We install a car security system with our own hands - features and highlights. Do-it-yourself car alarm installation: when complicated is easy

Alarms for cars perform the function of notifying the owner of the vehicle about the penetration of unauthorized persons into the inside of the car. They are different types, many manufacturers are engaged in the production of security systems for cars.

If the owner of the car found the necessary security system for himself, brought it to his home - this says that the system needs to be installed.

ATTENTION! Found a completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also did not believe until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

A motorist can confide in this matter to professionals or to his relatives. But there is no special need for this, because the instructions for installing the alarm are always attached to the security device.

What a vehicle owner needs to know about alarms

Models of security, car systems of different brands and types differ among themselves not only in terms of appearance and a complete set.

Each installation can have its own scheme, using which the owner of the machine can place all parts of the alarm system in the correct order.

The pitfalls of this process can be hidden not only in the schemes, but also in the following indicators:

  • in different alarms, wires of the same color can perform different functions, which will not be identical;
  • some types of alarms require more effort in terms of installation on the part of the owner of the car, because they can have additional elements responsible for various functions of the system;
  • the wiring diagram of the alarm system itself may not be suitable for a particular type of car - you should choose a security system for a specific car model.

If a person took into account all the features of his vehicle, considered a number of possible complications for working on the installation and realized that he could do it - installing an alarm with his own hands would not be a problem for him.

Preparation of tools for installation work

In order to quickly, correctly, qualitatively install the alarm on your own car, you need to stock up on endurance and strength, and also prepare the following tools:

Having prepared an alarm with an autostart function for the mount, the owner of the car can install an alarm on the car in a few hours. It is advisable that not only the necessary tools are at hand, but also a diagram that will help to do everything correctly.

Installing a car security system on your own - in which places the connection is made

Automotive security systems with auto start work on the same principle and the scheme of their installation is the same. The alarm connection points on the vehicle are as follows:

  1. Free cavities that are located behind the dashboard.
  2. Parking brake department.
  3. Locking and unlocking places of doors.
  4. Stator and turn signals.
  5. Near the sensors for opening doors and trunk.
  6. Near the brake pedal and parking brake.

The owner of the car can find all these points for alarm with auto start using the indicators of the UCH module or by looking behind the dashboard. Alarm connection points in cars of most brands are located in approximately the same places.

Making the process of installing a security system with your own hands

Having chosen a car alarm with auto start and feedback, a person should take care of it correct installation... The general algorithm of actions, which involves the installation of a car alarm with feedback and an autostart function, is as follows:

  • the dashboard and steering panels are removed;
  • the lower steering column pad is neatly removed;
  • the alarm system unit is installed in a hidden meta;
  • wires are laid, protected and lengthened;
  • a shock sensor and a siren are installed in the luggage compartment;
  • connect wires of the required colors, according to what the diagram shows, to special points on the machine;
  • the alarm wires are connected to the power system of the machine.
  • the functionality is checked by means of autostart alarm with feedback.

Self-installation of an alarm on a car requires a lot of effort on the part of its owner and a supply of time resource. The installation diagram guides you through each process correctly, step by step.

It will be easy to put the alarm on the car yourself if you use the instructions for the security system.

Additional facts to keep in mind when installing an alarm with auto start

Alarm for cars with autostart function and feedback requires special attention during installation. Every owner who wants to protect his car from theft by installing a powerful car alarm should know that its correct work depends on the installation method. In addition to what is written in the instructions, a person must be guided by the following rules:

Installation maps for car alarms are present in the instructions for the device. If it becomes easier for the owner of the car to use the schemes of their Internet, this is also good decision... Alarms with autostart function and feedback can be independently installed by each driver. To protect his car, he needs the security system itself, a scheme for installing it and a set of tools. You need to check the feedback and autorun functions immediately after mounting the system. Three beeps - the installation was unsuccessful. If only one signal is good.

Self-installation of a security system for a car with auto start and feedback is possible, but for this you need to be patient and do everything according to the rules.

Before installing the car alarm, lower the windows in case the door slams and the key remains in the passenger compartment. After completing the installation of the car alarm, write the transmitter to the memory of the processor unit of the car alarm.

