Facades of houses in the country. Finishing materials for facades of private houses

One and the same house, as well as a group of buildings, may look different, you just need to change the design of the facade of the house. At the same time, the design of the facades of a private house is a task quite powerful for any owner who wants to save at least a little or loves to do everything with his own hands.

Decorating facades is a fascinating thing, so multifaceted that you can remodel your home at least every season. And any, even the most insignificant element is of great importance here.

Color, for example, influences the perception of a home and sets the mood it needs. Therefore, before decorating, first of all, they select a color scheme, choose a combination of colors and a general tone direction.

The right texture will give the house style and relieve it of the monotonous look.
The skillful composition of these two components will create general style your home and will distinguish it from the rest.

What materials do we have

But before you start diving into all the subtleties of changing the appearance of your home, the first thing you need to do is familiarize yourself with the materials that you personally or your contractors will decorate the exterior walls with, their features and nuances during work.

The design of the facades of a private house can be performed using the following materials:

  • plaster for facades;
  • siding;
  • tiles or stone;
  • brickwork.

These are the main types of facade finishing materials that will be offered to you in the first place in any company that makes the decoration of the facades of houses in your region.

Decorative facade plaster

Let's start with façade plaster as it is the most common type of exterior wall decoration at the moment.

This type of facade has another name - "wet". This is because the process of its application includes "wet" work. Specially developed mixtures are used to decorate the outer walls of houses and other buildings, and we will consider this issue in more detail.

Mineral plaster

Mineral is one of the cheapest and therefore the most commonly used. But before buying, remember that this finishing material has the least plasticity and its durability is not very great. Although this can be considered not even a minus, given the price and excellent environmental qualities.

When covered with this type of plaster, the house continues to "breathe" without any problems, and in order for the air in it to remain clean, ordinary ventilation is sufficient.

Do not use this plaster on front side houses and buildings that are located near the motorway or railway station.

Vibration and noise will be transmitted to the walls, causing cracks to form.

The "life" period of mineral plaster is about 10 years. When using on new buildings, you should wait - the house should shrink.

Acrylic plaster

Good plastic qualities and moisture resistance shows acrylic plasterbut when using this type of plaster, the decorative facades of houses cannot breathe. This is not entirely a drawback, since this type of plaster will not be replaceable for those or along railroadabsorbing unnecessary vibrations.

But acrylic plaster, like mineral plaster, has the ability to absorb dust, so for buildings located near roads, this will not be the best choice... In addition, it has high strength, and the lack of the ability to "breathe" is compensated for ventilation systemsinstalled inside. Acrylic plaster serves up to 20 years.

Silicate plaster

Silicate plasters have "absorbed" all the best properties: they are plastic and at the same time allow air to pass through. The added anti-static performance only adds to their glory.

But it is considered the most expensive type of "wet" plaster. Expensive both the material itself and the installation work. Decorating the facade of the house with silicate plaster allows you to protect the outer walls from most adverse factors environment... She lasts up to 25 years.

Silicone plaster

The most relevant of all "wet" plasters is now considered to be silicone. And they do it like that:

  • good elasticity,
  • the ability to "breathe"
  • antistatic.

She is the only one of all who does not absorb all kinds of chemical elements and salt.

Subject to the entire application technology, the plaster will last up to 25 years, even if it is "located" near the highway. Making the facades of a private house with silicone plaster, one might say, "preserves" the outer walls of your home for two to three decades.

Tool and surface preparation

Work on the application of facade plaster can be carried out both manually and mechanically.

To apply plaster mix manually, you only need standard tools that can be purchased at any hardware store.

If you want to create a beautiful textured surface, you will need special spatulas and some skills to work with these types of compounds.

The decoration of the facade of the house with any types of plasters should be carried out in accordance with technological map... During the execution of work, it is necessary to observe all the technological features that the manufacturer specified.

Preparation for work is as follows:

  • prepare walls for work, remove dirt and old layers of trim. Fill holes and large potholes with a special solution.
  • to improve the adhesion properties of materials, it will not be superfluous to prime the surface.
  • install beacons for a perfectly even application.

Preparation is over, you can start applying.

Plastering and painting

The first step is spraying. Throw in the solution with sharp movements, then level it along the beacons. The job is difficult and requires a certain level of endurance. A plastering machine can speed up the work, but the price will be higher.

If there is a need for additional leveling, apply a second coat, always after the first coat is completely dry.

Shaping and other work will depend only on what type of plaster you have chosen.

The final stage will be. But if you are using special plasters with pigmented elements, this is not necessary.

Vinyl siding

See for yourself:

  • using vinyl siding a protective screen is formed around the wall, while it is ventilated;
  • these panels do not allow moisture to get directly onto the walls and the facade is easy to clean;
  • good durability;
  • does not spread fire, but harmful compounds are released during melting.

