Fugen finishing putty. Technical characteristics and application of fugenfüller plaster

Joint putty Fugenfuller It is prepared on the basis of gypsum and in combination with a reinforcing tape is intended for sealing joints formed by gypsum plasterboards (gypsum plasterboards) with thinned edges, sealing cracks and other defects on them, for gluing gypsum plasterboards to a flat surface and combined panels, for sealing joints, cavities and irregularities of precast concrete elements, for gluing and filling plaster elements.

Surface preparation

Plasterboard sheets must be firmly mounted on a supporting frame or other base. The surface to be putty must be dry and free of dust.

Cooking Knauf Fugenfüller

Pour Fugen putty into a clean cold water, evenly spreading over the surface, until dry "islands" are formed, stand for 2-3 minutes and mix with a spatula until the consistency of sour cream. Use clean containers and tools.

Consumption rate

About 250 g of dry material is used to seal the joints per 1 m2 of mounted plasterboard sheets.

Operating procedure

The time from the moment of filling the Fugenfüller putty into the water until the start of setting is about 30 minutes. Dirty containers and tools will shorten this time. Work should be done when the room will not experience a significant change in temperature and humidity conditions, which excludes any linear changes in drywall sheets. Minimum temperature foundations and indoors during work - + 10 ° С.
Putty should be done with a putty knife, preferably with a handle adapted for screwing protruding screws. The sequence of actions when processing the seam: applying the first layer of putty, laying the joint tape on the putty layer by pressing with a spatula, applying a leveling layer of putty on the hardened and dry first layer. Places of installation of fasteners must also be putty. After drying, remove any unevenness with a grinding tool. At the end of work, wash containers and tools with water.

Storage of Knauf Fugenfüller

Store the bags in a dry place on wooden pallets. Use material in damaged bags first. Shelf life is 6 months.

The Stroyberg company is the official distributor of Knauf-Marketing Krasnogorsk LLC, therefore our price for Knauf Fugen füller is one of the best on the market.

When preparing drywall structures - arches, false ceilings, partitions to further finishing it is important to choose the right material for filling joints. Use putties for this purpose Knauf firm- Fugen and Uniflot.

Plaster mixes are not suitable for working with drywall. Particles of putty have a fine fraction, thanks to which the ready-made mixture completely fills all irregularities. After drying, a durable layer forms that prevents cracking of the seams.

Several years ago, Knauf slightly changed the name of the mixture, and now it sounds like this: universal gypsum putty Knauf Fugen Knauf Fugen. Therefore, you will not find a putty called Fugenfüller in stores. If you come across such packages, this is either a fake or a heavily expired mixture with an interrupted release date.

Technical characteristics of Knauf Fugen putty

The composition of the mixture remains the same, which means that the technical characteristics of the fugenfüller have not changed. The main advantages of the putty are that it does not crack or shrink. The environmentally friendly components included in the composition do not harm human health.

1. The permissible thickness of the applied layer is from 1 to 3 mm. Putty is applied to the seams of drywall in two times.

2. Consumption of Fugenfüller putty is as follows:

  • sealing drywall joints - 0.25 kg, it also takes into account the need to fill with a mixture of grooves from self-tapping screws;
  • continuous puttying of drywall - 0.8 kg per 1 m², with a layer thickness of no more than 1 mm;
  • puttying of plastered surfaces 0.8 - 1, 2 kg per 1 m², consumption depends on the degree of surface roughness;
  • installation of tongue-and-groove plates - 1.5 kg per m².

3. Fraction size - no more than 0.15 mm.

4. Compressive strength - 3.0 MPa.

5, Flexural strength - 1.5 MPa.

6. The exit of the solution from 1 kg of the mixture is 1.3 liters.

7. The pot life of the solution is 30 min.

8. Allowable temperature work and foundation - not lower than + 10 °.

9. Packaging 10 kg, 25 kg.

10. Shelf life 6 months in undamaged packaging.

The Fugenfüller (Fugen) price depends on the packaging and the amount of purchased material. The cost of packaging 25 kg in different regions from 350 to 400 rubles.

Moisture resistant gypsum putty Fugen Hydro

In addition to the usual Knauf Fugen, Fugen Hydro, gypsum moisture resistant putty, is produced, designed for working with gypsum fiber sheets.

  • In addition to conventional polymer additives, the mixture includes hydrophobic additives that provide increased moisture resistance of the material.
  • Produced in 25 kg bags, it has the same basic characteristics as Knauf Fugen.
  • The maximum permissible thickness of the applied layer is 5 mm.

