Video: Thermal insulation of roof slopes with Knauf Insulation. Features and benefits of using Knauf insulation

When building a house, it is important to use quality time-tested materials.

At the same time, the manufacturer's reputation must be impeccable, only in this case you can be sure of the durability of the facility being built.

Speaking about insulation, one cannot fail to mention the leading supplier of building materials in the country - the German company Knauf.

This brand owes its success in the market to the impeccable quality of all manufactured products, the range of which is quite wide.

Advantages

The choice of building and finishing materials often becomes a serious problem. The consumer is not always aware of the intricacies of production, he has to be guided by the appearance of the insulation, reviews on the Internet and an attractive price.

However, very different characteristics speak about the quality of the insulation:

  1. Environmental friendliness. The entire line of warm-knauf heaters is made of natural material - basalt fibers (). This material gives insulation gray tint and is absolutely safe for human health.
  2. High degree of sound insulation and sound insulation.
  3. Zero fire hazard ().
  4. Due to the increased density of the material, a high level of resistance to aggressive influences and dampness is provided.
  5. Longer service life.
  6. Easy to install and handle.

It's important to know: the final price of the product is slightly higher than that of similar products, however, the advantages of Knauf insulation allow you to save impressive amounts that are spent on additional insulation and repair of the building during operation.

Any insulation has a number of features that should be taken into account. During installation, it is imperative to use protective equipment against small particles of glass wool - gloves, goggles and a respirator.

In addition, the layers of insulation are shifted with protective materials. Waterproofing is necessary for any type of insulation. To protect the material from moisture, Knauf uses a unique aquastatic technology, which prevents condensation from entering the slab.

Varieties and characteristics

Depending on the type and size of the building being erected, different kinds insulation. Knauf company produces three large lines of insulation - Teploknauf, Insulation (Insulation) and Knauf Therm.

Consider the subspecies of these rulers:

  1. "TeploKnauf". This line of insulation is designed for private houses. These are universal roll insulators suitable for mounting walls, ceilings, internal partitions and roofs.

There are three types of such heaters:

  • "Dacha" - for installation in houses of seasonal residence, the thickness of the canvas is 50 mm;
  • "Teplodom" - sheet thickness ranges from 50 to 100 mm, has higher heat saving rates. It is also produced in the "mini" format, which allows you not to spend money on an extra number of min-plates;
  • "Cottage" - provides the highest degree of thermal insulation, protection against noise and moisture.
  1. The line "insulation" is intended for finishing large construction projects, where the amount of material used is measured in hundreds and thousands of square meters. It can be shopping centers, large hotels, clubs, schools and hospitals.

The insulation group includes the following product categories:

  • Thermo roll. It is a dense medium volume rock wool mats, rolled into a roll;
  • Thermo plate. It is used when decorating walls, sometimes floors and ceilings;
  • "Acoustic" or acoustic partition As the name implies, acoustic insulation is used not only for wall insulation. The sound absorption level is the best in the line;
  • Knauf Pitched roof. Indispensable for roofing, its main advantage is almost zero hygroscopicity;
  • Ecoroll. It is used to insulate surfaces that do not experience high mechanical stress. Ecoroll has high environmental friendliness, does not attract rodents;
  • Knauf ekos. Has the highest fire safety indicators in the line.

Note: Knauf company produces insulation based not only on glass wool, but also using polystyrene. This mineral wool material is presented in a separate category and is called Knauf Therm.

Polystyrene has the following specifications:

  • does not rot, is not susceptible to infection by fungus and mold spores;
  • possesses water-repellent properties;
  • harmless to humans and animals;
  • due to special impregnation, it practically does not ignite;
  • does not pose a danger to workers during the installation process;
  • has an extended warranty period.
  1. The Knauf Therm line is represented by materials for insulation of walls, ceilings, floors and facades. There are several varieties of such thermoplates, each type has its own purpose and features:
  • Knauf Therm facade is used for external insulation of building facades. Such insulation can be covered with decorative plaster, subject to the preliminary application of a plaster-adhesive mass;
  • Knauf Therm Floor is a high-strength thermal insulation material, produced in the form of slabs. Best suited for insulating stone plinths, floors and foundations;
  • Knauf Therm Roof is designed for insulation flat roofs and attic floors... It is most often used when erecting roofs from sheet corrugated board.
  1. Line of heaters Knauf Expert Comfort, created specifically for the DIY chain of construction hypermarkets, has a compact package size, high heat-shielding and thermal insulation characteristics. It is used in the construction of private houses and summer cottages.

How to choose

The best option would be to consult an expert in a specialized store.

