Ash treatment in folk medicine. We will double the harvest with woody ash

For a long time in Russia, stove ash has been used to treat many diseases. Well, something, but this medicine in any home was in abundance. In ancient clinics, she was recommended to treat bruises, eye diseases, childhood diseases

For a long time in Russia, stove ash has been used to treat many diseases. So something, but this medicine was in abundance in any home. In ancient clinics, she was recommended to treat bruises, eye diseases, childhood diseases. Moreover, the ash was taken not from one stove, but from three (hut, maid and bathhouse), reading the slander "From three stoves, ash brought health", but in more difficult cases - out of seven, including neighbors. This was not only echoes of pagan rituals, but also a practical meaning, since in different houses they heated with wood from different types of trees, then, mixing ash from 3-7 ovens, they achieved the maximum therapeutic effect. They used both dry ash and diluted with water and oil in a 1: 1: 1 ratio, and ash water. By the way, "ash therapy" has no contraindications and, unlike chemical drugs, is suitable for absolutely everyone.

For hives, wash your body regularly two to three times a week with ash water 1/2 cup ash deciduous trees (best of all, birch) boil in 2 liters of boiling water and immediately remove from heat, let the liquid settle for a day, then carefully drain the pure infusion, filtering it through several layers of gauze or cotton wool, and place in a cold place. Before use, dilute the infusion with water at room temperature in a 1: 1 ratio.

In case of trophic ulcers, sift 500 g of birch or linden ash, pour 5 liters of boiling water over it, insist until it cools to 35-37 degrees, and strain the sore arm or leg in this infusion for half an hour, then remove and, without wiping, give air dry. If the ulcer is located on the torso, then twice a day, morning and evening, make compresses from gauze folded four to six times soaked in infusion. Keep the compress on the affected area for 2 hours. After the ash begins to draw out pus, the ulcer must be washed with a diluted tincture of calendula (a tablespoon of pharmacy tincture for 0.5 cups of water).

Ash baths are effective for rheumatism. Mix water and birch ash in equal proportions, boil in an enamel bowl for 10-15 minutes, leave for a day, drain, without shaking, pure infusion and pour 1 liter into a bath with a water temperature of 32 degrees. The duration of the bath is 10-15 minutes.

After the procedure, rub thoroughly with a terry towel or waffle towel.

For cramps, leg pain, excessive sweating, vegetative vascular dystonia, circulatory disorders, climacteric hot flashes, mix 1/3 cup salt and 2/3 cup birch ash, pour the mixture into an enamel bucket and pour 6-7 liters of warm water, mix well and do not filter. Warm up the composition to body temperature and put your feet in the bucket for 15-20 minutes. Cover your knees with a sheet or towel.

For oral diseases, use well-sifted ash as a tooth powder.

Ash can be diluted with water in a 1: 1 ratio. This remedy helps to keep teeth and gums healthy even in old age.

And on a hot summer day, this water will perfectly quench your thirst:

Pour half a glass of ash into a tight linen bag and rinse thoroughly with water. Some of the ash will dissolve. Place the remaining ash in a jar of water (1/4 cup of ash in 2 liters of water) and leave for 24 hours, then dilute with boiled water in a ratio of 1: 3 and drink.

USEFUL COAL

The healing properties of "black medicine" depend on the wood from which it is prepared. The most useful coal is beech and birch. Further in descending order are pine, linden, oak, spruce, aspen, alder, poplar

In everyday life, for quick use, you can always use pharmaceutical carbolene tablets, but if a large amount of sorbent is required for treatment, then activated carbon better to make yourself. And if an ailment takes you where there are no doctors or pharmacies, all the more you need to learn how to prepare this universal medicine It is done like this

Clean the barks or woods first. Put them all in the fire at the same time and burn them, having achieved such a state when there are no tongues of flame in the fire, but only the heat from the heap of coals is felt, as over a barbecue grill.Then, from this hill, select coals the size of a small eraser or a little smaller, put them in a clay or another container, close the lid tightly and let it go out and cool. After that, take out, blow off fine dust, put in a mortar and grind to a state of fine crumbs. If you want to get better quality activated carbon, then pour the hot coals into a colander or metal sieve before putting them in a pot and hold them over a saucepan of boiling water for 5-10 minutes.

In case of poisoning with stale dairy products (sour cream, yogurt, butter), as well as spoiled (sour) soups, vegetables, take 1/4 teaspoon of coal in 1/4 cup of water three to four times a day one hour before meals.

In case of gout during an exacerbation, take a teaspoon of coal, crushed and loosened in 1/4 cup of water, twice a day, one hour before meals.

