How to plant garden strawberries. Ruddy beauty from the garden - strawberries. How and when to plant a berry? Seedling from seeds

Antonina Sergeevna is interested in: “When is the strawberry planted, and how to do it right?”

Not everyone knows when to plant strawberries. But it needs to be done.

It is known that it is better to seat with a mustache. Reproduction is fast: if there was one bush in the spring, a flower bed will appear in the fall. Inexperienced summer residents will think that the more bushes, the better. In practice, it turns out differently. From the overgrown ridge you will get a little harvest. And putting the plantation in order will increase the chances of success. Therefore, strawberries need to be seated. Let's see how the process goes.

How to take care of the ridge

It is necessary to properly care for the garden. The main thing is not to allow the plantation to overgrow. Take a pruner and a hoe and put the garden in order. What should a well-groomed ridge look like?

  1. It is correct when the distance between the beds is equal and coincides with the width of the beds. So the mustache will not spread to neighboring ridges. You will be able to move freely around the garden. Each bush will receive the optimal amount of sunlight.
  2. Whiskers must be removed on plants that are supposed to be planted. In the spring, it is better to pluck flowers.

When to plant

Seating is done in the summer. It is better to conduct it from July 15th. In the south, work can be carried out until the 20th, in middle lane- later. Strawberries are recommended to be transplanted at sunset. Then the young bushes will not suffer from the hot sun.

Proper work

Strawberries of any variety can be planted in a universal way. Preparation should be done in the spring.

  • Choose bushes that have produced well in the past year.
  • Remove flowers.
  • Plants will not give strawberries, but you will become the owner of a luxurious mustache with rosettes. The mother plant will give 30 new bushes.
  • In the summer, until July, no intervention is required. Strawberries should only be watered.
  • Then you have to prepare the site. Loosen the soil, fertilize, mark up.

When the time comes for seating, dig holes with a diameter of 15 centimeters, the depth should be appropriate. The distance between the bushes should be 40 centimeters.

  • Next, cut the "umbilical cord" of the sockets. You can use garden shears. If you're not sure you're doing it right, check out the trimming video.
  • Carefully dig up young plants, their roots are fragile.
  • It is better to transfer bushes with part of the soil to a new bed.
  • Place the plants in the holes, sprinkle with soil on top, water.
  • Watering strawberries should be done often, but it should be moderate - 2 times a day is enough.
  • Loosening can be done once every 14 days.

There will be no good harvest in autumn. But on next year you can expect excellent fruiting. Seedling is carried out to increase the plantation and for rejuvenation.

When the plant is more than three years old, it is not necessary to wait for large berries in the fall. "Mature bushes" should be removed, dried, burned. Ash will go to fertilizer. The nutrients contained in it can be used to feed young plants.

Process Features

You can transplant every 2 years. This is required to get "babies" from the best bushes.

Important! The plant is loved by larvae Maybug, wireworms, how they look can be seen in the video or photo. Before planting, it is recommended to shed the bed with ammonia water. An alkaloid lupine should be planted next to the ridges. Insects will eat it and die.

You can use sockets from the most productive and from the most large bushes. From the bush you can get up to 30 outlets, what the plant looks like with them, the video will tell.

Important! At the same time, a plant cannot have excellent mustaches and berries.

When watering outlets, they should be covered with paper. Loosening the beds is carried out in August. This will provide access to the roots of oxygen, reduce the evaporation of moisture from the soil. The vertical channels that appear in the ground during the evaporation of water will be destroyed.

How to cut strawberries correctly (video)

In order to get a huge harvest of berries in the fall, strawberry bushes should be planted. If you are not sure that you can do everything right, check out a special video that tells about the transplant rules. However, the rules presented should be enough to carry out the work without errors.

I live in the Volgograd region. I know from my own experience that replanting strawberries in the summer, in July, as advised in the article, is useless in our zone: the seedlings burn out in the sun. Strawberries take root better in me, which I transplant in May, when the leaves are already well developed, and the buds have not yet come out. The transplanted bushes take root well, grow, bloom and even produce a crop. True, not big. A good harvest will be only next year. Therefore, I always have 2 plots with strawberries: one, as it were, is already “old”, and the other is young, seated. Every 3 years I clean the “old” plot, as it overgrows and gives few berries.

