Knauf hydraulic isolation. Consumption and instructions for waterproofing "Knauf Flachendicht". Specifications

Compound: aqueous dispersion of synthetic latex and inert aggregates, blue color used for waterproofing wall and floor surfaces inside buildings.

Application

  • waterproofing of wet and damp premises (bathrooms, showers, as well as other premises);
  • waterproofing moisture-sensitive substrates (gypsum plaster, plasterboard and gypsum fiber sheets, gypsum screeds, blocks, slabs, etc.);
  • waterproofing of hygroscopic mineral substrates (lime, lime-cement and cement plasters, cement boards, cement screeds, concrete, porous concrete, etc.);
  • waterproofing before laying ceramic tiles and natural stone (in combination with Knauf-Flechendichtband and tile adhesives on cement base, for example, KNAUF-Flex), including when installing heated floors and walls.

Restrictions

Knauf-Flähendicht must not be used under permanent load with stagnant water, e.g. drinking water, wells, swimming pools, etc.

Consumption per 1 m2

Composition consumption for two-layer application:

  • for smooth bases - 0.7-1.0 kg/m2
  • for rough, porous bases - 0.9-1.4 kg/m2

Work order (instruction)

Knauf-Flahendicht waterproofing is applied over the entire surface in at least two coats undiluted with a brush, brush or roller on a completely dry primed substrate.

Preliminarily, the joints of the walls, walls and floor should be treated with KNAUF-Flehendichtband and put the Knauf-Flehendichtband waterproofing tape into a still fresh layer of waterproofing, smooth out the waterproofing that has come through the mesh base of the tape with a spatula. When using self-adhesive hydro insulating tape, it is laid on the dried first layer of waterproofing before applying the second. Pipelines and bends in the floor are similarly insulated using sealing cuffs.

The first layer of waterproofing is applied without gaps over the entire surface to be treated. The second, and if necessary the third layer, should be applied only after the previous one has completely dried. The minimum exposure time is about 3 hours (at +20°C and 50% humidity). With more high humidity and lower temperatures, the drying time may be longer. Three coats are recommended for porous substrates. The minimum amount of material consumption should be observed - a thick layer of waterproofing dries very slowly, therefore it is necessary to apply several thin layers, with each drying, before applying the next.

Bonding ceramic tiles can only be done on the dried surface of the waterproofing, but not earlier than 12 hours (at +20°C and 50% humidity) after applying the last layer.

The gluing of tiles must be carried out with a waterproof, elastic adhesive, for example, Knauf-Flex (it is important to observe the recommended thickness of the adhesive layer - no more than 5 mm). The size of the side of the tile when laying it on a surface treated with waterproofing should not exceed 33 cm. Ready-made dispersion tile adhesives, due to the long setting time, are not suitable for application on Knauf-Flachendicht waterproofing (tile "floats").

Modern manufacturers building materials strive to provide their customers with all the necessary goods. Such organizations include the company Knauf (Germany). This is a universal manufacturer that produces materials of various composition and purpose. One of the company's most popular products is Knauf Flahendicht waterproofing.

Characteristics and types

Waterproofing "Knauf Flahendicht" is a polymer in the form of an aqueous dispersion on a synthetic latex basis. Various inert aggregates are included as additives. Possesses blue color. Does not contain solvents. After contact with the surface, they form a waterproof elastic film.

The composition is applied in a layer 1.1 mm thick, which after drying has a thickness of 0.8 mm. Usually several layers are used. Moreover, the next layer is applied 3 hours after the previous one (at a temperature of 20 degrees and an air humidity of 50%). Laying tiles is allowed after 12 hours after the Knauf Flahendicht waterproofing has been applied.

Consumption per 1 m2 is 700-1000 grams. This applies to materials with a smooth surface. For coatings with a more porous structure, the value increases to 900-1400 g/m 2 . Accordingly, one layer of material will require 350-700 g / m 2 (depending on the type of base). With this in mind, a package weighing 5 kg will be enough to waterproof 3.5-5.5 m 2 of the surface. The dried material can withstand temperatures from minus 20 to plus 80 degrees.

Waterproofing "Knauf Flahendicht" can be of two types:

  • Acrylic dispersion from Knauf Flahendicht. The price for a package weighing 5 kg is 1160 rubles.
  • Mastic rubber-bitumen. Cost - 1950 rubles for 5 kg.

The material is stored for 18 months in a tightly closed package.

Application area

Waterproofing mixtures Knauf can be used as waterproofing:

  1. Premises with high humidity and dampness. For example, a bathroom.
  2. Surfaces not resistant to moisture. We are talking about those based on gypsum.
  3. Hygroscopic mineral substrates: plasters based on cement or lime. Concrete also falls into this category.
  4. as a waterproofing layer ceramic tiles or natural stone, including for laying a warm floor.