You should not rejoice at the low price of PVC facade, the work on its installation and additional materials are much more expensive. The cost can be found out only after carrying out all the necessary measurements and calculating all additional materials required for finishing work.

The most important element when installing this type of facade is the expansion and contraction calculation. Be careful and see that the craftsmen calculate everything as it should, otherwise in the summer the panels will be warped and you will have to resort to alteration.

The cost of wood siding is great, but it looks very solid. Unfortunately, its service life is not very long, although, given modern wood processing technologies, its durability can be increased. The wood is specially treated under high pressure. This increases the density and resistance to the destructive factors of the external environment.

Metal siding

Metal siding is considered to be durable, fireproof and modest.

It is made of zinc-coated steel, which undergoes additional polymer processing on top.

It has several disadvantages: a small selection of colors and textures.

Of course, metal conducts current, but this problem is solved by grounding.

Radio magnetic waves do not penetrate into the house very well: mobile phones in the house will pick up the signal weakly, but your home will be shielded from unwanted electromagnetic radiation, which in a modern city is one of the sources of chronic diseases.

When decorating the facade of a house with siding, be sure to calculate the amount of material, the necessary accessories and fasteners.

If you have the necessary skills in decorating houses, you can complete the entire robot yourself. In general, this is an exciting activity, you can do it only for the sake of getting positive emotions. Many homeowners consider decorating their own homes as a hobby, buy expensive tools and strive to do everything in the end with their own hands, without hiring employees or construction companies.

Installation of siding panels

Level differences should be no more than 2 cm. All large defects that can affect the strength of the reinforcement of the bearing profiles are subject to mandatory leveling.

Wood walls should be thoroughly cleaned of rot, rotten boards should be replaced, and then everything should be treated with a special primer with disinfecting properties.

Be sure to set the structure for fastening the panels vertically, make the lathing step somewhere in the 50 cm.

Galvanized profiles are easy to install using special hangers, they are simply attached to the walls.

When installing wooden profiles, remember that their moisture content should not exceed 20%. Start from the left corner of the wall and go to the right, always vertically, without distortions and slopes, a step of about 50-60 cm.

They are fastened to stainless dowels or self-tapping screws. It is not recommended to use carnations, because of the weather this type of fastener can loosen.

Remember, siding can shrink or expand during temperature changes, leave a gap of 4 to 9 mm from the edge of the mounting holes.

Tiled facade

The tiled facade looks beautiful, but the price for its implementation is rather big, while it is imperative to preserve the installation technology.

Such facades are made with all seriousness and for a long time. Even an ordinary wall can become a work of art with this type of decoration, and the decor of the facade of the house itself will make your neighbors envy. Do not forget that tiles for decorating external walls should be specifically for external walls, and not for internal ones, they are different.

Decide on the pattern before laying the tiles. The surface can be simply smooth or with some kind of pattern. Several colors are often used to add a more beautiful style and mood to a home. You can come up with your own version, or you can choose from ready-made ones.

Installation of tiles on external walls

Installation work begins after the installation of the battens. Fasten the frame vertically, relative to the floor line.

Choose fasteners in accordance with the surface with which the tile will be connected.

Use a water level to create horizontal markings, this will make it easier to attach to the screws. Remember, tiles are laid from the bottom up, always from the corner of the house. The first tile is attached with 4 self-tapping screws, all the following ones are attached to 2.

The tile can be fixed differently, if there are no fastening elements, just sit it on the glue. Consider the large enough weight of the tiles, you should give good layer special glue made for external cladding.

Brick wall decoration

The facade decoration of the house, made with facing bricks, makes the house look much larger. However, thickening the walls with artificial brick does not make the house warmer.

To give heat inside, it is necessary to follow some rules, for example, there should not be any air pockets and gaps, it is best in this case to make a vent facade, while insulating it with mines of cotton wool. In addition, for brickwork, it is necessary to strengthen and expand the foundation of the house, to make waterproofing.

Preparation for laying bricks

Preparation for laying bricks is simple: clean the surface from mold and mildew, seal up any cracks with mortar.
Mix the mortar thoroughly, the consistency should be the same as indicated on the package, the seam should be 10 to 14 mm thick. Apply the solution evenly.

Do not forget about ventilation holes during operation. Brick will need to be trimmed near windows and doors.

Strict outdoor masonry schedule

First, make a test laying - this will give you an idea of how much mortar is needed and look at the behavior of the brick. Once you've found your pace of work, don't change it.

Brick decoration does not tolerate downtime and local interruptions, this is not siding or porcelain stoneware. In this matter, brick is very similar to decorative plaster - there should also be no breaks in the application of the finishing layer lasting a day or two.

design project of facades.