The cost of a moisture resistant putty is almost twice as high as that of a conventional one.

Scope of putty Knauf Fugen (Fugenfüller)

The basis of the putty mixture is gypsum. Gypsum building mixtures absorb moisture well and are susceptible to washout when exposed to water. The properties of gypsum do not allow the use of fugen putty for outdoor use, it is used only indoors.

  • puttying drywall, including joints and corners;
  • installation of perforated reinforcing corners;
  • installation of tongue-and-groove plates;
  • gluing drywall sheets on a flat base;
  • sealing joints between concrete slabs ceiling slabs;
  • full puttying of a concrete surface or plaster layer;
  • sealing cracks in tongue-and-groove slabs, concrete foundations, gypsum boards.

Basic rules for working with plaster putty

In the proposed video, see the mistakes that are made when preparing the mixture.

  • the mixture is poured unevenly into the water, this leads to the formation of lumps;
  • it is more convenient to use a mixer for mixing;
  • the mixture turned out to be too liquid, it will flow down the spatula, in a thicker mixture it is easier to break lumps.

Frequently asked Questions

1. How to store opened packaging correctly?
The package should be wrapped in plastic wrap and store in a dry place for no more than 6 months. Do not use the mixture after the expiration date.

2. What to do if the storage conditions of the putty are violated and the expiration date has expired?
If the gypsum was exposed to moisture, then there was chemical reaction and it lost its properties. Do not mix the unusable putty with the fresh one - the old one will only serve as a filler, and the new mixture will be spoiled. You have the opportunity to throw away the unusable package at once or add to a good one, and then throw away two packages. It is unacceptable to use an unsuitable mixture for the installation of tongue-and-groove plates.

3. What if the finished mixture starts to set and you do not have time to work it out?
Prepare in advance the places that you plan to plaster. It can be dilapidated window or door slopes... Prime them. Fill in the pits and gouges with the putty until it has completely set. This work takes less time, the consumption of the mixture is greater than when puttying a smooth surface. What they did not manage to work out will have to be thrown away. Do not add water to prolong the visible pot life of the solution.

Everyone knows that overhaul apartments are a very laborious and costly process. During construction works a large number of problems can arise: lack of materials, incorrect selection of equipment, and much more. If you are going to decorate the walls using drywall sheets, then you need to think about buying a high-quality putty. The market leader in this category is Fugenfüller putty, which meets all international quality standards.

Most professional builders recommend this mixture as best material for sealing joints between plasterboard sheets. Fügenfüler putty has the best price-performance ratio compared to other putty materials. In this article, we will look at technological and performance properties this product and study the method of its use.

A few years ago Knauf company supplied for sale a dry mortar called Fugenfüller. Under this name, Russian buyers will remember high quality construction putty. Now the product has a new name - Knauf Fugen, it is used primarily for large-scale construction work inside residential and industrial premises.

Due to its unique composition, the material has a long service life and cannot be influenced by factors environment... The main component of the putty is gypsum, as well as additional binders chemical elements(provide increased plasticity).

This is a truly versatile building material, with its help you can repair microcracks in the wall and on the ceiling. If desired, you can eliminate irregularities or oversights of painting of various load-bearing structures... Not one major overhaul is complete without finishing, and the interior design of a country house is simply impossible to imagine without the use of Knauf Fugen putty.

Important! The manufacturing company changed the name of its product to Fugen (this is an analogue), so if you come across a product in a store with the name “Fügenfüler”, you should know that this is an expired copy (always check the expiration date before buying building materials).

Material composition and structure

If we consider the composition of this putty, then we can see that it practically does not differ from the exclusive products "Rotband" known all over the world. Knauf Fugenfüller's putty is manufactured using high quality gypsum and polymers. Polymer additives impart density and uniformity to the texture, and can also drastically change the technical characteristics of the product. It is also worth noting that the different scale of gypsum fractions affects the quality gypsum mix.

Today Knauf Fugen putty is presented in several modifications and pleases buyers not only with low prices, but also with a variety of shades: gray, white, pink, brown, black.

Description of Fugen putties

Fugen gypsum putty is a versatile material that is designed for interior decoration various premises(whether it be a residential apartment or an industrial facility under construction). Unfortunately, this product has one important drawback - the lack of water resistance and fast solidification, which limits the scope of its application (the mixture is not suitable for rooms with high humidity and for exterior decoration construction sites).

