How to properly install a flow hood over a gas stove? At what height can the hood be hung above the stove (electric, gas): rules and regulations

In any modern kitchen there is a place for a ventilation device. The distance from the stove to the hood determines the effective operation of this design.

Types of exhaust hoods and their purpose

Hood protects kitchen space and furniture from contamination with the smallest particles of grease and impregnation with a mixture of various odors. No one will be pleased to feel from the curtains or from upholstery chairs unpleasant odor, which can also penetrate into other living rooms.

All devices according to the principle of operation are divided into:

  • circulating (with built-in filter);
  • hoods with an air duct (connected to the ventilation system).

In circulating models, the air is cleaned with a carbon filter and returned to the kitchen. Such hoods are effective only in small rooms where there is no possibility for installing an air duct, and the distance between the stove and the hood should be small.

The second type is characterized by better work, since the air is completely removed from the room. Installed in large rooms.

Types of exhaust devices:

Where should the extractor be located?

When buying a hood, along with it, the kit always comes with instructions for use, which indicates where and at what distance from the stove the device should be located. The exhaust structure can be built into the wall cabinet, or it can be located under it, the main thing is that its size matches the dimensions hob, and it hung exactly above the stove. Also, even before purchasing the hood, you need to consult with experts about its power. For example, a small appliance will not fit a large kitchen space, but small kitchen there is no need to install a very powerful unit.

How to determine the optimal distance from the hob to the exhaust device?

The distance from the stove to the hood is determined by the established standard. If there is an electric stove in the kitchen, then the exhaust hatch should be located at least 65-75 cm from it, and if the hood is above gas stove, the distance between them is 75-85 cm. In the case when the device has an inclined surface, the installation parameters change slightly:

  • the distance from the gas stove to the hood is reduced to 55-65 cm;
  • the height above the electric hob is reduced to 35-45 cm.

You also need to take into account the height of the person who will be most of all at the stove, and the overall interior of the kitchen.

Why is it necessary to comply with the standards for installing an exhaust hatch?

These are the optimal parameters for mounting the hood, contributing to its efficient operation. It is not recommended to reduce or increase them. With a high location of the device, its air absorption capacity may not be enough, then odors, together with fat droplets, will quickly spread everywhere. Installing the hood low may interfere with the cooking process. So it will not only be inconvenient to approach the gas / electric stove and put high pots, but there is a risk of heating the structure, igniting it and damaging the paintwork.

Thus, the question of what distance from the stove to the hood should be can be answered unambiguously: 75-85 cm in the case of a gas stove, and 65-75 cm above an electric stove.

Factors affecting the location of the exhaust structure

When buying and subsequent installation of the hood, the following factors should be considered:

  1. Type of hob. The distance between the hood and the gas stove or electric stove needs to be calculated?
  2. The declared power of the device.
  3. Design / interior of the kitchen.
  4. Compliance with the installation standards for the ventilation hatch specified in the data sheet.

Compliance with these conditions for the installation and operation of ventilation equipment will allow you to maximize the use of the device and protect the kitchen from unpleasant odors and grease.

Rules for installing ventilation equipment

Optimum performance of the instrument depends on the following factors and installation rules:

  • devices must comply. Then all the hot polluted air flow will be completely sucked up by the hood and taken out into the street or cleaned through the filter and fed back to the kitchen. Standard sizes the device is from 60 to 90 cm.
  • Properly installed hood over the stove. The distance from the appliance to the stove must not be contrary to the norms fire safety and depends on the type of plate. The required distance from the stove to the hood is always indicated in the instrument's data sheet.
  • Connecting the device to the network.
  • Installation of exhaust pipes, if required by the design of the exhaust hood.

Installation of ventilation equipment is best left to professionals. But for those who are confident in their abilities, it will not be difficult to hang the device with their own hands.

It is not difficult to install a hood with a circulation type of work. First you need to measure its height and mark it with control points. Then you should drill holes in the wall for the fasteners. Next, the device is mounted to the wall or to wall cabinets using self-tapping screws and special hooks included in the kit.

