Make a bench from a board. Wooden benches - an element of rest and design with your own hands

A shop is an item that should be on everyone personal plot... However, it is not always possible to allocate funds for the purchase of a metal bench. Therefore, you can make a do-it-yourself bench from a profile pipe.

Advantages and disadvantages of a profile pipe

The profile pipe can have different shape section:

  • oval;
  • diamond-shaped;
  • square
  • rectangular.

It is made of carbon and low-alloy steel, therefore it is very often used in both civil and industrial construction. Such a pipe is easy to cut, weld and bend. You can make beautiful from it garden gazebo, swing and sliding gates, children's swing, carousel, different kinds fences and other small architectural forms for a personal plot. Including a bench.

Proftruba has:

  • increased level of resistance to high physical and mechanical stress;
  • fairly reasonable price;
  • light weight finished structure shops.

Moreover, it is very easy to work with her.

Round (oval) pipes have high degree resistance to mechanical stress, therefore, it is best suited for the manufacture of a metal yard bench. It is recommended to choose thin-walled pipes with a thickness of 1 to 4 mm, as they are easier to work with at home. The material is inexpensive, and the metal structure will turn out to be quite light.

A significant drawback of such a pipe is its susceptibility to corrosion, therefore, the benches will need to be regularly painted with oil, alkyd, epoxy or polyurethane paint with preliminary priming and removal of the old coating and the resulting rust. But if you properly care for such a product, then it will serve you for a long time.

Tools and materials for work

Metal pipes are not the only material that will need to be used to make a do-it-yourself bench. You will need:

  • pine boards for the arrangement of the basis of the seats and backs;
  • powerful welding machine;
  • a pack of electrodes - 3 mm;
  • angle grinder (or hacksaw for metal);
  • powerful drill (for drilling wood and metal);
  • file or sandpaper;
  • exact level;
  • tape measure or regular meter;
  • a plane for grinding work;
  • paint and primer for metal;
  • safety glasses (mask for welding works) and gloves;
  • paint on wood (you can take varnish or stain);
  • reliable hammer;
  • large pliers;
  • bolts for wood with nuts.

To bend the pipes you will need special tool "Snail", which can be used as a normal brake disc from the car. It will not damage the material.

How to make a metal frame for a garden bench with your own hands

Before proceeding with the manufacture of a bench of any type, it is necessary to carry out preparatory workin particular, it is recommended to study in advance the technology of bending and welding pipes.

Metal pipe bending

In order to create bent elements, it is necessary to plug one end of the pipe with a stopper, and pour fine sand into it, and then close it on the other side. Then place it in the bending device, clamping it between the lug on the brake disc and the pin, and then bend it to the desired angle.

If the pipe does not bend well enough, then you can use blowtorch, and heat the bend.

For the manufacture of various elements for the bench, it is best to take pipes with a round or oval cross section, since they are best suited to bending.

The sequence of making a backless bench

A bench without a back is a very simple design, therefore, for its manufacture, it will be necessary to make three rectangles, which are connected with pipes acting as a seat.

To make a shop, you will need to take:

  • metal square or rectangular pipe 11 meters long (rolled section 30x30 mm);
  • 2 pieces of profile pipe, 2.3 meters;
  • 6 pieces of 60 cm;
  • 6 pieces of 45 cm;
  • 8 wooden boards 6 cm wide;
  • 24 bolts with nuts.

To make an ordinary bench without a back, it is necessary to weld 3 pre-prepared rectangles, and then connect them together with two guide pipes, which will serve as a frame for sitting. Further work should go according to plan:

  1. Long reference segments must be placed horizontally, and shorter ones must be fixed vertically.
  2. In the process of welding the cut pieces of pipes, the angles of the supports must be maintained, since they must be exactly 90 degrees.
  3. After carrying out all the welding work, it is necessary to thoroughly clean all the seams with a special grinder or an ordinary file.
  4. Then the seams must be well primed.
  5. After the frame is welded, 8 holes (arranged symmetrically) must be drilled on each of the supports for fixing the boards.
  6. To prevent the appearance of rust, the frame of the bench must be coated with paint for metal.
  7. It is recommended to impregnate wooden boards with stain.
  8. If desired, wooden boards can be replaced with pipes rectangular... They just need to be welded to the structure and also painted with anti-corrosion paint.
  9. So that sharp corners do not interfere, the slats can be laid in a specially prepared metal frame. You will need 1.2 m of pipe.