Universal gypsum putty Knauf Fugen is not water resistant due to the large amount of polymer additives that affect retention water masses and slow down the adhesion of moisture to the surface.

Knauf has developed two more modifications from this series:

  • Fugenfüller GW;
  • Fugen Hydro.

Knauf Fugen GV putty has won numerous awards and is recognized by customers. Western Europe and Russia. Experts and regular users note the high environmental friendliness and safety of the product, as well as excellent performance characteristics- as it is used, the gypsum putty (25 kg) does not crumble and retains its original appearance for a long time.

The second option, called Hydro, is moisture resistant. The material is intended for sealing drywall joints and installing gypsum moisture-resistant tongue-and-groove plates. Copes with its tasks perfectly, does not shrink, withstands high level humidity in the room.

V Lately the analogue of Rotband is especially popular - a fine-fraction putty for 25 kg. It is used to seal irregularities and chips (no more than five millimeters in size). One of the areas of use of this building material is also frameless installation in warehouse production facilities.

Where are the products used?

The areas of use of Fugen putty include:

  • elimination of seams and microcracks between concrete structures;
  • repairing cuts and chips in plasterboard sheets;
  • partial or complete filling of walls made of concrete, plasterboard and other materials;
  • transformation (grouting) of irregularities plasterboard structures, as well as hiding cracks on the surface of tongue-and-groove slabs;
  • connecting role in installation works(for example, installing reinforcing corners);
  • as adhesive solution putty is used to join several parts of plasterboard structures.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like any building material, putty has advantages and disadvantages. It is customary to refer to the advantages of this product:

  • the ability to carry out construction work with such a finicky material in operation as drywall;
  • obtaining the most durable seam, which ensures the durability of the construction and installation work;
  • low consumption of a putty solution and an affordable price;
  • environmental friendliness and safety for the health of people and pets;
  • the material is sold in bags of 25 kg - this amount is enough for finishing a large area.

Experts refer to the disadvantages of this product:

  • extremely fast drying process, which limits the use of the material in domestic conditions;
  • the impossibility of using with sharp bends of the structure (more than three millimeters);
  • long and difficult process of grinding the surface layer.

In the video: the purpose and characteristics of Fugenfüller putty.

Technical and operational properties

Before purchasing a putty, it is worthwhile to carefully study its technological and operational characteristics, the effectiveness of subsequent construction work directly depends on them. Distinctive features of the application:

  • Fine-grained structure of the material - the size of one fraction is approximately 0.15 mm.
  • The possibility of applying several layers, while their thickness should not exceed three millimeters (the minimum layer is one millimeter).
  • To seal microcracks between drywall, two layers are applied.
  • For one and a half liters ready mix one kilogram of dry matter is needed.
  • The use of dry matter for preparing a mixture is possible only at a positive air temperature (at least 10 degrees).
  • After 30 minutes after mixing the solution, you can start installation work.
  • The mixture is stored for six months (with proper maintenance).

The putty has one distinctive property - fast solidification on the surface. That is why, in the process of construction work, it is necessary to carefully monitor the consumption of dry matter; it is best to plan in advance how much is needed to finish a particular area.

As for the Fugen Knauf gypsum mixture, it should be borne in mind that it is applied only on a perfectly flat surface. Therefore, preliminary cleaning of the surface, priming (if necessary), leveling of walls and supporting structures are carried out. The smoother the surface, the less material will be consumed.

To level out roughness, only one layer is applied, and to hide cracks, at least two layers are required. Thus, the average consumption is one to two kilograms per 1 m2 of coverage.

It is best to dilute the dry mixture in a small container, while the thicker the structure of the putty, the more uniform the first layer will be. The instructions on the package will help you find out the exact proportions. To apply the putty, you will need several narrow spatulas ranging in size from fifteen to thirty centimeters.

Advice

Consumption and preparation of the mixture.

Excluding loss expense building mixture with a thickness of 1 mm per m2, it is approximately 0.8 kg for continuous filling, and for creating fillings in the joints between joints in gypsum plasterboards it is 0.25 kg.
Of the main technical characteristics indicated by the manufacturer Knauf, it is worth noting the Fugen dry mixture has a fine fraction of no more than 0.15 mm, and from one kg. Gypsum mixture is obtained 1.3 liters of ready-made mortar. Indicators for the strength of the hardened gypsum material are 5.2 MPa under compression, 2.7 MPa for bending.