Hoods of another type of air purification are installed in the same way as circulation hoods. Only here it is already necessary to attach the air pipe to the umbrella body. The pipe can be plastic or foil.

Upon completion of the installation of the equipment, it is necessary to conduct a control check of its operation (mainly for the second type of models). If the hood does not function or is too noisy, it is worth re-checking all the connections of the device with ventilation pipes, their integrity.

Air duct arrangement

The air duct must not be large quantity bends, as this will significantly complicate the removal of polluted air. It is desirable that the pipes are short, straight and contain a small number of elbows. Changing the direction of the duct is carried out in a place with a large bend radius. The diameter of the outlet pipe must match the opening in the design of the exhaust device. It is not recommended to deliberately narrow the holes and mount additional connecting elements between them. This makes it difficult for the free flow of air, respectively, creates a large load on the operating engine of the hood. There may be excessive noise.

Most often, these structures are made of thick foil, and then masked with PVC boxes / drywall, so as not to disturb the interior of the room.

Where should the outlet for the hood be located?

The electrical outlet for connecting the exhaust hatch is usually installed at a height of 2-2.5 m above the floor. Thus, it should be located 10-20 cm above the wall cabinets. It is also shifted to the left or right of the duct by 15-20 cm.

Conclusion

In the article above, the types ventilation devices, at what distance from the stove to hang the hood, ways to clean the air.

With proper installation of the exhaust device, the device will provide fresh air indoors and the cleanliness of the surrounding interior items. When choosing and buying an umbrella, it is necessary to take into account the correspondence of its power to the cubic capacity of the kitchen, appearance, as well as methods of air purification: complete exhaust through an air duct or circulation of purified flows.

The main points for installing a specific model of the device and the distance from the stove to the hood are described in the instructions. Generally accepted norms for determining the installation height of the device: from 75 to 85 cm for gas stoves; from 65 to 75 cm for installation above electric stoves.

Correctly arranged ventilation in the apartment high-rise building or private housing construction - a guarantee of well-being of residents, fresh air in the premises. It is composed, like all engineering systems, of several elements. If each of them works properly, this will affect the comfortable microclimate in the house. The kitchen is one of the main objects where good ventilation should be in the first place.

Kitchen ventilation

What does “good ventilation” mean in a kitchen? It is clear that modern kitchen is a whole set kitchen appliances, which facilitates the hostess cooking. This includes: stove, oven, microwave, toaster, slow cooker, bread maker and other "helpers". To prevent various odors from entering other rooms from the kitchen, you need to equip it with high-quality ventilation system. It can be general or local.

  • General exchange provides air exchange of the entire kitchen room. It can be supply, exhaust, supply and exhaust and is focused on removing odors, burning, excess moisture.
  • Local - relieves the room of odors from the immediate place. For the kitchen, this is a hood that is installed directly above the hob. Such a device as a kitchen umbrella is often installed in private homes, where large kitchen areas or they are connected to the dining room, or where food is often cooked.

Important! Whatever type of ventilation is chosen, it is necessary to remember about its supply and exhaust purpose. That is, arranging the hood, take care of the influx of fresh air.

Types of kitchen hoods

Variety of exhaust units in supermarkets household appliances simply amazing! But here the most important thing is not to succumb to emotions and not to choose a "designer" thing, but to pre-calculate the power, and then beauty and design. Also, when installing it, the height of the installation of the hood above the stove must be observed. In this context, other important aspects appear:

  • types of cookers (running on gas, electricity or induction);
  • required (calculated) power;
  • connection to exhaust ventilation;
  • cooking surface length.

Hoods are divided into 2 types: flow and circulation. The flow sucks in air, it passes through the filters, is removed into air vent. Its correct installation is important, more often it is entrusted to specialists. The design of the supply unit includes carbon filters for cleaning the retracted masses from fat and soot. One of the inconveniences of such a hood is that during its operation there is a slight decrease in temperature in the kitchen.