I will demonstrate to you what a facade design project is private house using the example of this conditional (rather standard) cottage:

This is a pretty nice and inexpensive cottage with an area of about 200-250 sq.m. Let's say it was built 10-15 years ago, when there was not yet such a variety of materials for exterior decoration, and therefore looks rather boring and ascetic. Let's see what you can do with it ... (click on the link below)

To start work on the facade project i need to have the blueprints according to which the house was built. If for some reason you do not have such drawings, then I necessary take measurements houses;

Then a meeting is required to conclude an agreement and discuss wishes for the project of facades andfuture look of the house;

After that, according to drawings or measurements, I build a three-dimensional computer model, on the basis of which work will be carried out on design (project) of facades ;

Usually, in a project, one or two, maximum three design options are enough, but in this case, in order to demonstrate how you can decorate this house, I will show you 4 different options.

1. Classic style cottage.

Perhaps the most common style in private suburban architecture in our country. I distinguished the entrance group by adding a massive pillared balcony above the entrance, which completely transformed the entire main facade. The walls remained plastered, but I replaced the plinth facing: I used natural sandstone instead of the old artificial stone. In the decorative finishing of facades, light architectural elements made of expanded polystyrene, as well as products from architectural concrete, are used.

2. Cottage in Georgian (English) style.

No less popular style in suburban construction. The attached entrance group with a massive pediment and columns lends solemnity to the main facade. Old English mansions were usually brick, so I used clinker for the facade cladding, imitating old brickwork. Clinker is a beautiful, durable and practical material. Also in the decoration used light facade decorative elements.

3. Country style cottage (half-timbered).

The exterior decoration in this version uses techniques that imitate the medieval European style. The first floor was often stone, and the second was frame (half-timbered). The use of natural building materials in exterior decoration (wood, a natural stone) adds credibility to the design. Brackets and wooden railings are required attributes of this style.

4. Cottage in Portuguese style.

Distinctive features of this style are bright, saturated colors and covered terraces stretching along the entire facade (in our climate, the terrace can be replaced with a glazed veranda). In terms of the used facade decorative elements, this style is close to the “classic” one, but differs in greater originality and “lightness”, as well as the widespread use of wood products. An integral element of the style is natural ceramic tiles on the roof.

Thus, ordering design project of facades , you will receive a well-thought-out concept of facades with a complete study of all architectural details. In the project, I will select colors, materials, decorative elements for external finishing that will completely satisfy you, both architecturally and financially. All this is important to do before proceeding directly to construction works... I will be happy to help you with this!

Facade - the front or front side of any building. The shape, as well as the proportions and decorativeness of the facade depend on the architectural purpose, the main design features and stylistic solutions.

Facade - the front or front side of any building

The original and durable design of the appearance of the building directly depends on how correctly the finishing material will be chosen. When choosing, you need to pay attention to the following rules:

  • the coating must be resistant to aggressive external factors, represented by rain and gusts of wind, snow and frost;
  • the finish must be resistant to ultraviolet radiation and significant temperature extremes, as well as chemical influences and dynamic loads;
  • the cost of the finishing material should be affordable, but absolutely not at the expense of high performance.

Finishing materials for facade works (video)

It is important to remember that it is not difficult to decorate the facade yourself, however the purchased material must necessarily have:

  • moisture resistance;
  • frost resistance;
  • heat resistance;
  • incombustibility;
  • tear resistance;
  • strength;
  • durability;
  • ease of maintenance during operation;
  • availability for self-assembly;
  • the need to use auxiliary elements;
  • resistant to fading.

Materials for decorative finishing of the facade of a private house

There are numerous examples that allow you to choose the best option.
interior for exterior decoration. Regardless of the choice, facade cladding must be hygienic and resistant to external destructive influences.

Features of plaster finishing

Facade plastering is the most common finishing method, the main advantages of which are presented:

  • aesthetics due to color and texture diversity;
  • water resistance, which allows you to reliably protect walls from high humidity;
  • thermal insulation properties;
  • frost resistance;
  • resistance to temperature extremes;
  • ease of application.

In facade decoration, several types of plastering compounds are used. Mineral plasters are presented in an extensive color palette and affordable prices, and elastic acrylic compounds allow you to preserve the pristine appearance of the facade for several years. However, high-quality silicate and silicone plasters help to obtain the most durable and highly aesthetic coating.

Facade cladding with decorative stone

The decorative stone used as cladding for the facade of the building has many positive characteristics, including:

  • practicality;
  • low cost;
  • strength;
  • long period of operation;
  • attractive appearance;
  • color and textured variety;
  • relatively low weight;
  • the possibility of facing areas of any size and geometry,
  • ease of installation;
  • no need to properly prepare the surface.