Regularly held promotions and sales give a chance to buy insulation at an attractive price .

How Knauf insulation is made, see the following video report from the factory:

Under the Knauf brand, not only excellent finishing materials are produced, but also good insulation made of mineral wool, fiberglass and foam. The choice is truly royal, but it is not easy to understand the numerous series and their areas of application. To determine what kind of insulation and where it is better to use, we advise you to familiarize yourself with the description of the main lines from Knauf, their pros and cons.

Our review should start with dividing all German brand products into two large families of mineral wool (Insulation and TeploKnauf) and the Therm line of polystyrene boards. Each of them contains interesting options, differing from each other in their performance characteristics.

Product lines

1. HeatKnauf (glass wool).

  • Knauf Dacha.

A budgetary series of heaters with rather weak insulating properties - 0.044 W / m ∙ K. The manufacturer honestly recommends this modification only for country houses periodic residence. In winter, judging by the reviews, the Dacha as a heater is really ineffective. Therefore, it is better to buy it not for housing, but to use it in auxiliary buildings like a garage.

  • Knauf Home and Home Plus.

Plates 5 and 10 cm thick are used to insulate city apartments and private houses. Conductivity indicators are quite common for glass wool - 0.04 W / m ∙ K, all other properties are also quite average. However, buyers often leave negative reviews about this heater. Main complaints: inconsistency with the declared characteristics and poor acoustics.

  • Knauf Cottage.

A universal insulation that can be used to insulate the walls and roof of a country house (read how to choose an insulation for the roof). Thanks to water-repellent impregnation the boards are distinguished by good resistance to moisture, but this does not mean that they can be left without the protection of special films. But the heat-saving characteristics are one of the best in this line (0.037 W / m ∙ K). Slabs are classic 50 mm and 100 mm thick in Knauf Cottage +.

Despite some differences in terms of insulating properties, all insulation options Heat Knauf have the same density of 11 kg / m3. This is a very low figure, which limits the scope of their application. Judging by the reviews, it is undesirable to use them in vertical and easily loaded structures. But in the roofing pie and between the floor logs, Knauf works well as a heater.

2. Knauf Insulation.

The line is positioned as a professional high-rigidity thermal insulation. Presented by rolled and slab glass wool materials:

  • For walls.

Plates of the Teplo Stena-032A, 034A and 037A grades weighing from 25 to 34 kg / m3 are used in ventilated facade systems, as well as for thermal insulation of double structures made of bricks or building blocks. Separately, you can purchase the Heat Slab-037 modification for frame buildings. Not so long ago, Knauf presented an elastic novelty - Acoustic glass wool in the form of slabs. However, according to the residents' reviews, the effect of its use in ceilings and interior walls felt at a layer of at least 100 mm.

  • Insulation for roofs.

Insulation Heat The roof has a low specific weight (only 15 kg / m3) and increased moisture resistance. In addition to the roof slopes, slabs can be used to sheathe the walls of the attic and even the floor, if it rests on logs. Also, for roofing work and filling interior partitions, universal thermal insulation is suitable. It is produced in the form of Thermo Roll rolls with a density of 11 kg / m3, rigid sheets Heat Plate (15 kg / m3) in the version of Pitched Roof and Acoustic. The largest dimensions are roll insulation: with a width of 1.2 m, its length reaches 6-12.5 m.

The Insulation family has also found a place for more practical thermal insulation made of basalt fibers:

  • NTV - hydrophobized slabs with a density of 35 to 150 kg / m3, laminated with foil or fiberglass. Insulation NTV panels are used for thermal insulation industrial equipment, but also on ventilated facades show their good side. They have a somewhat unusual size 1x0.5 m, so take this feature into account when installing the battens.
  • LMF AluR is an unusual mineral insulation, where small strips of basalt wool are glued to an aluminum tape. The insulation is ideal for pipelines, underfloor heating and installation on non-standard building structures.
  • FKD plates with a thickness of 20-180 mm and a density of 140-150 kg / m3 are used on facades with subsequent plastering... The insulation has a high resistance to tensile loads (15 kPa). Only FKL lamellas with a transverse position of the fibers can compete with it - the peel strength of the layers exceeds 100 kPa.
  • WM 640/660 GG is a special roll insulation reinforced with galvanized mesh. It is used to insulate chimneys, boilers and tanks in which it is necessary to maintain a constant temperature.
  • PVT are particularly rigid slabs designed for floating screed or cementitious applications. With a density of 175 kg / m3, they can withstand a pressure of 50-60 kPa. Available in thicknesses from 20 to 120 mm.
  • DDP - Knauf insulation for two-layer insulation flat roofs. Bottom sheets have a density of 105-110 kg / m3, specific gravity the upper ones are in the range of 150-200 kg / m3. The compressive strength of the second layer reaches 70 kPa. Also in the DDP range there are rectangular and wedge-shaped single-layer boards (RT, U and N).