Do not use the material in places where there is a constant load arising from water pressure. This refers to liquid containers, pools, etc. Knauf waterproofing can be applied to any type of surface:

  • Floors in wet areas.
  • Gypsum bases.
  • Roofs, balconies, attics.
  • In pools and showers under the tiles.
  • On slopes.
  • Internal and external surfaces.

Features of acrylic waterproofing

Water-based acrylic dispersion "Knauf" is used for:

  1. Waterproofing bases that strongly absorb water.
  2. In humid rooms for separating filtered liquid.
  3. On mineral surfaces.
  4. On wooden materials.

It is used in the temperature range of 5-25 degrees. At the same time, they cannot process bases on which moisture constantly gets.

Rubber-bitumen mastic

This material has the following properties:

  • The product does not contain solvents and is completely safe for humans.
  • Has good adhesion.
  • Allowed to be applied to metal surfaces even when corroded.

Applies when:

  1. It is necessary to waterproof the surface before laying tiles, including in swimming pools.
  2. Waterproofing of the roof, balconies, terraces is done.
  3. It is necessary to protect the underbody of the car or other metal structures from corrosion.

Using Knauf waterproofing

Waterproofing "Knauf Flahendicht" is applied only to previously prepared surfaces. To do this, the base is cleaned of dirt, dust, oil or paint stains. If necessary, all cracks are puttied, irregularities are smoothed out. After that, the surface is primed and dried.

It is applied in two layers (if necessary, more are allowed, for example, on porous substrates) with a brush or roller. The layer should be thin and uniform and not go beyond the limits specified by the manufacturer (no more than 1.1 mm). Material consumption does not increase. Waterproofing is applied to the surface from the side from which moisture acts.

In the corners where the walls are connected to the floor or ceiling, as well as to each other, an insulating tape is laid on the still damp waterproofing layer. The mixture that has come through its cells is leveled. When using a self-adhesive tape, it is laid before applying the second layer on an already dried surface. Existing pipes, bends are insulated with sealing cuffs. Waterproofing "Knauf Flahendicht" is used at a temperature of 5 to 25 degrees. Cured material can only be removed mechanically. Therefore, all tools are washed immediately after work is completed.

Coating waterproofing Knauf Flachendicht (Flehendicht) is used for the installation of a waterproofing membrane in rooms before laying facing tiles. It is recommended for the installation of an elastic waterproofing layer in newly built buildings with incomplete shrinkage. Can be used in bathrooms, toilets, showers, kitchens. Possesses the increased elasticity after hardening.

Mastic Knauf Flachendicht has excellent elasticity and increased adhesion, it is able to cover hairline cracks up to 2 mm wide. It is a blue liquid paste. It consists of an aqueous dispersion of a latex base and a complex of special additives and fillers to increase physical properties. A color indicator has been added to the mastic blue tint, for better control of the degree of processing and layer thickness.

Advantages of waterproofing Knauf Flachendicht (Flehendicht)

  • Eco-friendly, consists of natural ingredients, does not emit harmful fumes;
  • Economical, applied in a thin layer, low consumption;
  • Elastic, can bridge cracks up to 2 mm;
  • Fast curing, after 12 hours you can glue the tiles.

Technical properties

Packing - a bucket of 5 kg;
Consumption - depends on the absorbency of the base, from 350 to 700 g per 1 sq.m with a layer thickness of 1 mm;

Foundation preparation

The surface must be leveled, all cracks, seams, joints and abutments must be sealed with cement repair mortars. Treat the entire surface with a primer or with a diluted Flachendicht solution in a ratio of 1:4 with water.

Application

Liquid coating waterproofing is supplied ready for use, does not require preparation and dilution. Immediately before use, it is necessary to mix the mastic until a homogeneous paste is obtained. Flachendicht waterproofing can be applied on a pre-primed surface, with any convenient way, paint brush, roller, spatula, large surfaces can be treated with an airless sprayer.

Corners and expansion joints are recommended to be closed together with waterproofing tape. The tape is glued to the mastic, and covered with a continuous layer simultaneously with the entire surface. The waterproofing membrane can be applied in several layers, with intermediate drying of each layer for at least 3 hours. It is enough to apply 2 layers, if necessary, 3 layers are allowed.

When it comes to the need to waterproof any surface, one of the first materials to look at is Knauf products. Waterproofing Knauf Flachendicht (Flachendicht) - this is the name of the material from this manufacturer.

