Hanoi - hue. Hue, Vietnam - independent travel

Da Nang is a large modern city with skyscrapers and wide avenues. It is great for both beach holiday and for sightseeing trips. Interesting places there are not many here, but for the sake of them it is worth to overcome thousands of kilometers. The marble caves and Hue will always be remembered by me, you can drive to them on your own.

By train

Take a look at this transport first of all, in Hue by train you can get there quickly and inexpensively. There is a problem with motor transport in Vietnam, because of the chaotic traffic, it is rarely possible to drive more than 40 km / h.

Trains leave from this station:

And after 2.5-4 hours they arrive in Hue:

I found the timetable on the railway website, trains run 15 times a day:

The schedule is good, it is really possible to go to Hue in one day. Choose a flight by departure time, duration of the trip and the type of wagons.

  • Ngoi cung - wagons with wooden benches. The cheapest tickets are sold here;

  • ghế phụ - second class places. There are already soft chairs, but the carriages are not the newest;
  • ngoi mem dieu hoa are carriages with soft seats and air conditioning, one might say, first class. The price depends significantly on the novelty of the composition;

  • nằm khoang điều hòa - compartments for 4 and 6 people, the most expensive tickets.

Where to buy tickets

Tickets are sold at the train station at the box office, on the railway site. If you can't buy tickets online (because our cards don't go through, judging by the reviews), you can still contact the guesthouses, they sell tickets with a small extra charge.

Price

It depends significantly on the type of carriages, for example, a ride on a wooden bench will cost 30,000 dong (1 euro). A trip in the second class costs 35,000 dong (1.3 euros), while in the first class it costs from 35,000 to 76,000 dong (1.3-2.7 euros). Seats in a compartment cost 50-110 thousand dong (1.7-3.8 euros).

By bus

Throughout the day, there are regular flights to Hue from the bus station, it is easy to find, all city buses bring to it:

The duration of the trip depends on the route; the bus can take a short route through a tunnel or a long one along a mountain serpentine. On average, it takes 3-3.5 hours to get to Hue. The bus arrives here:

The buses are not off the assembly line, but tolerable, the price is affordable. There are still flights of travel agencies, but I don’t want to bother you with them. Buses leave a couple of times a day, tickets are expensive, the only plus is that you can lie down in the slipbass. If anything, here are the sites and, there is all the information, addresses of representative offices.

Buying tickets

Bus tickets are sold at the bus station, you can always leave.

Price

If travel agencies offer a ride for 100,000 dong (3.7 euros), then a bus ticket will cost about 50,000 dong or 1.7 euros.

By car

In Vietnam, driving is possible only if you have a Vietnamese driver's license (take a week to complete). For this reason, renting a car is very difficult. Often agencies offer rental with a driver, but I would recommend taking a regular taxi.

By taxi

You can find a taxi for 15 euros, and if you bargain well, it will be cheaper. Many drivers offer a roundtrip tour of all the attractions. In this case, discuss the itinerary, but pay only at the end of the trip. No prepayments! You can write the price that suits you on a piece of paper and walk around the parking lot.

Conclusion

I was in Da Nang for more than one day, so I was able to buy train tickets in advance. Upholstered armchairs, air conditioning, affordable price- what more could you want!

Fragrant River Cruises

Cruises on - required experience in Hue. Small authentic dragons cruise along the river - boats (which, by the way, at the same time as their tourist destination, often serve as a houseboat for their owners) and excursion boats - larger and more modern.

Renting a small boat costs about $ 10, a large one - about 20. The standard route is to and from the pagoda with the possibility of stopping at the Imperial Citadel (where on the way back from the pagoda you can leave the boat and explore the Imperial Citadel). You can also join organized river cruises.

Hue neighborhood

Along the river, 7-16 kilometers from the city, there are ancient complexes surrounded by magnificent parks. Each of the tombs is interesting in its own way, but visiting all the tombs can be an expensive pleasure, since the entrance to each of the tombs costs 5-8 dollars. Therefore, be careful when booking local area tours and long river cruises, as the cost of entering the grounds of the complexes is usually not included in the tours.

The best option for exploring the surrounding area in Hue (extra day) is to rent a motorbike or take a motorcycle tour. So, you can see one or two tombs (choose either Tu Duc or Minh Mang), see the countryside, go to hot springs and / or spend a couple of hours on the picturesque An Beach, which is 13 kilometers from Hue.