For hepatitis, take a cup of warm milk daily with a teaspoon of powdered coal (preferably birch).

For diarrhea and even dysentery, stir a teaspoon of chopped birch charcoal in a glass of red wine and drink quickly. Repeat daily until symptoms stop.

In case of allergies, take coal powder three to four times a day one hour before meals. The course of treatment is 2 weeks. The treatment regimen is as follows.In the first week, gradually increase the amount of coal from the first dose at the tip of a knife to a teaspoon on the 4-5th day of treatment 2-3 day, take a teaspoon three times a day, then gradually reduce the dosage again.

For diseases of the kidneys, liver, pancreas, atherosclerosis, obesity, after low doses of radiation (radiation therapy), chemotherapy, take activated charcoal 1/2 teaspoon two to three times a day. The course of treatment is 2 weeks.

To speed up the elimination of radioisotopes from the body, take 1/8 teaspoon of crushed coal two to three times a day, one hour before meals. At the same time, do cleansing enemas with an infusion of birch leaves (a tablespoon for 0.5 liters of boiling water, leave for an hour, strain and pour into a two-liter enema).

For flatulence caused by eating cabbage, onions, radishes, turnips, bananas, apricots, and other vegetables and fruits, take 1/8 teaspoon of crushed charcoal, loose in 1/4 cup of boiled water.

For flatulence caused by consuming large amounts of milk, beans, peas, or beans, take 1/8 teaspoon of charcoal in water three to four times daily until symptoms stop.

ATTENTION! When taking charcoal, constipation is possible, therefore, during "coal therapy" you should eat more vegetables, fruits containing dietary fiber, and also drink more liquid.

BLACK SPRAY

It has long been sprinkled with charcoal wounds, it neutralizes waste products of pathogens, toxins, and pus. Therefore, if the wound has festered, rinse it with an antiseptic solution and, without hesitation, fill it with crushed coal. The same should be done with weeping wounds, trophic ulcers, or if you have a boil.

In case of exacerbation of gout, use charcoal poultices mix charcoal powder with ground flaxseed in a ratio of 2 1 add a small amount of warm water until a paste is obtained Apply the mixture on the sore spot, cover with cellophane and a cloth, bandage and leave overnight

When treating ringworm, first rub the affected area with garlic, then rub birch charcoal moistened with fresh burdock root juice Rub in slowly, at least 25-30 minutes Repeat the procedure three more times, although, as a rule, it takes 2-3 rubbing to heal lichen

In case of burns, add some birch charcoal powder to the burned area. Tape the powder for 1-2 hours to relieve pain and prevent blistering six times with gauze soaked in the infusion.

Carbo vegetabilis is a homeopathic preparation made from coal, it is successfully used for flatulence, colic, food poisoning, general loss of strength in the elderly and the elderly, asthma and many other diseases. It is especially good for treating people characterized by irascibility, irritability, bad mood, anxiety and suspiciousness. If you don't have a water filter at your dacha (in rural areas, water is often rusty), then you can use coal to make homemade filter, which will purify water no worse than expensive purchased ones. To do this, cut off the bottom of a two-liter plastic bottle, burn a small hole in the cap, fill the bottle with charcoal (after rinsing it with cold running water) by 4/5 and fasten upright narrow end way down. If you are preparing strong homemade alcoholic drinks (for example, moonshine), then coal is useful for cleaning as well as possible. When the "fire water" is ready, pour 50 g of charcoal per liter of drink into the bottle, shake well and leave for a day, shaking from time to time. Then leave the bottle alone for a week to let the charcoal settle. After that, gently filter through cheesecloth and a small layer of cotton wool.

TREATMENT WITH ASH AND COAL: QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Recently I heard that it is possible to treat various diseases with ash and charcoal. To be honest, I was very surprised. I still understand when ash is used as fertilizer so that potatoes grow better, but as a medicine ... Explain what are the healing properties of ash and coal?

Principle healing action ash and charcoal based on their
the ability to bind and remove from the body harmful substances and toxins (scientifically called sorption).

I read in the newspaper about "black medicine" - wood ash. Unfortunately, the article did not say anything about which ash helps from which diseases, and most importantly - in what dosages to take. Could you write about this?

Birch ash is considered the most useful: it treats diseases of the lungs and gastrointestinal tract, including infectious, is used for atherosclerosis, ischemia, arthritis and allergies. Pour three tablespoons of birch ash with 0.5 liters of boiled water, leave for 2 hours, strain through cheesecloth. Take the infusion 4 tablespoons twice a day.

Linden ash is used for colds, prostatitis and kidney stones. Pour a tablespoon of ash with 2 cups of boiling water, leave for half an hour, strain and drink 3 tablespoons of the infusion three to five times a day. The course of treatment is 14 days.