Circulation devices suck in polluted air masses, drive them through cleaning filters and return them back. It is clear that the filters in such appliances periodically require replacement, otherwise, poorly purified air will return to the kitchen.

Installing a hood over a stove: general requirements

It is important how correctly the hood is placed above the hob. The importance is the safety and efficiency of its work. After all, housewives often lean over the stove to see what is being done in a pot or pan. Therefore, in order to avoid creating a fire situation, the hood must be hung so that lunch or dinner is cooked on time and the cook does not get injured. So, installing a hood over electric stove(average) should be at least 65 cm, and above the gas - at least 75 cm.

Important! When mounting the hood, take into account its power, the size and design of the kitchen, the height of the home cook. If necessary, you can raise the unit a little, but you can’t lower it!

Installation height of the kitchen hood above the gas stove

Special requirements are imposed on devices installed above a gas stove. The distance from the unit to the lower edge of the burners is measured. Installation should be carried out accurately, as it is correct, then nothing will succeed. It must be remembered that the air outlet to the kitchen vent must not be blocked. Since when the hood is turned off, natural ventilation should work.

You can hang the hood over a gas stove within 75-85 cm. This distance is somewhat larger than over an electric or induction one. The reason for this is the open fire of gas burners, which can ignite the filters, with soot and grease deposited on them.

Highly important aspect hoods is their capacity. Careful consideration is required prior to purchase. Let's give an example of calculating the hood, which will be installed above the gas hob.

Kitchen dimensions: height - 2.7 m, length - 4.25 m, width - 3.15 m. The approved air exchange rate is 12, the standard sanitary coefficient is 1.3. We calculate the volume of the room 4.25x3.15x2.7 \u003d 36.15 cubic meters. Performance 36.15x12x1.3 \u003d 565 W. If the kitchen is combined with the dining room, then the hood power increases by 30%. For each "turn" of the chimney, add 10%. For our example - 565 + 30% + 10% + 10% = 890 watts.

Important! Choose a hood with a power not lower than that found by calculation. Otherwise, the unit will not cope with the volumes unpleasant odors, excess moisture. And the soot and fat will settle on kitchen furniture.

Installation height of the hood above the electric stove and induction cooker

Mounting the hood over an electric or induction hob, the height can be slightly reduced, since these stoves are safer to use than gas stoves. In addition, you can adjust the distance, taking into account the specifics of the design of the device itself. So, island hoods are mounted to the ceiling; corner - in the corner;, dome, fireplace - on the wall; built-in - in a hanging cabinet; flat - back panel to the wall. The installation height of the inclined hood is different from others. It can be installed above an electric and induction hob at a height of 35-45 cm.

in kitchens with small size, experts and designers recommend installing built-in or flat models. In addition to convenience, flat units are classified as budget models. By choosing a device with the required power, you get rid of kitchen odors in the entire apartment.

Important! When choosing a hood for the kitchen, it is necessary to take into account the size of the hob. So, its length cannot be less than the length of the plate. Otherwise, from the missing gaps, fumes, soot, fat will accumulate on the surfaces of kitchen furniture, household appliances, crockery.

Why you need to adhere to a certain mounting height

Any self-respecting manufacturer attaches installation and operation rules to its products. These instructions describe in detail how to properly position the hood above the hob. By adhering to all the requirements, the consumer can be sure of the trouble-free operation of the device for a long time. The wrong location can lead to a fire, interfere with cooking, and simply has an unaesthetic appearance. If the unit is mounted high, it will not be able to effectively capture fumes and fumes.

The position of the outlet to turn on depends on how far from the hob the hood will be located. Basically it is installed above the device.

The functional abilities of house exhaust ventilation ducts almost always left much to be desired. They did not cope with their main task - pulling exhaust air and unpleasant odors out of the kitchen. That is why such useful and necessary devices, like hoods, which acted much more efficiently than channels. When planning to mount new kitchen equipment, many people think at what height to hang the hood? Does it matter. The height at which the device will be fixed often determines the performance and quality of its operation.

