We create an original landscape design for a summer cottage: photo. Do-it-yourself landscape design of a summer cottage - fresh ideas and finished projects (photo)

Man and nature are the eternal theme of any kind of art. Landscape design Is not only a way of self-expression, but also a part direct communication with pristine nature. The area adjacent to the private house gives a wide scope for imagination, opening up endless possibilities for designers around the world.
Regardless of size suburban area, you need to strive to create a unique atmosphere for solitude and contemplation of nature, for families with children and friends, for romantic dinners under rustling leaves and for quiet dinners while reading books by a small home pond. Nature gives all the tools to create the necessary mood. You just need to be able to use them.

Fundamentals of modern landscape design

The landscape design of the suburban area is a complex approach to the improvement of the personal plot. This space is designed to blend in with inner peace owner, to be a reflection of his tastes and interests.

In landscape design, as in any other type of space ennobling, there are modern tendenciesfollowed by most professionals.

The origins of the aesthetic design of the site go far back in time. Over the centuries, the styles and directions of landscape design have undergone many qualitative changes. At the moment, there is a striving for naturalness and pristine nature among specialists in land improvement. The alpine slide, the Russian folk garden with an admixture of technological progress: the use of glass, metal, clear geometric shapes, and straight lines, is very fashionable.

Eclecticism prevails in modern landscape design. You need to have a real talent for the harmonious combination of these two incongruous directions. But the result can exceed all expectations.

Modern styles of landscape design

Over the long history of the existence of the art of decorating a personal plot, many of its directions have been formed.

The main ones are:

  • Classic or regular style. Famous French parks are typical representatives of this trend. The idea of such a design is the idea of raising the human mind over nature, subordinating it to the laws of geometry familiar to us.
  • Landscape style. Historically formed as the opposite of the regular trend. It is a "free", maximally pristine landscape. The landscape style is designed to amaze people with the beauty of natural nature, skillfully thought out and created by designers.
  • Rustic style (country). "Home" course landscape style, which are represented by ordinary village gardens in different parts of the world. An arbitrary direction that does not require large investments and careful maintenance of the site. The placement of decorations is arbitrary, depending on the historically established folklore of the area.

  • Architectural style. Pushing natural beauty into the background, he focuses on the decorative buildings of the territory: a terrace, arches, paved areas, architectural reliefs, steps, etc.
  • Japanese style. Design suburban area at oriental style is art. It is filled with symbolism. Landscaping of the site is ideal for creating a classic oriental atmosphere. The main components will be stones, boulders, a small reservoir, a place to contemplate the beauty of nature.

Layouts of the territory around the house

After choosing a suitable style, planning the design of the area near the house follows, determining constituent elements. Competent construction of the site is impossible without the planning stage.

There are several standard layouts that apply to most spaces:

  • Rectangular layout. The most popular win-win. The layout of a rectangular area is easy to zone, conveniently divided into separate sections and is well suited for creating a successful geometric composition.
  • Round layout. Such a layout is artificially created from a rectangular version with the help of auxiliary elements: flower beds, lawns, green spaces, etc. Direct geometric shapes are masked by decor. Designing the landscape around the house in circular motives can be a non-trivial solution.
  • Diagonal layout. Based on creating diagonal parallels. Do-it-yourself landscaping of a small area in a diagonal layout will help to visually expand the space, push its boundaries.
  • Free layout. Reception of free placement of design elements using the natural relief of the territory. It is important to correctly place accents in such a garden. Otherwise, the effect of neglect may appear and the area will lose its landscape attractiveness.

Site zoning

Dividing it into several functional zones will help to make the spacious area the most comfortable and visually enlarge the small backyard space. Their number and size depends entirely on the initial area of the area and its intended purpose.

The territory can be divided into:

  • Garden area;
  • Recreation area;
  • Economic zone;
  • Dining area;
  • Children's area;
  • Sports area.

All zones of the territory should make up a single picture, despite the quality of separate islands on personal plot... The zones should be united by a single idea, style.

One logical zone should flow smoothly into another. For this, it is best to use green spaces, arches and decor.

Whichever type of layout is used, the largest zones are best located at the edge of the square, while the smaller ones are concentrated in the center.

Landscape design composition

Landscaping of the site is a combination of many functional and decorative elements... Below we will take a closer look at the main ones.

Lawn

How a skilled builder lays on the floor of a house flooring, so a skilled gardener covers his area with a lawn. If earlier the lawn was a luxury of emperors, then in modern world everyone can afford to ennoble the territory with a soft grass carpet.

The process of engrafting a lawn is laborious and requires full dedication, but at the end it will bring the owners a well-deserved result in the form of an ideal foundation for the rest of the landscape. In addition to the decorative function, the grass lawn has a positive effect on the structure of the soil and the purity of the air, dampens excess noise.

The choice of lawn must be approached with all seriousness: it will last more than one season. Exists:

  • An ordinary lawn. Is a coating solid color medium density.
  • Sports lawn. It is a denser type of lawn that is not afraid of stress.
  • Decorative lawn. Nice perfect lawnnot intended for walking on it.

garden path

A garden path is a functional element of landscape design. It plays the role of a connecting link of special zones of the territory, they are the "skeleton" of the entire layout of the area. Depending on the chosen stylist, the tracks can be different forms, sizes, made of different materials.

Although classical direction the design of the site is geometric and straight lines, winding paths look more natural in landscape design. Attracting with their ease, they lead the guest through the garden, turn by turn.

The most important question in backyard paths is choice suitable material. In landscape design, variability of finishes is not welcome, but the use of only one material is not necessary. The main thing in this business is harmony and uniformity.

The central paths should be larger and more solid. Mosaic of different colors will look good. The simultaneous combination of different figures and flower arrangements looks advantageous. Modern manufacturers offer custom-made paths. You can emphasize the central alley using the built-in spot lighting.

Dirt paths, decoratively sprinkled with sand or crumbs, will add special charm to the back streets of the garden.