Oak ash treats diarrhea, normalizes intraocular, intracranial and blood pressure. Pour 4 tablespoons with a liter of boiling water, leave for a day, then carefully drain the pure infusion and take it for 14 days, 3 tablespoons three times a day, then take a break for 5 days and repeat the treatment.

Pine ash is used for diseases of the genitourinary system and gastrointestinal tract, diabetes and oncological diseases. The method of application is the same as for oak ash.

Cedar ash helps with arthritis, radiculitis, relieves muscle pain. Pour a tablespoon of ash with a glass of boiling water, leave for 24 hours, strain. Drink the infusion 2 tablespoons three times a day. The course of treatment is 10 days, then a break of 7 days, after which the treatment can be repeated.

Aspen ash is used to treat colitis, inflammation of the appendages, diseases of the bronchi and lungs. Pour 4 tablespoons (top) of ash with a liter of boiling water, leave for 24 hours. Drink the infusion 3 tablespoons three times a day for 11 days, then take a break for 22 days and repeat the course of treatment.

In my youth I was sick a lot, I drank the pills by handfuls. As a result, he ruined the intestines, developed severe flatulence. I heard that charcoal helps with this ailment. Can I use campfire charcoal?

You can, but the chocks and woods that you will use must first be cleaned of bark. When they burn out, select 1 to 3 centimeters of coals, pour into a metal colander or sieve and hold over a saucepan of boiling water - 10 minutes. After that, put the coals in an earthenware or some other heat-resistant vessel and close the lid tightly, and when the coals are completely cool, pour them into a mortar and crush them into powder - you will use it for treatment.

Recently there was a broadcast on the radio, they said that earlier people used to treat any wounds and ulcers with coal and ash from the stove. Please tell me the recipe, I will be very grateful to you!

There are several methods of treatment, you can choose the one that suits you the most.

Wash the ulcers with a furatsilin solution (2 tablets for half a glass of water) and cover with very finely crushed birch charcoal.

Put 500 g of birch or linden ash in an enamel bucket, fill it with five liters of boiling water, wait until it cools to 35-37 degrees, strain. In this infusion, lower your legs for half an hour. After the procedure, do not wipe your feet, let them air dry.

Fold a piece of gauze four to six times, soak it in an infusion of birch or linden ash and twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, apply lotions for 2 hours, and then wash the ulcers with diluted calendula tincture (a tablespoon of pharmacy tincture for 0.5 cups of water ).

I have gout, it is especially hard in autumn and winter: my joints swell and hurt so much that I want to howl. And then we got into a conversation with a neighbor in the country, and he said that birch charcoal removes exacerbations of gout. Could you write down how to apply it specifically?

In case of an exacerbation of the disease, take a teaspoon of birch charcoal twice a day one hour before meals, stirring it in 1/4 cup of water. Charcoal lotions are also helpful: Mix 2 parts charcoal powder with 1 part ground flaxseed and add warm water to create a thick paste. Apply the mixture to the sore spot, cover plastic wrap, fix with a bandage and leave overnight.published

We have all seen more than once the ash that remains after the combustion of wood. Many housewives, when growing indoor and garden plants, use ash as mineral fertilizers. And this is not surprising, because ash is the most natural fertilizer... However, is wood ash for plants?

Ash composition and value

Ash is a non-combustible part of the mineral impurities of herbaceous plants or wood during their absolute combustion. In this regard, wood and vegetable ash are distinguished. Wood ash is considered the best. Ash is considered a good alkaline potassium-phosphorus complex fertilizer. Ash contains potassium carbonate, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, zinc, copper, sulfur and no nitrogen. The ratio of nutrients depends on the raw material: in the ash of grapevine, potato tops and sunflower stalks up to 40% potassium. The ash of wood species contains about 30% calcium, and the ash of conifers contains up to 7% phosphorus. Remember: in ash herbaceous plants there is more potassium than wood ash, but less phosphorus in ash than potassium. Peat ash contains a lot of lime and very little potassium. This ash can only be used as a lime fertilizer to reduce acidity.

The benefits of ash for indoor and garden plants the fact that the phosphorus and potassium contained in it are well absorbed by plants. Also, there is no chlorine in the ash. Therefore, it can be used for crops that are very sensitive to this element and respond negatively to it. These are plants such as raspberries, currants, strawberries, grapes, citrus fruits, potatoes and others.