How to weld a bench frame with a small back

You will need:

  • profile pipe with a section of 25x25 mm (8 m);
  • pine boards (30 and 25 mm thick) for the seat and backrest.

For the device of the frame, you need to prepare in advance:

  1. Profiled pipe - 1.55 m. To create a lintel between two supports.
  2. 2 bent pieces of pipe 78 cm each. Supports under the bench back.
  3. 2 pieces of pipe, 35 cm each. For making the seat base.
  4. 2 pieces of pipe, 39 cm each. For front supports.
  5. 2 pieces of pipe, 20 cm each. To strengthen the front supports.
  6. 4 steel plates 40x40 mm. For the manufacture of supports on supports.
  7. 2 bent steel strips 45 cm each. For connecting future supports.

To make a seat you will need:

  • 3 pine boards: length - 1.6 m, width - 6 cm, thickness - 3 cm (for the seat base);
  • 3 boards: length - 1.6 m, width 6 cm, thickness - 2.5 cm (for the back);
  • 24 bolts with nuts.

The work of making a bench consists of several stages:

  1. First, you need to weld the crossbar and two pieces of pipe 35 cm long. The jumper should be exactly in the center of each of the pieces and at an angle of 90 degrees.
  2. It is necessary to weld two bent pieces of pipe 78 cm long to this structure. It is necessary to weld at the bend point.
  3. Then the front elements of the supporting structures must be welded to the workpiece. Moreover, the location of their connection should be 9 cm from the base of the bench.
  4. In order to increase the strength of the bench, the front supports must be welded to a pipe that will serve as a transverse bulkhead.
  5. Next, you need to weld 2 arcs between the supports and fix at the ends of the legs. The finished product must be well polished at the welding seams.
  6. Then metal structure must be primed and painted with a special anti-corrosion paint.
  7. On the finished structure, it is necessary to symmetrically arrange wooden boards, which will serve as the basis for sitting.
  8. Before fixing the boards, they must be varnished or stained. Boards are attached to the bench structure using special bolts with round flat heads. For the bottom, thicker and stronger boards are used, and for the back, a little thinner. If necessary, they can be painted with any oil paint... If there are no wooden planks, then the same metal pipes with a rectangular section.

For convenience, you can make metal armrests on the bench. To do this, you need to take two pieces of pipe 75 cm each and just bend them at an angle of 90 degrees, and then weld on the sides to metal frame... Process the seams grinder or with a file. The armrests can also be painted.

If you make rounded soles at the legs, then on such a bench you can also swing.

Finishing the bench after assembly

After the entire structure is assembled, you can simply paint it special paint for iron. It is recommended to treat the wooden planks of the seat and backrest with varnish or stain, and then the bench will acquire a beautiful natural color. Such a shop will look great on any personal plot. The decor is selected taking into account landscape design.

You can sew soft, comfortable pillows and back covers yourself. Children and the elderly will find it very comfortable to sit on them on warm summer days.

Whatever design of a street shop you choose, profile metal pipes can significantly reduce the cost ready product, and at the same time its appearance and strength will remain on the very high level... These benches will look great on a personal plot. country house or a cottage.

- the oldest piece of furniture that has become available to humans. A wooden driftwood, just a little hewn with a stone ax and brought into a cave - this is the great-great-grandfather of all modern furniture, closer to which are the wooden benches, which have not lost their relevance and relevance - neither in the house, nor, especially, in landscape design.

Garden benches made of wood: choosing a style

It may only seem at first glance that the bench is far from the most important element in landscape design, real professionals claim that it is from the bench that it begins and ends with it garden design... Otherwise, why, then, all these efforts and labors, if no one can enjoy and appreciate them?

That is why it is important to place the bench correctly, choosing a place from which the most beautiful and attractive view opens up, and the bench itself can become an elegant accent that complements the beauty of the garden.

A comfortable bench in the garden will be the place where you can hide from the hustle and bustle, admire nature, read a book or listen to music, dream, just relax. At the same time, wooden benches for a summer residence are a powerful and effective "weapon" of landscape design; they can be used for zoning a site, delineating boundaries, etc.