Test wires and contacts with a digital multimeter. Check each wire of the car, even if you are firmly sure of what kind of wire it is and what the multimeter should read when checking it. Using the tester with a lamp can damage the electrical circuit of the car alarm. Grounding is important point fastening wires. Find a point that has no resistance to the battery ground. An improperly selected grounding point can lead to malfunctions in the operation of the alarm. All connections must be soldered and insulated with electrical tape. Securely fasten each element of the car alarm with bolts and cable. Avoid damaging the wires in the engine compartment by heating the motor.

All models of car alarms are designed for installation on cars with a 12 V battery voltage and a negative case. The central unit is located in the cabin in a hidden place. Avoid getting moisture into the alarm unit - install it so that no water drops can drip down the wires inside the case. Fasten the unit to a flat surface using self-tapping screws to prevent vibration movement. Mount the transceiver with the antenna on the windshield of the car, while from the antenna to metal parts the body was at least 3cm. The siren is installed under the hood. It is advisable to direct the horn of the siren down to avoid the accumulation of water in it. Make sure that the siren and the wires leading to it are out of reach from under the car. The shock sensor must be firmly fixed in the passenger compartment. Place the LED indicator in a conspicuous place dashboard.

The safety of a car, especially a new one, is a very urgent problem for a modern car owner. There are several ways to protect your vehicle, the most popular of which is to install an automatic alarm on it. Installation of an alarm in a specialized center takes little time and guarantees the quality of the work carried out. But there are also disadvantages. The first of which is high price works, the second - the use of standard layouts of equipment, connection and wiring. But if you have a simple tool and certain skills, installing a car alarm with your own hands is a completely doable procedure.

Car Alarm Kit

When choosing an alarm set, you should adhere to the rule that the cost of it should be 3-5% of the cost of the car. Installing a 150 thousand security kit on a car worth 300 thousand rubles will be clearly unjustified. To install the selected alarm set on the car, you will need:

  • automotive set of locksmith tools;
  • wire stripper;
  • heat shrink tube and lighter;
  • insulating tape in the color of the insulation of the car wiring;
  • a multimeter or other device for measuring voltage and conductivity;
  • double sided tape;
  • spleen or regular foam rubber;
  • car electrical circuit.

Do-it-yourself installation of an alarm will require accuracy and patience, you will have to disassemble the front panel, steering column cover and other interior trim elements.

Installation of equipment

At the first stage of installing the alarm, you should deal with the alarm itself, for which you should study the attached instructions. Next, you need to understand the wiring of the car, which will require a diagram of its electrical equipment. The next step involves the selection of the installation site for the control unit and signaling device. If everything is clear with the first, it is installed in the most hard to reach place- under the front panel, then the second is not so simple. It is usually placed under the hood, but each car model has a limited number of available places in the engine compartment where you can easily install a siren. The more difficult it is to get to the source of the audio signal, the more difficult it is to turn it off. When disassembling the front panel and steering column casing, plastic clips can be used, therefore, it is better to use special plastic assemblies for installation. This will protect the skin from damage.

To install the alarm, you will have to disassemble part of the dashboard

Electrical connection

The alarm outputs must be connected to the direction indicators or side lights of the car, to the lamp responsible for indicating the opening and closing of the doors, as well as to the indicator lamp of the running engine. If the panel of your car is optitronic, then the only thing that can be connected is the turn signals. In order to install the wires, on back side the panel needs to find the bulbs that are responsible for indicating that the turn signals are turned on. We find a board of bulbs, tracks are applied to it. You need to find a 12-volt contact and check it, for which we connect the connector to the track, turn on the turn signal and throw in the multimeter. If you find the required wire, the multimeter will show the presence of voltage at the moment when the turn signal lamp lights up.

Note! Searching for wires using the "light bulb" principle is unacceptable when working with the vehicle's electrical system. The use of this method can be expensive for the car owner, because it can easily damage the entire power supply system of the car.