What soils is ash useful for

Ash is great for acidic, neutral, soddy-podzolic, gray forest, swamp-podzolic and swampy soil... Favorable conditions are created for the growth and development of plants: they take root faster during transplantation and get sick a little. At the same time, ash not only brings useful microelements to the soil, but also improves its structure, reduces its acidity. It must be applied to heavy soils in autumn and spring, and to light (sandy and sandy loam) - only in spring. They contribute about 200 g per sq.m.

Ash must not be added to soil with a pH of 7 and above: ash enhances the alkaline reaction of the substrate. Remember: if the soil contains a lot of lime, but little potassium and phosphorus, then the ash should not be applied in bulk. Since in this case the soil will be replenished with lime even more. The action of ash after application to the soil lasts from 2 to 4 years.

Use of dry ash

Ash should be stored in plastic bags in a dry place, so it retains all its useful properties. To maximize the benefits of wood ash, it should be dosed correctly. 1 teaspoon contains 2 g of ash, 1 tablespoon - 6 g, 1 glass - 100 g, half liter can - 250 g, in 1 liter jar - 500 g.

Wood ash in the form of coal, in particular birch and aspen, is a very useful thing for those who are engaged in floriculture. It is recommended to add pieces of coal with a diameter of 0.8 - 1 cm to the substrate for orchids, aroids, cacti and succulents (3 - 8% of the substrate volume). From coal, the substrate will become loose and permeable. Also, coal is an excellent antiseptic, protects the roots from decay. Charcoal powder can be used to treat plant wounds. Before boarding indoor plants it is recommended to add ash to the substrate and mix well with the soil. Ash is an excellent fertilizer during the growing season of crops. Some recommendations for use:

Under the cucumbers, ash should be applied every 10 days from flowering, sprinkling the ground at the rate of 1 glass per 1 sq.m.

1 - 2 tablespoons of ash under seedlings or 1 glass per 1 sq.m. are brought under zucchini and squash. when digging a garden.

Ash is brought under the tomatoes in the spring during soil preparation at the rate of 2/3 cup per 1 sq. M. In mid-July - early August, half a glass of ash per 1 sq.m. is introduced into the soil.

Ash is brought under the pepper when the fruit is set, the soil is sprinkled at the rate of 1 glass per 1 sq.m.

Add 1 tablespoon of ash per 1 sq.m. under the beans.

For beets, turnips and radishes, add 100-200 g of ash per 1 sq. M.

Under strawberries, raspberries and flowers, add 100 g of ash per 1 sq. M.

Ash for cherries and plums is very useful. To do this, once every 4 years, you need to feed them with ash. Around the perimeter of the tree crown, a ditch about 15 cm deep is closed up, ash is poured into it or poured with an ash solution. It is prepared like this: 2 glasses of ash are poured with one bucket of water. The ditch is immediately covered with earth. An adult tree needs about 2 kg of ash. They "love" ash and black currant bushes. It is recommended to add three glasses of ash under each bush and immediately embed it in the soil. By the way, ash scares away slugs and snails. To do this, you need to scatter dry ash around the stems and around the plants near which they live. If aphids appear, sprinkle the soil under the gooseberry and currant bushes with ash.

Ash infusions

Ash infusion is used to fertilize plants. The ash infusion is prepared as follows: 100 - 150 g of ash must be poured with one bucket of water and insisted for about a week, stirring occasionally: useful substances from ash easily pass into water. The resulting infusion is watered with plants, using as fertilizer. The solution should be constantly stirred, pouring into the grooves for tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage. The norm is half a liter of the mixture for each plant. After that, you must immediately cover it with soil.

You can prepare an ash and soap solution. It is considered a universal, prophylactic and protective-nutritional agent. To do this, sift 3 kg of ash, pour 10 liters of hot water over it, leave for two days. Then strain, add 40 g of soap, previously diluted in a little hot water. You can also add mineral fertilizers. Plants should be sprayed with this solution in the evening in dry weather. Apply several times per season every 10 - 14 days.

Dusting with ash

Ash can be used to powder flowers (lunaria, nocturnal, alissum) and some plants (cabbage, radish, radish, onion, watercress). This method helps to ward off pests, in particular, cabbage fly, cruciferous flea, onion fly, from plants in spring. Dusting with wood ash is done as follows. An empty canning or plastic can is taken, many holes are made at the bottom, then ash is poured into the can and, slightly shaking it over the plants, they are measuredly covered with dust-like ash powder. Dusting should be done early in the morning. Wood and straw ash is an excellent tool for removing gray rot on strawberries. During the ripening of the berries, the bushes are pollinated at the rate of 10-15 g of ash per bush. Pollination should be repeated 2 - 3 times, but the ash is taken already 5 - 7 g per bush. Ash can be used to pollinate potato beds: the larvae of the Colorado potato beetle die completely.