V preparatory activities surface enters and is carried out in the following sequence:

Work with Fugenfüller putty is carried out on hard, non-deforming substrates, free from dirt and dust and having a dry surface. It is also important that the temperature of the base on which Fugen Knauf is applied does not fall below +10 C. Available on concrete foundations the remains of grease from the formwork are removed, as well as any other contamination is removed. Wet surfaces are dried.
Surface preparation for puttying is carried out in the following order. The surface itself should not be cold (at least + 10 degrees), the surface should be strong and dry. When working with joints on drywall, all existing contaminants (dust, dirt, etc.) are removed by the dry method.

Porous substrates that are highly absorbent must be treated with Knauf primers for highly absorbent surfaces. The primer is applied to the surface with a roller, brush or spray. Bases that have a dense solid surface ( monolithic concrete, concrete blocks) to ensure reliable adhesion, it is necessary to treat with a primer Betonokontakt-KNAUF. The primed surface must dry in accordance with the technical specifications. The surface treated with primers must be free from dust and dirt.

For high-quality application of Fugenfüller Knauf putty, so that various defects do not form, cracks, all work with Fugen mortar must be carried out in the same temperature conditions without sudden changes, and the most the best option carry out work at the same temperature and humidity conditions that will be during operation. This is primarily necessary so that when changes in moisture saturation and temperature occur, internal linear deformations do not occur.

If you plan to fill floors and other repair work and at this moment the temperature in the room does not correspond to the temperature that will be during operation, it is better to transfer the putty to the last stage of work.

Putty solution preparation technology

Knauf Fugenfüller dry mortar is added according to the principle of a mixture in water, and not vice versa. Into a container with a clean cold water Fügenfüller KNAUF plaster is poured until it is evenly distributed over the surface until small dry islands appear (2.5 kg are poured into 1.9 liters of water).

After that you need to wait from 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture gets wet, then stir manually or mechanically using a mixer, trowel or spatula until a homogeneous, creamy mass without lumps is obtained. It is no longer possible to add dry gypsum mixture to the prepared Fugenfüller mortar.

Mixing with other components is not allowed, this can change and worsen the properties of the putty. Also, water cannot be added to a solution that has thickened; from this, the original properties will be violated, which ultimately will affect the quality finished coating putties. Strongly thickened solution work time which has already expired (open time no more than 30 minutes) is not suitable for operation. Excessive contamination of dishes with mortar or tools can also lead to a reduction in the working time (hardening) with Fugen mortar.

Technology of working with mortar putty

GKL drywall joints must be putty (putty for ordinary seams) for this, the first layer of Fügenfüller KNAUF putty is applied to the surface of the gypsum plasterboard joints in order to apply a reinforcing tape, which is pressed against the knock surface with a spatula. (The formation of uneven bubbles and crease is not allowed ). The glued polypropylene reinforcing tape must be allowed to dry, after which the Fügen leveling coat must be reapplied.

As a working tool for puttying, it is better to use a spatula with a blade width of approximately 150 mm and a comfortable porous rubber grip. Convenient tool ensure to quickly remove the resulting defects formed during the installation of the gypsum board. Filling the surface with a continuous layer is also carried out in two stages. The first layer of Fugenfüller putty is applied using a wide-blade trowel, and the second leveling layer of Knauf Fugenfüller is applied after the first one has dried.

Correction of the second leveling layer after drying is carried out using a trowel construction tool (grinder with abrasive materials, graters). When preparing the bases for further high-quality staining, a layer of finishing putty is applied.

For further decorative works on Knauf Fugenfüller putty for wallpapering, painting with decorative plaster, the surface must be primed with Knauf Tiefengrund solution.

For quality and fast work With plaster putty Fügenfüller, you need to prepare the instrument:

putty container for mixing dry mixture with water;
a trowel or metal spatula for mixing the Fugenfüller;
metal spatula 152 mm wide;
wide metal spatula (approximate width 200x300mm);
metal spatula for working with external and internal corners;
for sanding dry putty, a float with a sanding mesh.
The tool for work must be made of stainless steel. After puttying, the tool must be cleaned of residues of Fugenfüller Knauf mortar.

Fugen gypsum putty is stored in dry rooms in standard packaging on wooden pallets. The packaging must not be damaged. In the event of mechanical damage to the packaging, it is necessary to pour the dry mixture into whole bags and then use it first.

The shelf life of Knauf gypsum mixture is 6 months.