Decorative stone allows you to create original and unusual stylistic solutions, and also goes well with almost any other types of finishing materials. For cladding, porcelain stoneware is used, as well as concrete stone and agglomerates. Such material can imitate brickwork, natural stone and slate structure.

The decorative stone used as cladding of the facade of the building has many positive characteristics.

The use of bricks in the design of the facade

Currently, when decorating the front of buildings several options for facing bricks are used:

  • trapezoidal, twisted, wedge-shaped and textured shaped bricks, made in accordance with the technology of glazing, torquetting and engobing;
  • clinker facing brick with high rates of water absorption and excellent frost resistance;
  • ceramic brick, varied in shape and color with high indicators of environmental friendliness;
  • silicate facing brick, characterized by regularity of shape and high strength indicators.

When choosing hollow facing bricks, it is necessary, first of all, to pay special attention to the wall thickness, which has a direct impact on the durability, as well as on the moisture absorption indicators, which are equal for clinker brick - less than 6%, for ceramic brick - 10-14%, for hand molding - above 25-30%, for hyper-pressed bricks - 6-9%, for silicate bricks - 12-14%.

The use of bricks in the design of the facade is an interesting solution.

Exterior decoration of the facade of the house with siding

As an external cladding of the facade of residential buildings and structures various types of siding panels are currently used:

  • vinyl panels based on the components represented by polyvinyl chloride, dyes, modifiers and stabilizers, they can imitate timber, lining, stone and other materials. The advantages are presented by resistance to fire, some chemicals, weather factors and temperature extremes, as well as an affordable price;
  • wooden panels on the basis of specially processed wood, they often imitate timber, and also have advantages represented by a wide range of wood species, environmental friendliness, attractive appearance, the possibility of self-installation;
  • painted and unpainted aluminum panels characterized by an ideal combination of durability and strength. Such a material is highly resistant to corrosion changes, increased strength and the ability to well simulate the appearance of almost any natural coating;
  • cement finishing panels are able to naturally convey the texture features of natural materials, which is due to the composition represented by cement and cellulose.

For the exterior cladding of private households, vinyl siding panels are most often used that imitate natural stone or facing brick, which is due to the ease of installation, visual appeal and the absence of the need to carry out complex maintenance during operation.

Facade wallpaper

Relatively new variant and a very interesting facade cladding, which has a large number of advantages, but is also not completely devoid of some disadvantages. Such an exterior finishing system has a two-component base in the form of a façade cloth and dispersion adhesive. The dense and elastic polypropylene-non-woven fabric has a pronounced relief, which allows it to withstand the shrinkage of the structure and reliably cover cracks.

The canvas is resistant to low-temperature conditions, is characterized by fire resistance and a wide range of colors. With self-assembly, the facade surface is cleaned, the cracks are sealed with a sealant and a special binder is applied. After the walls are covered with a primer, a thorough coating with glue and gluing of elastic wallpaper is carried out. At the final stage, corners and decorative elements are installed, and the canvas is painted.

Facade wallpaper is a relatively new option and very interesting, which has a large number of advantages

Facade tiles

When choosing facade tiles as a finishing material for outdoor use, you can pay attention to the following options:

  • elements with metal fasteners based on high-strength reinforced concrete are mounted on a wooden crate;
  • clinker facade elements imitate sandstone and limestone, as well as torn stone and others natural materials;
  • inexpensive facade tiles with a smooth surface, deep or light relief are especially popular with consumers. This material is a good imitation of polished and wild stone, as well as wooden boards of various colors.

To make not only an attractive, but also a functional finish, so-called “warm” facade tiles are used, which consist of two layers: an external decorative part based on reinforced concrete with polymer additives and an internal special heat-insulating part.

To create not only an attractive but also a functional finish, the so-called warm facade tiles are used.

Facade decor with porcelain stoneware

Modern porcelain stoneware is a special type of ceramics, which is endowed with increased strength indicators, which makes it possible to use such a material in facing surfaces that bear significant loads. The advantages include resistance to wear and tear, ease of maintenance and moisture resistance. For external cladding, large tiles with dimensions of 60 × 60 cm and a thickness of 0.7-1.4 cm are most often used.

Decorating the exterior walls of the house with wood

Wood is a respectable and elegant facade with a variety of decor and design solutions. For this purpose, you can use a block house, siding, shingles and wood paneling:

  • Block house is one of the most common facing materials, which has a flat inner part and an outer side that looks like a rounded log, which makes it possible to install facade thermal insulation under the finishing;
  • wood siding panels are molded products of various profiles and sections, and are also made using different types of wood, including pine and spruce, alder and aspen, oak and beech, as well as ash;
  • wooden shingle in addition to visual appeal, it has high strength, no deformation during vibrations temperature regime and humidity, excellent thermal insulation and sound insulation, as well as excellent antiseptic properties.