Soak

It is recommended to soak seeds in wood ash solution for 5 - 6 hours. Such a bath will be useful for eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and other crops. Dilute 20 g of ash with 1 liter of water and strain.

What can and cannot be done with ash

Wood ash is not at all a simple mixture as it might seem at first glance. It must be applied according to all the rules:

Do not mix ash with nitrogen mineral fertilizers, superphosphate, phosphorite flour, lime, manure, ammonium nitrate, urea and poultry droppings. In this case, up to half of the nitrogen is lost. At least a month later, nitrogen fertilizers should be applied to the soil after applying the ash.

Wood ash can be added to superphosphate no more than 8% by weight of superphosphate.

Wood ash as a fertilizer should not be abused. By increasing the alkaline reaction of the soil, ash will block the plants' access to nutrients in the soil.

If the ash from peat is rusty, you cannot add it to the soil. Such ash will contain a lot of iron, which will inhibit the absorption of phosphorus.

Ash can be used together with humus, compost or peat.

Ash should not be added to the soil for plants that prefer an increased acidity of the substrate (azaleas, camellias, rhododendrons, heathers).

Ash must be buried in the soil to a depth of at least 8 - 10 cm, as left on the surface, it forms a crust harmful to plants and the soil itself.

1 kg of wood ash replaces 220 g of granular superphosphate, 500 g of lime and 240 g of potassium chloride.

Calendula (marigold) is a flower that stands out among others for its bright color. Low bushes with delicate orange blossoms can be found on the side of the road, in the meadow, in the front garden next to the house, or even in the vegetable beds. Calendula is so widespread in our area that it seems that it has always grown here. About interesting decorative varieties calendula, as well as the use of calendula in cooking and medicine, read our article.

I think many will agree that we perceive the wind well only in a romantic aspect: we are sitting in a cozy warm house, and the wind is raging outside the window ... In fact, the wind walking through our areas is a problem and there is nothing good in it. By creating windbreaks with plants, we break the strong wind into several weak streams and significantly weaken its destructive force. How to protect the site from the wind will be discussed in this article.

Modern ferns are those rare plants antiquities, which, despite the past time and all kinds of cataclysms, not only survived, but in many respects were able to preserve their former appearance. In the indoor format, of course, it is not possible to grow any of the ferns, but some species have successfully adapted to life indoors. They look great like single plants or decorate a group of decorative deciduous flowers.

Pilaf with pumpkin and meat is Azerbaijani pilaf, which differs from the traditional oriental pilaf in the way of cooking. All ingredients for this recipe are prepared separately. Thuja or juniper - which is better? This question can sometimes be heard in garden centers and in the market where these plants are sold. It is, of course, not entirely correct and correct. Well, it doesn't matter what to ask, which is better - night or day? Coffee or tea? Woman or man? Surely, everyone will have their own answer and their own opinion. And yet ... But what if you approach without prejudice and try to compare the juniper and the thuja according to certain objective parameters? Let's try.

Creamy Ginger Cauliflower Soup with Crispy Smoked Bacon is a delicious, tender and creamy soup that will appeal to both adults and children. If you are preparing a dish for the whole family, including kids, then do not add a lot of spices, although many modern children do not mind spicy flavors at all. Serving bacon can be cooked in different ways - fried in a pan, as in this recipe, or baked in the oven on parchment for about 20 minutes at 180 degrees.

For some, the time of sowing seeds for seedlings is a long-awaited and pleasant chores, for someone it is a heavy need, but someone thinks about whether it is easier to buy ready-made seedlings on the market or from friends? Anyway, even if you gave up growing vegetable crops, for sure, you still have to sow something. These are flowers and perennials, conifers and much more. Seedlings remain seedlings, no matter what you sow.

A lover of humid air and one of the most compact and rare orchids, paphinia is a real star for most orchid growers. Its bloom rarely lasts longer than a week, but it can be an unforgettable sight. Unusual striped patterns on the huge flowers of a modest orchid want to be considered endlessly. In room culture, paphinia is rightly included in the ranks of species that are difficult to grow. It only became fashionable with the proliferation of indoor terrariums.

Pumpkin ginger marmalade is a warming sweetness that can be made almost all year round... Pumpkin has a long shelf life - sometimes I manage to save a few vegetables until summer, fresh ginger and lemons are always available these days. Lemon can be substituted with lime or orange for different flavors - variety in sweets is always nice. Ready marmalade is laid out in dry jars, it can be stored at room temperaturebut it's always healthier to cook fresh food.