As a matter of fact, we are looking for the wire responsible for opening and closing doors according to the same principle. When the car door is open, the reading of the multimeter should be 12 V, and therefore, when closed door- equal to 0. The control wire for starting the motor is found by the same method. However, if a tachometer takes over this function in your car, then it will not be possible to test it in this way.

The alarm connection diagram provides for the connection of the control unit and the central locking of the vehicle. The best way to do this is by connecting to the lock enable relay. We will search for it by analogy with the previous steps.

Wiring

When laying the alarm wires, they should be assembled in the directions in bundles and wrapped with electrical tape. The insulating tape should not be very different from the factory insulation of the wires. This makes it much more difficult for hijackers to find wires to cut. In addition, the use of electrical tape serves as additional insulation for wires, increasing reliability. It is best to solder and insulate the wires to the connectors with heat shrink tubing, and then wrap with electrical tape. When connecting wires, you can use special clips, but their use significantly reduces the time it takes to identify the right wire for the hijacker. When routing wiring under the hood (connecting a limit switch and siren), route wires through existing wire harnesses to make them less visible.

Right installed alarm will help protect the car from burglary

Powerplant blocking

Installing an alarm on a car also means blocking the engine in case of an unauthorized start of the car. Most often, the ignition switch connector is used for this. To determine the required connector, you need to ring the lock. The wire is selected, which has voltage when the key is in the "ON" position, and disappears in the "Start" position. To block the engine, remove the connector from the ignition switch and close this wire with a jumper to a constant plus, and the second jumper to a constant plus and the starter terminal. If the engine starts, then we remove the jumper to the starter, the car is muffled and the found wire is cut. Next, the signaling wires and the cut ends of the wire are connected. The connection should be insulated using heat shrink tubing and the same electrical tape.

Installation of car alarms using the example of VAZ 2110

The installation of a car alarm in a VAZ 2110 car can be divided into 2 levels: installation of all elements of the alarm system and connection to the car's electrical circuit. The most time-consuming work, perhaps, can be called the installation of electrical wiring in the doors and trunk of the car.

This is how the central alarm unit looks like with the wires connected to it. This is a shock sensor (shock sensor) connected to the central alarm unit This is how the wiring harness connected to the unit looks like, leading to the sensors for opening / closing the trunk and hood, car doors, as well as the siren and lighting equipment If there is only one block on the central unit of the alarm you have chosen, and you need to connect two sensors, we connect in parallel

The process of installing an alarm on a car VAZ 2110

  1. The hood and trunk opening sensors are mounted in such a way that a short to ground occurs at the very beginning of opening.
  2. To install the hood opening sensor, do additional mount... To do this, we use the plate for fastening the door lock electric drive.
  3. After fixing the bracket, insert the sensor into it, adjust it in height and fix it in the selected position using the lower nut. Armed with an ohmmeter, we check how securely the sensor is connected to ground.
  4. The installation of the sensor for the trunk is carried out in the same way.
  5. As practice has shown, it is best to mount the siren under the hood on the connector of the right mudguard. Remember to point the horn downward to keep moisture out.
  6. The shock sensor (shock sensor) is fixed under the dashboard using self-tapping screws.
  7. The microwave sensor is best located in the center of the vehicle interior. Installation is well suited for this purpose instead of the standard rear ashtray. The ashtray must be dismantled, its holder removed and the sensor installed in it. The sensor wiring is routed in the lining of the center tunnel. The sensor must be securely mounted so that it can well perceive all vibrations from the body.
  8. We install the central unit behind the injection controller.
  9. The last step is the installation of the pager transmitter. We attach the sensor to the degreased windshield, having previously removed the film from it. The sensor wiring is hidden under the windshield pillar trim.

The bracket is made from the plate for fastening the electric drive of the door lock We fix the bracket We insert the sensor into the bracket We fix the sensor We check how reliably the sensor is connected to ground using an ohmmeter Similarly, we install the trunk opening sensor The siren is best mounted under the hood on the right mudguard connector Removing the ashtray Installing the microwave sensor in the ashtray holder The central unit can be installed behind the injection controller Attach the pager transmitter to the windshield

We connect the wiring in accordance with the diagram attached to the alarm you have chosen.