At the same time, garden benches differ in their functional purpose:

  • ceremonial - they are installed at porch, at the entrance to the house. These wooden decorative benches, richly decorated with carvings, become a favorite place for photo shoots.
  • dining rooms - they are usually placed near b-B-Q, on terraces, in places where the family likes to dine in nature
  • garden - small benches, next to flower beds, a flower garden or a plot, it is good to sit on them and relax while working in the garden. Usually it is very simple in shape, without decorations and aesthetic delights.
  • relaxation - usually they are "hidden" in the very nook plot, away from strangers, and your own eyes, where the whole situation is conducive to relaxation. The main criterion is comfort, and you can not be shy with the size - you can climb on such a bench with your feet and even lie down

To make the bench comfortable, you should adhere to the following sizes:

  • optimal height - about 40-50 cm, while the legs will rest comfortably on the ground and rest
  • the width of the seat is about 50-55 cm.The seat is made with a slight inclination inward - 5-12 cm, so it is more convenient to lean
  • back height - 35-50 cm
  • backrest tilt - within 15-45 degrees
  • if armrests (handcuffs) are installed, then the optimal height for them is 15-20 cm, counting from the seat

Advice! When choosing material for a bench, preference should be given to wood that is especially resistant to moisture and decay - oak, larch, hazel, cherry. But teak is considered to be the "champion" in strength, its wood contains natural resinsprotecting it from rot and insects (bark beetles, termites).

The choice of the shape and type of bench depends on both your preferences and the style in which the garden is decorated.

For country style, a bench that is as simple as possible in shape, natural color or painted in a brown discreet shade, is suitable. For the Provence style - a little antique shop, quite modest in terms of decoration, painted in blue , white , violet or blue.

  • the bench must be periodically painted (varnished). It is best to do this at the beginning of the season, before thoroughly cleaning the wood from the remnants of old paint.
  • in hot weather, the bench should be placed in the shade - it will be comfortable not only for you, but also for the tree - ultraviolet radiation negatively affects the quality of wood
  • regularly check the fasteners (bolts, screws, nails), if necessary - fasten them to the stop, do not allow the structure to loosen
  • if you notice traces of rot on one board, replace it immediately, do not let it spread further

No one will argue that a bench is just a necessary attribute for any suburban area... There are a great many types of garden benches, but in this article we will analyze a very simple classic version of a bench designed for 2 people, which is not difficult to do with your own hands. The bench should turn out to be strong and not heavy, it can be easily carried by two of us to any place on the site.

Below you will find a working 3D model of this bench, which can be rotated in all directions, as well as drawings of the parts of the bench from which it will be assembled.

So what do we need?
Since you will do it with your own hands, you need to stock up next tool and materials:

Instruments

  1. Circular saw (you can do with a simple hacksaw for wood).
  2. Planer (if you use non-planed boards).
  3. Drill or screwdriver (with drills and bits).
  4. Measuring tool (tape measure and corner).
  5. Wrench.
  6. Painting brush.
  7. A grinder or a hacksaw for metal for cutting a threaded rod to size.

Materials

  1. Edged board 100 * 40 mm.
  2. Edged board 100 * 25 mm.
  3. Furniture screws or threaded rod with a diameter of 8-10 mm:
  4. Nuts and washers for the selected screw size.
  5. Self-tapping screws with a countersunk head for fastening the elements of the back and seat of the bench.
  6. Self-tapping screws with a turnkey head for fastening the power strut - 4 pcs.
  7. Abrasive paper (you can use a drill bit, and ideally use a surface grinder).
  8. Protective impregnation for wood.
  9. Wood putty for sealing screw caps.

After all the elements of the future garden bench are sawn and planed, you can start assembling with your own hands. And below are her isometric drawings with dimensions.

BY SIZE:
I adapted the model of this bench to the dimensions that are often found in lumber in our sawmills, but this nasty but is always present. When preparing parts, rely on the main (overall) dimensions, because non-planed material can have a spread of up to 5-8 mm. Accordingly, you will have to make adjustments to the dimensions of your design.