Standard materials for garden paths are:

  • paving stones;
  • gravel;
  • concrete tiles;
  • a natural stone;
  • brick covering;
  • decorative tiles;
  • natural pebbles.

When choosing a material, its compatibility with a specific soil and climatic conditions, in addition to standard conditions exploitation.

Flower garden and planting

It is difficult to imagine the landscape design of a summer cottage without plants. The composition of flower beds can be a real art and the main focus of the entire site. It is important to carry out a competent selection of plants. The main selection criteria will be not only their appearance, but also compatibility with each other, necessary climatic conditions, survivability, etc.

There are the following ways of placing plantings on the site:

  • ... The most popular flower garden, which is a planting of a certain geometric shape of decorative deciduous plants.

  • Group landing. Dense planting separate groups several types.
  • Rabatki. A type of planting of decorative deciduous plants with rectangular stripes for framing the borders of lawns, paths or other elements of landscape design.

  • Border. A type of flower garden in which plants are planted in tiers.

  • Parterre flower garden. A geometrically correct complex flower garden located in front of the entrance to the garden plot. Usually consists of a combination of several types of plants with architectural elements.

  • Mobile flower beds. Plants or flowers that are not adapted to some features of the terrain (soil, some weather conditions, a certain season) are exhibited in the landscape of the site in decorative pots or vases, without transplanting into the ground.

  • Arenarium. An exotic solution will be a corner of the desert in the garden. Various types of succulents and the like are planted in the arenarium artificially covered with sand.

Water bodies

A body of water can be the highlight of any landscape. But before you start creating it as soon as possible, you should think about the appointment. In areas differing in size, it will be appropriate different types reservoirs.

Owners large area, of course, can afford the absolute any size, shape and depth of a water body.

Reservoirs are very laborious to maintain, so you should consider in advance whether its maintenance will be feasible.

Allows you to build as well as breeding small fish. The size of the object up to 8 square meters will be appropriate. When planning a reservoir, you should definitely take into account that the size of the finished pond is visually smaller than originally intended. Therefore, a certain amount of space is needed.

The body of water should be in direct alignment with the overall style of the landscape design. With a regular style, the pool should have straight shapes, and for an infinity pool, asymmetric streams made of natural materials are more suitable.

The landscape design of the summer cottage qualitatively transforms the creation of a fashionable now alpine slide.

Alpine slide is an imitation of the wild mountain landscape with typical plant species. Despite the laborious process of creation, such a decoration can become the pride of the infield of any country house.

Usually, an alpine slide is a kind of rockery: compositions ornamental plants with a stone. To create a rock garden, materials available in our area are used: limestone, granite, gerbils. The live composition is combined from rock plants.

The main accent is given to the rock garden through the play of chiaroscuro. The corresponding effect can be achieved both by the initial selection of a place with beautifully falling rays of the sun, and by creating artificial lighting.

Recreation area with barbecue or hearth

Owning a country house, you can not only usefully spend time for garden work, but also successfully relax in the company of friends, equipping your recreation area with a barbecue or hearth.

The corresponding site can be both open and closed. Although the first option is less laborious, the construction of a small canopy will not only give the place more comfort, but also protect it from direct sunlight or rain. A suitable place to place a recreation area will be spacious and hidden from prying eyes. It is good if there is an area for children next to this place, and a picturesque landscape opens up nearby for admiring. The proximity to the pond will add extra freshness on hot summer days.

The location in the recreation area of a barbecue, hearth or outdoor fireplace is not only a part of its interior, but also an important functional element. In addition to its main purpose, it can be used for heating, creating an atmosphere of comfort on autumn evenings.

Setting up an open-air dining room

Landscaping of a summer cottage with an open dining room is a luxury available to everyone. Eating at fresh air - not just a trend in modern fashion, but also an extremely useful practice that improves metabolism and overall well-being.

To create a summer dining room, first of all, you need a suitable free space. An excellent solution would be a site of about 10 square meters. For convenience, it is worth leading a stone path from the house to the location of the open table.

The open dining room should not be too far from the main house, otherwise the process of transferring dishes and ready-made food can become quite a long and laborious process.

It is important to remember about possible weather surprises and climatic changes: it is necessary to select furniture that is resistant to moisture and equip the dining room with a stationary or mobile canopy. As protection from sunlight, you can use the branches of a large tree, if there is one on the site.

The dining room can be decorated in quality, surrounded by a hedge or left in the open space of the lawn - it all depends solely on the wishes of the owners.

Site lighting

The lighting system of any summer cottage and plot has two functions: practical and aesthetic.

The first involves lighting areas for free movement at night, and the second is designed to create a special atmosphere and highlight the accents of landscape design.

With a cleverly designed lighting system, you can achieve a dramatic nightly transformation of your garden.

Lighting for the landscape design of a summer cottage is:

  • Pouring. It is carried out through the use of floodlights on the auxiliary parts of the perimeter.
  • General. The main part of the lighting is the installation classic lamps along the main objects of the site.
  • Marking. Used to create visual effects for highlighting (marking) functional parts.
  • Decorative lighting of plants, reservoirs, architectural structures.

World gardeners have been very successful in decorating front gardens - which is what the article tells about with a selection of my copyright photographs in the amount of 12 pieces.

More ideas for landscape tricks for giving

The owners of this beautiful summer cottage in the photo solved the issue with landscape design in this way - they sowed the area with lawn grass, leaving space for flower beds and resting places. Stones and tree trimmings were also used.

You can also make decorative stumps out of cement by plastering an old barrel, cut in half, and previously tied with a net.

The owners of this summer cottage love to tinker and find use for all old and not so items. This does not mean at all that the summer cottage will become a collection of all kinds of crafts. It just sometimes happens that a thing that is no longer used in everyday life is perfectly arranged in the backyard.

Beautiful cottages - photo paths

The beautiful winding path looks asymmetrical due to the fact that the landscape on one side is raised with the help of a retaining wall of stone. On the other side, conifers are planted, all together this creates a successful composition.