Examination

The installed car alarm is checked in all operating modes, and is adjusted for yourself. When checking, you need to sequentially open all the doors, trunk and hood. When opening each item security alarm should be triggered and the engine blocked if an unauthorized start is attempted. It is also necessary to adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor. For this, there are holes in its body, in which small bolts for a Phillips screwdriver are visible. As you can see, it will take time, a simple tool and a little courage to install the alarm yourself.

Let's summarize

  • Installation of wires should be carried out as discreetly as possible, you can use existing harnesses;
  • The siren is installed in the most inaccessible place;
  • The wires must not be under constant voltage it could cause a fire;
  • When the engine lock is triggered, an error should not appear on the instrument panel, it can easily identify the blocked circuit.

With your own hands, you must have at least the slightest idea of how such electrical equipment works. More recently, only experienced auto electricians could do such an installation. But now in free access there is a lot of information about correct installation devices.

Anyone can study step by step guide and do all the work yourself. Even in the operating instructions for the alarm, all the manipulations that are performed on the car are described in detail. There you will even find descriptions of functions that you can program yourself. Do-it-yourself installation of the Sheriff alarm on a car is no different from the installation of any other anti-theft system.

Benefits of car alarm

Whether your car is new or with high mileage, it can be a tidbit for car thieves. If you buy a new car at a car dealership, then, most likely, the dealer will offer you to install an alarm. Moreover, they may even threaten that in case of unauthorized installation of the security system, the car will be removed from the warranty.

But you yourself choose where and what kind of security system you will install. Such actions of dealers are illegal, they are simply trying to make the most of it. In the event that the alarm installer gives a guarantee for his work, he confirms that the installation has been completed in accordance with all requirements. And a car dealership can refuse warranty service only if it is proved that the car broke down precisely because of an illiterate installation.

Self-installation

There are several advantages of installing an alarm on a car with your own hands. VAZ of almost all models are not very complex cars in design. They can be easily equipped with any type of security system. You will receive the following benefits:

  1. Save a lot of money. If you go to a workshop, then the auto electrician will charge you a round sum - you can buy with this money new alarm, and sometimes even two.
  2. Of course, you will receive moral satisfaction from the work done. The security system is complex equipment that not everyone can install and configure correctly. If you do the installation yourself, you will also gain useful experience in installing security systems.
  3. If in car dealerships and workshops all controls, as well as sensors, are installed in the same places on all machines, without exception, then during self-assembly you can choose any arrangement of components.

These are just the main benefits self-assembly... Each motorist can bring some of his own characteristics. For example, add one or two additional sensors to the system and thereby increase the degree of security. At special desire you can even change the standard bell sound required to signal an attempted vehicle entry.

Varieties and configurations of security alarms

Before installation, it is necessary to choose the most suitable security system. First of all, decide on the manufacturer, then on the model. The cost of the device will also depend on the number of security and service functions. To summarize, then all security complexes can be divided into three subgroups:

  1. The simplest car alarms, which have an anti-grabber, an anti-scanner, several outputs for controlling power mechanisms, electric locks, inputs for connecting sensors.
  2. Alarms with feedback equipped with big amount sensors, and also allow you to issue an alert on the key fob when trying to enter the car.
  3. The most advanced type of devices, since they can dial the number specified in the settings in case of hacking. In addition, it is possible to track the position of the vehicle using geolocation.

The simplest car alarms

They are also called "openers", since they have very few functions:

  1. Arming and disarming.
  2. Opening and closing all doors.
  3. When an attempt is made to enter the car, the panic mode is activated, sound and light notification occurs.
  4. In case of unauthorized access, engine start is blocked.

Among the disadvantages of such security devices, one can single out the main one - a very simple protocol through which radio commands are transmitted. Therefore, installing an alarm on a car with your own hands will add only one useful function - remote opening of doors and trunk. Such devices are one-sided, and the range does not exceed several tens of meters. Among the advantages, only low cost can be distinguished.

Alarm equipped with feedback

If you need to install a car alarm with auto start, then you need to use just this type of device. This is the most modern designs, they have a lot of functions, a more perfect data transfer protocol. This means that when using this car alarm, you can not only control, but also receive information from the car.

