When replacing broken glass in an interior door, you must act very carefully so that when working with tools, do not destroy the door, as well as new glass.

Before starting work, it is useful to get rid of old glass, often broken or cracked. It is better to prepare for this by providing yourself with the necessary tools and improvised means:

gloves (it is better to take tight ones, but not extremely thick ones);
medium-sized hammer;
scoop, broom;
paper of the highest density;
wide slotted screwdriver or chisel.

You can completely replace the glass with your own hands, and the door will be like new. It all depends on how brave you are to take on such a job. Working with glass requires certain abilities. You need to follow safety precautions. The ability to perform glass replacement at home depends on which glass was installed first. Important qualities are: the method of fixing the glass and the type of door.

Replacing glass in an interior door: a classic rectangle

The procedure for replacing rectangular glass is not complicated. The main thing is to do everything methodically and according to the instructions.

Splinters can be hazardous. Carefully remove the fragments from the door, collect them from the floor. To pull the fragments out of the door, slightly loosen the glazing beads (see below for how to remove the glazing beads). Observe safety precautions: wear work gloves.