Steps decoration

The steps leading to the entrance terrace can also be elements of landscape design! It is very simple to perform, but at the same time, the finishing of utilitarian concrete structures with pebbles looks stylish.

Beautiful cottages - photo of steps in the garden

You can also decorate the steps with tub plants, and sow flowering annuals under the lower step. Plant short ones so they don't get trampled.

Use of ampelous plants

Beautiful summer cottages - photo of ampelous plants near the porch

Also, you can decorate the porch railings with ampel plants. To do this, you just need to fix the planter vertically on the inclined plane of the railing.

Of course, if you are used to leaning on them with your hand, then it is better not to do this. Or decorate only one of the two railings - the left one (if you are right-handed). You can even decorate the edge of the roof with hanging plants!

Patio design

Beautiful summer cottages - photo of the courtyard

A Spanish-style courtyard can be made pretty in a simple way: a few must-have touches - white painted walls, terracotta tiles on the floor, tub plants - and your patio will take on a charming Mediterranean shape.

Before entering the house, you can install a pergola for grapes or clematis. It will protect the entrance from the sun's rays. It will be possible to rest in the shade even at noon.

Small plot design

Beautiful summer cottages - photo of a small summer cottage

This plot is very small, but it looks very decorative and well maintained. Its layout is geometric - square slab paths, a small cobbled patio and flower beds allocated to the sides.

Terraces

Beautiful cottages - photo of the terrace

If there is a difference in relief on your site, then you yourself are just lucky - you can decorate the landscape with the help of terraces. And the steps can be made as in the photo - lay a brick in a circle on a cement-sand mortar, and fill the inner part of the circle with fine gravel on a sand cushion.

You can see more material on slope terracing on the page.

Dry stream

Even if you do not have a reservoir on the site, you can arrange a dry waterfall - according to the principle of the landscape technique "dry stream". Imitation of a stone waterfall, even if it is without water, will give your landscape a sophisticated personality.

Barrel circle design

An interesting way to beat the trees on the site is to make flower beds around them. They are arranged in this way - the area around the tree is fenced with natural or artificial stones, it is covered with soil to a height of 30-40 cm, and then flowers and plants are planted there.

Cleft stones in retaining wall can be decorated by planting lawn grass and different beautiful perennials... The grass will need to be trimmed from time to time, otherwise the stones will not be visible.

The photo shows a courtyard with geometric shapes. The squares look very organic. Perhaps this option for organizing the landscape will suit you.

And here you can see a flower garden, the fence of which is a border of sheared shrubs. When planting a flower garden according to this principle, you should know what types of shrubs can be used for a mixborder.

Evening lighting

A plank patio is also a good solution, especially where the soil is waterlogged. And it is more pleasant to walk on wood than on concrete or stone.

In the middle of the lawn, you can create a pleasant floral island of beauty, especially important for large spaces summer cottages.

Beautiful summer cottages - front garden design photo

Even in a small courtyard, a mini pond with a decorative bridge thrown over it will look fresh and harmonious.

If you come to the dacha for the whole summer season, then take your pet with you - a cat or a dog. My husband and I often see a neighbor's cat walking around our site with an important look. And dogs are often heard in summer too.

Video - Landscape Tricks

In conclusion, I suggest you watch a selection of the transfer Landscape Tricks. I get a lot of useful information from this program. There are over 100 trick episodes in this playlist. Watch and be inspired!

It is not difficult to make your own landscape design for a summer cottage. Observing a few rules, you can even turn an ordinary cottage into a wonderful garden with your own hands.

How to get started

More recently, some 15-20 years ago, the suburban area was only a place for planting vegetables and berries. People came there to weed, water and collect a generous crop, which was certainly canned, salted or pickled. A rare piece of land has not been planted with "useful" plants. There were few flowers and ornamental plants, they were planted only in front of the house or along the path, there was no question of landscape design.

But not all summer residents tried to collect only big harvest... There have always been gardeners who designed original flower beds, which involuntarily attracted the glances of passers-by, aroused the admiration of neighbors. Apparently, it was precisely such people who began to actively "introduce" new design ideas for the improvement of the dacha into our consciousness. Gradually, the craving for beauty began to wake up in every summer resident.

Today, almost every land plot owner wants to have at least a small recreation area in his garden, decorated original plants, flowers, a picturesque pond or an alpine slide.

Looking at a photo of some landscape design, the layman will decide that it is impossible to do this himself. But if you follow the saying “the eyes are afraid, but the hands are doing it”, then you can gradually arrange your site quite decently.

The main stages of work:

  • think over what we want and where we will place it all
  • sow the lawn;
  • pick up plants.

You can arrange a gazebo, barbecue area, pond or alpine slide. In some areas there is a place for all this, but someone will have to limit themselves to a couple of elements.

IMPORTANT! The lawn is an obligatory part of landscape design, simple weeds look sloppy, they will disturb the harmony of the entire exposition.

Do-it-yourself landscape design from coniferous trees

For the improvement of our summer house, without fail you need to take some evergreen trees... Thuja, yew, juniper and cypress have already become favorite companions (it is suitable only for warm climates). They do not grow too high, so they will not create a large shadow, they can be shaped into any shape with scissors. By planting them around the perimeter, we get an excellent hedge. These trees fit perfectly into any flower garden, adorn an alpine slide. If there is a wide path on the site, you can place thuja or juniper bushes along it.

Rules for planting and caring for conifers:

  • These trees can be planted in fall or early spring.
  • The soil should be composed of peat, sand and turf.
  • The seedlings need to be watered well.
  • When planting several trees, we leave at least 1.5 m between them.
  • Young plants require feeding with mineral fertilizers.
  • For the winter, conifers up to 5 years old need to be covered.

It happens that the thuja begins to turn yellow after disembarkation. This can happen with poor soil, damaged roots, or sparse watering.

We design with junk materials

Figures made from improvised means or unnecessary things look very cute in the country. Also old furniture, decorated like a flower shelf looks original.