Rigid EPS foam board, which is highly regarded for its light weight, moisture resistance and excellent thermal insulation performance. The series is quite numerous, since it covers materials for all types of work that ordinary mineral wool cannot cope with.

It is used when insulating floors for concrete pouring or built-in heating system. Polyfoam Knauf Pol can withstand a pressure of 1.4 kgf / cm2 and does not shrink. If this high strength is not required, the Concrete range can be used for floating screed. Sheets of this insulation work under a load of up to 1 kgf / cm2.

  • Knauf Therm Facade.

Designed for external wall insulation and creates a flat surface suitable for plastering. Also to this series can be attributed slabs from the Therm Walls line used in frame construction, ventilation systems and for small-piece cladding.

  • Therm Roof and Roof NL.

Knauf heaters for roofing. IN basic version are used only on the surface of flat roofs, in the NL version they are also suitable for pitched roofs. For insulation of roofs, attics and interfloor floors, you can also buy Therm Compack slabs, designed for a load of only 0.6 kgf / cm2.

4. Therm "5 in 1".

A rather large group of universal foam insulation with the best characteristics.

  • D - suitable for any designs experiencing high loads: operated roofs, load-bearing walls, foundation up to 6 m deep. Insulation of this brand is easy to recognize by the step on the edge and the applied mesh markings.
  • C - option for outdoor seamless structures for plaster finishing. The textured surface provides excellent adhesion with various mixtures to the boards.
  • Insulation Knauf Term F - used to insulate walls, floors, as well as the foundation of the building, garden paths and basements. One of the most durable types of polystyrene boards that can withstand a pressure of 1.5 kgf / cm2.

What do buyers think?

“I am not delighted with the new heaters Teplo Knauf: too soft and somehow“ liquid ”. Although they perform well in work, it is only due to the reduced dust formation. But it is difficult to find a place for them to use - you will need a solid base and protection from above so that the cotton wool is not compressed. In short, she has only one road: the attic and the roof. "

Arthur Chernyavsky, Moscow.

“And I’m just outraged by Knauf’s attempt to promote conventional styrofoam at a clearly inflated price. I do not argue: it cannot be compared with our crumbling insulation PSB-S, but Knaufu Therm is far from extruded polystyrene. Drainage grooves and textured surface can not increase the cost of foam as much, so here the manufacturer was clearly greedy. "

Konstantin, Moscow region.

“Knauf Dacha is not suitable for outdoor use, for indoor use - with a big stretch, after all, the roll insulation is made of glass wool. In general, this series seems to me extremely unsuccessful. Even a simple attic had to be covered with three rolls of insulation in order to somehow keep warm. I have Insulation slabs on the walls and no problem. In the summer I will change everything to basalt. "

Ivan Viktorovich, Yekaterinburg.

“I read reviews of Knauf products and was very impressed that he does not prick his hands. When I tried it myself, I was convinced that there was really less dust. I also liked the thermal insulation in the installation: elastic, light, does not creep. So I can’t even put a high cost into a minus ”.

Anton Tereshko, Nizhny Novgorod.

“If we take into account only the thermal insulation characteristics of Knauf, there are no complaints about it - it keeps the temperature in the house perfectly in any frost. But there is no sound absorption from the plates. On the first floor it is not so noticeable, but in the attic you can hear the metal tile in the rain, like the insulation under the roof was not put. "

Vasily, St. Petersburg.

Summarize

Knauf amazes with the abundance of thermal insulation materials - in his assortment you can find everything to insulate your house from the foundation to the chimney. However, each series has its own pros and cons that have to be considered:

1. Fiberglass in the Insulation and Knauf Heat lines produces less dust than other brands. At the same time, it does not have the density at which one can seriously talk about sound insulation and strength.

2. Basalt fibers provide an order of magnitude better technical characteristics of the insulation. But so far Knauf, on their basis, produces only special types of thermal insulation - there are practically no universal proposals in this series.

3. Polystyrene is the most the best option in matters of complete isolation. However, its fire hazard does not dispose to thoughtless use along the entire contour of the house. And the manufacturer clearly increased the price, depriving the foam of the main advantage - availability.