The last version of the finishing material is characterized by a very pleasant coloration in reddish-brown or amber-yellow tones. The very popular Canadian shingle has a delicate aroma that can last for a very long time.

Unusual solutions for finishing the facade of the house

IN last years the natural beauty of natural finishing materials is especially highly valued. Several methods are used to protect the wood finish of the facade surface:

  • application of azure coating, reliably protecting the wooden facade cladding from negative external atmospheric phenomena and other unfavorable external factors. Such a coating is not capable of disturbing the natural texture of the wood;
  • external processing with special compounds allows you to give a very diverse facade finish color shadesand also protects the used natural facing material within six years of operation.

No less popular is the coating of wood on the facade with a special colorless varnish composition. The use of high-quality varnish allows not only to reliably protect the wood, but also effectively emphasizes the texture of the natural material, as well as ennobles the appearance of the structure. Varnishes are very easy to apply to wood and remain on the surface for a long time.

How to beautifully arrange the corners of a private house with your own hands

For the processing of the outer corners of the building for exterior decoration, the same facing materials are often used as for cladding the wall surface. Change to such established rule you can only get a highly decorative effect if necessary.

As a rule, finishing of corners is done with facing bricks, decorative stone and plaster, polystyrene, tile and other materials. It's very important to rememberthat the work with the processing and decoration of corners is rather complicated and often involves the involvement of specialists or qualified craftsmen.

In recent years, special foam panels have been increasingly used for independent decorative finishing of the external corners of buildings, providing a very original and aesthetic effect. Foam panels can have both various colors and different types textures, including smooth or ribbed surfaces.

Attention, only TODAY!

The design of the facade of a private house is something that needs to be decided before starting the construction of the building. Many factors influence the decision on the style of outdoor decoration. This article will discuss the features of the choice facade design, its style, as well as materials for the correct decoration.

Features of facade design

Regardless of which building facade you need to decorate: a suburban brick house or a cottage within the city, a wooden country house or frame house with an attic - there is general featuresthat determine the choice of facade style to be considered.

Design defines:

  • the climate of the region;
  • building and cladding material;
  • form of construction;
  • stylistic directions of neighboring houses.

Climate influences the choice of materials for construction and facade cladding, which, like the shape, set the tone for the design.

As for the last point, it is your desire not to stand out from the general picture of the residential area, or, on the contrary, to stand out.

The area and number of storeys practically do not affect the design, the difference will be in the spent budget: it is clear that the construction of a one-story house will take less material and money than for a two-story house.

Materials (edit)

You need to approach work on the facade of your house not only from a creative side, but also from a practical one. The cladding material matters, and its choice should be based not only on the budget, but also on strength and environmental friendliness. The assortment is large, but we will consider the most popular cladding materials.

Brick is the most demanded and quite durable material. There is a range of colors on the market from light yellows and reds to dark brown shades. The facing from a combination of different colors looks very nice. Masonry takes place at the stage of wall construction.

When buying, you should rely on the following indicators:

  • Resistance to destruction up to 100 freezing and thawing cycles.
  • Withstanding loads up to 250 kg per 1 sq. cm.
  • Moisture absorption is not more than 13%.

Facade plaster - it can be mineral, silicone, acrylic, silicate. Diverse color solutions... Quite an acceptable price range. Corrosion-resistant if an antiseptic is added to the mixture. The plaster cladding option is especially good for buildings in the Mediterranean and Provence styles.

Siding is a relatively new facing material that has won over with its availability and a wide range of colors. Easy to install. There are wooden, basement and vinyl. Wooden is the most environmentally friendly and beautiful option, but not the cheapest, in this case they are replaced with ordinary wooden clapboard.

If you decide to make siding cladding, then choose light shadesas it fade quickly in the sun.

Stone or tile - natural materials, expensive but environmentally friendly. The tiles are made from shell rock, limestone, dolomite and sandstone. That is why the material has natural shades - gray, brown, yellow, light and dark options. The tile is frost-resistant and does not deform.

Natural stone is a durable but expensive option that is often replaced with artificial stone. Moreover, it is much easier to lay, and the color spectrum is wider.

But the design doesn't end with the cladding.

There are decorative elements to decorate the facade of the house:

  • rust;
  • cornice;
  • column;
  • arch;
  • socket;
  • panel;
  • platbands;
  • pattern.

These stucco elements are usually made of the following materials:

  • Gypsum - all castles and palaces are decorated with plaster stucco, but nowadays they try not to use this material. There are several reasons for this - high price, poor resistance weather conditions and a lot of weight.
  • Polymer concrete - thanks to attempts to improve the properties of gypsum, this material was produced. Its advantages are moisture resistance, low cost and significant ease of installation.