The design of a standard hood

You can more accurately represent the location of the hood if you at least understand a little about its device. The standard hood consists of the following elements:

  • Steel case;
  • Engine;
  • Engine impeller;
  • Filter;
  • Control device.

You can set the modes for the operation of the hood. There are only two of them - filtration (recirculation) and air outlet to the ventilation duct.

Hood types

There are four main types of kitchen hoods:

  1. Wall-mounted fume hoods;
  2. Island hoods;
  3. Embedded structures;
  4. Desktop devices.

The first type has the form of an umbrella with a pipe, which is fixed on the wall where it is clearly visible. Therefore, its design should be suitable for the interior of the kitchen. Outwardly, it is very reminiscent of a chimney from a fireplace.

Island-type devices are most often attached to the ceiling. They are used if the interior of the kitchen is thought out so that the stove is in the center of the room. This model works only in one mode, according to the principle of air removal.

Built-in appliances are placed inside cabinets. They are hidden from view, so they can not be finished too carefully. Their technical characteristics are not worse than those of other models, but they cost a little less.

Desktop structures are built into the hob itself. They look like another panel section. Due to the fact that this model is located in close proximity to the source of dirty air, the quality of cleaning is usually on top.

How to determine the height of the hood mounting

Very often, in order to determine the optimal mounting height of the hood, just look at the instructions for this device model. Usually, not a certain distance is indicated, but a range within which the exhaust equipment for the kitchen should be placed.

In this case, one should take into account such important facts as the growth of the hostess of the apartment and the features of the interior of the kitchen. But even if the instructions are lost, there is another way out. There are standards, thanks to which you can more clearly determine at what height the kitchen hood should be placed above hob, or a plate.

It is necessary to take into account the type of hob, each type has its own measurements. So, at what height is it recommended to hang the hood:

  • Above the gas stove it is placed at a height of 75-85 cm,
  • Above electric stoves - at a height of 65-75 cm.

If you have chosen an inclined model, then the distance from its bottom to the hob should be approximately 55-65 cm for gas stoves, and about 35-45 cm for electric stoves.

The height may vary, but only within the specified 10 cm, and also depending on the power of a particular model and its specifications. These restrictions should not be neglected, not only the quality of equipment operation, but also the safety of work, in particular fire safety, depends on these indicators.

Basic rules for installing the hood

Better operation of the device is possible only if the hood completely covers the surface of the stove. In this case, the polluted air will be almost completely absorbed, and its leakage will be minimal. This is the main reason why customers prefer models with a wider umbrella, from 60 to 90 cm. This size corresponds to the size of a standard slab or panel.

The height of the exhaust hood is determined in accordance with ergonomic rules and fire safety standards. The shorter the distance from the umbrella to the hob, the better the kitchen fumes and bad odors will be absorbed. But at the same time, the height should not be too low, otherwise the risk of damage to the ventilation system is high. This can happen due to overheating or even ignition of a greasy film that forms on the surface of the filter.

Therefore, for safety reasons, the minimum distance from the stove to the umbrella should be about 50-65 cm. The values may vary slightly. Often the optimal installation height of the hood is indicated in the data sheet. For reasons of ergonomics, it should be located so as not to interfere with cooking.

Hood mounting options

There are several mounting methods. The first involves placing the exhaust device inside a hanging cabinet, which has no bottom. An exhaust device is attached to the central shelf. In the same shelf, as well as in the ceiling of the cabinet, holes are made for the outlet of the hose.

One end of the hose is attached to the hood, and the other is pushed into the holes and led out into the ventilation duct. In filtration mode, the hose is cut off when exiting a hole in the ceiling of the cabinet.

The built-in type of hood is mounted according to the scheme, which is presented in the instructions for it. The model is designed for installation in a box or in a hanging cabinet.

Hood attached to the bottom of the cabinet

At the bottom kitchen cabinet, and also make a hole for the hose in the ceiling shelf. To vent to the ventilation, the hose is brought to the very opening of the ventilation vent.