Any Knauf insulation, provided it is used correctly, will be a good option for thermal insulation of residential and industrial facilities... In general, the materials of the German manufacturer are pleasing with high quality, although at the price they are in the middle segment of the market. An excellent combination for those who want to buy the best, but are not ready to overpay for insulation.

Price

Thermal insulation materials from the German company "Knauf" - this is the widest range, including mineral wool. The components that make up the Knauf insulation are only natural, therefore the insulation itself is considered environmentally friendly. In addition to this obvious plus, knauf insulation has many other advantages over the line of thermal insulation materials produced by the world industry.

Properties and characteristics of Knauf heat insulator

  1. The heat conductivity index possessed by Knauf Expert and its other varieties is 0.030-0.052 W / m K, that is, in strong winds and frosts, the thermal insulation layer reliably protects the insulated surface from cooling and heat leakage. Any buildings can be insulated: it can be a low-rise cottage, one-story a private house or a multi-storey high-rise;
  2. Noise absorption of Knauf mineral wool insulation has indicators of 41-60 dB, according to the sound absorption classes, the insulation is divided into categories I, II and III, in each category there is a division into subcategories - suppression of low frequencies (H), absorption of medium frequencies (C), and absorption of high frequencies (V). Class I insulation has a parameter a (sound absorption coefficient) ≥ 0.8, II and III classes (categories) - ≥ 0.2-0.8;
  3. Fire safety according to the flammability class NG (non-combustible material);
  4. Chemical and biological passivity, antiallergenicity possessed by Knauf heaters, allows them to be laid in any premises - from children's rooms to production areas. Thermal insulation does not interact with acids and alkalis, is not damaged by rodents and insects;
  5. Mineral Knauf thermal insulation is made only from natural natural materials, therefore, does not have unpleasant and synthetic odors;
  6. High mechanical resistance to compressive or bending forces makes it possible not only to conveniently store and transport Knauf roll insulation, but also to mount it geometrically difficult surfaces... After squeezing, the cotton wool quickly straightens, taking its original shape;
  7. A small specific gravity (density) of mineral wool is 35-40 kg / m 3, therefore, when laying even thick layers, the insulation does not shrink and does not shrink over time;
  8. Installation of insulation is simple - fastening to a frame or dense laying in an enclosed space, while the minimum service life without replacement is more than 50 years;
  9. Saving the item of expenditures on energy consumption of heating when insulating a house with mineral wool teploknauf - up to 200%;

From negative aspects Only one deserves attention - the comparative high cost of the material in comparison with other heat-insulating materials of domestic and foreign production. Another easily eliminated drawback is the ingress of fiberglass microparticles into the air while installing a layer of insulation, therefore it is necessary to work with heat knauf using a satellite ( individual means protection).

Insulation production is carried out in two main directions: the Knauf Insulation brand and the TeploKnauf brand. The latter is more often used in individual construction, while the Knauf Insulation brand is used in the industrial sector.

HeatKnauf in individual housing construction

Natural insulation Teploknauf Cottage and Teploknauf Cottage plus have a three-layer structure, therefore, the protection of premises occurs in three directions: from loud sounds, from humid and cold air. Thermal insulation is used to protect the surfaces of walls, ceilings and floors, roofs and attics, basements and foundations. Retail and wholesale heat isolation Knauf delivered in rolls or in slabs with a sheet (slab) thickness of 50 mm, a length of 1230 mm and a product width of 610 mm. The rolled heat knauf has a length of 6148 mm and a width of 1220 mm. Insulation "TeploKNAUF Cottage +" is produced only in the form of plates with a thickness of 100 mm with other parameters similar to the parameters of heat-knauf insulation.

Thermal insulation HeatKNAUF House and HeatKNAUF House +

The multidisciplinary insulation of the Teploknauf House is produced according to the innovative technology "3D-elasticity", and the impressive parameters of this insulation material are shown in the table below. The ability of insulation to adhere so tightly to the surface to be insulated does not give the slightest opportunity to appear "cold bridges". The advantage of the TeploKNAUF House material, which is made twice as thick (not 50, but 100 mm), is in saving thermal insulation on any surfaces. The product is produced in the form of slabs and rolls.

Teploknauf Dacha

This insulation material is produced in rolls, which makes it more convenient and much faster to insulate large areas e.g. attic ceilings or roof surfaces, floor slabs and floors in the basement. In individual construction, it is often used to insulate outbuildings and superstructures - sheds, attics, verandas, terraces, pavilions, etc.