Many of my friends believe that strawberries are best planted with antennae, that is, we tear off the antennae, wet the garden bed and gently press the antennae into the ground with our finger. I tried, a lot of bushes were gone. I started planting in October, but not tendrils, but already formed bushes. What did not take root in the fall and disappeared in the winter, I plant a bush in that place in the spring.

Svetlana 18.03.2016

And I plant strawberries only in the spring. I don’t plant for the winter, because you don’t know what kind of winter it will be, and whether the transplanted bush will take root. I agree with the previous comment that the antennae do not always take root, but it also depends on the variety. There are varieties in which the antennae take root, but there is that you only need to plant bushes.

thank you very much!11

  • correct sowing time. Seeds begin to be sown in the last decade of February or in early March;
  • mixed soil. The land needs to be fertile and light (the same as for the beds), with the addition of perlite or vermiculite (baking soil);
  • stratification."Hardening" at a temperature of +2+4°C. Keeping them constantly wet, stirring every 10-14 days, dry a little on the eve of sowing;
  • treatment with biostimulants. Seeds soaked in them for 30-40 minutes before planting germinate faster;
  • pre-germination of seeds. This process will help control germination and cull weak, poorly developing plants;
  • sufficient lighting. To do this, use an energy-saving lamp located at a distance of 20-25 cm above the surface of the container in which the seeds are planted;
  • regular watering. The soil should not dry out, strawberries need moisture.

The germination process can last from two weeks to one and a half months, it all depends on the variety. After germination, provide sprouts temperature regime not lower than + 23-25 ° С, daylight hours at least 12-15 hours and regular spraying from a spray bottle. To avoid condensation, lift the coverslip daily and ventilate the seedlings. After setting the bush in the hole, sprinkle it, gradually adding water. Landing in spring in open ground is possible during the period of the night temperature indicator of at least + 6-8 ° С.

When to plant strawberries in the fall?

Autumn, many consider the time of year when it is better to plant strawberries, because with the onset of summer, the bushes will give good harvest. How to plant strawberries in the fall, at what time depends on the development cycle of a particular variety and the climatic conditions of the area. Autumn planting of strawberries, depending on the ripening time, is divided into three periods, of which the first two are considered preferable:

  • early autumn, from August 15 to September 15;
  • mid-autumn, from mid-September to mid-October;
  • late autumn, seedlings are planted 20-30 days before the onset of the first frost.

Strawberries grown under covering material do not suffer from weeds and slugs, it is easier to care for and harvest the beds. The soil is prepared in advance, loosened, fertilized. When planting seedlings under agrofibre, we arrange them in rows, for each bush making a hole 6x6 cm in size, 25 cm apart, bend the formed corners inward. After planting, water each bush.

Strawberries are one of the most popular berry crops. It can be propagated using mustaches and seedlings grown from seeds. The plant grows on any soil, but the taste and size of the berries depend on its composition, nutritional value, structure. Strawberries are planted in open ground in spring, late summer and early autumn. So that she quickly takes root, pleases abundant flowering and a good harvest, you should know simple planting techniques and stick to simple rules care.

Where is the best place to plant strawberries?

For strawberries, sunny, flat areas are selected, protected from strong drafts. Strawberries love an abundance of light, fertile soil, cleared of malicious weeds (sow thistle, wheatgrass, sleepweed, and others). ground water should lie no closer than 1 m to the surface. Strawberries should not be planted in the lowlands, where cold accumulates in the morning. Steep slopes are not suitable for planting, as snow blows off them in winter and plants can freeze out, and in spring melt waters the soil is washed off, and the roots of the berry are exposed. Strawberries feel comfortable and give good yields on slightly acidic soils (pH 5.8–6.2). Preference is given to light loams and soils with a high content of sand.

The best places for planting strawberries are well-lit areas with a flat surface, protected from strong winds.

Soil preparation

First, the selected area is cleared of debris: branches, leaves, stones. Then all weeds are removed. This can be done in different ways:

Be sure to destroy pests: insect larvae, spores of various fungi. To do this, the ground is sprayed with ammonia water or the Roundup preparation, which is a universal means of controlling weeds and pests. A working solution is prepared as follows: 100 g of a high concentration preparation is mixed in 10 liters of water. This amount of solution can process up to 2 acres of land.

