does not rub on the windowsill.

Please note that it is possible to install blinds on plastic windows "in the opening" not flush with the edge of the opening, but deeper - at the glass itself or by stepping back 5 or more centimeters from the edge. If the opening has a trapezoidal shape, the height / width of the opening will be less for the glass, so we carefully measure it. And yet, in this case, it is better to put marks for installation even when measuring. Then you will know exactly where you will need to install blinds on plastic windows so that their dimensions fit perfectly.

Ceiling or wall

Here the measurements depend on your desires. The length of the blinds can be up to the floor or only up to the windowsill. Moreover, depending on the type of installation chosen, the lamellas can cover the window sill or not. So the length is whatever you like best.

This is wall mounting. When mounted on the ceiling, the length will increase., And how much - you choose

The width of the blinds with this installation method is wider than the window opening. How much wider depends on your desire, but the minimum entry is 5 cm on each side. But if the window is in the same plane with the wall surface, you will need additional brackets, which are not included in the package: the lamellas must be spaced at least 5 cm from the glass surface so that they do not interfere with the opening of the sash for ventilation.

On sash

When installing blinds on a multi-sash window, there are two options - to put one device on each sash or order one long one for the whole window. Usually the first option is chosen - it makes it possible to open and close the sashes when the blinds are lowered. If you choose this installation method, you will need to measure each leaf and record the results. The flaps can be different, so be careful.

The width of the blinds when installed on the sashes is taken 3 cm wider than the glass. When hanging, the lamellas are 1.5 cm over the profile. It is convenient and does not interfere with opening / closing windows. The length depends on the mounting location, but usually it is 5 cm longer than the glass height.

Once again, we draw your attention: we measure each sash!

How to install blinds on plastic windows: attach to a wall or window opening

The first step is to apply the markings. We install brackets in the cornice. We place them on the right and left so that they do not interfere with the operation of the blinds. The installation height depends on the selected product length.

We apply the curtains, mark with a pencil on the wall the places for installing the fasteners in the brackets. If we are installing horizontal blinds (they are light and hardly create loads), it is enough to put one screw / dowel at a time. Vertical ones are heavier, so you need to install all the fasteners from the kit.

There is also a second way. Draw a horizontal line at the selected level using the building level, try to avoid tilting - this will affect the blinds (skew). Attach the bottom of the bracket to this line, using a pencil to mark through the holes for drilling. If the length of the eaves is more than 2 m, an additional bracket is needed to increase the rigidity of the structure, which is fixed in the middle.

When fastening to brick or concrete, we drill holes in the wall or ceiling at the marked points. Drill or hammer drill - who has what in stock. The drill diameter depends on the size of the dowels. They usually come in a set, but you can put your own.

We insert expansion dowels into the finished holes, carefully hammer them in with a hammer. We put the brackets, fasten them with screws or nails (if a dowel-nails are used). We install the cornice on the brackets, insert the plugs on the sides. For horizontal blinds, attach a rod (handle) to control the swing mechanism. To do this, directly into the mechanism itself, install a special hook (included), attach the tip of the rod to this hook.

Installation of horizontal blinds on PVC window sashes

With this method of installation, the blinds are attached with small self-tapping screws (included in the kit) to the window profile. They must be installed so that they do not interfere with the handle turning. Be careful: if you drill too close to the glazing beads, you can damage the glass unit. Therefore, in this case, correct measurements are very important.

Installation step by step

The procedure is as follows:

Having to drill holes in a window frame can be daunting, but that's okay. In case of improperly made holes, unsuccessful ones can be filled with sealant. White silicone, not acrylic (acrylic turns yellow quickly). In this case, the characteristics of the windows will not be affected. What could be dangerous is getting into a double-glazed window. Then it can crack. But this is not fatal - it can be replaced, although it will not be cheap.

We put the lower clamps

But that is not all. In order to finally install horizontal blinds on plastic windows, you need to drill a couple more holes - for the clips (also called anti-wind). These are additional fasteners at the bottom of the opening sash of the window. The bottom edge of the blinds is tucked into them. They do this so that when airing the blinds do not hang down, do not dangle from the wind and do not knock objects on the windowsill.

Don't hang out ...