KNAUF Insulation insulation

Knauf Insulation Thermo Cooker-037. From the name it is clear that this insulation is produced in slabs, a description of the characteristics of the material is given below. Insulation is designed to protect pitched roofing surfaces, walls, ceilings, log floors, partitions, inclined surfaces of internal structures of the house. In addition to high performance in terms of thermal insulation, Thermo Plate-037 deters noise well. For fixing the slabs, a metal, wooden frame or a closed space is used, for example, between beams or lags of partitions.

KNAUF Insulation Thermo Roll 040 is sold in mats, rolled into rolls, placed in a sealed package. The material is intended for thermal insulation of roofing and other horizontal surfaces, to which a large load is not applied. In addition to roofs, you can insulate the floor in the attic or in the attic, interfloor floors, floors on logs, floors in the basement, etc.

KNAUF Insulation Acoustic Partition is available for retail and wholesale in thick slabs and mats. The material has one feature - increased elasticity, which is achieved by using a special technology that also increases the properties of noise reduction. All the main parameters and characteristics of the insulation material are shown in the table below. It is recommended for use on any frame and sheathing surfaces, it is laid by the "dry construction" method. allows you to use it in children's and medical institutions.

The Knauf Insulation brand of insulation "Pitched Roof" is made according to the "Aquastatik" method, which makes the moisture resistance of the material absolute. The heat insulator is produced in the form of mats or slabs, recommended for use on pitched roofs and other inclined surfaces, mounted on a metal or wooden frame. It also proved to be excellent for floors on logs, in residential, warehouse, industrial and public premises. The material is included in the NG group, it is effective when working in the range of external or internal temperatures of −60 ° С / + 200 ° С.

Today, no one will remember how long mineral wool is used to insulate houses and buildings. for different purposes... This material is also called stone wool and is offered by many manufacturers today. This thermal insulation is one of the most reliable, which is why it lasted so long on the market. For several decades, the material did not give up its positions.

Which manufacturer's cotton wool to choose

O high quality rock wool also says that it remains popular, despite the fact that innovative solutions for thermal insulation are coming to the market today. Having familiarized yourself with the market of modern building materials, you can understand that a fairly large share of it is occupied by the products of the Knauf company. This supplier manufactures mineral wool, the technical characteristics of which will be discussed below. If you also decided to purchase the described material, then you should also read the reviews. They will definitely help you do right choice.

Description of the brand "Knauf"

Minvata "Knauf" is also called and is made, no matter how funny it sounds, from stones. This material is also called basalt wool, in the production of which stones of lava origin are used. They are melted down and then added. Fibers are formed into rolls or solid slabs.

It can be made according to different technologies using different materials... The production process affects the technical characteristics of basalt and mineral wool. Traditional mineral wool is good, but it can be afraid of moisture, dust and be harmful. All these troubles were overcome within the framework modern production... As a result, it is possible to obtain an almost perfect insulation.

Minvata "Knauf" is manufactured without the use of formaldehyde and phenolic resins. Almost all negative reviews about the dangers of mineral wool were previously aimed precisely at the fact that when exposed to high temperatures, the material begins to emit phenol fumes, which are quite toxic.

In the described material, there are no harmful resins, and therefore no harmful fumes. The same can be said about the ability to emit dust. It negatively affects the human lungs and irritates the skin. However, most often the mineral wool does not get dusty. This characteristic is inherent in glass wool. However, if mineral wool fibers are poorly formed, they can break, which causes dust to be released.

Specifications

The thermal insulation described in the article quite easily copes with the effects of temperature changes. It does not burn or deform irrevocably. If you decide to purchase this thermal insulation, you should inquire about thermal conductivity. For mineral wool, this parameter ranges from 0.035 to 0.4 W / m. This indicates a low level of heat transfer. As practice shows, cotton wool does not transfer heat. She cannot cope except with thermal radiation, however, other heaters can be used for this, which can be combined with mineral wool.

Minvata "Knauf", the characteristics of which you must study before purchasing this insulation, has a low water absorption. The amount of water from the total volume can be approximately 2%. If we translate this value into simple language, then after the plate has been in water for several days, it will absorb only a few percent of the liquid, compared to the total volume of the material. This indicator is insignificant, which made it possible for the mineral wool to stand on a par with the foam. With all this, the thermal insulation remains vapor-permeable.

Minvata "Knauf", the technical characteristics of which are presented in the article, does not burn and does not heat up. It can only get charred, but only when exposed to direct fire. It is also important to pay attention to the density. This parameter can be different. Several varieties of branded insulation are on sale.