What seems like rubbish at first glance can be easily turned into a wonderful interior detail by connecting a little imagination. It is difficult for a homegrown designer to come up with something right away or to embody their ideas. Then tips from experienced craftsmen and photos of their work can help.

What will we use?

We will need:

  • plastic bottles, large and small;
  • old dishes (kettles, pots);
  • boxes, etc.

For crafts, you need to stock up on multi-colored paint and glue. And, of course, you need to be patient!

We decorate flower beds

What's the secret beautiful flower beds? How to plant flowers correctly so that from spring to autumn the appearance of the site is bright?

Landscape designers have come up with several ways to decorate flower beds:

  • discount;
  • border;
  • mixborder.

Rabatkoy called a strip of flowers that borders the lawn. It is often planted in parks with large lawns. The rabatka can be made in one, two or several colors, flowers of different heights can be used, forming a "ladder".

Border - This is the usual planting of plants along the path. For this, annual or perennial flowers are taken. But creeping, densely growing varieties look best. When considering how to effectively arrange flowers in the country, it is better to choose plants of various shades for the border and the main composition.

Mixborder - This is a flower bed, consisting of a wide variety of flowers, planted in groups. The essence of its creation is to combine not only bright contrasting colors, but also plants blooming in different time... Mixborder should always bloom!

This is not easy to achieve. To create such a miracle, you need to work for more than one season.

Arrange the flowers in order seasonal flowering... We divide the flowerbed into three main parts. Each of them should consist of plants that bloom in spring, summer and closer to autumn.

Video about creating a flower bed with your own hands

To create such a mixborder, you need to strain! But then you can enjoy the continuous flowering all season.

How to plant a lawn with your own hands

As we said, the lawn is the basis from which we will build... There are several types of lawns. For beginners, it is better to make a universal one, it does not require serious care and is quite suitable for any purpose. And the main goal is beauty, neatness and comfort for relaxation.

If the land where the lawn is planned is clean, it will need to be dug up, leveled, tamped, and then sown with seeds. From above, they need to be covered with dry earth so that the birds do not peck.

Very often, the desire to equip the lawn appears even when the cottage has been built for a long time, and I want to finally highlight and decorate a corner for relaxation. Usually there is a place where the company constantly gathers, barbecues are fried and there are sun loungers. The grass grows there in scraps, no one has touched it for many years, and the earth is already heavily compacted.

This is a "difficult" case for a novice landscape designer.

First of all, we get rid of weeds once and for all!

Now chemicals are used for this, which are poured over the weeds, and then they are dug up. The substance penetrates to the very roots, and the plant dies. After such a procedure, the soil should rest for at least 2 weeks.

Those who deny any gross interference in the affairs of nature can simply uproot the grass from the ground and wait until it begins to germinate again. After 3-4 weeks, the sprouts that appear are removed again and carefully dug up. The soil should be loose, without lumps. It is advisable to add mineral fertilizers before digging. They will help the new young grass grow quickly and gain strength.

Then we sow the area with lawn grass. We choose a versatile lawn mix. Why is it suitable for us?

Advantages:

  • unpretentious care;
  • normally withstands shade and lack of moisture;
  • frost-resistant.

Note! Get good lawn it is unlikely to work right away. We'll have to work hard for a couple of seasons.

Until the cultivated grass has grown, it will be necessary to constantly remove the weeds, otherwise they will "kill" the young growth. It may be necessary to sow the areas where the birds pecked the seeds, or for some reason it did not sprout.

But after passing all the difficulties, it will be possible to walk barefoot on a dense lawn every year.

Care rules:

  • Mow in dry weather (wet grass is difficult to mow evenly).
  • We do not let it grow too much (it will be difficult to align it).
  • Water during a drought (but do not fill!).

How to equip the entire garden area

We know there are many ways to transform a boring vegetable garden or empty lot. You can add a flower garden or an alpine slide to the free space in front of the house, or you can completely redraw the entire plan and arrange everything beautifully. Here the house and the bathhouse are in their places, there are beds, greenhouses, but I want something else. After all, we saw how interesting and picturesque some craftsmen equip their weave.

To begin with, let's decide what we would like and what we can afford from this.

There is a place for a decorative pond - great! Is there a place for a barbecue? Better! Well, let's not forget about decorating the site with plants, they will solo throughout the season.

In the shop for the garden and vegetable garden, we acquire a container, which will serve as an artificial reservoir. We dig a hole under it in the chosen place. Be sure to plant low-growing ground cover plants and flowers around the pond. You can put a toy frog, duck or swan in the water. You can make them yourself or buy them.

It would be nice to place a gazebo and a place for barbecue next to the reservoir. If you don't want to make a stationary gazebo, you can pull up an awning, place a table and chairs under it, and put a barbecue nearby.

We sow lawn grass in all recreation areas and playgrounds.

Be sure to decorate the path with a border of flowers and allocate a place for a mixborder, albeit a small one. Next to it, as well as throughout the site, we will arrange conifers different forms and sizes. They still give some special style to the landscape design! It seems incomplete without them.

Well, of course, you cannot plant trees and shrubs near the barbecue, they will turn yellow and dry out.

If you have a fence, you can wrap it around with wild grapes or beans.

On a spacious plot, it is easy to find a place for the famous alpine slide, the blue dream of every summer resident.

Key design points:

  • lawn;
  • mixborder;
  • conifers;
  • small architectural forms (decorative ponds, gazebos, various figures).

Design of plots of various sizes

Landscaping for 5 ares

Yes! Although he is small, but his own! And on five acres you want comfort!

Immediately I want to point out what cannot be done in small areas.

  • No need to put up a high fence
  • Refrain from planting pine or spruce
  • Don't try to squeeze in whatever you like.

The fenced area looks even smaller. It will look more like a cage.

Any hedge can be planted with climbing plants, they will smooth out the borders and serve as an additional decoration.