We put the clamps as follows: we try on, pulling the blinds down a little, mark the places of fasteners, drill holes, install. We fill the lower bar into the installed clips. Now, even with a draft or an open sash, the blinds will not dangle. The only thing you need to watch out for during installation is not to get into the glazing bead (this is a long bar that goes along the glass unit and holds it). It is necessary to drill a hole in the frame itself, stepping back at least 1 cm from the edge. Otherwise, there are no problems.

No drilling

There is also a way to install blinds on plastic windows and not drill the frame. This method is available only for those blinds that are hung on opening sashes. In this case, they are simply hung on plastic mounts / brackets that slide onto the frame from above. To prevent them from moving, a strip of double-sided tape is attached to the back of the bracket. After removing the protective film, it can be glued (but you can not fix it).

These L-shaped plastic brackets are not included, but you can buy them from a store or from a firm that sells horizontal blinds. This method is convenient for simple dismantling of the blinds, which is convenient if they need to be repaired or washed.

Assembly of vertical blinds

The vertical blinds are installed in the same way as described above. The difference is that the lamellas are installed after the cornice is fixed (the guide along which the runners move). For convenience, before attaching the slats, you can turn the sliders with an adjustment cord so that the slots in them stand perpendicular to the cornice. Next, just snap the slats into the sliders, inserting the strip until it clicks. So, in turn, we fix all the lamellas.

If the lamellas are made of fabric, then after installing them, do not forget to insert the lower weight. Next, we attach the lower connecting chain to the lamellas.

Installation of vertical blinds is complete.

Blinds, 10 years ago, looked like a real foreign exoticism, today they have firmly entered our life. Most office spaces and institutions have moved from using standard blinds to universal blinds that are less dusty, sturdier looking and incredibly comfortable.

Blinds are used even in classic-style rooms, as their functionality, ease of maintenance and appearance are excellent. In addition, blinds provide effective protection of spaces from sunlight, allow you to easily adjust the level of illumination in the room, and reliably screen the room from prying eyes.

The installation of blinds should be carried out in accordance with all the rules, otherwise you risk getting a lot of problems: the canvases will not move, the curtain will be difficult to assemble, etc. High-quality installation ensures the blinds have a long service life. When installing, you need to take into account the design features, the specifics of the walls (or window frames) in the room.

PVC window manufacturing companies offer blinds in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Depending on the destination, blinds are made from:

By type of blinds there are:

These types differ significantly in the location of the lamellas and the installation methods.

Vertical blinds are rare in ordinary living spaces, they are more often used in offices. They are mounted over the top edge of the window, similar to curtains, although this may adversely affect their functionality. Roller blinds and horizontal blinds are more often used at home instead of traditional curtains. They are installed not only in the window opening, but also over the window.

Roller blinds are mounted on the front surface of the corner of the upper slope of the window profile.

Blinds with horizontal slats can be mounted directly on the window profile, on each sash. Often, horizontal slats are complemented by curtains with curtains. Installing blinds directly on the window profile saves valuable space in the room itself and frees up space on the windowsill.

The blinds are made up of:

For windows of a non-standard shape, it is necessary to use lamellas, of a special length, which will best provide the light protection of the room.

If your window has two sashes, then when installing the blinds, pay attention to the location of the blind lifting mechanism (right, left).

Three ways to install blinds:

  • overlay;
  • on each casement of the window separately;
  • directly into the window opening.

The factory set of blinds usually includes all the materials for their installation: screws and self-tapping screws, as well as other parts.

The choice of installation option is related to the design features of the window: it is a little easier to install blinds on standard double-leaf windows than on inclined dormer windows. One of the most difficult is the installation of blinds on PVC windows, since working with plastic, in comparison, say, with wood, has a number of specific features. The installation of the cornice on plastic windows must be carried out as carefully as possible and it is better to do this in the warm season (at temperatures above +5 degrees Celsius).

The installation of the blinds on the window sash can be carried out using self-tapping screws, brackets or by drilling holes in the frame. This is the most durable and reliable.

Important! The tightness of the profile when attaching the curtain rod to it by drilling does not suffer. If it becomes necessary to remove the cornice, and holes remain in the frame, they can be filled with white silicone sealant.