Fertilization

The cleaned soil must be fertilized before loosening. You can use various organic and mineral fertilizers:

  • wood ash and dolomite flour at the rate of 1 tbsp. per 1 m 2. They contain many nutrients, especially potassium;
  • compost soil or humus at the rate of 8–10 kg / m 2. Manure can be replaced with a mixture of peat and organic matter. Peat composts with mullein, slurry, a solution of chicken manure are a more valuable fertilizer than humus. Application rates - 10 kg / m 2;
  • phosphorus (10–20 g per 1 m 2) and potash (15 g per 1 m 2) fertilizers.

A plantation for planting strawberries is dug up in advance. In summer and autumn, bushes are planted in the prepared soil in a month. Before this, green manure is sown, which will have time to grow by 10–15 cm. The mass is mowed, and then plowed or closed up when digging into the ground. If planting is planned in the spring, then the soil should be prepared in early September.

If planting strawberries is planned in the spring, then preparatory work should start in autumn

Selection and preparation of planting material

The right choice of strawberry variety is one of the main factors for a bountiful harvest. Today there is a great demand for remontant varieties that bloom throughout the growing season: from early spring to late autumn. 2-3 crops per year are harvested from one bush. In the market, eyes run wide from the abundance of strawberry seedlings, but you need to pay attention to the following nuances:

If the bush has bloomed, then you need to look at the size of the flower. Big size inflorescence speaks of large berry. Seedlings with small flowers or no buds should not be planted, as they will not produce a crop.

On the new site, experienced summer residents advise planting from 3 to 5 different varieties strawberries. They will give cross-pollination, which helps to increase yields.

From my own practice, I recommend purchasing seedlings of elite varieties of the first reproduction. Before planting, I soak the roots of the bushes in clean water with the addition of a growth stimulant and a few crystals of copper sulfate for half an hour. This technique contributes to the rapid rooting of seedlings, which has a beneficial effect on the growth of the ground part of the strawberry.

Technology for planting strawberries in open ground in summer

The optimal dates for planting berries are the last ten days of July and the first days of August. By this time, the seedlings will develop a good root system which will affect next year's harvest. Bushes need to be transplanted from big ball nutrient land. Most often, they try to plant 1-3 remontant varieties and the same number of ordinary ones. This combination allows you to harvest from late June to late autumn.

Plant strawberries on a warm cloudy day in the evening so that the plants take root better.

Instruction summer planting strawberry bushes in open ground:

Mustaches begin to grow after the ripening of the berries. After harvesting, they are thinned out, leaving the highest quality ones for reproduction, on which a strong rosette has formed. It is cut off and transplanted to a new place.

In order for strawberries to develop quickly and give a good harvest, they need to be fed regularly:

  • for the first time - immediately after the snow melts and warm weather sets in;
  • in the second - during the ripening of berries;
  • in the third - after the end of fruiting.

Spring top dressing is combined with leaf trimming. To stimulate a better ovary, a solution of nitroammophoska is used (1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water). From organic matter, mullein is most often used and chicken manure. 0.5 liters of nutrient solution is poured under each bush. In the second top dressing before harvesting, fertilizers containing potassium (wood ash, potassium nitrate) are used.

As soon as the first berries begin to appear, 0.5 liters of liquid solution are added under the bush - 2 tbsp. Pour boiling water over the ashes, leave for 2-3 hours and dilute with 10 liters of warm water

The addition is spraying the bushes with a solution with a high content of trace elements. For these purposes, use 2 g boric acid diluted in 10 liters of water. The third top dressing is needed for strawberries because during the growing season it was depleted. The situation will be corrected by a solution of 2 tbsp. l. nitroammophoski or 1 tbsp. ash per 10 liters of water.

How to plant strawberries in spring and autumn

Spring planting in late April - early May, according to many experienced summer residents, not the best time for growing strawberries. Bushes take root worse, often get sick, because they react poorly to sunny weather. Before planting, the soil is moistened, but it should not be wet. The soil must be fertilized with organic and mineral fertilizers. The rest of the landing technology is similar to the summer one.

Advantages autumn planting strawberries:

  • a large selection of planting material on their own sites;
  • cool weather, conducive to the rapid rooting of bushes;
  • a bountiful harvest next year.

In autumn, strawberry planting can be carried out until the end of Indian summer. Renew strawberry plantings should be every 3-4 years and this is best done in September.

Planting strawberries for seedlings

Most experienced gardeners growing seedlings of strawberries from seeds. This requires patience and knowledge, as well as creating the necessary conditions.