  • Expanded polystyrene- Styrofoam, easy to install, but the material is very fragile. Its service life does not exceed 8 years, but it is increased by coating with acrylic, then the operating time can last up to 15 years. Decor with expanded polystyrene is the cheapest way, but not the most reliable.
  • Polyurethane foam- more expensive than other materials, but lasts up to 30 years. Resistant to humidity and temperature differences. Does not crumble or crack. Polyurethane stucco molding should only be tinted once every ten years.

  • Glass composite- durable, lightweight and elastic. Corrosion-resistant material, not amenable to deformation, resistant to climatic conditions. Has a wide range of design solutions.

There are also such creative enthusiasts who know how to decorate the facade of a painted house even plastic bottles or a mosaic of colored glass. Painting is one of the cheapest methods, completely self-sufficient, not requiring additional decor in some stylistic directions.

You can find private houses, decorated with wood or wood paneling, concrete block buildings are often decorated with imitation of timber.

Color solutions

Any facing material has its own color. The most popular options for private houses are red, yellow, white, green, and others. But the choice of color for your home also determines the area in which it is located.

For houses located within the city, bright saturated colors are chosen.

The houses, surrounded by lush vegetation, located in the forest zone, are painted in warm pastel shadesto highlight the natural landscape.

Colors have different properties and can influence the psyche. Therefore, it is worth approaching the choice more competently so that own house did not become an annoying object. If you gravitate towards saturated bright colors, then add them with accent. Cornices painted in your favorite red or green, or the bright roof and doors of a white house.

Some practical adviceto listen to:

  1. If there is a financial opportunity, then visualize your home, this is possible thanks to a special program. To do this, contact a specialist.
  2. In the absence of extra funds, do not rush to buy material for the whole house. In the store, select a few of your favorite color options and try them out with emphasis on nature, so you will understand how the color will look in day and evening light. How will it fit on the texture of the facade.

Determining the styling

Consider the most popular stylistic architectural trends in the construction of private houses.

Modern style

It was born thanks to the combination of many - modern, hi-tech, country, classical, absorbing their best features.

The modern exterior features:

  • Straight geometry, clear, simple lines.
  • Ample building area.
  • Panoramic windows, maximum glazing of the facade to achieve natural light.
  • Restraint in decorative elements.
  • The use of eco-materials.
  • Combination of finishing materials.

A modern house harmoniously combines all these features. There are no clear rules in the use of materials for finishing the facade; you can combine several options at once.

Country

These include French Provence, Spanish hacienda, Russian and English country styles, and American ranches.

They have common features:

  • Decoration of both the exterior and interior of the house with only natural materials - wood, stone, ceramics, tiles.
  • Only pastel shades are used to paint the facade, white matte walls look beautiful. They are allowed to be painted in a contrasting color of decorative elements, but it still should not be bright.
  • The windows are small, sometimes there are shutters, window sills and frames.
  • Massive wooden doors.

Exterior country decoration can be in the manner of houses in English rustic style - wooden lathing of a white matte facade with wooden platbands, windows and doors.

In french provence the facade is faced with natural stone, the roof is covered with stone tiles, the windows are decorated with carved wooden trellises and flowers in pots.

More bright option - with a reference to the Latin direction. In this case, the walls are finished with multi-colored tiles, and the roof is covered with clay tiles. Windows with wooden shutters and frames.

All these options will be good for houses in the countryside, country and country cottages.

Baroque

Baroque architecture is a truly chic sight. Flowing shapes, pomp, opulence and luxury reflect this style.

Anyone will recognize the baroque, but we will still consider its features:

  • openwork stucco molding;
  • gilding;
  • complex shape of the facade;
  • thread;
  • columns.

The exterior of this house should be luxurious, reflecting the status and position of the owners. The facade is decorated not only with gilded figured stucco molding and carving, but also with columns and domes. Huge windows and balconies are decorated with curly cornices, patterns and stucco. The house has a large entrance hall with a wide staircase decorated with plaster statues. And the building itself must be very massive.

This is the style of palaces, and therefore it will not work for small cottages.

Romantic style

The progenitor of the romantic style was the French Gothic of the 12th century. And today these features are traced on the facades of buildings in this style.

Distinctive features:

  • forged decor elements;
  • stucco molding;
  • columns;
  • multilevel facade;
  • lancet towers;
  • french and arched windows;
  • rusty.

Such a house is tiled with natural stone tiles, but modern approach allows and artificial. The roof is covered with slate tiles. The windows and balconies are decorated with wrought iron bars, and the corners of the facade are decorated with rustic patterns.

Byzantine style

The style arose with the birth of the Byzantine Empire in 395. And it combines the best architectural techniques of the Roman Empire and Greece, with a considerable influence of oriental culture - a gravitation towards luxury and decoration. In Russia, this is a favorite and even native architectural direction, it is worth looking only at our churches and cathedrals. The Byzantine culture strongly influenced the Russian one.