For the filtering mode, it is cut off at the exit from the opening of the ceiling shelf of the cabinet. The hood is hidden behind the panel, the material for it is the material identical to that from which the cabinet doors are made.

Mounting the hood in a hanging cabinet

A hole is made in the bottom of the cabinet, the size of which corresponds to the size kitchen hood. The hood island is hidden in a locker. Fastening is carried out using holes in the bottom edge, with which the hood is screwed to the bottom of the cabinet.

In the shelf located in the middle of the cabinet, as well as in the ceiling, holes are made for the passage of a hose, one end of which is attached to the hood, and the other is pushed into the hole in the central shelf and ceiling. In the mode when the air is discharged into the ventilation vent, the hose is led into it, and in the filtration mode, on the contrary, it is cut off near the exit from the hole.

Rules for installing a hood with an air duct

This type of installation provides a duct with a larger diameter and without bends. Air ducts should be made of foil with a greater thickness, thin foil will rustle with air movements. And PVC boxes are more flexible, their use is even more profitable. It is better if their shape is round and without bends. They have excellent sound insulation and do not resist air.

In no case do not narrow the passage for air, do not cling to adapters that will delay it. The required volume of air must pass in a certain period of time. If there are obstacles and narrow sections on the way, the hood motor will increase speed. Because of this, it wears out more, excess noise is created in the duct.

When connecting the hood to the ventilation shaft, filtering mode is used to overcome these obstacles. In order for dirty air to leave more efficiently kitchen room, there is an extreme way - to do this through hole in the wall above the hood surface.

You can beautifully decorate such a device with the help of PVC boxes. You can mask a flexible duct using such a drywall box.

Unfortunately, people do not always remember that fume hoods also need to be cleaned, so grease and dust accumulate on them. If the height when installing the hood does not reach 80 cm, then the filter may ignite from the open flame of the furnace.

In any case, for safety reasons, a household hood must be provided good grounding. Due to constant power surges in the network, its engine or electronic control unit may burn out. Another problem is that due to heating, spontaneous activation of the exhaust equipment may occur. Most people still decide to purchase a modern hood, which is becoming one of the most important devices in the kitchen, ridding the space of unpleasant odors and waste.

The kitchen is a complex space that is subjected to numerous daily loads. And in order for the air in the room to always be fresh, it is necessary to carefully consider ventilation and be sure to install an exhaust hood. It will work effectively in one case: if you correctly calculate the distance from the stove to the hood. Improper installation will not hinder cooking, but will make the appliance completely useless. Therefore, it is so important to know what types of hoods exist, what installation conditions are important to observe during installation.

Design features of exhaust systems

The principle of operation of the described device is extremely simple: the design provides a forced intake of dirty air and its purification from the products of combustion of gas, smell, smoke components that are formed during cooking. What is an extractor? This is a device that has a housing, a panel that provides air intake, a certain set of filters and a forced ventilation element.

All systems according to the principle of operation can be divided into two large groups:

  • Appliances by the type of device on the forced air outlet outside the kitchen. Such an installation, located above the hob, ensures the complete removal of burning and soot, but to create a comfortable microclimate, it is important to carefully consider the flow of fresh air. Before deciding how to hang the hood, it is necessary to think over such technical points.
  • The circulation principle of operation does not remove dirty air from the room, but cleans it with the help of a filter system and returns it back to the room. This cleaning takes a lot of time, but for its functioning it is not necessary to install an additional string of additional technical highways.

Note! Both systems are represented by several models. The correct installation height of the hood above the stove is calculated taking into account the design features of the described devices.

Types of exhaust systems

Hanging installation has a flat shape, it is attached to the bottom of the shelf kitchen set directly above the electric stove or gas burner. Inside the structure, there must be fans that provide the process of suction of polluted air. It is passed through filters and cleaned, the distance between the stove and the hood during installation hanging model can vary between 65-75 cm for electric stoves and 75-85 cm for gas hobs.