Seeds for growing seedlings

Many seeds of various varieties and hybrids of strawberries are sold on the market and in specialized stores.

Huge tasty berries are painted on colorful packages, promises of early maturity and resistance to any diseases are given. It is difficult for an inexperienced gardener to make right choice. It is better to study strawberry varieties and look for the name you like.

In specialized stores, a huge number of seeds of varieties and hybrids of garden strawberries are put up for sale.

In Russia, remontant varieties are popular, giving 2-3 crops per season:

  • Queen Elizabeth,
  • Albion,
  • yellow wonder,
  • Crimean early,
  • Ali Baba and others.

To obtain early (ripen in mid - late June) large-fruited dessert berries, varieties are recommended:

  • xina,
  • Honey,
  • Kama,
  • Wim Zanta,
  • fireworks,
  • Lambada,
  • Seascape and others.

Mid-early strawberry varieties (harvest in the second half of June):

  • marmalade,
  • Kokinskaya,
  • Webenal,
  • Clery,
  • humi grande,
  • Ruby Pendant,
  • Dawn.
  • arosa,
  • Albion,
  • Borovikovskaya,
  • Wima Tarda,
  • Darselect,
  • Chamora Turusi,
  • Symphony,
  • Cinderella of Kuban.

If you want strawberries to retain their maternal traits, new variety should be cultivated at some distance from other plantings. Then she pollinates only with herself.

Strawberry seeds are easy to prepare if you follow simple rules:

How to prepare strawberry seeds for planting

Before planting, the seed material is subjected to soaking and stratification. Seeds are soaked on cotton pads, which are placed in a saucer and moistened with warm water. Any growth stimulator is added to it:

  • healthy garden,
  • Appin,
  • HB-101,
  • Zircon.

For simplified stratification, the seeds are laid out on moistened cotton swabs, covered with similarly prepared other swabs, and placed in the refrigerator in the lower compartment for three days. The temperature is set at 4–6 ° C. Tampons can be replaced with paper napkins.

When stratified, the seeds are kept in the refrigerator for 3 days.

When to plant seedlings

The manufacturer on the bag of seeds indicates the date of planting

Planting containers and substrate

Seedlings from strawberry seeds can be grown in transparent containers or plastic cups. Through their walls, the degree of moisture content of the substrate is visible.

Many gardeners use containers for sour cream, yogurt, milk. AT recent times peat cups are popular.

It is convenient to grow strawberry seedlings in peat cups

As a substrate, a special soil for strawberry seeds or flower seedlings, bought in a store, is suitable. But you can cook it yourself: equal shares of river sand and lowland peat are mixed with two shares of soddy land.

Planting seeds in containers

  1. Before filling the containers, the substrate is poured with a 1% solution of potassium permanganate (slightly color pink). This will destroy harmful microorganisms and fungal spores.
  2. The dishes are filled with nutrient soil.
  3. Strawberry seeds are laid out on the surface at a distance of 20 mm from each other.
  4. Then spray with warm water from a spray bottle.
  5. The top of the container is covered polyethylene film or closed with a transparent lid.

Ways to plant strawberries

On the open areas the most common classic landing:

Free space is needed for strawberry care and weed and pest control.

There is also a lot non-standard ways landings for which bags, shelters, landscape drops are used. Among them, the most common:

  • vertical planting of strawberries car tires, plastic pipes large diameter, chain-link mesh and other improvised materials, which are placed vertically to save space;
  • planting in plastic bags, which are filled soil mixture and strawberry seedlings are planted in the holes made with a knife;
  • planting under agrofibre, spread directly on the ground or forming film tunnels.

To save space, strawberries can be planted outside the beds using various devices.

Strawberry compatibility with other plants when planting

This berry is not considered a capricious plant and perfectly coexists with many flowers and vegetables:

  • lettuce,
  • garlic,
  • bush beans,
  • bow,
  • spinach,
  • marigolds.

Strawberries normally tolerate the presence of sage, parsley, borage. But the neighborhood with potatoes, cabbage, tomatoes and cucumbers is undesirable, since they have common pest- nematode. From raspberries growing nearby, weevil can go to strawberries.