Distinctive features:

  • Facing with brick or stone.
  • Column arcades with figured capitals.
  • Cross-domed facade.
  • Lined vertical narrow windows with rounded cornices.

A house in this style is faced with dark or light bricks, the structure itself has asymmetric shapes - straight lines at the bottom and a round dome on top. The wide driveway is decorated with mosaics. Facade painting is welcome.

The desire to make your home unusual and unique is, without a doubt, a trait of all people. If we do not talk about individuals with, frankly, unlimited financial opportunities, even the owners of small country houses want to make them stylish, pretentious. And to give your home the features of a fashionable design direction, to make it both recognizable and unusual, different from the neighbors is the dream of so many owners. Despite the seeming complexity of the task, literally everyone can create the design of the facade of their dreams.

A little about style

It can be argued for a long time that a particular facade design should have a precisely defined list of features in order to rightfully bear the title of "Provence" or "country". But in fact, this is just an invented, ad-hoc marketing husk that is adhered to by companies that make money from developing and selling an architectural project.
In fact, there is no exact assessment of the belonging of the finishing of the building to a specific style. Visually recognizable appearance that has completed project, can consist of:

  • clear, conspicuous features that are created in the decoration of the cottage;
  • the general range of colors in which the facade parts of the building are painted;
  • proportions and configuration of windows used in the project;
  • materials with which the front part of the cottage or country house is finished.

To make it clear how easy it is to create a visual style and implement a recognizable project, let's look at key featuresthat relate to one or another recognized canonical design of facades.

Modernity

Minimalism, loft, hi-tech and many other modern trends today are very often chosen to create the facade of a country cottage. This style with an abundance of glass surfaces, neat walls looks great on a small building. It is not recommended to use stone finishes. Buildings should look light and airy, so wood, siding, plaster, decorative and painted are used.

In a word, modern design styles provide great freedom and do not put forward any requirements for the design solutions of windows, doors, and there are no recognized recommendations for the combination of colors.

However, there are several characteristics that distinguish modern, open and minimalistic styles:

  1. Facade parts can be painted both with respect to the minimum difference between wall sections, building zones, windows and doors, and with the creation of sharp contrast.
  2. Strict straight lines are used.
  3. Restraint and openness are paramount. Rectangular shapes, large spaces of glass or walls without additional decoration and other features.
  4. Doors are as simple and laconic as possible.

It is worth noting that modern styles are often the easiest to implement, in addition, the designer can use the characteristic features of the design to manipulate the interior and exterior space, provide a good level of natural light, and solve other problems to create a comfortable home.

In conclusion, we suggest you watch the video below. It details the various facade technologies and decor materials.

Fachwerk - Germany and the Scandinavian countries

Very neat and stylish houses constantly flicker in advertising materials of products of alpine farmers, the landscape of Germany abounds with them, dwellings with such design are found in England, second in terms of distribution only to houses with classic english windows and stone trim.

The appearance of buildings and the design of facades depend on the construction technology that was common in past centuries, namely:

  • for a cottage or house, a power frame has always been created from powerful beams;
  • the space was filled with various auxiliary materials (it makes no sense to list, since in some regions it was even a mixture of various garbage with horse manure);
  • parts of the beams on the outside of the walls were left open.

The walls were painted or whitewashed, the beams were covered with dyes with waterproof characteristics. As a result, a recognizable style brand was formed, very neat.

With modern architectural design, in order to create such a design for the facade of a house, you can go in several ways:

  • clear slender lines of dark beams can be imitated, formed from plaster;
  • when creating ventilated facades or when using any secondary finish, the pattern can be created using overlays from a wide variety of materials;
  • during frame construction or building a house from SIP panels (Canadian technology), you can leave the beams partially open;
  • for stylistic recognition, it is easy to shape the design with a non-load bearing beam structure.

It should always be remembered that the open parts of the beams, regardless of the level of protection against the effects of the atmosphere and moisture, are destroyed. It is recommended to replace wooden structures every 17-20 years. There are no restrictions on the use of materials for finishing the facade in the half-timbered style. The main recognizable feature is precisely the recognition of the pattern - dark beams and light walls. The canonical version is black and white.

Country, or "rustic style"

A style that can even become abusive in design circles. This is a very, very broad area. Country with equal rights can be called a village house made of wood (Russia), trimmed with stone (England), overlapping wooden plates (America), with some restrictions - a rustic but elegant Provence (France), even houses covered with boardwalk (Finland).

Therefore, if you decide to create a facade design for a private house, cottage, country building, you should first of all follow a number of principles and requirements that the exterior of the structure must meet.