In 2014, the Japanese company "Takii seed" presented a petunia with an amazing color of petals - salmon orange. Associations with bright colors southern sunset sky, a unique hybrid was named African Sunset ("African sunset"). Needless to say, this petunia instantly won the hearts of gardeners and was in great demand. But in the past two years, the curiosity has suddenly disappeared from the shop windows. Where has the orange petunia gone?

In our family bell pepper love, so we plant it every year. Most of the varieties that I grow have been tested by me for more than one season, I cultivate them constantly. And every year I try to try something new. Pepper is a heat-loving plant and quite whimsical. The varietal and hybrid varieties of tasty and fruitful sweet pepper, which grows well with me, will be discussed further. I live in middle lane Russia.

Meat cutlets with broccoli in béchamel sauce - great idea for a quick lunch or dinner. Start by cooking the minced meat, while heating 2 liters of water to a boil to blanch the broccoli. Broccoli needs to be cooked quickly to keep it bright green color, which, with long cooking, either fades, or the cabbage becomes brown.

Home floriculture is not only an exciting process, but also a very troublesome hobby. And, as a rule, the more experience a grower has, the healthier his plants look. And what about those who have no experience, but want to have indoor plants at home - not elongated stunted specimens, but beautiful and healthy, not feeling guilt by its extinction? For beginners and flower growers who are not burdened with long experience, I will tell you about the main mistakes that are easy to avoid.

Lush cheesecakes in a frying pan with banana and apple confiture - another recipe for everyone's favorite dish. So that the cheesecakes do not fall off after cooking, remember a few simple rules... Good dough with a small amount of flour you will only get good cottage cheese, but here again see the point "first".

Ash as a fertilizer is used in the garden to reduce acidity and enrichment with phosphorus, potassium and calcium. In addition to macronutrients in plant residues about 30 names of microelements, necessary for plants for full growth and fruiting.

The value of organic ash fertilizer lies in its ability to improve the characteristics of the soil without causing the accumulation of nitrates, which subsequently pass into fruits and pose a danger to human health.

With wood ash you can:

  • provide food for horticultural crops;
  • fight pests and fungal spores;
  • disinfect the soil;
  • ash in the garden helps to increase the amount of useful microflora;
  • reduce soil acidity.

When correct use wood ash in the garden fertilizer is absolutely harmless. If used improperly, it can harm plants and lose crops.

Wood ash composition

Woody remains of burned plants contain different amounts of nutrients. It depends on the age, type of plants. According to its chemical characteristics, it is an alkaline additive, the amount of which in the soil should be limited if the soil cannot be strongly alkalized.

What plant ash contains:

  • carbonates (calcium and magnesium);
  • sulfates (calcium and magnesium);
  • silicates (calcium and magnesium);
  • orthophosphates (sodium and potassium);
  • chlorides (calcium and sodium).

Calcium carbonate affects the degree of metabolic activity. The substance accelerates the ripening of tomatoes and cucumbers. Calcium binds nutrients and helps them get into cells. The yield of nightshades and cucumbers can be increased by 40% by using wood ash as a top dressing.

Calcium silicate is an essential ingredient for growing onions. Without silicon, which has the ability to stick cells together, the bulb exfoliates and loses its presentation. Such products will not be stored for long in winter.

Calcium sulphate is part of the superphosphate fertilizer, but in comparison with mineral additives it has a longer period of action. Needed cruciferous plants, in this case - all types of cabbage.

Calcium chloride has bactericidal and antifungal properties, which makes wood ash useful in outbreaks of disease in the garden or vegetable garden.

Sodium chloride - rock salt... Allows plants to accumulate moisture. Thanks to this substance in the composition, plants can withstand heat.

Potassium orthophosphate also regulates the amount of water in plant tissues. Participates in the synthesis of nitrogen. Without phosphates, nitrogen accumulates in leaves and shoots, which inhibits crop growth.

Obtaining wood ash

There are many ways to burn plants - in the fireplace over the winter, in the process of cooking on the grill, simply collecting branches on the site, burning weeds.

You cannot use synthetic substances to obtain fertilizers - rubber, plastic bottles. At high temperatures, hazardous substances are formed in plastic and rubber. chemical substanceswhich are absorbed by plants and which turn into fruits.

When young branches are burned, the ash will contain more potassium and phosphorus. If you burn old wood, you get a supplement with a high percentage of calcium.

In the straw left after cereals, the content of nutrients is not the same:

  • Wheat: potassium 14%, calcium 6%, phosphorus 6.5%.
  • Rye: potassium 16%, calcium 8.5%, phosphorus 5%.

The biggest nutrient content:

  • in potato tops - about 30% potassium, 8% phosphorus and 15% calcium;
  • in sunflower stalks potassium up to 40%, calcium up to 20%, less phosphorus - up to 4%.