Technical characteristics of Teploknauf Cottage Plus mineral wool

Thermal insulation "Cottage Plus" from the Knauf company is offered for sale in the form of slabs. Their thickness is 10 cm, and their thermal conductivity is 0.037 W / m * 0С, which is true at 10 ° C. This one has an airborne sound insulation index within 45 RW (W). The length and width of the material are 6148 mm and 1220 mm, respectively.

Technical characteristics of mineral wool "Acoustic"

This mineral wool "Knauf", the price of which is 1600 rubles. per cubic meter, used for thermal insulation of communications. The material is flexible enough, which ensures its tight fit and excludes the formation of Minvat "Acoustic Knauf" is able to maintain its original shape for a long time, which guarantees a high level of sound insulation.

This material is characterized by an increased level of elasticity. This allows you to reduce the level of impact and sound noise by up to 1.5 times. The installation of this thermal insulation can be carried out in ceilings and partitions, as well as in suspended ceilings.

Reviews of the varieties of mineral wool "Knauf"

Mineral wool materials from the manufacturer "Knauf" can be divided into two lines:

  • Insulation;
  • "TeploKnauf".

Each of them is used to solve specific problems and was developed for their implementation. Consumers love the Iinsulation range for its exceptional quality. This material, according to buyers' assurances, is professional and quite expensive, but it has one important advantage - versatility. According to home craftsmen, it is convenient to lay it on a large scale when it becomes necessary to process multiple areas.

The Insulation range has excellent performance and durability. Mineral wool of this type is able to protect the house for several decades. The manufacturer himself gives a forty-year warranty. This does not mean that after this period, nothing will remain of the stove. She will be ready to serve a longer period, but only on the condition that the cotton wool has been used under normal conditions.

Minvata "Knauf", reviews of which should help you make the right choice, is also offered for sale in the "Teploknauf" line. Consumers like that this insulation is simpler and can be used for domestic purposes. With its help, consumers trim country houses and small cottages.

Use of mineral wool as thermal insulation

Warming with mineral wool "Knauf" is carried out by home craftsmen on their own. This material can be used for facade insulation. The work can be based on wet technology, which combines facade insulation and decorative plaster... This technique is actively used in places with cold climates.

The wall material can be:

  • concrete;
  • wood;
  • brick.

In the role of plaster, they are often used different types compositions. Mineral wool is placed under the decorative wet layer, which makes the structure stronger and saves on heating costs. Plaster can be:

  • on a mineral basis;
  • silicate;
  • acrylic;
  • silicone.

After drying, the layer can be painted in any color using facade paint.

Insulation technology

At the first stage, the facade is cleaned and freed from unnecessary elements. There should be no metal pins on the wall, because they will be covered with rust. If there is no way to get rid of the metal, then decorative plaster should not be used to decorate the house. Before installing the mineral wool, the profiles must be installed on the walls. It is important to ensure that the planks are securely fastened. With the help of a special glue, mineral wool is installed on the surface. Thermal insulation should be additionally covered with a reinforced layer, which will exclude deformation of the insulating materials. Using a spatula, an adhesive layer is applied to the surface, on which the reinforced mesh is strengthened.

Conclusion

Minvata "Knauf" is made with high quality, therefore, when working with it, craftsmen will not feel dust. There is no need to additionally protect the layer of such thermal insulation. Previously, consumers sometimes refused to purchase mineral wool rolls also for the reason that they absorbed water in large quantities. However, these negative characteristics have been eliminated over time. Today, in the production process, water repellents are added to the fibers, which are capable of repelling water. That is why the Knauf mineral wool receives only positive reviews.

Any person who at least once in his life has encountered the element of repair is familiar with the name Knauf. This company, or, more correctly, an industrial group, produces a lot of goods for construction and repair. But from the entire rich range of products of the German manufacturer, our attention was attracted by Knauf insulation, the characteristics and features of which will be the topic of today's article.

In the modern market of thermal insulation materials, there are two main types of Knauff heaters.

The first is the production of a separate division of Knauf Insulation, which produces thermal insulation materials based on fiberglass and basalt fiber.

The second large group of heaters is polystyrene foam plates, in other words, polystyrene foam. They are produced under the brand name KNAUF Therm.

Fiberglass insulation- not news on the market. This material is obtained by extrusion of glass melt. The resulting endless thread has completely new characteristics. So, it loses its glass fragility, but it gains flexibility and elasticity. This allows you to literally weave various products from it.

Knauf Insulation produces a whole line of fiberglass based products. They are available in slabs and rolls.