Working with Fugenfüller

Putty "Fugenfüller" in combination with a reinforcing tape is used to seal the seams formed by gypsum board with crimped (beveled) edges of the HRAK type, seal on the surface plasterboard cladding cracks, gluing to a flat surface of brick and concrete walls GKL and combined panels (GKL with insulation), for sealing joints, cavities and unevenness of cement on concrete surfaces, for gluing and filling various building elements and parts made of gypsum.

This putty is characterized by high adhesion to concrete, brick, wood, can be used for filling cracks in walls, ceilings, floors.
Among the many gypsum putties from various manufacturers, Fugenfüller is distinguished primarily by its strength - if you break two connected gypsum plasterboards along the seam, sealed with this putty using a reinforcing tape, then the fracture line will go not along the putty seam, but along the gypsum cores of the slabs.
Therefore, "Fugenfüller" - the best solution when sealing seams and cracks in partitions, which may be subject to deformation and stress.

Second distinctive feature of this putty is its shrinkage, which minimizes the number of technological operations during puttying.

When filling seams between gypsum plasterboard with "Fugenfüller" putty in the so-called. "groove" formed by tightly joined gypsum boards with compacted (crimped) edges, the first (primer) layer is applied with a spatula over the entire width of the crimped edges (joints).

Then, immediately after the completion of this operation, a reinforcing tape is applied from top to bottom on the primer layer, before it starts to set, holding it with a spatula and simultaneously pressing it tightly into the primer along its entire width.
When laying the reinforcing tape, folds and bubbles must not be allowed to form on it.
After this operation, the putty mass is applied to the screw heads. If necessary, the heads of the screws are screwed into the gypsum board with a spatula-screwdriver.

Upon completion of the laying of the reinforcing tape into the seam to be treated and the hardening of the primer layer, a second (covering) layer is applied to the entire area of the "gutter", leveling the unevenness remaining in the "gutter".
To apply this layer, use a spatula 20-30 cm wide. Excess putty within the "chute" is removed with a wide spatula after lightly setting the putty. The edges of the covering layer should smoothly match the surfaces of adjacent docked gypsum boards.
The smoothness of this mating is controlled by a steel ruler, between which and the mating plane there should be no gaps. After the seam is dry, it should be treated with grout without damaging the plasterboard sheathing cardboard.

To avoid creating different textures on the surfaces of the putty and cardboard, do not use felt-covered grouting materials.
Then you should finally putty the heads of the screws flush with the surface of the plasterboard sheathing.

The tape for surface sealing of the putty placed in the joint cavity is made of special high-quality paper with perforation or transparent elastic self-adhesive plastic.
Recently, they began to produce fiberglass reinforcing tapes for hand putty. They are convenient because air bubbles do not form under them. Clean equipment and tools immediately after use with water.

Self-adhesive reinforced mesh tapes are highly crack-resistant and are glued by hand or using mechanized unwinding directly onto the surface to be treated.
This eliminates the need for a technological step for applying the first putty layer. The disadvantage of self-adhesive tapes is that they do not allow the putty to pass through the seams, leaving voids in them.

Mesh belts are extremely thin and are therefore particularly suitable for filling transverse seams.

Puttying should be performed when there is no significant change in the length of the gypsum boards as a result of changes in humidity or temperature.
If a seamless self-leveling floor is provided, then the putty should be done only after the floor has been laid. The temperature in the room and the temperature of the base must not be lower than +10 "C.

Package:
"Fugenfüller" is produced in bags weighing 25, 10 and 5 kg and must be stored in dry rooms on wooden pallets.
Shelf life is 6 months.
Putty material in damaged bags should be used first.

Consumption: 250-300 gna 1 m2.

Plastered walls

In this section I will talk about putty as a material, how to properly putty walls and prepare them for painting or wallpapering. I think you have already heard about finishing putty... Do not fill your head with all sorts of nonsense - they are all finishing. This material, by its nature, can be divided into two groups: putty - already prepared and putty - dry mixture. The putty is made on the basis of drying oil and does not differ fundamentally from each other - there are oil-glue, latex, etc. They are used, as a rule, for leveling the surface with painted enamel or oil paint. The thing is that a minimum layer of putty can be applied, unlike dry mixes, in which it starts from 1 millimeter. After drying, it leaves a smooth surface, but has a number of significant disadvantages - strong shrinkage, difficult to process and a small useful thickness of the applied layer (up to 2 millimeters at a time). Now about the putty. Today's market is littered with a variety of this material. Let me just say that you only need to know two brands: KR (normal) and VH (for wet rooms). The best manufacturer, in my opinion, is vetonit.