A pine or spruce tree will sooner or later grow and create a large shade. In general, it will take up a lot of valuable space.

With only 5 acres of land, it is best to make a large lawn and plant small shrubs and islands of various colors.

Landscaping for 10 acres

This area allows you to place more useful objects.

In addition to a house, a bathhouse, a parking space for a car, there will be a children's pool and a cozy gazebo. You can leave room for fruit trees and shrubs, as well as a greenhouse and garden beds.

But even on such a site, you will still have to prioritize and focus either on the garden or on the recreation area.

Having bought a new plot, you should always think over in advance not only the development plan, but also the design. Determine where you will gather with friends, in what place you will organize a playground, how much space will be taken for boarding.

12 acres is not 10, and on additional meters you can put a swing and even a trampoline. If there are no children, then a tennis table or a couple of alpine slides will not hurt.

Some people like free space, clean lawn and beautiful shrubs around the perimeter. You can put or plant something there at any time.

On the one hand, such a site is good because it can accommodate almost everything your heart desires. But, on the other hand, it is very important to correctly distribute everything functional areasso that there is no feeling of desolation or chaos.

By purchasing this amount of land, it is unlikely that we plan to plant it all with potatoes. Therefore, a clear arrangement plan is needed. You need to understand how we will occupy each piece of free space.

The area allows you to separate and divide the site using a hedge (thuja, juniper). Along the fence you can plant fruit trees and shrubs.

In the middle of the site, you can equip a large stationary pool, and place everything else around it.

Any free space should be well maintained. Let it be an ordinary lawn, but without trash and weeds.

Particular attention should be paid to the tracks. They can be laid out with paving stones, stone or wood. Along it, you can place small lamps that will effectively burn at night.

When creating the design of your site, calculate your strength. Let caring for the cottage bring only pleasure.

It seems to many that create exclusive design garden plot with your own hands, as in a photo gallery, this is something unreal. But this is not the case. Design ideas can be easily transferred to the local area of your own summer cottage or country house, creating a unique landscape with an atmosphere of harmony and comfort. A small, cozy garden or a luxurious park requires the same approach, both in terms of architecture and design, as well as in the choice of plants and space planning. The landscape design of a garden plot is a whole philosophy that unites nature and life. There are many options for arranging a garden with a local area, among them you can always choose one that will fully meet individual needs. Style, harmony, convenience and simplicity are the foundations for creating a unique atmosphere necessary for a relaxed vacation and comfortable country life.

Design project

To create a landscape design on a garden plot with your own hands is not so much realistic as necessary, because today the dacha has ceased to be exclusively a place for growing vegetables. A country house is, first of all, a place where city dwellers come to take a break from the hustle and bustle, to admire nature, in a word - to relax.

There is absolutely no difference: 4, 6 or 10 acres are available. With careful planning, if you manage the space rationally, think over the design, even on a modest size of the site, you can create a landscape of stunning beauty.

Advice! When developing a design project for a garden plot on your own, numerous photos from already ready-made solutions... Even if such a project cannot be fully implemented, you can always apply on your site especially liked ideas of arrangement or decor.

The outlines of the area should be transferred to paper, making detailed plan... After that, you can proceed to the allocation of functional areas - economic, recreation, decorative.

Advice! The purpose of the future site should be taken into account in advance: only decorative, combined with an economic one, or exclusively for recreation.

All zones need to be filled based on their purpose, their own needs, the desired style. This stage includes the selection of vegetation, architectural details, arrangement of reservoirs, lighting, laying paths and other communications.

Separately, it is worth considering the boundaries of each site, which will help hedges or lattice partitions entwined with ivy. Paths, an artificial pond, garden sculptures can be a good border. The main thing is that the separation of the zones looks as natural as possible, without sharp drops or breaks.

Advice! The sloping terrain of the site often presents a lot of problems. But if you organize correctly drainage system in the lower part, and the slope is divided into several terraces, then you can achieve an amazing decorative effect, at the same time dividing the entire area into functional zones in height.

Garden style

The success of the landscape design of the garden area largely depends on the well-chosen stylistic solution. The style should not only take into account the size, relief and location of the backyard territory, but also emphasize the character of the owner. The differences in styles and their features are clearly demonstrated by the photo gallery, but before trying on this or that design for your site, it is better to study the features of each.

English style

Such a design is distinguished by maximum naturalness, lack of symmetry, and an abundance of greenery. The appearance of the site seems to have descended from an idyllic landscape painting.

Vegetation is matched to all types. A well-groomed lawn must be present, deciduous trees, trimmed shrubs, lush multi-tiered flower beds. The latter are mainly composed of flowering plants and shrubs (roses, irises, cyclamens, oleanders, etc.). Trees should give a lot of shade, so willows should be planted along with fruit trees.

This solution will look best on a spacious area with noticeable uneven terrain, where a smooth lawn abruptly turns into hilly terrain. The space should be divided into a garden and a park area, connecting them with winding paths with benches in the shade of trees, ponds framed by stone.

Mediterranean style

The Mediterranean design is simple and all key elements are set around the patio. This patio is usually paved with stone, covered with wood flooring, partially surrounded by brick wallpainted white or terracotta.

The vegetation is represented by an even green lawn, bright areas are formed using flower beds. A carved pergola (wooden or forged), partially entwined with ivy, must be present, and protection from the sun is provided blackout curtains from light textiles. The relaxation area with this design must be complemented with wicker furniture, a canopy from the sun, decorated with massive vases with bright flowers, graceful sculptures, and fountains.

French style

The French style will suit owners of spacious backyard areas located next to a large stone house... This style is characterized by luxury and an abundance of free space. The centerpiece of the site will be a wide alley along which neatly trimmed shrubs and trees are planted, antique statues and elaborate flowerpots are placed.

Main features french design - symmetry, respect for proportions, clarity of lines, which can be traced throughout. It is definitely worth supplementing the site with fountains in classic style, artificial porticoes, grottoes or labyrinths, columns, stone bridges... The garden must be at a level below the main building for a full view.