If you don't feel like drilling holes, use brackets that attach to the frame without drilling.

Important! In most cases, the blinds can be fixed to the screws that are already in the window profile. This mounting method is no less reliable than drilling holes. You can learn about the possibility of such a simple installation from the blinds instructions.

Blinds installation progress

After unpacking the blinds, read the instructions. Installing blinds means: measure the window and adjust the size of the blinds to it; then install the mountings for the cornice and the cord system; collect strips on the cornice and check the system performance.

Measurements are necessary so that later it would be convenient to use the light-shielding cloth without complaining about distortions or frequent breakdowns. It is especially important to check the dimensions of the canvases and adjust them to the place of attachment if the window opening has a specific geometric shape.

Before screwing, you need to mark the position of the fasteners with a pencil, checking them with a level and a tape measure in order to avoid a skewed fit and leave an opportunity for adjusting the container, and also so that the strips do not go beyond the window glass.

2. Installation of eaves and lamellas

Before installation and direct installation, it is necessary to mark the fasteners with maximum accuracy and symmetry. Additional fastening must be provided for the control cord so that the structure can withstand the additional load. All elements are fixed to the wall with screws or dowels. Next, the installation of the cornice is carried out. The slats and runners themselves will be attached to it. The rigidity of the structure is guaranteed by the upper cornice bar, so there is no need to additionally strengthen the bar with glue, sealant or foam - it is fixed quite rigidly.

When reinstalling, measure the width of each window sash so that the window fittings do not interfere with the free hanging of the lamellas. Also, when choosing the installation "in the window opening", you need to decrease the height on each side by 2 cm so that the canvas does not touch the window sill. To fix the blinds close to the plastic window, you need to drill the plastic frame of the window according to the markings - pre-drilling will prevent the plastic from cracking.

If the plates on which the blinds are hung do not fit snugly against the window profile, use shims.

Brackets for blinds are screwed into the holes with self-tapping screws. Next, the brackets must be fastened upwards with latches and a container with blinds inserted into them.

The lower holders are attached as follows: lower the curtain to mark the lower points (the canvas should be loosely stretched). Drill the holes along these marks, into which the lower holders must be screwed to fix the canvas in the "micro-ventilation" position. Make sure the staples sit firmly in the plastic.

When installing overlay, the width must be added by 5 cm so that the entire opening is closed. The height is freely adjustable and can go up to the windowsill or the floor itself.

There are a number of modern methods of installing blinds, involving the installation of a curtain rod with lamellas on brackets that are attached to the window frame without drilling. The striped cornice is simply hung on the brackets and snapped into place. The design is collapsible, which allows you to remove the blinds when you need to wash the window glass or wipe the lamellas. This is the easiest way to install blinds.

Features of installing blinds by type

Vertical blinds

Before starting the installation of vertical blinds, you need to decide whether a wall or ceiling mount for the cornice will be more convenient. The height of the light-shielding fabric depends on the place of attachment of the cornice.

The thickness of the guide for vertical blinds should be at least 5-6 cm, such a gap will provide free movement of the lamellas. If there is an obstacle between the blinds and the wall (batteries, etc.), then you will need to install an additional bracket, which is not included in the kit, you must buy it separately.

If you want the blinds to be at some distance from the wall (there are different cases: a pipe, etc.), you must additionally purchase a bracket

For vertical blinds, the order of suspension of the lamellas is also important: they must be attached to the cornice in the same order that was in the factory box. Also, before starting the installation, it is necessary to determine the correct direction of the hangers. The correct position when closed, you do not see the seam on the material of the blinds.

Remember to set the lower weights on the vertical strips to keep the canvas looking even. Loads from the outside and inside are connected by a chain. The plumb bob is attached to the cord that is included in the kit. Different manufacturers use plumb bobs of different shapes.

There are many different vertical blinds in stores, but they are often unreliable. The safest thing to do is to mount the blinds using a pair of brackets that need to be screwed to the wall with self-tapping screws.

Roller blinds and horizontal blinds

Horizontal and roller blinds, as well as vertical ones, are equally conveniently installed on the wall, attached to a window or ceiling. The main thing is to clearly measure out whether the canvases will interfere with opening the window. If this happens, in the strips, if possible, you need to cut a hole in advance for comfortable opening of the window sashes.