A built-in appliance is part of a cabinet or dome that is installed directly above the hob. Such design feature makes the described device completely invisible. When choosing such a model, it is important to purchase one of them, the width of which will exactly match the width of the plate and the width of the kitchen cabinet. The distance between two objects is calculated according to standard parameters (more on them below). When choosing this design option, it is important to discuss such a design feature with furniture manufacturers even when ordering a kitchen.

Note! The described installation can also be built directly into the countertop, immediately behind the stove. With this combination, the width of the countertop must be at least 90 cm.

The wall-mounted version is an independent element of kitchen equipment that is attached to the wall above the hob. When choosing it, it is important to know that the distance is measured from the bottom edge of the hood panel. The minimum allowable indicator is 35 cm, the maximum distance from the stove to the wall air intake should be no more than 45 cm. Otherwise, the hood simply cannot cope with the tasks.

The corner model is designed for mounting the hood in the corner of the room.

Island systems are mounted to the ceiling in the center of a large spacious kitchen. They are selected when the stove is located in the middle of the room. The system is mounted directly above it, the hood should be at a distance within the existing minimum or maximum. The main thing is that the hostess herself does not touch her head to the body of the exhaust system.

The choice of model largely depends on the distance between the tile and the hood according to the layout of the location of the headset. As a rule, each manufacturer in the technical data sheet of his product indicates the recommended parameters for the height of the hood from the stove. Experts point out that such instructions must be zealously observed. What to do in the event that such parameters are not indicated in the technical passport of the product? You can try to calculate the distance from the gas stove to the hood yourself, given whole line certain settings. Let's designate the main ones.

How to calculate distance?

When deciding at what height the hood can be hung, it is necessary to put the safety of using two devices in the first place. As a rule, hood casings are made of plastic or metal. In order to prevent the possibility of spontaneous combustion of the hood housing, it must be installed at a distance of 65-70 cm from the hob.

The air purifier should not interfere with the hostess, cooking, using tall large pots.

The upper limit of the extraction distance from a gas stove or electric model should be able to draw air from the most polluted layers of air above the hob.

In many ways, the height of the hood above the gas stove and electric hob also depends on the power of the device itself, the area of \u200b\u200bits air intake. It is clear that it makes no sense to hang a low-power device (300 cubic meters / h) high. But powerful hoods in the kitchen (more than 600 cubic meters / h) can be hung, exceeding the average recommended figures.

The power of the hood must be calculated, taking into account the area of \u200b\u200bthe kitchen and the height of the ceilings. Calculations are made according to certain formula: The area of the room is multiplied by the height of the ceilings. So, for example, if the kitchen has an area of 6 sq.m., and the ceiling height is 2.5 m, the hood power must be at least 234 cubic meters / h.

Another parameter that must be taken into account when calculating the distance between the hob and the air intake is the air intake area. Its width should not be less than the width of the tile.

Summarizing such information, it is easy to indicate the lower and upper parameters.

  • You can broadcast the air intake above the electric stove at a distance of 65-75 cm.
  • But the norm for a gas hob with four burners is 75-90 cm.
  • If the installation of the hood involves its inclined position, then allowable rate the low limit is 55 cm, the high one is 65 cm. It is impossible to raise the device higher, since it will not be able to completely cover and take in all the polluted air.

Note! The figures given are average values. It is also important to consider the height of a person. If a person is tall, you can hang the hood even higher than 90 cm, but then you will have to purchase a more powerful device.

Where is the outlet for the hood located?

When deciding at what height to hang the hood, it is important to think in advance where to place the outlet for it. There are no clear instructions here, the main thing is that access to such a technical element is open and free.

If the described device is built into furniture, it is better to install a socket for it above the cabinet at a distance of 5 cm from top bar facade. To hide the element, you can hide the socket in a plastic casing.

Generalization on the topic

So, answering the question at what distance from the stove should the hood be installed, experts pay attention to the need to observe existing norms, corresponding to the safety of operation of both devices. Any deviation from the rules will make the operation of the described system useless. Any decrease in the location can lead to the risk of spontaneous combustion of the installation, to a decrease in the comfort level of working with the hob.