Tool for filling walls
This manufacturer has a couple of advantages: it is quite easy to process and if the material is not completely consumed during work, then it can be applied the next day (you need to pour water into a container with putty and drain it before use). In addition to all of the above, I can add that this material gives a small shrinkage, the applied layer is up to 4-5 millimeters at a time and is completely universal in application. Method of preparation: pour about a quarter of water into a container, pour out the contents of the bag and mix thoroughly with a construction mixer. Stir again after 3-5 minutes. Do not make the solution too liquid - it will constantly fall off your tool, at the same time, it will be quite difficult to apply a thick solution on the wall in an even layer. The material is applied with spatulas, and processed with sandpaper. Now about what purpose and how the walls are putty.

Puttying the walls under the wallpaper

Puttying the walls under the wallpaper
Here the main task is to align the walls in such a way that wallpapering would cause a minimum of difficulties. Work should be done with putty (dry mixes). After preparing the solution, we begin to apply it to the plastered and primed wall with spatulas in an even layer of about 2 millimeters. It looks like this: on a large spatula (60-80 centimeters) we apply a small amount of small putty (10-15 centimeters). Then we smear the contents on the wall holding the tool in relation to the surface at an angle of about 20-30 degrees and align. Ideal option there will be movement along the diagonal, so the plane is simultaneously aligned horizontally and vertically. This event should start from the left edge of the wall and, applying a layer next door, pull it towards the already freshly smeared, so to speak, overlap. In this way, we can avoid "transitions" and the formation of bumps. Do not try to make the surface smooth with the first layer - even mega-professionals cannot avoid stripes from the spatula. For filling corners, both internal and external, you can use a corner trowel. He will help you quickly and without special efforts make an even corner (Strictly 90 degrees). To do this, first apply the putty to the edges of the walls, and then smooth it with the above-described spatula. Do not forget that the thickness of the applied layer at one time should not exceed 5 millimeters, otherwise the putty may not dry out or crack. After application, the layer should stand for about 12 hours. After this time, we sand the wall with sandpaper with a grain size from P80 to p120. It is advisable to use a special holder to avoid the formation of holes and dips. After that, we prime and apply the following layers. This time, you don't need to build up the layer, but just bring the old one to mind. After finishing the work, the walls are primed and they are ready for wallpapering.

Puttying walls for painting

Filling walls for painting
The main task of the wall putty for painting is to make the surface as smooth as possible. If painting water-based paints will help to hide some defects, then the enamel will not be neglected in this matter. All the flaws will come out and stand out will not be very pleasing to the eye. Therefore, preparation for painting should be approached with increased attention and if you need to apply a decent number of layers to achieve this goal, then you should not be lazy. The algorithm for applying the putty is the same as in the preparation for wallpaper. A small difference is only in the instrument: maximum value I advise you to reduce the spatula to 60 centimeters, and use sandpaper no higher than P120 (ideally P150). Sand should be "under a light bulb", i.e. with a light bulb raised directly to the wall. Thus, all visible defects coatings, but if you missed something, then this can always be corrected after applying the first coat of paint. There is another scenario for the development of events - when you only need to restore the painted surface. In this case, you can apply a partial putty, i.e. hide point flaws. We remove chipped and swollen paint, and embroider cracks in the wall with a spatula. After priming, the defects must be putty, and deep cracks must first be plastered and glued with a serpyanka to avoid developing after a short period of time. After sanding, the surface is ready for painting.

How to make an even corner with putty

In order to make an even corner with the putty, you do not need a lot of skill in using tools. As a rule, a beginner, when puttingtying walls, tries to sculpt this most famous corner with material, which, we note, is not so easy to do. It takes a lot of time and nerves, and you have to wait a long time for the long-awaited result, since 3-4 approaches to the angle are not the limit and before each such event you have to wait until old layer dry. It is very frustrating, agree.

To solve this problem, modern builders use plastering (or painting) corner profile which is glued to the corner plastering compounds before the first coat of putty is applied. The option is interesting and practical, but hardly applicable where it is required to putty the wall for painting, because it is necessary to make an even corner with the material itself. And here is his advice from me: just leave more putty in this place. Dried material can be easily sanded with sandpaper on the block, which will be the key to a really even angle.

Use and storage.

Consumption of materials:
Consumption of materials is indicated per 1 m2 of surface, excluding losses:
when sealing gypsum board joints ≈ 0.25 kg;
with continuous filling with a layer thickness of 1 mm ≈ 0.8 kg;
when installing tongue-and-groove plates ≈ 1.5 kg.