For example, a driver can receive information on his key fob whether the car is armed or whether there have been any attempts to break-in. The following features are also available for car alarms:

  1. Remote engine start for warm-up in winter.
  2. Installing a turbo timer. The engine continues to idle to cool the turbine compressor after arming.
  3. The inclusion of various modes of illumination of the passenger compartment and the car body.
  4. Electric closers for windows or sunroof. When arming, if windows or a hatch were opened, they will automatically close.

The range of this type of device is several hundred meters. The cost is at least twice as high as that of simple security systems.

GSM car alarm

The main unit has a GSM module, as well as GPS geolocation. The signals from these two modules go to the microcontroller, which performs the functions of a computer that collects and processes information. The GSM module is similar in principle to a simple cell phone. It receives and transmits signals in the area of the mobile network. The GPS module, using a satellite, allows you to determine the position of the car at a particular moment in time.

Do-it-yourself alarm installation on a car is carried out according to the standard scheme. It is the same for both simple systems and more complex ones. With the help of the controller, all information received from the sensors of the security system is processed, after which the parameters of the control signals are calculated. The driver can control his car using SMS and voice, as well as through a browser on the Internet.

Tools and materials for installation

Before you install yourself, you need to collect the following tools:

  1. Multimeter - with its help, the voltage is measured, the continuity of the wiring is carried out.
  2. A set of flat and Phillips screwdrivers.
  3. Socket heads and ratchet.
  4. Electric soldering iron.
  5. Scissors, wire cutters.

You will also need the following materials:

  1. Double-sided adhesive tape.
  2. Insulation tape and heat shrink.
  3. Plastic cable ties (preferably black).

Need to have multiple wires on hand different color to add them as needed when the device is connected.

Installation

Step-by-step instructions for installing an alarm with your own hands:

  1. Decide on the installation site for the central unit. The further you hide it, the more likely it is that when attempting to hack, the attacker will not be able to disable the security. It is advisable to place the central unit deep under the dashboard, there are enough free niches.
  2. Mark the position of the sensors in the vehicle interior. The shock sensor must be installed on the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
  3. If the vehicle does not have limit switches, install them. In this case, the security system will be able to record the opening of doors, hood, trunk.
  4. Decide how the launch lock will be carried out. For carbureted vehicles, it is best to turn off the power to the switch or short to ground for the Hall sensor. On injection vehicles, you can open the power supply circuits of the fuel pump, injectors, and the electronic control unit.
  5. Upon completion, connect the unit to the vehicle's on-board network through a fuse.

According to this scheme, a car alarm with auto start is installed. The installation instructions supplied with the device contain Full description designs, and most importantly - detailed manual for programming all functions.

Any car owner thinks about how to secure his car. One of the options for such a solution is to install an alarm on the car.

Experts say that there is nothing difficult in installing an alarm on a car. If the owner knows how to use a screwdriver, a soldering iron and understands electronics, then, using the instructions, he can practically no problem with a car alarm to his "iron friend".

Alarm selection

First of all, you must, of course, choose the car alarm that will be installed.

After choosing a car alarm, you need to collect all the other tools that you need.

Tools Needed for DIY Alarm Installation

Those who believe that installing an alarm on a car with their own hands is a doable task, you will need:

  • Phillips screwdriver (required to remove car panels);
  • key for 10 with a crank (for the same purposes);
  • wire stripper (you can use an ordinary knife and a lighter, you can use pliers or special devices, which are easy to find in a hardware store);
  • high quality black electrical tape;
  • double sided tape;
  • a device for measuring voltage and conductivity (for example, a multimeter);
  • foam rubber (needed to wrap the car alarm unit - so it will not rattle on uneven roads);
  • signaling.

Installation

So, in order to install an alarm on a car, you first need to understand where the central unit will be located. It is most convenient to install it in a cavity located behind the dashboard.

After the place is found, the process of installing the car alarm begins in the car. To do this, you need to remove two panels (most often they are held on self-tapping screws and clips) - the instrument panel and the steering one. It is also necessary to remove the lower steering column pad. After that, the one who installs the car alarm has full access to the ignition switch. Remember that all dashboard connectors must not be lowered metal areas body... It is best to wrap them immediately with electrical tape, since they have open contacts, which, in contact with the metal of the body, can close to ground.