When fixing on double-sided tape, do not forget to properly dust and degrease the surface.

You yourself are convinced that self-assembly of blinds is quite simple, if you know a few tricks that make this process easier. Good luck using your own blinds!

Mechanical curtains are very compact - the entire opening in the wall is completely free, and it is convenient to attach blinds to plastic windows using new technologies, without violating the integrity of the glass unit elements.

Usually choose horizontal lamella systems or roll and cassette designs. There are several ways to fix them to the sash or other window details. Classic blinds made of aluminum strips are fixed with screws. More modern ones are attached with clips to an open sash or glued directly to the frame. The surface without drilling marks looks more attractive and the installation process itself is much easier.

Types of fasteners

Snap fastening

Vertical blinds are installed on the window opening by means of a cornice, away from the glass unit. This is due to the design of the vertical slats: their usual width of 10 cm requires a 10-15 cm gap with the plane of the glass. In order to bring the curtain as close as possible to the surface of the window, such systems are attached to the upper part of the window slope.

The main methods of fixing horizontal and roller blinds to the frame and sashes of a plastic window:

  1. 1. Self-tapping screws and brackets, additional accessories. Their use is necessary to hold a product weighed down with a supply of canvas in a drum or lamellas on a suspension. First, the supports are screwed into the mounting holes with screws. After that, the assembled pipe is inserted into the protrusions and slightly pressed until it clicks. The brackets themselves are covered with decorative elements. The advantage of the method is the ability to hold a heavy mechanism.
  2. 2. Latches. Such devices are used on windows that open in any direction. Their design resembles a spring-loaded bracket and is fastened with a lock for the sash protrusion. Such devices are also called hinged brackets, but they are not fastened with self-tapping screws, but due to fixation on the glass unit. This is a universal method, but not suitable for all models.
  3. 3. Liquid nails, duct tape and double-sided tape. They allow you to attach blinds to plastic windows without drilling holes. Previously, the places of contact of the product are degreased and heated with a hairdryer. After this procedure, the mechanism is glued to the sash. The method is intended for light curtains. If the weight of the blinds is significant, a spring grip is additionally installed.

With any method of fastening, the open section of the chain device is directed downward. Horizontal and roll-up systems are placed on the inner side of the window according to the principle: one curtain per sash.

Installation of blinds on plastic doors using screws

Before installing the blinds, you must make sure that the product matches the window dimensions - height and width. Installation is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. 1. With the help of a building level and a pencil, mark the position of the cornice on the frame so that the lamellas cover the glass.
  2. 2. In the upper part of the base of the blinds, fixing earrings are placed - they are designed to fix the cornice on the brackets. Their place is inside the mechanism.
  3. 3. Mark with a pencil the points of attachment of the supports and holes for the screws.
  4. 4. Drill holes (one for each of the two projections) in a plastic frame with a diameter smaller than the screw size by 0.5 mm.
  5. 5. Select screws up to 1.2 centimeters long, tighten and level the brackets.
  6. 6. Drill the rest of the holes and tighten other fasteners, after which you can put the cornice and the blinds on the supports.

In the same way, the lower part of the mechanism is fixed on the sash near the window sill and the whole structure is adjusted. It must be remembered that opening control details are hidden at the edges of the window: when drilling, there is a chance to stumble upon them if you place the brackets too close to the periphery.

Gentle installation method

Horizontal blinds with stripes up to 2 cm wide and no more than 80 cm long can be hung on a plastic window without drilling it. For this, adhesive tapes and formulations are used in the order described above:

  1. 1. The surfaces to be glued are treated with acetone or alcohol.
  2. 2. Apply glue or tape.
  3. 3. Dried and an hour later do it again.
  4. 4. Fix the cornice by pressing down and leave for half a day.
  5. 5. In the lower part, fasteners are glued in a similar way, which keep the canvas unfolded and taut.

After that, it remains only to install a cord or control bar in the cornice to change the angle of rotation of the lamellas.