Wood residues contain:

  • Birch: phosphorus - 7%, potassium - 14%, calcium - 36%.
  • Oak: phosphorus - 10%, potassium - 20%, calcium - 75%.
  • Conifers: phosphorus 3%, potassium 4%, calcium 25%.

Knowing the approximate amount of active substances in wood ash, it is possible to regulate their presence in the soil by burning certain substances.

How to use ash in the garden

For fertilizing, wood ash in the garden is used in dry form and in solution. The dry fraction is laid in the fall so that soil microorganisms can process it. For this on 10 square meters you need to scatter evenly 1-2 kilograms, depending on the type of soil and the level of acidity. Next, digging is carried out to deepen the fertilizer by 10 cm, where there are most soil bacteria.

To prepare a solution (or infusion) you need:

  • 300 g of ash;
  • 3 liters of water.

Preparation:

  • pour ash into water;
  • boil for 5 minutes;
  • cool;
  • top up with 7 liters of plain water.

Boiling helps dissolve magnesium. If you do without heat treatment, then the substance is infused in water for at least 3 days.

Water the resulting solution at the root. Young plants half a liter, adults - a liter. Watering is relevant in the spring when planting seedlings, before flowering. It is impossible to apply nitrogen fertilizers at the same time, because the acid in nitrogen mixtures is neutralized by alkali in the ash solution and both fertilizers become unnecessary.

A month should pass between feeding with ash and nitrogen (for example, urea). If there is an urgent need for nitrogen nutrition, then top dressing can be done by foliar method a week after watering with ash infusion.

Against pests - the benefits or harm of ash

The antibacterial components of the ash allow you to use it in the country when they are overcome various insects:

  • caterpillars;
  • beetles - Colorado and others.

Diseases:

  • bacterial - rot, spots, burns, neoplasms - growths, root cancer.

Ash method of application - spraying and filling in cracks fruit trees ash, dry or mixed.

For spraying, the method described above is suitable (with or without boiling), but before pouring into the spray bottle, the solution must be filtered so that the holes are not clogged. It is recommended to add grated laundry soap50 g / 3 liters of infusion, so that the liquid lingers on the leaves longer. It is advisable to carry out the procedure in the evening, when the sun's rays no longer burn so much.

In compost

It is not recommended to use alkaline additives for composting. They reduce acidity in the composition and prevent a full "burning" compost heap... Ash can be added to ready-made rotted compost as a phosphorus potash fertilizer... This will increase the nutritional value of the compost thanks to the phosphorus additives it does not have.

On what soils does ash harm

For plants that prefer acidic soil, wood ash can create uncomfortable conditions, their growth will be stunted. Ash must not be used together with dolomite flour, lime, chalk. An excess of carbonates will render the soil unusable - with strong alkalization, plants cannot assimilate nutrients, which will affect the color of the leaf plates.

Ash fertilizers storage rules

To keep the ash on long time, it must be collected immediately after the fire or barbecue has cooled down and folded into a dense plastic bag, tie and leave in a cool place.

Some gardeners practice burning raw materials for fertilization in metal barrels... This allows you to collect pure substance without impurities. The remains of plants are not scattered by the wind.

Important! Foliage that has fallen from trees in autumn is well suited for the production of fertilizer for your own plot. It is also recommended to burn the tops of the potatoes and scatter them around the garden.

findings

Where to use ash in the country - there is. The main thing is to prepare it in time and save it correctly. And since this fertilizer has a long decomposition period, it will work during the entire period of crop growth.

Wood ash: use in the garden as fertilizer and plant protection

What are the benefits of wood ash?

Wood ash is one of the rich fertilizers that is usually used to feed seedlings of vegetables and flowers. What is its usefulness? And why is it so actively used in practice organic farming for feeding seedlings and protecting plants?

The benefits of wood ash for the garden and vegetable garden are as follows:

  • this fertilizer improves the composition of the soil;
  • it contains many different macro- and microelements - P, K, Ca, B, Cu, Mg and many others;
  • ash does not contain Cl;
  • ash can be applied to the soil in late autumn, and in the spring it will release useful trace elements into the soil;
  • also ash is an excellent remedy for pest and disease control, and protects seedlings, adult plants and their fruits from "harmful" bugs.

How to make an infusion of wood ash

You can feed seedlings in different ways. You can simply sprinkle dry ash under each bush of seedlings, or you can prepare a solution and carry out foliar feeding of seedlings (or also apply to the soil). Ash addition to the seed cup together with onion peel will save crops from the "black leg".

The solution is prepared as follows: 1.5 cups of ash are diluted in 10 liters of water. This solution should be infused for several days, and it should be thoroughly mixed two to three times a day. Then the resulting infusion should be filtered or wait for delamination and drain the light part of the solution.

