- Several bars.

Step by step execution:
- First you need to prepare the bars. They need to be given the desired length by carefully trimming the ends. This must be done as smoothly as possible to avoid the tree swaying.
- The next step will be cutting out the grooves. This can be done using a chisel. The depth of the groove should be approximately half the thickness of the block.
- The resulting grooves must be covered with glue to securely fix the bars.
- Next, you need to assemble the cross.
- When the glue has completely set, the bars must be additionally secured with self-tapping screws. This is required to ensure the stability of the structure, since trees have considerable mass.
- The final stage is drilling a hole in the middle of the resulting cross. Its diameter should be equal to the diameter of the tree.
ATTENTION! If you don’t have bars at hand, you can replace them with boards or MDF. Since their thickness is much less than that of the bars, and it is not possible to drill a hole, you need to attach something to them to install the tree. To do this, you can take, for example, an aluminum coffee can. You also need a plate to which the jar will be attached.
In this case:
- the can needs to be welded to the plate;
- for greater stability, additional stiffeners need to be welded to it;
- the boards must be glued together;
- Next, using self-tapping screws, attach the plate with the can to a cross made of boards or MDF.
After this, the jar needs to be decorated beautifully, for example, with tinsel, or you can make decorative gifts and put them under the tree.
Christmas tree stand made of metal
If available necessary tools, the stand can be made of metal.
For this you will need a pipe and rods. The diameter of the pipe must match the diameter of the tree trunk. Procedure:
- The rods need to be fixed in a vice and using a hammer to give them the shape of future legs. This must be done extremely carefully to achieve maximum symmetry. Otherwise, the tree will sway after installation.

High-speed installation of a Christmas tree
A more innovative solution is to quickly install the Christmas tree using a bucket and plastic bottles(volume 1.5 - 2 liters). The essence of this method comes down to the fact that plastic bottles are filled with water (not to capacity) and installed vertically in a bucket around the perimeter in such a way as to provide clearance for installing the barrel. After this, the tree trunk is forcefully inserted into the cavity formed in the middle, and the tree is properly fixed in the bucket.
Essentially, the water bottles act as spacers and hold the tree trunk in position in the bucket. The advantages of this method are obvious:
- You can install a Christmas tree with any trunk diameter (by selecting plastic bottles of a certain size);
- Absolute cleanliness during work (unlike installation in sand, when this option There is absolutely no waste generated);
- Speed of work (you can install a Christmas tree without a cross using plastic bottles within a couple of minutes).
Watering such a tree is also not difficult and warm water is simply poured into a bucket (5cm from the bottom) and periodically added as needed.

We measure the thickness of the butt of the tree. (Since our hole is square, then the butt can, in principle, be cut and made square. But if you don’t have experience, it’s better not to. You can wear out the tree and be exhausted yourself)
We set aside this distance from the edge of each block. (It’s better to take a little less so that the butt grips well. My butt thickness is a little more than five centimeters. I set aside exactly five.) 
I immediately set aside the second distance, the line along which the bars will join. This is half the thickness of the bar.
Drill a couple of holes along the line for self-tapping screws. 
Since my timber is thick and the screws are not particularly long, the holes will have to be countersunk.
Done, ready to assemble.
This is what ended up happening. 
What's missing from this cross? Just like those sold on the market. For a tree to stand longer, it needs moisture. The butt must be in the water. Cut four cubes from the same block.
We drill, countersink, screw.

Shortly before the New Year, in many families, men will begin to think about how to secure a live Christmas tree at home. If the spruce is artificial, most often no questions arise. Old crosses, made of two slats with a hole in the middle, do not give the tree the necessary stability, and when there are small children in the house, this becomes the main requirement. Often, even an old crosspiece simply cannot be found among the many things that fill the pantry or basement.

In order to make a cross we will need:
- board;
- screws;
- hacksaw;
- drill;

To create the simplest cross for a Christmas tree, it is best to take a pine board, the thickness is best 2 cm.
We cut the board into four parts, each should be 300 mm long and 80 mm wide. The dimensions are based on the fact that the tree will be about two meters in height.
On each part we make a cut from the middle to the edge at an angle of 45°. On the other hand, we cut the ends at an angle of 5° (instead of the usual 90°, to make 85°). This is necessary so that when assembling our crosspiece there is a slight narrowing near the hole.
The cuttings should not be thrown away. They can be used as wedges to more securely fix the tree trunk.
After this, you should mark the holes through which the crosspiece parts will be fastened to each other. On each part it is necessary to make two marks located vertically relative to each other, and the axis on which the marks are made should also be inclined 5° from the vertical.
Drills holes according to the marks.
Thanks to the inclination of the holes taken into account in advance when assembling the cross, you will get a trapezoid-shaped hole for reliable fastening of the tree trunk.
We assemble the crosspiece using a screwdriver and screws.
To ensure that the cross does not wobble and that the middle is higher than the edges, we stuff small fiberboard plates onto the edges of the legs, securing them with a stapler.
When inserting the tree trunk into the crosspiece, we additionally wedge it with the remaining scraps of the board; if necessary, you can secure the trunk with frosts for stability.