  1. Country music is inherent in some roughness and simplicity. Therefore - no arches, curved lines when designing a building. Straight lines only.
  2. The ideal window shape is rectangle or square. The ideal maximum for shape variability is the beveled top of the window unit.
  3. It is desirable that there are no huge open areas when glazing. In the design of the country style, frames with crossbars are necessarily used, this will enhance the impression of simplicity.
  4. Country-style country house doors - wood or its imitation, simple paneled construction, without curved elements.

For country-style decoration, it is best to use natural materials. The ideal stone, wood in various forms. However, those who cannot afford this luxury and prefer technology can use imitations.

There is another key style decision that makes homes uniquely country-style. The project should, firstly, provide for a uniform color finish on the first, second and other floors. Secondly, it is imperative to follow a single style. For example, if a stone was used to decorate the basement, the corners of the house are also decorated with such material.

For the rest, if you do not dwell on the peculiarities of the country style of different countries, you can recommend following the following rules when decorating a cottage or house building:

  • walls are painted in more bright hues, compared to frames;
  • decorating front and end walls should be different;
  • doors, window blocks, finishing elements (window sills, shutters, ebbs, spillways, pipes) - painted in one color.

Provence

A separate branch of the country style that has become distinctive and even has its own distinctive features. Provence is characterized by lightness and some romance, while maintaining the simplicity of the country.

This is achieved quite simply. It is enough for the project to become somewhat non-canonical, sweeping, deliberately careless, namely:

  • decoration and application of style elements on different floors (and even within the same floor, for example, a combination of frames with rectangular and rhombic glass) may be different;
  • light arches, semicircular elements of windows, roof lines are used;
    the colors of the facade design are warm, but deliberately minimally desaturated, as if bleached by time;
  • it is advisable not to create a contrast between the color scheme for decorating the roof, verandas, walls, except when it is tinting from diametrically opposite shades;
  • frames, doors, platbands, shutters should preferably be painted in extremely light colors.

Finishing in the Provence style is various textured plasters, paint, lining, stone is rarely used. The overall style of the facade should not have heavy and noticeable elements.

Monumentality of the English style

Houses made of stone are the most recognizable feature in English landscapes. To create a facade design for a private house in this style and implement the building project, significant financial investments will be required. However, the effort is worth it. The buildings look monumental, very aristocratic, expensive, and if you supplement the design of a country cottage or other building with plants and landscape design adjoining plot, you can get an extremely stylish object.

There are also noticeable currents inside the purely english style facades, namely:

  1. the so-called Tudor design would require the design to include huge, tall windows. Often they are made with an arched top to further emphasize the grandeur and height;
  2. victorian style is characterized by strict rectangular windows with a mesh of small sections of glass, as well as an emphasized asymmetry of the structure. Towers or high chimney or ventilation ducts lined with stone are used to emphasize the direction of the design.

The English style is characterized by high triangular roofs with several slopes; the Victorian direction allows for conical, as well as sections with curved lines.

The main facade finishing used by the project is natural stone, red brick, and tiles look great as a roof covering.

Byzantium

Byzantine-style buildings become visually recognizable if the project meets only two criteria:

  • the windows are deliberately narrow compared to the area of the walls in which they are located, perfect option - high openings, narrow window blocks with an arched top look great;
  • the entrance is made monumental, in the form of a separate block of the building, with massive doors, arches of increased width and height look good, compared to the dimensions of the entrance opening.

The Byzantine style is characterized by roofs with straight slopes and a low ridge rise.

Tower structures of buildings with conical roofs, as well as multi-level construction, can be used. However, the Victorian style, as mentioned above, is unmistakably identified by the external appearance of the walls with narrow windows and the monumental entrance to the building.
When finishing, various plasters are used, light colors are recommended. Roofing and wall decoration always form a contrast; there are no requirements for painting frames, doors, shutters and other decoration elements.

Romantic design

The romantic style of facade design simply does not have a definite homeland. He does not belong to any of the recognized architectural design trends. The main features of the building in the romantic style are:

  • calm design tones like facade surfaces walls and roof coverings;
  • no requirements for the symmetry of the structure;
  • an abundance of stucco decorations, forged elements in the design of the facade, carved shutters;
  • glazing is always carried out in frames where there are no large open areas of glass.

When decorating a house in the style of a romantic, a structure with in different forms windows of the first and second floors, an abundance of columns that go beyond the general outline lines of the structure of the portals, lattice railings of balconies and other elements that create a feeling of light disorder and negligence.

When creating a design in the romantic style, it is not recommended to use contrasting color combinations. Stone is rarely used for decoration, only in cases where it has muted colors, but even then it is better to surround only the corners of buildings with it. Light, unsaturated colors look attractive. For finishing, you can use plaster or wood without creating an emphasized structure of the coating.