About 700 ml of this infusion should be added under each seedling. To accelerate dissolution useful elements it usually uses warm water. Then the solution will have to be insisted less - two days is quite enough.

The main thing when preparing such a solution is to observe the correct dosage, because its change in big side can harm the grown seedlings - ash has a high alkaline reaction.

What you need to know about using ash as fertilizer

Ash should not be applied under seedlings at the same time as fertilizers that contain nitrogen or ammonia (fresh manure, weed infusions). These fertilizers should be used for seedlings only 20 - 25 days after feeding with an ash solution.

Also, ash is not applied simultaneously with fertilizers containing phosphorus, since in this case phosphorus is poorly absorbed by the root system of the seedlings.

When feeding plants with an ash solution, it is necessary to protect against contact of this solution with mucous organs (in the eyes, nose or mouth), since if it enters the human body, this fertilizer can cause a fairly strong alkaline burn.

It is necessary to store ash in a dry place (under a canopy, in a barn), and even better - in a carefully sealed container, since precipitation can wash out valuable components.

When planting seedlings in open ground also, ash cannot be combined with nitrogen fertilizers. If you fill the hole with ash additives, then connect the mullein or bird droppings tincture after 3 weeks.

When feeding seedlings of vegetables (tomatoes or peppers), ash can be added to organic mixtures based on humates, as well as a soil substrate with an ash additive for planting seeds for seedlings can be prepared. For example, ash is an excellent addition to river sand and peat bog when preparing a mixture for planting pepper seedlings.

Where is wood ash used

  • ash infusion is used to soak seeds for better germination. Seeds are poured with a solution before sowing for 3-5 hours, then dried until flowable and immediately sown in sowing containers;
  • wood ash for indoor plants is used in the form of infusions for leaf feeding, as well as in the soil substrate during planting and handling of plants. But you need to take into account which plants respond well to alkalinization of the soil, and which do not. For example, it will harm azaleas, and cacti will reward them with a cheerful look and flowering;
  • ash is also actively used when preparing soil for seedlings, in addition to nutrition, it protects the shoots from the "black leg" and other root rot;
  • wood ash for cucumbers and peppers is a valuable source of potassium that gently increases the protective functions of plants against diseases and improves fruiting. When planting, add 0.5 cups per well, mixing with compost. Additionally, in August, they sprinkle tops and mulched soil around the plants;
  • for tomatoes, eggplants and others garden crops it is enough to add 2-3 tablespoons of ash to the planting hole and twice a season to carry out foliar feeding with ash infusion;
  • wood ash as a fertilizer for grapes is simply a must, it is applied in autumn 2 weeks before shelter for the winter. After flowering, during the fruiting period, root and foliar feeding with ash infusion is carried out;
  • wood ash for roses, as well as for grapes, is introduced in the fall. In addition, it is used in the holes for planting bushes, mixing with compost. Add 1-1.5 cups per bush;
  • ash dressing of holes when planting cabbage will save it from keel development. And spraying with ash-tobacco infusion will protect against cabbage aphids;
  • when landing berry bushes (such as raspberries, blackberries, currants) add 2 glasses of ash to the planting hole, and in the fall they dust the bushes and trunk circles;
  • wood ash as a fertilizer for potatoes when applied to a planting hole has a great effect on its stability in hot weather. And ash dusting of bushes during the growing season will make life difficult colorado beetle;
  • ash is poured into the grooves when planting radish - in potassium-poor soils, radish goes into flowering without tying a root crop;
  • the use of ash when planting seedlings of fruit trees also gives excellent results - their frost resistance increases. For adult gardens, there is hardly so much ash, therefore they are most often used foliar feeding;
  • in autumn, strawberries are fertilized with wood ash - this increases its frost resistance and prevents gray rot spores from overwintering. When laying a new bed, ash is added to the soil;
  • ash with tobacco dust is used to scare away cruciferous fleas;
  • ash screening is used to dust the cuts of roots and root crops when dividing them;
  • in addition, in the practice of natural farming, wood ash is actively used in the garden when constructing new high beds and trenches.

But some vegetable plants do not respond well to ash additives. So, with an excess of it, carrots will react with a thick scrubber of roots.

Ash is an excellent fertilizer not only for seedlings vegetable plants or colors, but for almost everyone fruit plants... In addition, it is a generally available and low-budget fertilizer for any summer resident. And, as you have seen, there are many uses for wood ash: it can be used as an independent fertilizer in liquid or dry form, it can be added to organic fertilizers, as well as various powders and powders can be made to prevent diseases and protect against pests.