The second step is to connect the alarm wires.

Connection to control panel

We connect the signaling outputs to the turn signals or to the dimensions of the car, to the door opening indicator light and to control the running engine. If the car is equipped with an optocoupler panel, then all that can be connected is the direction indicators. All other signals "come" to the panel in electronic form.

To connect the wires, we need to find the turn signals on the back panel. There are tracks on the board of the bulbs. We need a contact with a power of 12 V. After the contact is found, it is necessary to check it. To do this, we hook the connector to the track, turn on the turn signal and hook the multimeter. The voltage should appear on the multimeter at the moment when the turn signal light is on. If so, the required wire has been found.

Remember, never, under any circumstances, use the light bulb principle to find the wires you need. In a car, such a check can lead to a short circuit of the airbags, failure of the generator relay and many similar things.

Further, in the same way, we are looking for a negative wire. The wire we need should respond to an open door, so we carry out the same procedures and check them for open door... The contact we need should show a voltage of minus 12 V while the door is open. If the car door is closed, the voltage should be 0.

We are also looking for a wire to control the engine start. If in the car this function is performed by a tachometer, then it is impossible to "ring" it. Here it must be borne in mind that three wires come to the tachometer - this is a plus, a minus and a negative pulse signal. For installation, you need to find the wire that most often goes to the IG contact.

We carry out the same actions with the charging and emergency pressure lamp.

Lock connection

The next step in installing a car alarm with your own hands is connecting to the central lock. In order to do this, it is necessary to find the lock enable relay (check it by opening and closing the car lock), and carry out the same procedure as when connecting to the control panel.

Installation

If you decide that you need a car alarm, start by wrapping the wiring harness with electrical tape. It is best to choose black electrical tape - this way it will be less noticeable. This is done, firstly, in order to create an imitation of standard wiring, and secondly, to obtain double insulation.

Remember, you need to close it from the side of the signaling connector, and most importantly, we must not forget about the "taps", each of which must also be wrapped with electrical tape.

When the wires are ready, they must be connected to the car alarm unit and hide the wires.

Further, according to the instructions, it is necessary to connect the alarm wires and the wires of the machine. When connecting, you can use special clips, but their problem is that if a thief decides to open the alarm, then, having opened the car, he will immediately see how and where it is necessary to cut the wiring in order to turn off the siren. To avoid the use of special clips, a lighter and knife can be used.

The next step is to run the cable under the hood. Here we are talking about a positive alarm input (or rather, a siren) and a limit switch. A siren can be attached to the wires already passed through. As for the second cable of the signaling siren, it must be fixed to the ground. can be installed in a standard threaded hole using an M6 bolt. The end piece can be mounted on a standard frame. And you can install an additional panel for it. The plus must be connected to the wire, thanks to which plus 12 V is available in the lock in any position of the key.

Engine blocking

Most often, the engine of the car is blocked using an ignition wire that comes out of the lock itself. To find it, you need to ring the six-pin connector of the lock without removing it.

To connect, you need to find the wire at which there is a voltage of plus 12 V in the position of the key in the lock at the "ACC" mark, and when the key is turned to the Start mark, the plus disappears. This wire must be blocked.

On the video - do-it-yourself alarm installation:

To determine it correctly, you need to pull the connector out of the lock and close the constant plus with a jumper, and short the constant plus and the starter with the second jumper. If the car starts up, then, firstly, you must immediately remove the jumper, and secondly, this is the desired cable. Cut the cord, insert the connector and check. The car must not start. Further, according to the instructions for the alarm, you need to connect the wires of the signaling and the ignition switch. Remember to install a relay (usually a relay is included in standard equipment car alarms).

That's all, it remains only to customize the system "for yourself", check the correctness of work and we can assume that the alarm is installed on the car with your own hands.

As you can see, in the installation of car alarms on the car. All you need is not to be afraid to disassemble the car, to have necessary tool and plenty of free time.