  • Knauf fiberglass heaters have thermal conductivity values from 0.032 to 0.037 W / mK. This indicator is less than that of polystyrene or polyurethane foam, so this material also saves heat more efficiently.
  • Glass wool insulation is a vapor-permeable material with an indicator for this parameter of 0.5 mg / mchPa. This value is comparable to the vapor permeability of oak or spruce boards, which has an indicator of 0.3-0.4. Mineral wool by this criterion is ten times higher than polyurethane foam, which has a vapor permeability of 0.05. Glass wool is an excellent external insulation, also due to its high steam penetration coefficient, due to which it perfectly removes moisture, preventing condensation from forming.
  • The density of knauf fiberglass insulation varies depending on the product. So, for example, the density roll material is 11 kg / mK, and plate heaters have an indicator of 15-17 kg / mK
  • One of the most serious disadvantages of glass wool, which has to be put up with due to its mass useful properties is its moisture permeability. However, Knauf insulation is characterized by reduced water absorption characteristics due to the use of hydrophobization technology in the production of glass wool. This means that the material becomes water-repellent. Consequently, it becomes resistant to rain, snow and other atmospheric phenomena.
  • It is worth noting such important properties of Knauf fiberglass as lightness, increased elasticity, which makes it possible for the insulation to fit snugly to the base surface.
  • The safety of heaters for humans is ensured by their biological and chemical neutrality. Simply put, fiberglass does not come into contact with environment, is not subject to the decay process, fungal colonies do not form on it. Another important point- the insulation does not emit odors.
  • Maximum environmental friendliness is ensured not only by the use of natural raw materials for the manufacture of fiberglass, but also by the use of ECOSE technology. Knauff thermal insulators do not contain formaldehyde substances and acrylic binders. This increases the safety of materials for humans, even during long-term use.
  • Knauf fiberglass insulation is supplied in rolls or plates, tightly sealed in polyethylene, which facilitates not only transportation, but also storage of materials on site.

Application:

  1. Fiberglass in slabs is used for heat insulation and insulation of ventilated facades, external walls, pre-fabricated structures. The Teplostena and Teploplita products are well suited for this. They can be selected not only by thickness - 50 and 100 mm - but also by the required coefficient of thermal conductivity. The size of the slab is standard - 1250x610. The package can contain from 5 to 24 pieces.
  2. Knauf fiberglass insulation can also be in rolls. This product is called: Teplorolol. It is recommended to use it not only for insulating various facades, but also for insulating floors, ceilings, slopes, as well as pipelines and other volumetric structures. Rolls differ in length, which can be from 6.25 to 10 meters. You can choose materials with different coefficient of thermal conductivity. The standard package contains 2 rolls.
  3. In addition, there are special products for the insulation of attic and roof slabs. These are slabs with a reduced moisture absorption coefficient.
  4. A special product has been developed to create effective sound insulation. It comes in the form of slabs and has the characteristic name "Acoustic Baffle".

Price:

  • The cost of fiberglass insulation in rolls is from 700 rubles per cubic meter. With a standard width of 50 mm, the cost per square meter of insulation starts at 35 rubles.
  • Knauf plate heat-insulating material will cost from 1300 rubles per cubic meter. Simple calculations show that with a thickness of 50 mm, a square of insulation costs 65 rubles, and with a thickness of 100 mm - about 130 rubles.
  • The price of insulation also depends on where and from whom you purchase the material. In large construction supermarkets, the cost will be lower, as with a wholesale purchase from a warehouse.

It is often called stone wool, hinting at the origin of this material. It is obtained by melting and extruding mining dumps, slag and slag mixtures.

  • Basalt insulation Knauf available in rolls, slabs, pipes and even lamellas glued to metal foil.
  • The density of the types of insulation offered is different. So, the product Knauf Insulation LMF AluR, which is designed for warming and insulating air ducts, external walls and facades, has a density of 35 to 90 kg / mK. Roll insulation has density parameters from 80 to 100 kg per cubic meter. And the materials intended for insulation of roofs and facades of buildings, Knauf Insulation DDP slabs, have a density of 150 to 200 kg per cubic meter. In terms of density, only some types of rigid polyurethane foam with an indicator of 100 kg / mK approach basalt insulation.
  • The thermal conductivity coefficient of this type of insulation ranges from 0.04 to 0.045. This indicator is not the smallest, for example, for fiberglass it is slightly less, and for liquid insulation and even more so. Approximately in the same group with basalt wool is polyurethane foam with an indicator from 0.04 to 0.05. However, such a low degree of thermal conductivity makes stone wool one of the most effective thermal insulation materials.
  • Basalt insulation Knauf has such valuable qualities as excellent sound insulation, fire resistance, a wide range of uses.
  • When making basalt insulation Knauf uses artificial resins as a binder, which reduces environmental friendliness final product... But this material is produced using the technology of hydrophobization, which increases its water resistance.
  • Basalt wool, like fiberglass insulation, has biological and chemical neutrality, which increases the safety of its use for insulation of residential premises.

