In each corner you need to cut a square, the sides of which will be equal to the height of the mattress, multiplied by one and a half and minus 1.5 cm. You get a pocket, which will then be put on the corner and cover the sides. We do this on all four corners.

If the fabric is narrower than the width of the mattress. To sew a mattress cover with an elastic band from a narrow fabric, you can do this:

• Sew two pieces of fabric together along the edge line;
• Iron the seam;
• Make a pattern as described above;
• Form pockets for corners.

In this case, the seam will run exactly in the middle of the cover, and if it is rough, it may interfere with sleeping.

There is another option, with cutting out several parts:

• Cut out the central part of the cover, equal to the length and width of the mattress;
• Cut out the sides: two sides equal in height and length, and two sides equal in width and length. The sides must be sewn together to form pockets and sewn to the main panel. In this case, there will be no seam in the middle; it will go along the edge of the mattress.

Sew in an elastic band

First we sew in the zipper. To do this, we put our 2 parts face to face and stitch small areas in places indicated by a thick line on one side and the other (see photo).

Leave a hole equal in length to the zipper. We will later sew a zipper into this place. Sew the 2 parts of the mattress along the bold lines.

Place the zipper in the middle. Let's check how much space we left for the zipper.

We pin the zipper and sew in the zipper. The zipper should be sewn on the wrong side. We remove the pins.