Garlic - good neighbor for strawberries

Proper planting of strawberries is the first step to breeding berries rich in vitamins and microelements. You can read a lot, study, watch videos about the cultivation of strawberries, but if you do not pick up garden tools and do not start preparing the land for planting bushes - the theory will never be translated into practice. Start with simple steps: buy seedlings, plant in pre-prepared soil, water, loosen the ground, mulch. The result is sure to come!

It has long been known that fruits bring great benefits to the human body, not to mention the fact that they are also very tasty. One of the first we are pleased with strawberries, enriching the immune system with a huge amount of useful substances. This berry is delicious fresh, and as jam, jam and not only, because there is not much of it. Since the culture is early, then buy it in large quantities difficult due to the high price, but you can grow your own. You can not do without knowledge of how exactly the process of seating this plant is carried out.

Mustache breeding

To make a big plantation from a small garden delicious berry there are various ways. Each of them is good in its own way, but each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Since strawberries throw out whiskers in the process of growth and development, the reproduction process can be considered the simplest with precisely these parts of it. This is a natural option, with the help of which culture can generate itself, but in order to receive good results not without human intervention.

The mustache that grows on the side of the bush, over time, begins to form its own root system and take root. If this is not prevented, then the plantation turns out to be very thickened, as a result of which the berry grows small. The advantage of such natural reproduction is complete transfer of varietal characteristics to a young plant.

To get new bushes by dividing with a mustache, you need to select several plants that are distinguished by good external data and give a stable and tasty harvest, and leave them for reproduction.

Those bushes that give life to new shoots will not be able to give an abundance of strawberries, therefore it is not recommended to overload them with this task. The main plantation will be aimed at obtaining tasty fruits, and some of the plants will prepare young bushes, which will bring the first harvest in a year. An ordinary healthy bush can give quite a lot of whiskers, which will greatly weaken the mother plant, so it is worth rationing them, leaving no more than seven. The optimal number of processes will make them stronger and form a powerful root system capable of as soon as possible take root and give impetus for further development.

Strawberries are able to throw out whiskers from the beginning of summer, when the temperature environment and the length of daylight hours will be most suitable, but those shoots that were grown in July are best taken root. A strong plant gives a tendril not with one outlet, but with three or more, but the most suitable for reproduction is the first one growing near the mother bush. In order not to waste his strength, it is worth trimming the mustache immediately after the first outlet.

If there is a need to grow a large number of seedlings, you can leave two outlets and remove the tip of the process.

The mother bush should be completely concentrated on the reproduction process, therefore it is important to monitor the appearance of flower stalks and get rid of them immediately so as not to waste the forces of culture on unnecessary activities. The process of propagating strawberries with a mustache is carried out according to a certain algorithm.

  • Bushes for propagation are selected that can give good material for seating.
  • After the appearance of the mustache, their number is normalized, and all peduncles are removed.
  • When roots form on rosettes, they must be pressed to the ground with a wire or in another way. In this place pours fertile soil for rooting. You can use a peat glass, which is dug into the ground in the place where the outlet is located, after which rooting occurs in it, and not a single root suffers when excavated.

  • Water the young plant every three days. The soil should be moist and the soil loose.
  • As soon as the outlet is fully formed, having at least four fully developed leaves and roots about 7 centimeters long, you can transplant to permanent place. The most acceptable period for seating is the end of August and until the second half of September. It is important to carry out work in dry weather without scorching sun, in the morning or in the evening, in order to provide the plants with the most comfortable conditions.
  • The socket must be separated from the mother plant and transferred to a permanent place by digging it from the ground along with the soil in which it grew. The mustache is cut 10 cm from the mother bush. To young plant was not so dependent, you can cut the mustache in advance, gradually weaning it from the original source of nutrition.

If everything is done correctly, then the new bushes will quickly take root and have time to get stronger before the onset of cold weather. In order for rooting and development to go faster, it is important to plant strawberries on a prepared garden bed, where suitable predecessors grew: carrots, radishes, beets and herbs.

The soil should be light and nutritious, for which you need to apply the right amount of fertilizer. Planting a berry crop in such conditions will give excellent results.

Bush division method

Work on the development of new varieties of strawberries is ongoing to this day, which makes it possible to obtain not only increased yields and a pleasant taste of the berry, but also a partial or complete absence of mustaches that waste the plant's strength. These include remontant varieties, for planting which the method of dividing the bush is used. This option allows you not to stop the fruiting process, which makes it possible not to lose the crop, but at the same time to get the right amount of new bushes at the right time.