Application:

  1. Slabs stone wool Knauf are used for insulating flat roofs, facades, exterior walls. Knauf Insulation HTB boards, reinforced with canvas or foil, are successfully used for pipelines.
  2. Basalt-based insulation roll finds its application for the insulation of pipes and other engineering structures and equipment.
  3. Mineral wool cylinders are used for thermal insulation of pipes. Their additional reinforcement with foil enhances the waterproofing of structures.
  4. Another type of roll material - LMF AluR - is a lamella glued on a foil base. This product does an excellent job of insulating air conditioning and heating systems. It is great for baths, saunas, any wooden structures.

Price:

  • Roll basalt cotton wool knauf can be found at a price of 2200 rubles per cubic meter. At minimum thickness roll of 40 mm, we get the cost of a square of insulation at 88 rubles, the maximum thickness is 100 mm, and such insulation will cost about 220 rubles per square meter.
  • Basalt insulation slabs will cost from 3,500 rubles per cubic meter. With a thickness of 20 mm or more, the cost per square meter of material will turn out to be 50 rubles per square meter, and with maximum thickness in 200 mm you will have to pay from 700 rubles and more.
  • Basalt wool is more expensive than fiberglass insulation, mainly due to the increased density of the material, which is considered a very significant advantage.

Knauf expanded polystyrene insulation

Foam boards KNAUF Therm, like any other type of polystyrene foam, are obtained as a result of foaming polystyrene raw materials using low-temperature liquids. The resulting granules are baked in molds. The resulting material is actively used as thermal insulation, and Knauf is one of the main suppliers of foam to our market.

  • Density of polystyrene foam Knauf slabs ranges from 10 to 25 kg / mK. If foam with an index of 10 is used to insulate walls and frame structures, then slabs with a density of 25 kg / mK are used for insulation of practically all units of low-rise construction.
  • The thermal conductivity coefficient of Knauf foam ranges from 0.31 to 0.4, which makes it possible to compare it with fiberglass, which has similar heat retention parameters. This indicator ensures the use of Knauf expanded polystyrene plates, practically not throughout the entire territory of our country.
  • The temperature regime in which the insulation continues to maintain its effectiveness lies in the range from - 140 to + 80 degrees Celsius.
  • A rather low coefficient of vapor permeability - 0.02-0.03 - makes foam insulation undesirable for covering facades from a more vapor-permeable material. Otherwise, the formation of condensation and excessive humidification of the interior are inevitable.
  • But the low rate of water absorption helps the foam to carry out effective moisture insulation. The moisture absorption coefficient in 24 hours is from 0.8 to 2% of the volume, and is one of the lowest among thermal insulation materials.
  • Styrofoam is often criticized for its flammability. Knauf expanded polystyrene insulation refers to self-extinguishing materials, since it uses flame retardants that reduce the ability to sustain combustion. Depending on the product, its flammability class ranges from G1 to G3. Of course, in comparison with non-combustible materials, like the same mineral wool, this is a bit too much, but still it is acceptable in living quarters class of materials, since it maintains self-combustion for less than 300 seconds, and does not form burning droplets.
  • This type of insulation is considered safe for human health and life, since it does not contain hazardous phenolic and aldehyde compounds. The insulation does not emit harmful compounds; work with it can be carried out even indoors without the use of protective clothing and special equipment.
  • The boards are delivered in packages sealed in a strong polyethylene protective film.

Application:

  1. Knauf expanded polystyrene insulation is successfully used in the construction of private houses and in low-rise construction.
  2. Depending on the density, it is used to insulate facades, external walls, frames of structures, ceilings, including attic, engineering structures.
  3. There are also special products for insulating floors, plinths and fundamental insulation. So, KNAUF Therm FLOOR can withstand loads up to 15 tons per square meter of material

Price:

  • The cost of Knauf expanded polystyrene insulation starts at about 1200 rubles per cubic meter. In this price range, you can buy foam with a minimum area and thickness.
  • Dense and multifunctional foam plates will cost from 2,000 to 3,000 rubles per cubic meter of material.
  • Specialized material, for example, the same Therm FLOOR, lies in the price plane from 3200 to 4500 rubles per cubic meter.

In the assortment of Knauf heaters, you can choose the best option for different parameters - price, density or the recommended area of use.