The use of such a composition is very popular among people who independently make repairs in their homes. The products are easy to use, relatively inexpensive, and at the same time very effective.

Features and types of products

The product is a synthetic latex-based polymer, to which various inerts are added. The material does not contain solvents, and after hardening it forms a waterproof elastic film on the treated surface. Designed to cover the following surfaces and structures:

  • gypsum bases (blocks, slabs, plastered surfaces);
  • rooms with high humidity (baths, saunas, swimming pools, showers, basements);
  • roofs, terraces, balconies, mansards;
  • swimming pools, showers without pallets (applied before tiling);
  • metal structures (to prevent corrosion);
  • walls inside and outside;
  • floors;
  • window slopes inside and out.

In fact, the material can be applied anywhere - any surface that requires protection from moisture can be covered with this product.

Knauf Flahendicht waterproofing is available in two versions:

  1. Acrylic water-based dispersion.

Knauf Flahendicht waterproofing mastic (rubber-bitumen) is used if it is necessary to waterproof the base before laying the tiles, open balconies or terraces, as well as before tiling pools.

In addition, this mixture is used to protect against external corrosive effects. metal structures outside the building or under the vehicle.

Acrylic-dispersed waterproofing composition Flachendicht Knauf is used if it is necessary to isolate a surface that absorbs moisture strongly: plaster, drywall or gypsum boards, screeds.

Also, this mixture isolates cement screeds and cement-based plasters, concrete or brickwork, wood slabs.

Knauf Flahendicht waterproofing in the form of an acrylic-dispersed mixture is made taking into account the fact that it is not used when outdoor decoration or for surface treatment that is constantly in direct contact with moisture.

Coating waterproofing Knauf in the form of rubber-bitumen mastic does not have this drawback, and can be applied even on a wet base.

Despite the fact that work using these mixtures cannot be carried out at sub-zero temperatures, after complete drying, the waterproofing layer retains its properties even at -20º.

It should also be noted the vapor impermeability of this type of waterproofing, which allows the use of these mixtures when processing the roof of a room with an intensive release of water vapor (for example, a kitchen or sauna).

Separately, it should be noted the waterproofing tape - Knauf Flahendichtband. A polyester-based elastomer, it is ideally combined with a coating composition and is used for additional sealing of joints, seams and corners.

It can also be used to glue cracks previously sealed with plaster or putty.

The tape has a thickness of 12 cm, the waterproof layer itself passes in the middle. Its width is 7 cm.

Material Application

The material is ready mix which only needs to be mixed before use. Application is made with a slightly damp roller (or brush). The air temperature when working with the material should be from +5º to +25º.

The work is carried out in three stages:

  1. Cleaning the treated surface from dirt, dust.
  2. Sealing cracks, seams, chips, holes.
  3. Ideally, the surface should be pre-primed - to increase the efficiency of the work carried out.
  4. Application of waterproofing (optimally - in 2-3 layers, each subsequent one is applied after the previous one has completely dried, preferably not less than 10-12 hours later).
  5. In the first layer, immediately after application, a waterproofing tape is applied.
  6. Further Finishing work(of course - after the complete drying of the waterproofing - preferably at least 10 hours).

Both for the rubber-bitumen mixture and for the acrylic-dispersed mixture, the initial stage of work is cleaning the surface to be treated. Both of these mixtures can be applied with a brush, trowel or roller.

Knauf acrylic-dispersed waterproofing requires that the surface to be treated be primed before application (for this, the base mixture can be diluted with water in a ratio of one to four).

Then the mixture is applied in several layers, each of which must dry (this takes about 3 hours). The mixture has significant adhesion to any base. Laying of tiled material can be started 12 hours after the mixture has completely dried.

The rubber-bitumen mixture is thoroughly mixed before application, then joints or cracks are treated with the mixture (if there is high humidity or work is carried out at low temperature). The surface to be treated is evenly covered with a mixture of at least two layers.

The drying time is 3 hours, but if the humidity is high this time should be increased. Also, the number of layers should be increased if the base has strong absorbent properties. After drying, you can start laying the tiles (for this you should use a tile adhesive based on a dry mix).

For example, Knauf bathroom waterproofing will include elements of complex waterproofing, when, in addition to the selected waterproofing mixture, other products from this manufacturer are also used: specialized tile adhesive or Knauf waterproofing tape.

The consumption of Knauf Flahendicht waterproofing, according to the manufacturer's specification, is up to 900 g / m 2 if the base is even, and up to 1400 g / m 2 - if an uneven base is processed. This refers to the Knauf Flahendicht waterproofing (5 kg per pack), rubber-bitumen mixture.