East style

The Japanese style is suitable for both tiny plots of 4 acres, and for an extensive backyard area. Minimalism and laconicism can be traced in everything: the absence of lush decor, flowering plants, complex shapes. There must be a reservoir around which large stones can be laid out. In its center, an island will look good, which can be reached through a wooden bridge without railings.

From vegetation, preference should be given to evergreen trees and shrubs, including dwarf ones. Maples and fruit trees add color to the garden in spring and autumn. The paths should be covered with gravel, large stones can be laid out in some areas, setting the pace of movement.

Advice! Instead of a flower garden, it is appropriate to set up a rock garden. AT evening time day, the site will be effectively complemented by built-in lighting.

The Chinese style will suit fans of the Feng Shui philosophy, which implies the harmony of all elements and the arrangement of decorative elements that provides freedom to the flow of energy. In the garden area, there should be a reservoir around which compositions of green spaces and stones should be placed.

Gazebo-pagoda, bright wooden bridges, paths in the form of stairs, artificial waterfall, Buddha statue emphasize harmony with nature. Must be planted bright flowers red, yellow, purple shades, as well as take care of an even lawn of dense grass or moss of a rich emerald hue. Bright orange lanterns hanging along the paths and next to the gazebo will add color.

Garden design: objects

The landscape design of a garden plot always repels from any main object, which can be a residential building, unusual relief, trees, a neat lawn, etc. Taking into account their style and location, the site is supplemented with secondary objects, these include:

  • Green spaces.
  • Gazebos and architectural elements.
  • Artificial reservoirs.
  • Garden sculptures.
  • Lighting.
  • Tracks.

The final design should combine beauty and convenience, style and comfort. You should not try to place everything on the backyard at once. It is enough to limit yourself to the necessary and maintain the chosen style.

Green spaces

Landscaping is the most important element of garden design. Plants create a background for all other objects, fill the space with a special charm, uniting it with the surrounding nature.

Landscaping of the site includes the phased planting of the following plants:

  1. Trees and shrubs of various heights - create a shade, delimit the area, highlight separate zones. In the walking area, it is best to plant low-growing shrubs or fruit trees that let in sunlight and form a comfortable environment, serve as an excellent framing for paths. Coniferous vegetation is recommended to be planted in recreation areas, and willows or tall shrubs will look good next to water bodies.
  2. Flower beds should be broken up when the main landscape has already been formed. Plants for them are selected taking into account the size of the site and the flowering period of each species. Will look spectacular along fences or walls vertical fitwhen the plant height gradually decreases. The shade of the colors in the background should be darker and richer than those in the front, which gives visual volume and depth. Alpine slides allow you to beat the existing relief of the site or create a new one.
  3. The design of buildings and garden objects with the help of vegetation helps to achieve the unity of architecture with nature. These can be all kinds of climbing plants that adorn the walls of arbors, steps and garden sculptures, as well as flowers or shrubs planted along the water bodies.
  4. The lawn will serve as an element that will connect all the zones on the site into a single whole. It must be neat and well-groomed. Any lawn can be considered herbaceous plants, including blooming ones.
  5. Advice! The beds, if necessary, should be placed in economic zone... If the site is small, then it is best to design them not in a standard way, but in the form of a semicircle, which will help to more efficiently use the available area, and visually expand the space.

    The design of a small garden area should be moderate, the abundance of flowers and plants can look heavy, "eat up" the usable area.

    Gazebos and architectural elements

    The main building on the garden plot is a residential building, but it does not have to be the central element of the design, and even more so the only place for leisure and recreation. In design adjoining territory great attention is paid to the use of all possible architectural elements, which help to competently manage the space, make it more practical and comfortable. Buildings also serve spectacular decor, giving the site an aesthetic and habitable look. Among them are:

  • Gazebos and pergolas should be placed next to water bodies, in a park area. On a plot of 4 acres, it is appropriate to install a small open gazebo with lattice walls, placing it at a distance from the house. Such a building is best designed with climbing plants or a group of trees. A spacious area can be decorated with a large pergola with textile curtains or a gazebo with columns, located on the shore of a reservoir or among a cluster of trees.
  • A patio or summer kitchen simultaneously serves as an outbuilding and a resting place. Such a building is most often located in the immediate vicinity of the house or adjacent to one of its walls. In this case, the style and material of the building must match the design of the main building.
  • Bridges over water bodies or ravines, as well as arches, help to effectively delimit the space on the site, while simultaneously ensuring a smooth transition from one zone to another. It is recommended to plant near bridges tall plants, and the arch will be complemented by climbing vines or lush flower beds. The elements themselves can be either wood or stone, depending on the style of the site.
  • A recreation area must be present in the garden, regardless of its size. It is best to highlight such a place using wood flooring, stone slabs or a neat lawn. The resting place should be equipped with benches and barbecues, swings, a pool, etc.

Advice! Do not forget about outbuildings when decorating a site. They should organically fit into the overall style, if necessary, they should be covered with vegetation or a decorative hedge.

Artificial reservoirs

The presence of a reservoir in a garden plot can completely transform its appearance. Water makes the landscape dynamic, alive, refreshes in the heat, fills the garden with a serene atmosphere.

Thinking over the design of garden plots of 6 acres or more, you should pay attention to the construction of an artificial reservoir, the size and purpose of which depends on individual needs:

  • The fountain is ideal for small areas. A reservoir of this type serves as a source of constantly moving water, it can have any frame that fits into the most different styles... Using a fountain, you can mark the center of the site or emphasize any part of it.
  • The waterfall will be an excellent solution for a garden with uneven terrain. Streams of water can flow down the stones of rockeries or alpine hills, forming a small pond below, framed by plants. At the top of the waterfall can be installed water Mill, decorative fountain.
  • Ponds and circulating canals are ideal for large areas. Such reservoirs will add naturalness to the landscape, in addition, they can be used as a source of water for watering the garden. You can launch fish, ducks into the finished pond, plant plants around it and install a gazebo. A reservoir of complex or elongated shape can be supplemented with a bridge that will connect different banks, continuing the paths.