In the same way, roller blinds are fixed in mini-cassettes of the Mini type system - these are fabric curtains on a small shaft, which is installed on separate sashes of plastic windows. The lower metal strip is fixed with magnetic holders: they are glued to the frame in an already indicated way. To make the layout of the location of the roller blinds correctly, the following points must be taken into account:

  • it is convenient to operate from the side of the sash hinges;
  • the width of the canvas must be chosen according to the glass, adding 30 mm to the glazing bead at the edges;
  • along the height of the curtain, add 120 mm for the installation of the mount;
  • it is necessary to pay attention to the handle - it should not interfere with the lowering of the curtain;
  • blinds should not prevent the window from opening completely.

The length of the chain that controls the lifting and lowering of the shade is 2/3 of the glass height. There are other options for roller curtains:

  • uNI systems with two guides;
  • ISOLIT and ISOTRA - they can be installed on fixed doors;
  • roll-curtains "Zebra".

Installation instructions are included with each device.

First of all, we will consider the installation of horizontal blinds, since it is most difficult to install blinds on plastic windows in this case:

  • measure the same distance from each edge;
  • drill a hole in the wall, then insert a dowel into it that will match the wall material. Now you can screw the mount with screws;
  • using a straight edge and a spirit level, measure the location of the second fixture and screw it in. In the case of horizontal blinds, you will also need to use another mount in the event that the width of the product exceeds the specified distance. Also, if you need to attach vertical blinds to the ceiling, the width of which exceeds one and a half meters, you should use three fastening brackets;
  • you can now attach the blinds to the placed mounts.

It is best to use dowels that match the fasteners used, as well as the material of the walls or ceiling, depending on where exactly you are going to mount the blinds.

Before installing the mounts, you will need to check in advance if the folded blinds will interfere with the normal opening of the window.

Installation without drilling

As mentioned above, in this technology, specialized brackets will be used as a basis. They can be fixed in a variety of ways, and only then the supporting structure of the blinds can be snapped onto or screwed onto them. The use of this installation option is popular for the reason that after that it will be possible to easily detach the blinds for major cleaning or even completely remove them from the window. At the same time, any extra holes will not remain in sight, and the tightness of the window profile will not be compromised.

The installation of the brackets themselves in this case can be carried out using screws or other methods, such as:

  • fastening to the upper part of the sash profile. The use of this method is relevant only when the blinds are installed on the opening sash;
  • fastening with standard double-sided tape.

The first option allows you to easily remove everything, along with the brackets, almost immediately without the need to perform any additional manipulations with holes and screwdrivers. The second option is similar to how the installation is done with screws, but instead of screwing, the blinds are simply glued to the surface.

Instead of holes for the retention line, you can use standard fasteners, which can be easily glued to the bottom of the frame using double-sided tape.

Mounting mounts

Despite the fact that over the past few years a huge number of a wide variety of interesting mounting options have appeared, the most relevant is the installation technology using a standard drill. Almost every home craftsman knows perfectly well how to drill, so it will be enough to see how the blinds are installed on plastic windows in the video:

This installation option will allow you not only to hang the blinds normally, but also to fix them reliably enough so that they can serve you faithfully for a long time without loosening or losing their operational advantages.

Installation of ready-made blinds on windows does not require any special skills. Moreover, for this, in general, simple work, sometimes you have to lay out very considerable sums for professional installers.

Therefore, it would be most advisable to fix the blinds to the ceiling with your own hands. To do this, it will be possible to get by with the tools at hand, which are available in the arsenal of any home craftsman.

Aesthetics and practicality

More recently, blinds were perceived as a kind of foreign exoticism. But rather quickly our fellow citizens, accustomed to traditional curtains and curtains, were able to appreciate the practicality of use and the aesthetic beauty of these designs.

Since then, the "triumphal march" of these light-protective devices, invented in the 18th century in the United States, began through the apartments and offices of our country. Today they are no longer perceived by us as something unusual - more and more owners of residential and office premises prefer these easy-to-use lattice structures.

The only drawback that can be pointed out is the higher price of blinds compared to classic fabric curtains. However, the total cost of the structure can be reduced if it is installed on the windows on its own.