Assembling a garden bench

  1. We collect the sidewalls of the bench.
    We drill holes for threaded connections. You can make a sample in the wood with a special drill if you want to sink the caps and nuts. To make it easier to work, you can first fix the entire structure of the sidewall of the bench with clamps or thin nails (self-tapping screws).
  2. We fix the sidewall structure with screws and nuts (a washer should be placed under the bolt head and nut). Do not overtighten immediately, you may have to move the entire structure for better stability.
  3. We carry out the same operation with the second sidewall.
  4. Connect the two sides of the bench using the spacer-strength element (below).
    Fix it with large self-tapping screws with a turnkey head.
  5. Fasten the seat and back elements with self-tapping screws using a screwdriver. The gap according to the drawing between the boards is 5 mm (use, for example, nails or screws of the appropriate thickness as a spacer).
  6. Tighten all screw connections.
  7. Cover all the recessed caps of the screws securing the seat and back of the bench with wood putty.
  8. Abrasive all wooden surfacesso as not to plant splinters and smooth out the putty. All outer corners can be rounded off.
  9. Apply a protective impregnation or paint to all surfaces in two coats with intermediate drying.
  10. Voila! Once dry, the DIY garden bench is ready for installation.
  • Sizes of lumber are nominal. When buying boards, add at least 10% to the total footage for possible losses.
  • For economical use of sawn timber, start sawing boards from the longest pieces.
  • The width of the garden bench can be done at your discretion, just keep in mind that a large width will contribute to the sagging of the seat boards under the body's weight and you will have to strengthen the structure.
  • Whether to put the lower board of the bench back is up to you.
  • To minimize accidental bruising and injury, file or cut off any sharp corners of the seat and backrest.
  • If lumber is used to make a garden bench natural moisture (not dried), it is possible to change the dimensions and gaps during drying and it is better not to varnish it until the wood is completely dry.

Examples of similar garden benches

A similar bench with one-board back relief. As an option to reduce weight.

And here is a version of a bench with a rear shelf on the back. Moreover, the author did correct angle on the backrest amplifiers at the top, and the shelf turned out to be in the correct plane.

The same version with a rear shelf on the back. But here the author did not make the right angle, and the shelf turned out to be littered.
Note that here, as well, 4 boards are used on the seat, and 3. The elements of the bench are varnished.

In the photo below, you see a whole ensemble of three benches. Quite a good idea for a resting corner on the site. Only now it seems to me that the long bench should have reinforced the seat in the middle, otherwise there is a deflection, which I wrote about above.

Thanks for your attention, I was glad if I helped someone. Post your versions of the made garden benches below in the comments or send me an email.

You can read about how to make a large, stationary and heavy garden bench in another article: "Garden bench with back and armrests", drawings and dimensions are attached.

If you want to purchase a ready-made garden bench, we advise you to contact a trusted furniture seller Kupistol, there is a wide range for every taste and wallet.

Among small architectural forms, benches and benches are most common. It can be made from any materials or their combinations: wood, metal, stone, concrete, plastic, glass.

They are everywhere: streets and squares of cities, parks and squares, sports and educational establishments, public institutions and living quarters. Practically required element landscape design, a plot of a private house or summer house.

The easiest to process and most affordable material is wood. Do-it-yourself wooden benches make it possible to save money, demonstrate homemade craftsmanship and be a creator.

Wooden benches: economy option

Make wooden benches using already existing "blanks". It is enough to process a little, to assemble a strong and functional structure - with a seat, back and legs.

Moreover, such "modules" are inexpensive, sometimes purchased for "pennies". We are talking about pallets, or pallets.

But not everyone will fit the device garden furniture... You should not use products from off-grade or unedged boards. In the first case, large knots may fall out, in the second, “aesthetic” qualities suffer.

There are cases when the step of fixing the board is clearly not suitable for a bench.

A pallet is better suited, as in the photo. With a corner chamfer removed along the contour.

Pallet width is large for bench seating. It needs to be cut, the rest can go to the backrest device.

If there is not enough backrest for the width, then the bench will have to be made of two pallets.

The seats and backrest are part of the structure. We need legs. Let's make the pallet from the board.

the bench may not be stable -

the rigidity is provided by the seat, and the foot area is quite small. Usually, a lower ligament is added so that they do not "part". A simpler option is to use another pallet as a base (more precisely, part of it)

or two. Do-it-yourself benches, benches made of wood in detail and understandable.

The fixation of the backrest, as can be seen from the examples, can be carried out using a pair of slats, a board, a rope or rope. The assembled bench, its surface is cleaned, polished, varnished or painted.

You can not cut the pallets to the width and make a garden sofa.

There are examples of using pallet boards for the manufacture of benches and other products from the class of small architectural forms. The photo also shows flowerpots.

It is not necessary to spend time dismantling pallets, but rather buy standard lumber.