Advice! The framing of the reservoir can be natural, in the form of a sand embankment or vegetation. Ponds and canals with stone framing look spectacular, which can be complemented by flowerpots with flowers or antique statues that eventually become covered with moss.

Garden sculptures

Spectacular accessories add a highlight to any site. The use of garden sculptures allows you to form an individual style, emphasize the character and features of the landscape.

Garden sculptures can be anything from antique statues to modern ceramic animal figurines. Greek or Gothic statues made of stone or metal will look good both in the midst of plants and on the shore of a reservoir. And bright ceramic figurines will complement flower beds or revive the recreation area, make the walk more interesting.

Another spectacular accessory is stone flowerpots, inside of which you can plant flowers. Such decor can be made in any style from antique to modern, abstract. Sizes and shapes also vary, which allows you to choose a product for almost any area.

Tracks

Arrangement of garden paths will help to make the garden plot as functional and convenient as possible. These elements set the pace for the landscape, serve as its decoration, delimit the area and help to move freely around it.

The material for the tracks should be selected that is resistant to the effects of the atmosphere, temperature, strong and durable. Gravel works best paving slabs, wooden flooring.

Advice! Than less plot, the more winding the paths should be - this technique visually expands the space.

An obligatory element of garden paths is a framing, which can be curb stones, large cobblestones, tall vegetation, trimmed shrubs, etc.

Advice! Paths should be provided with a slight incline from the center to the edge so that water does not accumulate on them.

Along the paths in the garden, benches should be placed that will make any walk comfortable. They should emphasize the unity of style, complement it. Benches can be stone, wrought iron, wooden, with or without backrest.

Lighting

When creating a garden design with your own hands, be sure to take care of the lighting. With the help of backlighting, you can not only secure movement around the local area at night, but also emphasize the features of its design. The following can act as functional and decorative light sources in the garden:

  • Lanterns - they can be placed next to benches or along paths.
  • Wall lights - most often they are installed on verandas of summer kitchens, in gazebos.
  • Built-in lights and lighting - can be located next to any decorative element in the garden (under statues, along the fence, around the reservoir, under bridges and arches). The illumination of the lawn, which is provided by special lamps installed in the soil, will look spectacular.
  • Hanging balls and garlands - This type of decorative lighting gives the garden a festive look. With its help, you can create a comfortable atmosphere both in a small gazebo and on open space recreation areas. Garlands can twine around the trunks or branches of trees, buildings, creating a soft shimmer.

Do-it-yourself garden design will not cause problems if you take into account all the recommendations, as well as correlate them with the existing conditions. A competent choice of style and filling guarantees an amazing result even in a small area.

Gone are the days when the project of landscape design of a summer cottage was limited only to the arrangement of a house, a flower garden, a garden for vegetables, several fruit or decorative trees for garden. Now the design of the site is a real art that allows you to create comfort and coziness in any territory - from 6 acres and more.

Landscaping project for a summer cottage of 6 acres

When starting planning any territory, you need to consider:

  • terrain relief (flat, terraced, close to mountains, ravines);
  • the shape of the site is rectangular, trapezoidal, triangular, with rounded corners;
  • soil type - sandy, chernozem, clayey.

The form of ownership is very important for developing a plan. The design style depends on it.

The plan of the estate of 6 acres is one of the most difficult tasks. After all, a small area should accommodate a house, a garden, a recreation area. Many people also want to equip a decorative pond, to have a place for outbuildings.

A good option is the geometric style. This saves space and makes efficient use of every piece of land. When planning a place for building a house, you need to position it so that it does not obscure the garden and garden.

First of all, you need to divide the territory:

  1. House with outbuildings.
  2. Garden area.
  3. Rest zone.

The optimal size of the house is 5x6 meters with a small terrace. A compact shower, utility block, other small buildings can be placed together by dividing with a partition.

Space will be needed to build a toilet. So that it does not stand out, you can plant shrubs or trees around.

When choosing a place for a garden, you need to take into account that trees will grow over time and can interfere not only with the owners of the estate, but also with neighbors. It will not be possible to plant many trees, a maximum of 4-5 fruit trees.

It is advisable to arrange vegetable beds where there are many sunlight... After all, vegetables love the sun and water. It is not worth planting a lot. It is better to calculate how much you really need, then all you need will fit in the beds, there will even be room for a small flower garden.

The seating area, which is usually a table with several chairs made of wood, can be placed under the shade of trees. You can also afford a small gazebo, entwined with ivy or grapes, but giving up an extra bed or flower garden.

Design of plots 10 ares

Landscape design on 10 acres is guaranteed to create a unique one that will not be similar to any other suburban area. You can plan the location of the beds and recreation areas on your own, but it is more creative, perhaps a ready-made landscape design project, which will be made by landscaping specialists, taking into account the wishes of the customer.

Fantasy, creativity, individuality - this is what will allow you to create a picturesque green corner even on a small plot of land, where you can not only grow vegetables and fruits, but also enjoy a weekend or summer vacation.

Before proceeding with the arrangement of the summer cottage, you need to decide which style you choose. Not only the architecture of the house depends on this, but also the selection of plants, their geometry of planting, characteristic decorative elements.

For example, on the property of 10 acres it is unlikely that it will be possible to embody the French style. After all, it involves a large garden, for the care of which you will need a gardener.

But English will be harmonious. It provides for the natural placement of elements in a specific landscape. Trees, shrubs, flowers, grass are planted in tiers. This style is characterized by a complete lack of symmetry, an abundance of greenery. Winding paths, slopes, natural reservoirs look organic. You don't have to bother with plants either. Anything that grows in the area is suitable.

Japanese style works too. It assumes the presence of a small artificial reservoir, decorative, natural original stones, lanterns in the yard. From plants, preference is given to juniper, dwarf pines. Neatness and restraint are characteristic of the Japanese garden.