Operating procedure:

Working conditions
The temperature in the room during work must be at least + 10 ° С. The filling of the gypsum board joints should be carried out under the operating temperature and humidity regime, after the completion of all work related to its change, which excludes linear deformations of gypsum plasterboard sheets. For example, if the room provides for a self-leveling floor or leveling screed, then the filling should be carried out after laying the floor.

Filling the joints of the gypsum board
The sequence of operations when forming a seam of normal quality:
- application of the first layer of putty;
- laying the reinforcing tape on the putty layer by pressing with a spatula, while preventing the formation of folds and bubbles;
- application of a leveling layer of putty on the hardened first layer.
Puttying should be carried out using a spatula ≈ 150 mm wide, preferably with a handle adapted for screwing protruding screws, which makes it possible to quickly eliminate possible defects installation.

Continuous filling
For continuous filling of flat concrete and plastered surfaces, apply the first layer of the filler mortar and level it with a wide trowel. Apply a thinner leveling layer of putty on the hardened surface of the first layer.

Final operations
After the filler has hardened, remove any unevenness with a sanding tool (floats with a sanding sieve). For high-quality painting, apply a layer of finishing putty... Before applying decorative coating(paint, wallpaper, decorative plaster) treat the filled surface with a primer.

Storage:
Sacks and bags with dry mix KNAUF "Fugenfüller" should be stored in dry rooms on wooden pallets. Pour the material from the damaged bags into the whole and use it first. Shelf life in undamaged packaging is 6 months.

Specifications

Fugenfüller putty is intended for:
- sealing joints of gypsum plasterboard sheets (GKL) with a thinned edge, using a reinforcing tape;
- gluing plasterboard sheets and combined panels to a flat surface;
- thin layer puttying of flat concrete and plastered surfaces;
- filling the joints of precast concrete elements;
- sealing cracks and other possible damage to the gypsum board;
- gluing and filling plaster elements;
- installation of partitions made of gypsum tongue-and-groove plates.

Surface preparation:
The substrate must be dry and sound with a temperature of at least + 10 ° C. Clean the surface from dirt, dust and detachments, rinse if necessary, remove formwork grease residues from the concrete. The joints of gypsum plasterboard sheets and their surfaces intended for filling, if necessary, should be cleaned of dust without moistening. Surfaces that are highly absorbent are primed with a brush, roller or spray with a primer. Concrete and smooth surfaces with low moisture absorption capacity should be primed to improve adhesion. Dust should not be allowed on primed surfaces.

Preparation of the putty solution:
Pour dry putty mixture into a container with clean, cold water, spreading evenly over the surface, until dry "islands" appear (max. 2.5 kg per 1.9 l of water). Leave for 2-3 minutes to moisten the poured material and mix with a spatula-trowel until a homogeneous creamy consistency is obtained, without adding more dry mixture. The addition of other materials is not allowed, as this leads to a significant deterioration of its properties!
Do not use a thickened putty solution, adding water and stirring does not ensure the restoration of its working properties.
Contaminated containers and tools shorten material use time.
The duration of the preservation of the working properties of the filler mixture before the start of thickening is at least 30 minutes.

Knauf is an international company based on best principles family business and managed to preserve these values, despite global scale their activities. Today the international KNAUF group is one of the largest manufacturers of building materials in the world.

In 1993, KNAUF's investment activities in Russia began, then enterprises were acquired and created in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Marketing activities have spread to almost all CIS countries and Mongolia.

Our enterprises in the CIS countries are equipped with modern equipment, use the same production technology for the entire international KNAUF group and, as a result, produce Construction Materials highest quality, while quality standards are uniform for both Knauf enterprises in Germany and the CIS countries.

Knauf is a successful company. We have earned this success with our work, responsibility, and innovative approach. We continue our development and are ready for new achievements.

For many, one of the most difficult and unpleasant moments is apartment renovation. Especially if you conduct it yourself, you have to learn a lot and face some difficulties. Those who, during the renovation work, started processing the walls, are interested in the subtleties of their decoration. Putty is used as a finishing material for walls and ceilings. It helps to smooth the walls and prepare them for painting. Among the many brands, Fugenfüller putty is in great demand among customers due to its high quality.

By purchasing this finishing material, many people make a choice in favor of a combination of decent quality and price. Before using, please familiarize yourself with the technical specifications of this product. Due to the presence of gypsum in the composition, which is not resistant to moisture, the putty received only an internal field of application. Additional substances in the composition allow you to retain moisture and slow down the setting process.