Simple bench shapes: board and timber

There are designs and versions - from the simplest to specimens with wood carvings, worthy of being called real works of applied art.

The easiest option for manufacturing is a wooden bench without a back.

The drawing shows a do-it-yourself wood bench, completely made of a board with a thickness of 75 mm.

Each element consists of two parts.

The seat with beveled ends is assembled from two boards. If the bench stands on open area or outside a heated room, it is better to provide a gap. It will allow water to drain and compensate for wood swelling.

The leg consists of two glued elements. For the reliability of the end connection, a pin (dowel) is inserted. Two short support beams and seat attachments are attached to the leg. The legs and beams are connected with grooves, fixed with glue and self-tapping screws. IN assembled the leg and the beam are attached to the seat board with two pairs of screws and dowels, holes are drilled for them in advance.

Benches assembly order:

1. Cut the workpiece;

2. Process the ends and clean the surfaces for gluing;

3. Glue the legs;

4. Beams are attached to them;

5. Collect the shop;

6. Grind and varnish (or paint).

Images and drawings of a bench made of a 30 mm board with a support beam.

There are already curly elements in the form of legs with radius cutouts. You can make the work easier and make them rectangular. A drawing is not a dogma - it can be taken as a basis and changed towards simplification or towards complication. They do the same with sizes - they make the shop wider, shorter, etc.

What is the difference between this option and the previous one?

One long support beam is used instead of four short ones, it also serves as a stiffener for the base - the legs and the whole structure are more stable. The connection of the legs and the beam goes through the thorn-groove, and the thorn is much easier to cut. That is, such a shape is a little easier to manufacture, more stable and gives more possibilities for experimentation.

Below are several options for a similar design, but in a different design.

For example, in the style of minimalism - there are not even protruding edges. Splicing according to the thorn-groove principle is used to connect the legs and the seat.

In this model, the task was simplified as much as possible - they even refused to cut grooves and spikes. In this case, the connection between the legs and the beam is better carried out using confirmations, and not self-tapping screws (they have larger area contact). For strength, a pair of dowels are usually added on each side, set on glue. Concealed mount the seats are made on a dowel, open - on a self-tapping screw.

If the bench is not very long, then the beam can be placed below. In such a design, it performs exclusively the role of a stiffener.

In the photo below you can see an unusual case of using a dowel - it attaches the beam to the legs not with a hidden installation, but open.

In this bench, a block was attracted to "help" the board.

Legs with crossbars and two oblique seat supports are made of it. All fastenings are made on confirmations, and the connection of the bar of the legs to each other is carried out using grooves.

Here, too, a block is used for the base. Thanks to the thick seat board, it does not require additional support. The bottom beam serves as a stiffener.

Making a small bench with a back is not much more difficult. The principle of installation and fasteners is similar to simple benches: grooves, spikes, dowels, glue, self-tapping screws and confirmations.

You can take a construction with "solid" legs from the board as a basis. Move them a little from the center to the edge so that the ends of the seat and the legs are in the same plane. Attach vertical beams to the legs and screw the back to them.

For a model whose base is made of a bar, the back is even easier to make. Two pairs of legs: front - for seat support, rear (high) - for fastening load-bearing beam, seats and backs.

These were lightweight and "mobile" designs of benches and benches made of wood, which can be used with equal success in an open area, under a canopy or indoors. There are more massive forms oriented towards "stationary" placement.

Benches: large format

Making a wooden bench with your own hands for a summer residence involves the use of any form of material. Including those that are used in the construction of wooden houses.

For example, timber. For reference: timber is classified as such if the aspect ratio is not more than 1: 2, and the smaller side has a size of 100 mm or more. Reducing the size translates such lumber into the "bar" category.

It is not easy to assemble such a bench as in this photo with your own hands, but it is possible.

Assembling the legs is not difficult in principle. The only difference from a board and a bar is that more powerful fasteners are required. For example, such self-tapping bolts for wood.

Under their head, you will have to expand the hole (but the confirms also require this) and put a washer.

Installation and installation of the seat is much more difficult.

For the "bundle" of the timber between each other, three metal studs, with a length almost the width of the seat, and two - the width of the bench, taking into account the legs. It is difficult to find such on sale - you will have to make them from round fittings (stainless steel). The gap between the timber can be maintained using wooden plates from the board, threaded onto the studs. The thickness of the plates should be the same as the three supporting vertical beams that support the seat in the center of the bench.