Patio patio, wrought iron or wicker furniture, hammock, flowers in pots are inherent mediterranean style, which will organically fit even in our latitudes. Stone-paved paths, a green lawn, a gazebo entwined with plants, a small fountain will create a comfortable atmosphere for relaxation.

Design of plots of 15 acres

Dacha ownership of 15 acres also does not have a large scale. But this is already a medium-sized dacha. There is where fantasy unfolds. Most often it is a rectangle of 30x50 meters.

Experts say that in such an area you can freely arrange:

  • house;
  • summer kitchen;
  • economic block;
  • garage or carport;
  • recreation area - gazebo, playground;
  • small garden;
  • green lawn, flower beds;
  • garden.

And if you abandon the garden, then the place will be free even for a sports ground.

If desired, hosts can choose finished projects landscape design of plots by contacting landscape specialists. Then all the canons of the chosen style will be observed, or, introduced at the request of the owner, will not go beyond the style.

If the area is rectangular, a regular style is best. It is distinguished by precise lines and symmetry. You can implement it yourself.

If the area is irregular and the surface is uneven, it is best to stick to landscape style... This is a complete lack of symmetry. True, it seems so only at first glance. In fact, you need to think through every design detail. Only then can the desired impression be achieved. Landscaping assumes the presence of:

  • irregular flower beds;
  • small artificial reservoirs;
  • decorating with natural materials, such as stone;
  • forged items in the yard.

If there are already buildings, and the owner wants to update the territory, the best option - mixed style. In this case, regular and landscape styles go well.

Placing zones in the summer cottage

Regardless of the size of the plot of land, when planning its development, you need to take into account in which part of the world you intend to place this or that zone.

All buildings are best placed on the north side. This way they will not block out other areas from sunlight. But the windows of the house, preferably not to the north. Then the house will always be sunny and light. The terrace and veranda are located on the south side.

You can also refuse a traditional fence. Instead, it is better to plant green hedge from the bushes. Blackberries, wild grapes will do.

Planting trees around the house is undesirable. They will obscure the light. Better to plant jasmine or lilac.

The garden area can be located near the house. But in front of it, currants, gooseberries, raspberries are first planted, and then trees - apple trees, plums and others.

The recreation area assumes the presence of:

  • arbors;
  • benches;
  • barbecue;
  • pool.

For the pool, you need to choose a well-lit place; there you can also equip a playground for children - a sandbox, a swing, a horizontal bar.

The Chinese argue that a garden is a single organism that does not presuppose the dominance of any zone over another. The main thing is naturalness. Ideal if the garden is rectangular or square. Everything should look like it is years old. The center is not recommended to be planted with tall trees.

Garden paths should be smooth without sharp corners. Then, according to Feng Shui, no negative energies the owner is not afraid. And also, in the left corner of the garden, it is recommended to plant trees blooming in red and blue. This guarantees the family well-being. It would be good to plant the right corner with white and pink flowers... Then the family will be doomed to love and harmony.

To attract success, it would be good to give the central part of the garden under an arch made of living plants.

Sculptures in the garden

Sculptures can become an original decoration of the garden. The main thing is that they are neatly made. Their number may vary. But if there is any doubt about this or that decoration, it is better to refuse it. In the photo you can see what a family of owls is a good decor for a hemp that has not been uprooted.

Figures that are on sale are usually ceramic or made of polymer resin. They are resistant to climatic changes, but it is still better to hide them by winter. Most of the cheap plastic stamping will not be an interior decoration, although there are exceptions. The sculptures can be made by yourself. Then, for sure, you will not see anything like it anywhere.

Such decorative decoration is used in two cases:

  1. As a decoration itself, it is not tied to any theme.
  2. As an addition to the thematic corner.

Remember! Figures, small sculptures should be positioned so that they are often seen. But, in addition to the aesthetic function, sometimes garden decorations carry a purely practical load - it can be a fountain, container, flowerpot.

And from an ordinary rubber baby ball you can make a big bright berry. "Planting" mushrooms in the garden is also real. For the legs, you will need pipe pieces, and the caps are cast from cement. Brightly colored hats will delight the eye and improve mood.

Tracks

The connecting link of any style embodied in the summer cottage are paths. They occupy up to 20 percent of the total area. Their coverage may vary in different areas. The ceremonial and utility rooms are best made from natural materials. For this, a stone, gravel coating is suitable. Such tracks will look beautiful, and most importantly, they are reliable and durable. In the recreation area, the paths can be covered with screenings or pebbles.

The width of the front entrance, as a rule, is up to two meters, the secondary paths are made at will from 40 to 80 centimeters. The main thing is that two people can freely disperse.

  1. Instead of a site paved with tiles or other hard materials, you can cover the free space with a lawn. It is not necessary to sow lawn grass for this. There is such a plant as the bent bent. It is considered a weed, but it can be ideal for a summer cottage. After all, it does not grow up, but crawls along the ground. It is pleasant to walk barefoot on such an emerald lawn.
  2. If you have a large garden, many buildings, and there is little space left for a flower bed, you can group vegetable plants with flowers in the same bed. For example, plant cucumbers in the center, and do not let them crawl on the ground, but put a trellis on which they will crawl. Plant tomatoes nearby and flowers around. The flower bed should be small so that you can get vegetables from the garden without harming the flowers.
  1. At each cottage there are zones that are unsightly to the eye - compost boxes, various summer cottages. They can be masked by climbing plants. Similarly, you can decorate a veranda or gazebo.
  2. Even an old tree that needs to be uprooted for a long time can become a decoration for a yard or garden. When cutting it, leave a stump up to one and a half meters, plant curly ivy next to it, grapevine other creepers. Over time, a wonderful composition is formed.
  3. Don't go to extremes when experimenting with styles. In pursuit of compliance, they can be deprived of coziness or comfort.
  4. Many different decorative elements - flower beds, garden bridges and sculptures can deprive a summer cottage of elementary aesthetics.