Only completely healthy plants with a strong root system can be used for division. Do not propagate bushes if they show signs of pest damage, because new bushes will have the same problems, which will negatively affect the quantity and quality of the crop. You can divide the culture with horns, but they are formed in adult plants, 2-4 years old, so young plantings do not need to be used.

One large full-fledged strawberry bush can produce at least five and up to 15 shoots, the main thing is that each of them has a heart and roots.

The division procedure can be carried out during the growing season, but the most comfortable conditions for this are in early August. The process of reproduction of the bush occurs according to a certain scheme.

  • Choose the strongest and healthy plant, dig it with the ground, so as not to damage the roots.
  • If there are dry or yellow leaves, they must be removed, and the entire bush should be placed in a container with warm water. To disinfect the roots and protect the bush from diseases, you can add potassium permanganate to the water.
  • As soon as all the earth comes down from the roots and sinks to the bottom of the tank, you can start dividing the bush. It is desirable to unravel the roots with the help of hands, without using cutting objects. During operation, it is important not to use excessive force so as not to damage the heart. If you need to cut something, a sharp object is used, which must first be disinfected.

  • When the preliminary preparation is completed, the plants are left to dry the roots. At this time, it is possible to examine them well and remove all problem areas by covering the cut with chalk powder, activated carbon, wood ash or cinnamon.
  • When everything is ready, the sockets land on the place that has been prepared for them. To stimulate the growth of the root part, you need to cut the deciduous part somewhere in half.

It is not always possible to achieve a good capable outlet, therefore small and weak options are planted in cups and grow from one to two months before planting them in open ground.

Following all the instructions, you can easily plant one bush, getting a lot of new shoots from it, which will quickly please you with ripe and tasty berries.

How to propagate from seeds?

There are many options for exactly how strawberries can be planted, and in addition to tendrils and dividing the bush, there is one more, which is also quite popular. This is propagation by seeds. To get seed material from berries, you need to do everything correctly preparations, as well as know how to germinate and plant the resulting plants. Often this option is used by breeders who are puzzled by the development of new varieties and hybrids, but anyone can try it.

The advantage of propagation through seeds is the absence of any possibility of transmitting the disease from the mother plant to the new one. The disadvantage can be considered the inability to grow a hybrid variety in this way.

To get seeds yourself, you need to choose a good, large and ripe strawberry, cut it upper layer no more than two millimeters thick, cut into thin strips and put in a dry, warm place to dry. It is important that direct sunlight does not fall on the seeds.

After two or three days, the pulp is separated from the planting material with the help of fingers, which is collected in fabric bags or glass jars for storage in a dry and cool place. refrigerator for two months.

It will be optimal to use a box for vegetables and fruits, where the temperature is approximately +4 degrees, and there are no sharp jumps. If the substrate dries out, it must be moistened, maintaining right conditions for seeds.

The process of planting seeds occurs in February, for which you need to purchase universal soil. To protect future plants from diseases, a little wood ash or powdered chalk should be added to the soil.

Before planting the seeds, it is important to disinfect the land in which they will be planted, for which boiling water is passed through it, it is calcined in the oven or frozen in the freezer.

When a week remains before planting, the soil is soaked in a solution of "Fitosporin", "Trichodermin", "Baikal", "Aktofit", after which it is well dried. To plant strawberry seeds, you need to carry out a number of activities.

  • Soak the seed material for 5 hours in a biostimulator. After placing the seeds in the solution, you need to immediately remove those that have surfaced, as they are not suitable for germination. To prepare seeds for different conditions environment, it is recommended to harden them within a three-day period, laying them out in damp gauze in the freezer at night and in the warmest place during the day.
  • Choose a container in which the landing will be made. These should be wide containers, fill most of them with prepared soil. The first layer is a drainage layer 1-2 cm thick made of expanded clay, then the soil itself, which needs to be moistened and compacted.

  • Rows are formed at a distance of four centimeters, into which the seeds will fall. It is worth deepening them no more than half a centimeter, without falling asleep on top of the earth.
  • Cover the container with film or glass and place in a dark but warm place until the first sprouts appear. Every day, planting should be ventilated for about ten minutes, and the soil should be moistened with a spray gun when it starts to dry out.
  • When sprouts appear, the film or glass must be removed, and the container must be moved to the most illuminated place in the room. It is important to use additional lighting to extend daylight hours to 14-16 hours. During seed germination optimum temperature it will be +23.25 degrees, and at the time of growth of green sprouts, it should be reduced to +18.20 so that the seedlings do not tend to rise too much.