When it comes to mounting a range hood, it's not just about hanging and connecting the unit correctly.

Before this, you need to correctly select the distance between the hood and cooker. The correctness of the calculation depends on how efficiently the device will work.

Consider below the basic rules for solving this issue.

Briefly about standards and rules: for those who do not want to read a lot of details

To begin, let's briefly summarize the main rules and standards - if someoneneed to quickly find out at what height the device is installed, or if notgo into details.

Distance standards pendants are:

Of necessity ( if the user is tall), the height can be slightly increased. How much increase is allowed - is written in the instructions for each my product . Usually this range is 5-10 centimeters.

Why is it important to choose the right distance from the stove to the hood?

A certain installation height is chosen for a reason: if it is chosen correctly, then the hood will work efficiently. And vice versa: if the mounting distance is not chosen correctly, then the device will work less efficiently, and it will not be so convenient to use the stove.

If you mount the device too low:

    it will be inconvenient for a person to use the stove (especially if he is tall);

    there is a risk of fire: the soot and dust deposited on the filters can ignite from open fire (the probability of this is very low, but still available);

    removing the filters for cleaning will be less convenient.

If the hood is placed too high, it will be more difficult for it to retractsteam and smell from the stove. Because of this, the device will need to be turned on at a higher speed, which will lead to more noise, more electricity consumption and a greater likelihood of breakdown.

At honor: there are no strict standards according to GOST for apartment hoods. All recommended sizes are calculated by the manufacturer: for the most comfortable, safe and efficient operation of the equipment.

How to measure the distance correctly?

Do you know what distance you need to measure between?

It is necessary to measure:

  • for an inclined model: from the lowest part to the burners (hob);
  • in the "normal" (built-in, domed, T-shaped, flat): from the filter to the burners (hob).

Without fail, measure not only the distance from the hood to the stove - you also need to figure out how convenient it will be for you to use the device. To do this, stand in front of the countertop and imagine where the hood will be placed. At the same time, consider not only the height, but also the depth of the case - how many centimeters it will protrude from the wall. Estimate: will the body interfere with the head while cooking?

Hood height above gas stove: standard

  • 55-65 cm - for inclined models;
  • 75-85 cm - for other products (embedded, domed, flat, T-shaped).

The height of the hood above the electric stove (induction or classical): standard

The standard height at which exhaust devices are installed above the electric stove (it doesn’t matter if it’s induction or classic):

  • 35-45 cm - inclined models can be placed (measured from the bottom);
  • 65-75 cm - to accommodate other models.

We noticed that it is possible to make the distance for electric stoves smaller than for gas stoves.

Hoods can be hung lower above an electric stove than above a gas one - because they are less flammable (there is no open flame).

Installation height of inclined models

Inclined models are convenient option for:

    users with high growth: since this way the body will not interfere with the head when cooking;

  • small kitchens: the sloping body visually takes up less space, without protruding far from the wall.

In this case, it is necessary to measure the distance from the lower edge of the body to the burners of the food being prepared.

We repeat once again - the inclined model is hung at this height:

  • 35-45 cm if an electric stove is used;
  • 55-65 cm if a gas stove is installed.

Features of installing models of other types (built-in, dome, island)

In addition to inclined, there are models of the following types:

  1. Embedded (embedded). Installed in Kitchen Cabinet, have a shallow depth, have a retractable part.
  2. T-shaped and domed. They differ visually. Can be covered by a kitchen cabinet.
  3. Flat. Can be mounted under the kitchen cabinet, saving space to the maximum. The weakest category.
  4. Island. Such a device is attached to the ceiling - if the stove is not next to the wall, but in the distance.

The height of their location must comply with the rules described above, regardless of the type.

What else to look for when choosing a place for installation?

In order not to make a mistake when choosing a place for installation, in addition to height, pay attention to the following parameters:

  1. (which is already there, or a place where it can be made).
  2. Distance from the ventilation shaft.
  3. Power.
  4. Depth and width. For maximum efficiency, the hood housing must necessarily cover the entire “working” surface of the stove.