Blinds design features

Vertical blinds

Today in our market there are several types of blinds that differ from each other in their design features. Depending on their type, the ways of attaching the blinds are also different:

  1. Horizontal blinds. Reiki (or the so-called "slats") in this design are located one above the other. Light access to the room is regulated here by turning the lamellas around their axis, as a result of which they either press tightly against each other or form a gap. It is necessary to install such structures, as a rule, directly on window frames.
  2. Vertical blinds. They differ from the first option in the location of the lamellas hanging from top to bottom. In this case, the regulation of light access can be carried out both by turning the lamellas, and by moving them to the side, like with conventional fabric curtains. In this case, the blinds are located directly above the window - on the wall above the window opening or on the ceiling.
  3. "Roman curtain". It is one of the types of horizontal devices. Only the access of light here is regulated not by turning the slats, but by raising the entire structure: the curtain goes up, rolling up into a roll. Fasteners for blinds of this type are also located either on the wall, above the window, or on the ceiling.

The materials from which the devices can be made are very different - aluminum, wood, fabric. But this does not in any way affect the installation features of the blinds mounts. As a result, we have two main types of fastening:

  • directly on the window frame (for horizontal type devices);
  • on a wall or ceiling (mounts for vertical blinds).

If in the course of the work the blinds are damaged, it will not work to exchange them for others. The warranty does not cover damage caused by self-assembly.

Installing blinds on a wall or ceiling

Blinds fixing scheme

The main device with which vertical blinds are attached is the cornice. Rotary and sliding mechanisms are installed in it, and lamellas hanging down are attached to it.

Preparatory work

To attach the eaves of the vertical device to the wall or to the ceiling, you will need the following tools:

  • hammer drill or hammer drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • pencil.

Before proceeding with the installation of the cornice, you should make all the necessary measurements. In height, the cornice should be installed in such a way that the lamellas hang down at least 5-10 cm below the window or sill.

At the desired height on the wall, mark a point and using a level with a pencil, draw a strip along which the cornice will be attached. On this line, mark a point that exactly coincides with the middle of the window.

Installation of the cornice

Next, we will need to determine the points for the installation of fasteners - dowel-nails. To do this, we attach to the line a cornice from a set of blinds so that its center corresponds to the mark of the center of the window.

If the part already has holes for fasteners, then we put points in these places on the wall or ceiling, depending on where you intend to attach the cornice. If there are no ready-made technical holes, then they will have to be made by ourselves using a drill, stepping back a few centimeters from the edge of the cornice.

Then, using a punch or impact drill, we drill the wall (ceiling) and drive a plastic dowel into the hole.

We reapply the cornice in place so that the fixing holes in the cornice coincide with the dowels installed in the wall or ceiling, and using self-tapping screws we fix it in the desired position.

In the case of a significant width of the cornice or the overall massiveness of the structure, it is recommended to additionally fix the cornice in the center in one or two places.

Installing blinds on window frames

This installation method is mainly used for horizontal devices. Unlike attaching the eaves to a wall or ceiling, this method is difficult for many home craftsmen.

Many do not quite understand how to attach the structure to the frame of plastic windows. Meanwhile, all the same screws or screws are used for this.

In this case, when drilling an aluminum or PVC frame with a self-tapping screw, the tightness of the window does not suffer at all.

To do this, as in the first case, we make markings in such a way that the blinds evenly protrude beyond the edges of the glazing both to the right and to the left. In this case, we take into account that all preliminary measurements were made before buying the blinds, and they exactly match the dimensions of your window. We install blinds holders directly on the window frame using self-tapping screws for metal (for aluminum frames) or ordinary screws (for PVC frames). For more information on installing blinds, see this video:

We snap onto the holders or fasten the bearing cornice - depending on the design features of the device. We install rotary mechanisms with control cords on the cornice. It is also possible to install blinds of this type in the interframe space if you have double wooden frames installed in your home.

The light protection device is mounted on the inner frame from the side facing the outer frame. To control the blinds, in this case, a hole is drilled in the upper part of the frame through which the cords of the rotary system are threaded. For information on how to install blinds without self-tapping screws, see this video:

As you can see, the installation of any type of blinds on the windows can be easily done by hand. This will allow you to significantly save on calling a team of professional installers. To carry out the work, it is enough to have only a standard set of home construction tools and the necessary fasteners.