Fugenfüller putty is completely safe for humans and animals, which is confirmed by the manufacturer's certificates. Subject to the application technology, the material does not crack and does not shrink. In the case of joining perfectly flat surfaces, it allows you to close the seams between them.

Fugen Knauf putty is used for:

The putty of this brand has its advantages:

Among the most significant disadvantages of the product are:

  • Fast drying. With some experience, this disadvantage can be attributed to advantages.
  • Difficulty in carrying out grinding work. This process will require some effort on the part of the worker.
  • The maximum thickness of the applied layer, which cannot exceed 3 mm.
  • Possibility of the appearance of dark gaps when gluing light and thin wallpaper.

In order to get a high-quality result, it is necessary to study the features of the Knauf Fugen remedy. Gypsum putty, the technical characteristics of which are given below, has the following properties:

The material has adhesion to the surface from 0.5 MPa, bending strength - 1.5 MPa and compressive strength - 3 MPa. For calculation the required amount material, you need to know the approximate consumption of the substance on different surfaces:

  • For sealing the seams between sheets of drywall, it can take about 0.25 kg per square meter.
  • When filling with a continuous layer of 1 square meter, it will take about 1 kg, when applying a layer up to 1 mm.
  • When fastening tongue-and-groove plates, up to 1.5 kg of material may be required.

The substance can be purchased in paper bags, packaged in 5, 10 or 25 kilograms. To avoid the harmful effects of moisture, it is recommended to store products on racks..

Depending on the place of application of the material, you should choose suitable type putties. The manufacturer offers a putty for gypsum fiber sheets- Knauf Fugen G.V. and material for work in places with high humidity - Fugen Hydro.

The first option is intended for sealing seams and minor irregularities. In terms of its composition, this mixture has almost the same composition with a universal remedy. The differences lie in the permissible thickness of the applied layer and the consumption of the prepared substance.

To cover seams and joints, it takes up to 600 grams of the mixture. With a continuous application of raw materials with a thickness of 1 millimeter, it will take up to 1.2 kilograms. The rest of the material has similar characteristics with the universal mixture.

The second material contains special additives that make it possible to use it:

  • For the purpose of gluing moisture-resistant drywall to a flat surface, as well as filling and gluing gypsum raw materials.
  • For filling joints between drywall sheets in damp rooms.
  • As an element for filling cracks or recesses in concrete floors.
  • For filling and installation of tongue-and-groove moisture-resistant slabs.

The rest of the characteristics are no different from the universal composition of the fugenfüller putty. Maximum thickness the applied layer should not exceed 5 mm. A moisture-resistant analogue will cost twice as much as universal products.

Rules for working with the material

To obtain high-quality results of work, it is necessary to follow some of the recommendations of specialists:

  • It is recommended to putty at a room temperature of at least + 10 ° C and a humidity of no more than 80%.
  • Before applying the raw material, it is necessary to carry out preliminary cleaning and priming of the surface. Putty can only be applied on a dry surface.
  • It is necessary to prepare the solution only in a clean container. If foreign matter gets in, rinse the instruments and remove foreign matter from the composition.
  • During the preparation of the solution, it is not recommended to take more than 1 kg of the substance. With a lack of experience, you may not have time to use up the entire mixture, which cannot be reused.
  • To prepare the solution, take only clean water and pour the purchased composition into it. Stir begins after all the powder is wet. After the first mixing, wait for a while and mix a second time. To avoid the formation of lumps and to facilitate the mixing process, you can use a construction mixer. The finished solution should have the consistency of thick sour cream.
  • To exclude rapid hardening and the formation of a large number of lumps, a new portion of the solution is kneaded in a previously washed container. The tool should also be washed after finishing the application of the mixture.
  • To work with joints, use a serpyanka mesh or a special paper tape. They increase the strength of the seams, but still do not guarantee the absence of cracking.
  • When sealing joints and seams, the second layer is applied only after the first layer has completely dried.

The remnants of the finished material after work must be disposed of. When adding residues to a new formulation, a large number of lumps can be obtained. They should not be flushed down the drain due to the potential for persistent blockages. Leftover dry material should be stored in a tightly closed plastic bag. It is not recommended to use raw materials after the expiration date.

Choosing a quality manufacturer finishing materials allows you to avoid frequent renovation of premises. Many professionals prefer finishing raw materials, including putty, Fugenfüller Knauf, which has long been successfully used in the repair indoor spaces. These materials have long established themselves as high quality and durable.