And this specimen is made from an even more powerful bar (150 × 100). Its assembly is much easier. The two seat beams are attached from below through short cross beams, which are then mounted to the T-legs.

Another easy-to-follow example using a large-format board. The bearing capacity of the material is such that the use of reinforcing beams is not required here - the seat is attached to the ends of the short legs. The author of the project knows well that the toughest geometric figure - triangle. Therefore, both the configuration of the lower part of the supports and their bolting together have the shape of an equilateral triangle.

If it is possible to order two non-standard wooden beams, then making such a bench with your own hands will not be difficult: you will need to "add" four short bars (100 × 100) for the legs and two bars (100 × 50) for the back.

But if there is no such possibility, then instead of a non-standard bar, you can use a pair of standard ones.

Such garden bench he already uses logs from wood with his own hands.

The most difficult thing in this option is to make a longitudinal groove and a spike with an ax (or adze) for connecting the logs. For reliable fixation, you will need another pair of pins on each side (this is the same dowel, but only thicker and longer). The seat and back can be made of a board (as in the photo) or a bar. Do-it-yourself benches, wooden benches - ideas and solutions.

And this version of the shop is already more complicated.

But not really. The main difficulty is to make a back, or rather a notch on it. All fastenings of parts of the structure pass between themselves by means of pins.

Basically, such wooden fasteners rather durable - log cabins of a couple of floors (including wooden churches) were previously built without a single nail.

And a very simple option: two logs with a groove and half a log sawn lengthwise.

Wood bench

In conclusion, a couple of examples of how you can make a bench out of wood, but not purchased, but found in the nearest planting or forest. Do-it-yourself benches, benches made of wood from auxiliary material.

In this example, only the seat is made of plank, everything else is made of natural material, which had to be picked up in thickness and adjusted to fit.

To make the seat of such a bench, you need professional tool, so you will either have to order longitudinal sawing of a log, or (which is easier) take an unedged board as a blank.

A bench is an indispensable element of any suburban area. Today, such structures perform many important functions: from their direct purpose to giving the garden unique design.

Many owners of suburban areas prefer to build benches on their own, since this simple task will not take much time and money.

There are several basic materials that are used as the basis for building benches.

Wood

The most popular option is wood. It is believed that it is from this material that the most aesthetic designs are obtained.

Due to the versatile aesthetic characteristics of the material, wooden benches fit perfectly into the landscape of any garden. It is important to keep in mind that the benches are always in the open air. Therefore, it is necessary to select those types of wood that are characterized by maximum resistance to weathering.

These include: hazel, oak, pine, cherry, and larch. For additional protection the material is coated with a special varnish.

Metal

Metal is popular for the production of benches for many reasons: durability, practicality, resistance to precipitation, ease of use. As the best option for the garden, openwork designs with interesting patterns are most often made. Alternatively, you can focus on minimalism.

A rock

The stone benches are impressive and monumental. Basic materials: granite, marble, quartzite. In some cases, rough stone is used to create a unique design, in others a stone with a smooth surface.

Plastic

Plastic is the most affordable convenient option... It is considered more seasonal and budgetary than aesthetic and decorative. However, at correct design plastic bench, it can become a garden decoration. Colorful pillows, lanterns, flowers and much more are often used for decoration.

Varieties of benches

Garden benches are traditionally divided into several categories. Location is the criterion for division.

They are usually installed close to the threshold, which determines the choice of material. Designers insist that the look of the front bench should match the exterior country house... Thus, if the building is made of stone, then the bench, accordingly, must also be made of stone.

Water bench

The main purpose is the possibility of a comfortable pastime near the reservoir. For the construction of structures, it is recommended to choose waterproof materials - artificial or natural stone.

It can be located virtually anywhere in the suburban area. Plastic is usually used as a base, since it is lightweight and easy to clean.

An irreplaceable option for hardworking summer residents. Garden benches are installed so that the owners of the plot can rest comfortably while working in the garden. To ensure aesthetic pleasure accompanying rest, structures are placed next to flower beds.

This variety can also be called the "lonely bench". The fact is that it is customary to place them in the most remote places of the garden so that a person has the opportunity to hide from prying eyes. A popular material for manufacturing is wood.

Seasonal bench

It is foldable and lightweight. Thus, the task of transferring the bench from one place to another is greatly facilitated: summer period - in the shade, in autumn or spring - in sunny places. Optimal material - plastic.