  • As soon as more than two leaves are formed on the plant, it is necessary to significantly lower the temperature regime to +12.15 degrees. Important: moisten the ground only if the top layer dries up, otherwise you can cause black leg disease. During this period, watering the leaves should be avoided, because moisture is applied with a pipette directly to the roots, this procedure is performed once a week. If traces of mold appear, then you need to treat the soil with a fungicide.
  • After a few weeks, you can add a mixture of sand and peat under the root, which activates the growth of the root system.
  • With the advent of more than four leaves, you need to dive the plant. To facilitate the process of excavation of seedlings, it is necessary to water it well and extract it along with the clod of earth in which it grew. Planting is carried out in cups, in which moderate watering and cultivation are carried out before planting in the ground.

  • After 1-2 weeks, you need to make the first fertilizer. The next cycles will be done every few weeks. It is worth choosing phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, in which the level of nitrogen is low.

Seedlings can be planted when they have at least 6 full-fledged leaves and roots are developed. This usually occurs in May-June, when nighttime temperatures do not fall below +10 degrees Celsius. Until the moment of disembarkation, it is worth hardening the seedlings, taking them out into the street, increasing their stay there from one hour up to 14 hours.

All subsequent actions will be the same as when working with any strawberry seedlings, and after a while you will be able to observe a healthy plantation of berry crops.

Common mistakes

To quickly plant strawberries and get a good harvest, it is important to choose the best bushes and decide on the method of reproduction. To avoid problems with this event, you need to know what errors can be.

  • Hasty pruning of the tendril connecting the outlet and the mother bush, which leads to a longer survival and poor harvest, and sometimes to the death of the outlet.
  • Lack of control over the number of mustaches and rosettes, which weakens the mother plant, and the resulting sprouts have inferior development and take root in a new place for a very long time.

  • Performing a mustache transplant with rosettes several times. This leads to deformation and damage to the root system, which makes it difficult to quickly take root in a permanent place.
  • The process of planting seedlings is carried out in an unprepared place. For example, this is a soil with a lack of fertilizers, as well as improperly selected nutrients, too viscous or overdried soil.

Carrying out all the actions correctly, without repeating mistakes, you can quickly and efficiently get a good strawberry plantation in the country, which will please you with a powerful harvest in a year.

how how to plant strawberries to get a good harvest? We offer you four effective ways planting strawberries, which have long established themselves among gardeners.

Strawberry sockets are planted one at a time at a distance of 45-60 cm. To prevent the plants from intertwining, the whiskers are regularly removed, thereby allowing the bushes to develop intensively and bear fruit abundantly.

The disadvantages of the method: laborious, requires frequent loosening of the soil, weed control, mulching and trimming of the whiskers.

Advantages of the method: berries are large due to a small number of bushes, each plant is ventilated, which reduces the likelihood of putrefactive diseases, planting material is saved.

In this case, the bushes are planted at a distance of 15-20 cm in one row, and a strip 40 cm wide is left between the rows so that you can freely approach the plantings. As with growing strawberries in separate bushes, it is necessary to loosen the soil, remove mustaches and weeds.

The disadvantages of the method: the same as the first one.

Advantages of the method: strawberries planted in rows grow well and bear fruit for 5-6 years in one place.

With this planting method, one plant is planted in the center of the future nest and six more around it. The result is a hexagon with a distance between plants in the nest of 5-8 cm. The distance between nests in one row should be 25-30 cm, and between rows 35-40 cm.

The disadvantages of the method: a lot of planting material is required.

Advantages of the method: disembarks at five more plants than at traditional ways planting, which ensures a large harvest.

Carpet planting strawberries

This is the simplest and cheap way landing. Its essence is that the whiskers of the strawberry bushes do not break off, thereby allowing the berry to grow independently over the entire allotted area.

With such a compacted way of placing bushes, a special microclimate arises in the surface layer, and a layer of vegetable mulch is also formed by itself. This inhibits weed growth and keeps the soil moist.

Advantages of the method: convenient for those who are not often in the country, the berries are less likely to need watering, loosening and fertilizing due to natural mulching.

The disadvantages of the method: over time, the berries may shrink.