DIY wood bench

There are many different types wooden benches. We'll look at a few of them.

Standard wooden bench

Materials:

  • croaker - a board with bark on one side - 2 trims one and a half meters long;
  • bars - 2 pieces;
  • trimming bars - 2 pieces 15x20 centimeters.

Step 1. We dig two holes, align them in depth.

Step 2. Align the corners between the uprights and the bars in such a way that it would be comfortable to sit on the bench later.

Step 3. We nail the bars with nails 200 millimeters.

Step 4. We bury the blanks.

Step 5. We tamp.

Step 6. We nail the back to the racks.

Step 7. We nail the back to the bars.

Step 8. We process the wood with special enamel or varnish.

The described option is an ordinary country bench, which rather acts as a functional option than a decorative element.

List of materials:

  • suitable boards - cedar is best;

Bench manufacturing technology

Step 1. We arm ourselves with a calculator and a tape measure, calculate the size of the bench.

Step 2. Grind the boards in such a way that they do not have chipping, burrs and other defects.

Step 3. Cut out 46 segments of the same length (about 50 centimeters each).

Step 4. Set aside 6 segments for further construction of the turret.

Step 5. We collect support boxes from 40 segments.

To do this, put two segments parallel to each other, and then put two more segments on top perpendicular to them. Thus, we lay out the remaining planks to make a turret. We fix the corners with glue and self-tapping screws for greater strength. Each drawer uses 20 slats.

Step 6. Take long boards and start making a frame for the future structure. To do this, we lay the boards on their side and fix them in the middle with a cross bar.

Step 7. We attach the frame to the support boxes using self-tapping screws and glue.

Step 8. Make a "turret" from the remaining 6 segments. To do this, lay out the slats on one of the support boxes in the same way as we did earlier.

The last row must be made solid using short segments that are inserted between the walls of the boxes.

Step 10. If desired, we make "window sills" on the top row, adding there four sanded boards with oblique corners.

Step 12. We take long boards and cover the future sitting place with them.

Step 13. Install pots with plants in the turrets.

It is very beautiful and simple construction, which does not take up much space, but contributes to pleasant leisure.

We will consider the production technology of the simplest country bench without a back. It only takes a few hours to assemble the bench. The basis of this design is a profile pipe.

Set of tools:

Step 1. Determine the location of the future bench, carry out the appropriate calculations. The standard length of such a bench is 120 centimeters.

Step 2. With the help of a grinder, cut off three metal blanks 120 centimeters long. They will act as a seat.

Step 3. Lay the workpieces evenly on a flat surface. You can use a stove.

Step 4. Take a steel corner, cut off two crossbars.

Step 5. We apply the crossbars perpendicular to the workpieces, stepping back from the edges about ten centimeters, and weld them.

Step 6. We weld two bench legs to the corners, the length of which is adjusted according to the wishes of the site owners.

Step 7. Weld to the legs cross bar, stepping back from the bottom of the seat about 20-25 centimeters.

Step 8. We make two crossbars from the scraps of the corners.

Step 9. Weld these crossbars to the base of the bench legs.

Step 10. Apply a protective coating to the metal.

Step 11. Install the bench.

If desired, you can modify the structure by welding a rail and a backrest to it. Bright paint will give the bench an interesting look.

Construction from scrap materials

First of all, you need to decide what materials will be used as the frame of the structure. It can be:

  • stones;
  • wooden pallets;
  • bricks;
  • bottles.

Also in the process of work you will need the following materials: clay, straw, water, sand, paint, brushes.

We prepare a frame from pallets

  1. We fill the bottles with soil.
  2. We put them in several layers on a pillow of sand and gravel.
  3. We tie the bottles with wire.

Preparing clay mortar

Stage 1. Mix the straw with sand and clay.

Stage 2. Add water to the mixture and stir the contents of the container.

Step 3. Roll small balls out of the solution with our hands.

Stage 4. We put the balls on the previously prepared frame, thus forming the outlines of the future bench.

Stage 5. Cover the finished bench with polyethylene so that the solution gradually dries and does not crack.

It is believed that clay benches can last up to a hundred years without losing their attractive appearance... In addition, this is a fairly economical option that will certainly add originality to any garden.

Choose the option that will fit well with garden plot and will bring maximum satisfaction.
